I'm not much of a Big Box home improvement guy since I often find myself completely lost in their retailing hedgerows between the finishing nails and the smart home refrigerators that argue with you over expiration dates. Not in Monmouth Junction. Hidden behind the massive CarMax... Karl Marx used car dealership is a very navigable Home Depot. Apparently out of sight and out of mind this store is never overrun with DIY refugees and as such, sales assistance is far more accessible than their megamall stores. What probably keeps them going are the thicket of contractors which line the parking lot who no doubt appreciate the quick in and out. I debated keeping this one to myself but in the spirit of holiday giving, enjoy. Five easy stars. read more

Disappointing Experience with Zero-Turn Mower Purchase I was really looking forward to using my new zero-turn mower, but the experience has been frustrating from the start. First, the store tried to deliver a lawn tractor instead of the zero-turn mower I ordered. When I called to sort it out, the associate initially insisted the order had been delivered--then claimed it was a missed delivery, neither of which was true. I was told the manager would call me back, but feeling uneasy, I went to the store myself. Thankfully, the Assistant Manager, Joe, confirmed the mistake and resubmitted the correct order. The mower arrived the next day, but it was far from what I expected for a brand-new item. The seat looked damaged, the decals were unreadable due to fading or peeling, and the machine was dusty with visible stains. After all the hassle, I received a product that looked used--not new. I don't think I was asking for too much. I paid for a new mower and expected both the product and service to reflect that. Unfortunately, this experience left me disappointed. read more

It is almost impossible to grt anyone to help you in the store because staffing is at its lows. The level of service in the Millworks section is particularly appalling. When you call there's no one to pick up and even if someone does after repeated tries, the audio quality is drifty and scratchy. I have been shopping here since the store opened and have only seen it going downhill. read more

I will honestly NEVER use Home Depot again. Lowes here I come. I am doing some repairs and renovations in my sister's condo while she is rehabbing from a broken ankle, and Juggling it all while working full time and living in another state. This weekend, I was thrilled to make an appointment through the flooring 1-800 number to have the floor measured for a new flooring install. The appointment was to be today, I was told, after a half hour on the phone trying to make this appointment (the woman who helped me was struggling...always great to hear) but I was told it was all set and I would receive a call between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM today to confirm an exact appointment time. I had my sister's friend on standby to run over to the condo to meet the measurer. By 10 o'clock when I hadn't heard from the measurer, I called Home Depot again and asked what was going on. Although I had paid a deposit for this measuring appointment, they told me that there was no record I had called at all and that no one was coming out today. Having dealt with a bunch of contractors in the last few weeks trying to help out my sister, I have met good and bad, but I am constantly flabbergasted at the complete ineptitude of some individuals who call themselves "customer service representatives" having no interest in serving their customers or ability to do their jobs. You book an appointment, tell me a date and then tell me "oops! We messed up?" This is Home Depot! A major company with the resources to do better. This was a total dereliction of duty for which I and my sister's friend have been inconvenienced and stressed. Home Depot should pay ME for the hours of my life I have spent and will spend both booking a phantom appointment and finding someone competent to actually do the job. By the way, The woman at the one 800-number today told me I should call the store to find out what was going on. When I called the store, the phone rang and rang and no one picked up. Basically your typical home depot except it is ALWAYS understaffed. Whoever manages this store should be demoted and retrained!!! We went yesterday(Saturday afternoon) to buy a new front door and garage door.... easily a $4k purchase. The door section was unstaffed and no one working knew anything about the products they sell. There was no one scheduled to come in Saturday evening or at all Sunday. The person (Kevin) who knows about the products only works until 4:30 pm....... so if I want to buy doors from Home Depot I would have to take a day off of work. The manager here, Jan, is the nastiest human being to exist. I don't understand how they have someone like this working a job that involves customer interactions. She was not only completely useless when it comes to helping us with a rental issue, but she would call us names and mutter nasty things under her breath. NEVER PURCHASE APPLIANCES HERE. The distribution center at this Home Depot was (still is) responsible for one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had as a customer. I purchased 3 appliances (Oven, microwave, and dishwasher) in November, and have yet to receive two of them (it is now January). When they first came to deliver and install the appliances, I had to make a few modifications seeing as the kitchen I was remodeling was very dated. Once making the modifications (electric and pluming), I asked for the two appliances that were not installed to be delivered. 2nd Attempt: Called the home depot and had them schedule for a day that I had to take off of work (since there was no weekend availability for 2 weeks). The delivery team came in the late afternoon, very confused. They were under the impression that it was just a service call and they did not bring the appliances. Side note: they dragged dirt and mud into my house, not even attempting to wipe their feet. The customer service for the spirit delivery group was very short with me and told me that I had to reschedule for the next week. This of course was because there was no more availability for delivery. The home depot staff was much more apologetic and guaranteed that it would not happen again. 3rd Attempt (one week later): Taking another day off of work to be present for the delivery, they once again show up without the appliances. My jaw dropped in amazement. This is after spending hours on the line between the home depot and the spirit delivery service the week prior. After demanding that they bring the appliances that day, they moved me to the next day for another attempt to deliver (rather than the next week that they were suggesting). 4th Attempt (Today): I requested an hour heads up for when they would arrive so I could make my way home and not to burn through a 3rd day off of work. The deliver team did not show up without the appliances... in fact they didn't even show up at all! I waited on the line for 25 minutes to speak with someone from the distribution customer service. After explaining the situation she asked me to hold. I held for another 22 minutes until she got back on the phone only to tell me, she doesn't know what happened and that the delivery team can not be reached. I am now on the line waiting for Home Dept customer service to pick up at 3:30pm. It was 14 minutes before anyone picked up the call. Three transfers and three explanations later, the group at home depot is just as confused as I am and are calling the spirit delivery group. They said they would give me a call back shortly, but it has been 30 minutes and I doubt they have even be able to contact anyone from the empty soul crushing vortex that is the spirit customer service line. Now that I think about it, the name is actually quite fitting. This is a delivery service that will crush your spirit. Note after the fact: I still don't have my appliances. They have now determined that too much time has passed and they are cancelling my purchase. I have never felt so neglected as a customer. read more

