Firstly, this store does a decent job honoring warranty and returns. The regular staff in this store are generally helpful. However, of late there have been sales associates present in the store that harass people for information. You will find it difficult to avoid these people unless you look poor. A year or two ago, "Flock Safety" cameras were installed covering both entrances and exits to this store. Just wait till you find out what that is. Compromising the Fourth Amendment rights of Americans is a hallmark of Home Depot corporation. This is a very basic home depot that receives a rather limited selection for unknown reasons. read more

Once again I am disappointed by my local Home Cheapo. Give the masses the lowest price at all costs including poor customer service. I purchased a DeWalt log splitter for over 1800.00 it arrived after a week and a half broken. The delivery truck was in an accident and they never told me. They dropped the log splitter off in my driveway and left me with a pile of broken parts. I just had 13 large trees taken down and I need this unit. Home Cheapo told me they must pick up the broken unit before they can order a new unit. About a 2-3 week delay. The employee's couldn't care less. I cancelled my order and drove a mile down the road to Tractor Supply. They had a similar unit in stock and I drove it home the same day. Tractor Supply rocks and Home Cheapo does not. Be very cautious with the big orange box store. read more

I'm going to say that Peggy gives the best old school stellar service that folks dream of else where. I came for fawn creek carpet , needed for selling a condo after a family member's passing. The Home Depot Store #984 in Newton N.J. is a Very Solid home improvement store with great selection on power tools, landscaping equipment, outdoor furniture, and a large well maintained Garden Center. I came here looking for all of the above and I was able to find everything that I needed plus recieved very good sales service from the Garden Center Associate. I also returned some garden irrigation kits that I didn't want and I found the Service Desk Associates to be helpful and pleasant. Overall I'll definitely be stopping in to this H.D. in the future whenever I find myself up in this area. read more

very poor service! I had to return some blinds that were the incorrect size and ask for a store credit card so I could get the correct ones.. Af I chose the right ones and went to the self service register since there's no maned register,I atempted to complete my purchase. The register stated that I was NOT the person who bought the original items and that the store credit was invalid! The manager Tasha made me show my drivers license to verify my identity and said that it's not the same as the person on the account e though my name comes up. Really? this is the last time I purchase ANYTHING there if you want good service go to Lowe's! read more

I will never EVER buy anything from Home Depot ever again. We purchased a stove, fridge, and dishwasher in store months ago. First screw up on their end: The LG stove was no longer being manufactured. They never called us, they changed what we ordered without saying anything and also pushed back our delivery date by almost a month. Second: We were supposed to have it all delivered tomorrow. AGAIN THEY DID NOT CALL US. We call the night before the first woman tells us our appliances will be delivered between 7am-7pm which is just ridiculous on it's own but to call back in 2 hours to get a more estimated time. So in doing so the next person we speak to says that "now" our appliances are back ordered which is strange considering they just told us it was getting delivered. The biggest pile of BS I've ever had to deal with. I will never return. read more

Why is garden so empty of associates during the week it's like they did not hire enough people

I realize that Home Depot stores are geared largely at customers who are self-directed and don't want to be bothered much with sales or assistance, but this location takes the cake for lack of panache... On one visit, I asked two separate employees at different parts of the store (regarding two separate items): "Do you carry such and such item?" Each replied with the same monotonous "Yes" accompanied by a dead stare and no further information. Jeez. If you don't know the precise name of the supply that you need, nor the precise area of the store where it is located, expect the staff to be belligerent and downright unhelpful. And expect to have to goad the employees further to get any blood from a stone. read more

I planned to go to the Sears Hardware in Newton, NJ to buy a roto-tiller, but since the Home Depot was right next to it, I decided to go there to comparison shop. I did not see any, so I started to walk out., On my way out, a young female employee merely said, "Have a nice day". Normally, people of her age are texting with their friends and not paying attention to what they SHOULD be doing. Since she made that effort, I went up to her to mention why I was there and she used her iPhone to check the inventory for tillers. Long story short, I ended up getting a 43cc tiller for the SAME PRICE I would have paid at Sears for a 25cc model. I was so damned happy about this that I also bought a new weed-whacker for another $100. Her attention to Customer Service, or at least showing respect to customers, resulted in the store making a $325 sale they otherwise wouldn't have. I hope Home Depot treats her the way she deserves to be treated going forward! read more

