How insulting is it that I walked through the main entrance of Burlington and had to wait for "loss…read moreprevention" to come meet me to remove a retractable belt that blocked me from fully entering the store. The woman was wearing an oversized black vest, similar in style to a bullet proof vest possibly, with the words "loss prevention" in yellow across the chest area. I haven't shopped here in several months, so I'm not sure what's going on. This exact same situation also occurred on my last visit, and I presumed at the time that they were dealing with a recent incident/theft. I am not supporting any store that ropes me off and uses intimidation tactics before I prepare to spend my money in their establishment. Beyond the lack of inventory and customer service, first impressions set the tone for the entire customer relationship, and if loss prevention is a concern at this location, they should brainstorm on other ways to address the problem without alienating their loyal customers. At no point did I feel valued or that my support as a paying customer was appreciated. While waiting on line to check out, the same LP person was doing a return. So we had to wait until she was finished since that was the only register open. It was not my idea to visit this store, but I will not be returning. If my last two visits are a reflection of their company culture, then I can shop elsewhere.

A horrible experience. Do NOT buy any fragrance product…read morefrom this store. Contrary to what the receipt says, or your belief of the 30-day return policy, they will NOT let you return. Background: I have been buying a number of gift items from Burlington in last 2 months. Purpose: gift during upcoming Holidays. Many of those are fragrance sets for men and women (come in boxes). While gift-wrapping, I found one of those boxes came open and seemed to be used. While buying, I had asked of the return policy. All Burlington stores assured me it was 30 days. Also, they informed of an additional 15 days for loyalty-enrolled customers. So, I joined their loyalty program, as I was buying so many gift items, Incident: I took this one item back to return today, the cost was merely $12.99. Customer Service: The counter-lady promptly relayed that fragrance items were non-returnable. I needed to complain; requested for a manager to speak to. It took more than 15 mins for someone to meet me. I showed the receipt and asked for where that clause was mentioned. She could not locate one. Then pointed to the word 'qualified' but was not able to point to where that was described. She hinted it was an open box, and referred me to Burlington website. I reminded her that's how (unsealed) the box was sold, and that's what prompted me to return that box. I also reminded her that just the week prior I bought several of similar boxed Fragrance gifts from another Burlington. And again was affirmed by the sales counter that my loyalty status allowed me 45 days return policy. Nothing doing. Then she said something which was completely unexpected. She said that she would only take items back if they were sold by the same store. Really! Isn't Burlington a national chain! Of course I left without any other outcome. My feedback is not motivated by the value of the item. It's wrong in many fronts, illegal to refuse a policy that is printed on the store receipt. I am ignoring the long wait at the line, with only 2 open sales counters; plus 15+ minutes for speaking with the manager. I told her that the policy she stated would prohibit me from buying any fragrance item from Burlington in the future. I hope I am able to educate some other customers who may unwittingly face a similar situation.

I am so happy to see Bridgewater Commons coming to life again! It holds a special place in my heart. The past few years, it felt like a ghost town walking around. There was so many closings, no stores I was excited to go to, it was just not on my radar. But it really does feel like it's having a renaissance! I stopped in last week to make a few returns and was so excited to see so many new stores and a mall full of shoppers. From Pottery Barn, Vera Bradley, Jcrew, a brand new Anthro, and so many other noteworthy shops. I left with a few bags in hand. If you miss your mall shopping days as much as I do, Bridgewater Commons is officially back and worth a visit.

The store is generally well-organized, with clear sections and helpful signage, and most items are easy to find without wandering too much. Staff interactions were mostly positive--available when needed without being pushy. Checkout was smooth, and there were decent sales running, which always helps make the visit feel worthwhile. A few areas could use improvement. Some sections felt a bit crowded or outdated, and inventory in certain sizes or styles was hit or miss. During busier times, lines can build up quickly, especially at customer service. Overall, it's a dependable department store that does what it's supposed to do. Not flashy, but convenient, practical, and a good anchor store for the mall.

They have a great selection of small furniture, like benches, occasional tables, shelves, chairs and outdoor patio sets. There are so many beautiful pieces in home decor, lots of kitchen gadgets in housewares, and everything you need for the bathroom and bedroom. The decorator pillows and throws are the best! Then there is the clothing section, jam packed with the latest trends and basics. As I was walking down the aisle, the mannequin caught my eye with her long brown panther duster calling out my name! I couldn't find one in the racks so I stripped her of the jacket figuring I deserved it more than her! LOL Panther prints are so on trend this season. Wore it to NYC and in every boutique I visited, the sales clerks raved about the duster. When I got home to Portland, I wore it to dinner, the theatre, shopping and got compliments everywhere. Oh, and the best part, it was $29.99 and it's machine washable. Now that's a score. As with all TJMAXX stores, don't pass up the jewelry counter. They have high end and low end with lots of nuggets hidden in the cases. If you want a fast pick me up, there are always sterling silver earrings for under $16.99. I bought a thick sterling bangle that looks like six separate bangles but is actually just one; for $70 it makes quite the statement. Checkout lines were long but as usual, I amused myself with all of the spontaneous purchases that surround the line. Picked up some "Drink Up Witches" cocktail napkins that seemed an appropriate hostess gift for the gathering I was attending that night! When I visit New Jersey, I stay with a friend in my old neighborhood. Translation - I will be back!