This location has gone down since Lou left. I purchased a wet dry vac online. It was delivered form this location. The box had been re-taped and parts were not in their original packaging. This location has a bad habit of high returns. I have seen customers return plants garden chairs especially during graduation season ,I'm not sure if this item will work. Next time I suggest order online and request it come from a warehouse. I too will try Lowes in the future. read more

Came to the store looking for a floor sample. Asked two older women who were working in the back if there was a way to order a sample of the flooring through the store because I was having trouble online and wanted to confirm the floor sample to the floor in my new house. The previous owners did not leave a floor sample. Both women were extremely passive aggressive and spoke to me with a extremely rude manner. I would not go to this store if you are asking for help with home remodeling. They should not work on the floor if they are going to act like that. read more

Very poor customer service experience. Visited the store at 7:30pm on a slow Monday to buy a rug. There's no one in the carpet department. It took me 10 mins to find someone in another aisle that said "I don't work in that department." I walked back, and there was finally someone there, he didn't greet me, just looked at me, not even a hello, very awkward. It appeared he was more concerned about handling his tasks then taking care of customers. I asked about rugs and told me to look at an end-cap and walked away. Offered no assistance. Complete negligence. There was a woman off to the side in kitchen/cabinets dept that tried to help, but ended up telling me to just go online because she doesn't work in that department. She came off rude too. They're probably getting paid by the hour and want to waste time so their shift can end, otherwise, if they're commissioned based, it was a pretty stupid move, oh well. I'll take my money elsewhere, probably Lowes. read more

I never thought I'd be giving a Home Depot five stars, but today's experience at the South Brunswick store definitely warrants it. I needed to replace a halogen bulb that had burned out in my shower. As I walked into the store, a young woman greeted me, said there was no dedicated lighting person available, and offered to help. She walked me over to the bulb section, and as she started to look, another associate passed by and also offered to help. He took over. The defunct bulb was listed as giving off 1020 lumens, and it seems no bulb now has that capacity, even though the old one was just a couple of years old. Alan spent a very long time looking for an appropriate replacement. The one that seemed best was an LED bulb, but it was $20, and I sure didn't want to spend that kind of money on a single bulb. When I said that I thought the price had come down on LEDs, he said "How about if I give you 50% off?" He then walked me over to the register, told the cashier to ring it up with the discount, and she cheerily complied. The cynic in me says that HD is artificially raising prices, then giving big discounts when a customer demurs. But the shopper in me is thrilled that I was able to get the replacement at a price I can live with. Both Alan and Jennifer, the cashier, were friendly and helpful and I left as a very satisfied customer. Moreover, I have never seen so many floor people working the store at any Home Depot. My house is located between two HDs, and next time I need one, I will go the slightly extra distance to shop at the So. Brunswick location. It was that good. read more