These folks need to be trained in customer service from the Mgr down. I have an Apt Bldg locally and spend $$$ with this branch, but after the last episode of failure to delivery my oven 2X, they cooked up too many excuses. Gave them the benefit to re-deliver and they screwed it up both times with no apologies and no remorse. Asked to speak store Mgr "Susan" and she had someone else call back with a lame excuse. Bring back the small hardware stores so folks like this can,t hide behind their corporate shield. read more

"ERIN " was so kind and helpful .And because of her patience I ended up to purchase other items. Thus spending more money. Also to note I had breast cancer and am a survivor. I was not feeling well. Another kind compassionate customer service representative by the name of "THERESA" asked me if I needed a drink of water. My home is in Morris County. And I have a summer home in Sussex .I purchased all my appliances and generator and snow blower from Home Depot. I sure will purchase all my items from this store. Repor and manners sure are found here. And your treated with quality and made to feel that your appreciated for being a customer of Home Depot. Something that is so lost in other stores. I ordered a ceiling fan back in Feb. It arrived with a broken glass globe (that seems to be common with this fan based on reviews). I called home depot and tried to get a replacement globe sent out, and was informed it would take until may, but if I brought the fan to a store, they would replace in a week or two. Well, after 2 weeks, I got a call saying the fan was back-ordered until May 15th. I called and tried to cancel my order and was told I should just wait for the new fan to be delivered, and then return it... I called on may 16th and was told the fan was in the mail, they didn't have a tracking number, but I would be receiving it in 3-5 days. It is now May 28th, and I called again, to find out that because I returned the Fan, it was listed as a refund/return, and they cannot send me a new fan. I waited 3 Months, and was lied to at least 3 times (I called a few times to confirm the fan was still coming) and Still do not have a light/fan in my living room. I am a new home owner, and have spent over $15,000 at home depot in the last year, and never had such awful service in the local store. I had about 5 things I needed to order online from them, now I'm ordering from Lowes. Home Depot stores are fine, but BEWARE ORDERING ONLINE!!! Unfortunately, I do Like this Home Depot, it's clean, the people are friendly, but there was no way to post a complaint about ordering online without tagging my local home depot. Absolutely go to this location if they have items in stock, and maybe try ordering through the store, but stay as far away from online/corporate orders as you can!!! read more

I called and asked if they had wood pellets they said they had many pallets of them I drove 15 miles to the store and they told me the pallets were buried in the snow and they would not dig them out wasted my time going there asked to speak to a manager who never showed up. Went outside cut up my Home Depot credit card and went to Lowe's and got the pallets I needed. A lifelong customer gone forevermore to Lowes they know how to treat customers read more

No one is ever around when you need help, their return policies have changed and are way too strict, the reason I choose Home Depot over Amazon is the convenience of no hassle returns, well the hassle is not only there now it is too extreme. Buyer beware - purchased a Maytag top loader washing machine. Less than 2 months old have had tech out 3 times. Leaves soap scum all over clothing. Have done everything they have told me to do. Techs say Maytag says there is nothing wrong with machine. I will have to just keep hitting rinse and spin until soap is gone. Has taken a min. of 2.5 hours for small load of wash to get clean. Scott mgr. at home depot said he can't help me that I should sell it on Craigs list. Really??? Becareful what you buy - Home Depot no longer stands behind the products they sell!!! read more

My husband and I bought a stove and fridge from home depot we were, happy delivery was on time. But we went and bought a washer and dryer we were not happy. They said they were going to delivery on the 28th of Nov. But they said there truck broke down, I think home Depot needs a second back up. Now its going to be six days without washer and dryer If you are supposed to delivery something make sure it is done. Work was missed because they could not delivery on time . Horrible Experience. I purchased a new washer at Home Depot in Newton, I went to Sears, Lowes and Home Depot and chose Home Depot, even though the cost was more, because the sale associate (Jeannie Rudinsky) was very knowledgeable and pleasant. I waited a week for the delivery and when it showed the nightmare began. The drivers were extremely rude and when it was convenient for them, they spoke English. They told my wife that they could not install my washer because they were unfamiliar with our drain and that they may flood our basement. They would not remove the old washer either. This old washer was purchased at the same Home Depot 7 years ago and was installed when they delivered it. When they left my wife had to basically beg for something in writing that we were not taking delivery and they told us we would be refunded in 24 hours. Problem is we paid cash. I have purchased a lot of appliances and a lot of material from Home Depot and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. As long as they continue to use this 2nd rate delivery company, I will tell anyone who will listen, to purchase there appliances from Sears, Lowes or a local "mom & pop" store. read more
