Great sales all the time! They are so helpful on tool selection and have an expert on just about any project you could think of doing.

For a long time I supported this place and strongly advocated against shopping at Ace hardware…read more Keep things local at a hardware store that is part of the community. Unfortunately, one smug employee ruined that experience for me, and I'll now be switching my allegiance to Ace. I purchased a small $6 shower accessory. Unfortunately I lost the receipt. The accessory was not what I needed, and I attempted to return it. The employee stated I cannot return without a receipt, even for a store credit (I was going to purchase products worth more than the value of what I was returning). I was disappointed at this response, but I shopped for what I needed anyway. I went to the front, and the employee was helping another customer in an aisle. After helping that customer, she proceeded to another customer in the aisle. Now, I understand one person having to triage, but at that point a simple acknowledgement of me would have been nice. It felt intentional, and it seemed as if the employee was taking satisfaction, acting somewhat smug as she told me she won't accept a return without a receipt. Not sure if this is just one rude employee, or the owner is really this strict about returns on $6 items that are clearly unused, but either way, I seriously doubt I'll be doing business here any more. If you had or have a similar experience, I also encourage you to drop these clowns. (Incidentally, when I purchased the item I would eventually return, I was not asked for my phone number (which they generally use to text receipts, as I'm part of their "customer club" or whatever. So there is actually another mess-up by a different employee that could have accommodated the companies own draconian return policy.) In short, I go to a neighborhood spot like this for the service. And when I'm treated this way, it defeats the purpose of avoiding much more convenient and likely cheaper options like Ace or Amazon. You are not really selling hardware - you should be trying to offer a superior customer experience--remember that and you will not lose customers like this

Mom and Pop store where everyone knows what you need when you ask them about project or best item…read morefor the job and they take you to where it is in the store. There's a reason it's a local institution and legend. Yes, it's way smaller the the "big box" companies you know of. Brown's doesn't have everything they have because of size. But they have just about everything you truly need and can get it for you if it's not in stock. No wandering around endless isles with no help to help that's helpless. It's a small parking lot. Rarely full because your in and out so quick whether you need help or not. They're not open on Sunday and close a little early which is a major inconvenience for those who work a regular weekday hours. Doubt that's gonna change. But it's worth rearranging your schedule if you need hardware etc.

I wish I could give this store zero star. While it might be a good idea to have hardware store…read moretargeting the low-income families, the quality of the product is very poor. We got a key safe box to keep a spare key, and it would not open even with the right password. And overall, things here are old style, stone-age things that wouldn't work for a modern family. You would just better off by getting things from Amazon, or go to target. I am glad that they decided to close this store. Please remain closed and replace this one with a better store.

I will not bother to recount our extremely poor experience when we purchased 7 French Doors several years ago. I had one of their experts come to the home to measure the door frames so that if there were a problem they could not blame me for an incorrect measurement. Surprise surprise when one of the doors did not fit, this after the original door had been removed leaving a gaping hole in our living room wall. It took 5 weeks to receive the correct replacement. BTW, they wanted full payment before the new one arrived. I told them that I would have AMEX put the full amount on hold until the replacement arrived. That got their attention. Back to the current situation: When I visited the store to buy a replacement retention pin, the individual at the front counter was totally clueless. I then asked for the person who handles storm doors. Hilda wasn't in. Two voicemails were left on her line. I was not shocked when she did not respond. The good news is that the Anderson website parts dept. had the part. I should have gone there first rather than waste time with the indifferent and incompetent personnel at TW Perry. Stay away.