This store has been the worst customer experience out of all home improvement stores we have been to by far. So you know how low that bar goes. We have always been to various Home Depots to pick out our Christmas trees and taken (dragged) our teenage kids with us, and having moved into the area decided to try this one out. The lady at the garden center was downright rude. There was no one to help with getting the tree ready, and when the guy finally came by he just sleeved the tree with the orange mesh and left it there. I even had to ask him to take a little bit of the bottom off. No twine help tie to your car, no offer to help. It was like, "here take your damn tree and gtfo". We have all been to Home Depot. It is ubiquitous. One of my least favorite places on earth. As a considerate spouse there are times you have to take one for the team and just suck it up. After all I Drag my significant other to endless bookstores and garage sales. Why does it take done people forever to get thru this place? I'm not handy and have no desire to be. Yes I admit it. Usually I think the employees in HD can sense how much I'd rather be somewhere else and it just ends up being a bad experience for all involved. This HD is one of the best ones I've been in. Friendly staff. Helpful and actually very nice to those of us who are, shall we say, " Tool Challenged". I went to HD for a quote on a fence. They sent there approved contractor to measure and give me a quote. After about a week I received the quote in the mail that had a Home Depot logo on top of it for $2200 with a picture of what I wanted and all the measurements that he took. I then called them to except the offer and set up a date and time and they told me that they made a mistake and needed to charge me an extra $500. I went to Home Depot and said this quote is good for 30 days And i excepted it and if they made a mistake it should be their problem not mine. They would not honor so I called the headquarters to complain. Home Depot told me that their contractor said I change the materials and would not honor the change .This was a lie, everything was clearly written on the quote they gave me and Home Depot would not honor it. you are much better off going to Lowe's . I went to this home depot today and I was racially profiled at the self checking station. I was with this Spanish contractor scanning our items when this "white"/European American female began to ask me 21 questions as if I can't afford my merchandise. She stood as far as 4 feet away from us and kept monitoring our every move in that tight space. I told her to stop harassing us as we are paying customers who have not stolen anything from the store but she kept aggressively arguing with us. After asking her to get her manager repeatedly, she finally did and the manager showed up. Well, I see why she acts like a racist prick! Needless to say, the manager who is "white" was actually worse than her. He was dismissive in his behavior then proceeded to walk away as he explained how he feels "sorry you feel that way." The WORST customer service ever. I just called to inquire about their DIY workshops. After being transferred by a very nice women at customer service she told me the person in charge of the workshops would assist me. This really rude bothered women answered. She told me that the workshop that would be held is DIY project, when I asked what specific topic would be covered she replied, its store choice its our choice. when asked what choice would it be. She replied with a tone of exhaustion, "a little bit of everything" after which she finished the conversation with Okkkk. I was shocked by my lack of knowledge about the home basics and utterly amazed at the expertise of the Home Depot staff. This store is well staffed and very accommodating to their customers. As someone looking for direction in finding their way around a small home project, it seems as though there is not a single person in this entire store who is A.) happy with their job and B.) willing to spend 2 minutes walking with you to the proper isle and showing you your way to the specific product. My experience I ordered a Storm Door in Sept., 2020 from Home Depot. After they came to my residence to measure the doorway, the Sales Rep informed me that I needed to relocate the doorbell one quarter inch in order for the storm door to be installed. I paid Home Depot for the relocation of the doorbell along with the installation costs for the Storm Door. On November 6, 2020 Home Depot sent an outside contractor B N'B Associates - 35 Orlando Drive, NJ 08869, to do the work. When the workman arrived, he rang my doorbell, I answered and he proceeded with the work. After the door was installed, I inspected it and it was fine but when I inspected the doorbell which he had moved over one quarter inch, it did not ring. I pointed it out to him and he tried to rectify the problem by inspecting the ringer box and the doorbell box in the basement. He said both were working but the doorbell still was not working. He then asked me to sign a release that the door was installed. When I asked about the doorbell he stated that Home Depot would contact me. At 5pm on that same day, Nov 6th, I received a text message from Home Depot stating that my order was complete. I called them and told him that the order was not complete if the doorbell was not working. They contacted B 'NB Associates and told me a representative from that company would call to give me a date to fix my doorbell. On November 10, 2020, a representative from B N'B called me to find out what was the problem, I told them and he said he would send a workman on November 18, 2020 between 10am and 2pm. This morning, November 18, 2020 at 8:30am, I opened my door and a business card fell out. When I looked at it, I noticed it was from B N'B Associates. I called the number on the card but it went to voicemail so I called Home Depot. After they contacted B N'B Associates, they informed me that the workman who installed my door, wrote in his report that when he rang the doorbell on Nov 6th, no one answered and only when he banged on the door did I come to it. So they believe the doorbell was not working before he moved it, and it was my word against the workman. I spoke with a Customer Service Rep named Deborah from Home Depot who informed me that since it was my word against his, they were willing to give me a doorbell but they could not pay for the installation. I told her that my complaint was made the same day of the installation. B N'B Associates was contacted that same day and promised to make amends. Now two weeks later, they have a report of my doorbell not working before they got there. If they were being honest, they should have made that report from the same day. It is very unfair to me to fork out money to pay for installation of a doorbell that was working before they moved it to install a storm door. read more

This is the worst Home Depot in N.J., possibly the country. NO ONE answers the phone when you call a particular department--the phone continues to ring and ring and ring. Then, if you're lucky, someone may pick up but has no clue. It's utterly ridiculous--either the corporate office should close this place down or get competent management who will hire people that have basic skills. Most employees lack interpersonal skills. 4 out of 10 store associates will work with you, the rest are very rude and just worried about getting through the day with whatever hours they have left in their shift. I've been at this store countless times while renovating my house and the service is crap most of the time. It's a grab n go type of store, don't bother asking for expert advice, you might as well spend some time watching youtube and researching your own projects. I've already canceled an $11K project with them because no one showed up on the date scheduled, and store leadership was unapologetic, they could care less. And most items listed as in stock on the website, many times are sold out in the store. Don't trust their inventory system. read more

I bought a suncast shed from this store. After the purchase, when i randomly checked the price of the same product, it was low price in nearby AceHardware store. Today I went and see the customer service to see if they can match the price, The lady who served me right away says she does not match price with AceHardware(No ware in home depot policy excludes certain retailers from price match) and then start saying reasons why she would not match price even before checking the details and asked me to bring up info from a computer and started ignoring me. I would not expect such an unprofessional behavior from a home depot associate. Eventually another gentleman showed up and offered help, I explained the situation and showed competitor's website that the item is in stock their store with low price, he says he does not honor information from competitor's website and asked me to get a photo graph of the price tag from ACEHardware, If this is home depot policy, seriously this does not make sense. read more

This location is very good, with easy on and off access to Route 1. It's not a bad store, with lots of stock and tons of variety, however, I wish service was a little better. When I asked about gloss vs semi gloss vs satin, the staff waffled about what that meant. However, after some thought, while I was just about to walk away with no clue, one of them pulls out a sample of gloss and said, 'semi gloss is less glossy and satin is less glossy.' Why isn't there a sample of each type so I can visualize HOW less glossy each is?? read more

We bought a LG Instaview refrigerator and scheduled a delivery. I was told that the delivery service, Spirit Logistics, will call me the night before to give me a 4-hour delivery window. I did get the call the night before but the delivery never came. I waited until 9:30pm until I returned to the store to inquire why the delivery was never made. After endless calls to LG and the delivery service nothing was done. The next day we went back to Home Depot to find out what happened to the delivery. No one at Home Depot, the delivery courier, or LG knew why it was not delivered nor why I was not called to notify me that the delivery will not be made. We then had to wait an additional 4 days to reschedule the delivery. Today, was the rescheduled day and the delivery never came! At this point, I ordered the same refrigerator from Best Buy at a better price and scheduled the delivery for the next day! I would recommend that you bypass buying any appliance from Home Depot until they change delivery courier. Again, if you buy any appliance from any place, if they tell you that Spirit Logistics is their courier - walk away. read more
