Today at the Home Depot in Norwalk CT an employee was loading a $2,799 shower kit into my contractors truck & decided it was a good idea to cut the straps holding the kit together, which caused the shower door to fall out of the box and crashed onto the concrete floor completely destroying the shower door. Let me add that I waited patiently nearly 4weeks for this delivery. This was without any doubt the fault of Home Depot's employee, YET, Home Depot offered to credit my account & told me to reorder the product at the full price! I personally went to the store and spoke to the Manager who begrudgingly offered to apply only a $300 discount for my inconvenience! In addition I was told they could not expedite the order for me? I was told "well you are getting a full credit" what does that mean? I paid for a product, your employee broke it and there is no reparation to the customer for the sloppy handling by your employee of an expensive item, other than me having to fight for a discount? I have been long time customer at Home Depot and honestly this was the worse customer service I have ever experienced there! I would think twice before making large expensive purchases at this Home Depot they do not value their customers and their employees are not trained to handle the transport of your delivery. read more

He went out of his way to serve us. The overall quality of the store is averaged at best. This level of service depends on who you ask. Some of the people are excellent, and some of the people are less engaged. Parking is OK but it has been under construction for a long time. Getting in and out is a little tricky. If you're on a budget, Home Depot seems to be pretty expensive compared to other options. so we continue to keep going there because they have a large selection but they definitely could use improvement. read more

However, we were able to find what we needed and were even assisted with help (because climbing on shelves is frowned upon). So, I've never had an issue with Home Depot...I actually used to love going to Home Depot-until recently-what's up with the poor attitude in customer service at Home Depot this summer? Have literally lost hours and money all summer long and it got way worse this weekend. Spoke with Mike from Tool Rental, Jerricho, NY on the phone Sat morning who jumped down my throat from the other side of the phone and wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. When I told him I'd like a chance to speak and that I had to get off the phone soon because I wasn't feeling well and had to get to the Dr.s Appt. he kept right on yelling at me even louder "telling me, he was going to tell me how things are done around here," as if women had lost their right to vote or something and I didn't know it. In Norwalk tonight, desperate for an air filter for my new used air purifier, I had tried several times this past summer with the men of Home Depot asking for help and got no where, so did my own research. Came across Jake in the air filter aisle whom I was referred to by a very sincere nice and helpful employee, who actually walked me over to Jakes aisle and later followed up. I mean, he was really wonderful and above and beyond. A real genuine person and you can tell a good employee wherever he chooses to be employed. However, Jake, wow, what the heck, he did not want to help me from the start. He trurned his back to me and stiffened right up when I said excuse me. You know what, my bad, I shoulda ended it right there, I should have known better. I was desperate and He was delighted to nail my ass to the wall any time I tried to get a word out. As I stood there with a bandage from a recent blood draw and hospital wristband, he dissected me word by word, letter by letter, arguing in a monologue of some sort, instead of just trying to help me. After he insisted there was nothing available that I was looking for, I agreed with him and said well then he must be done with me. When he ran away to go tattletale on me for god only knows what for, I looked on the several rows of filters he said didn't exist and found exactly what I was looking for. Why do I feel like if it were another baby boomer male customer, Mike in Jericho and Jake in Norwalk would've never have treated their male customers that way? I really can't picture Mike in Tool rental in NY yelling in an accusatory, abusive manner at another baby boomer guy, "I am going to tell you the way things are done around here." Not at all, it was much more fitting for the likes of Mike and Jake to take out their frustrations on any nonsmoking minding their own business female born in the 60s and on that dares to walk or call upon their Home Depot territory. I ended up not being able to buy it after all because Home Depot doesn't take Apple Pay and the store was closing. This review is specifically in regards to the customer service. The products and facility is on par with the other franchises. So none of that stands out there to be reviewed. Again just the customer service. I don't understand why the customer service in this facility lacks so consistently and why this hasn't changed in so long. The working environment must be miserable for the staff to be so rude and dismissive. There are good managers and staff here and there but the bad ones overshadow the good ones. A necessary evil. I've spent thousands at home depot over the years and every time I go I tell myself, "this will be my last trip here!" Well I keep going back. Why? It's close, they have everything, and prices are good. But the. why the low rating? Service - or should I say lack there of. It's impossible to get help at this store. One time I went to lighting department, asked around for ~10 mins and kept getting passed around. Finally found someone and they only had time to answer one question then vanished! Quality - big box stores are good for some things. Buying lumber is not one. The twisted 2x4 you will get here is laughable. It's also a complete mess in most departments. Home Depot seems to have really gone down hill. Maybe it's just this location, but I've never needed to stand around for this long simply to pay anywhere else. After 10min of employees looking at me while the shelf check out shouted "customer assistance needed" because of an item not scanning properly I left. This place is always a shitshow. Their curbside pickup never works. After making my husband wait 2 HOURS for a curbside pickup of a grill that we ordered disassembled, he was told they only had assembled ones. That would have been helpful to know before wasting our Sunday waiting, seeing as the assembled grill wouldn't fit in our car. Not to mention customer service is non existent, when you do happen to find someone to help you in store you have to chase them down the aisles to help you and they are never happy to do it. read more

This is not a bad home depot at all, they have covered parking and it is a super huge store! I dont know alot about the stuff here, but I do know that whenever my Dad needs something they always have it in stock. I recently purchased a pumpkin here for halloween and it was very nice quality and only around 4.99. Customer service is very good, I have never seen an employee on the floor who did not know about the items in their section. Today we came in and my dad needed some plumbing equipment. There was not any of what he was looking for on the shelf, but when he asked the man working the aisle he was able to pull it out of top stop very quickly. The cashiers are not always the friendliest, but if you go to one of the many self checkouts you can easily glide right past them. read more

I went to Home Depot to purchase a refrigerator during the Black Friday sale. It is a Whirlpool fridge 3 door I thought it was a great deal. Upon delivery the ice line was not delivered. A week later a clip that hooks the shelves in broke and we had someone come out. When the guy came out he told me point blank these refrigerators are cheaply made. Now this is going to make his 4th trip out and he said he's not coming back out. I called Home Depot and they told me after 48 hours they will not accept returns. I called the manufacturer and they said they will only replace the fridge if it doesn't cool. So now I have faulty shelves and a door that's more fragile than my toddler. Curbside pickup has been super important to us during Covid times to socially distance ourselves. We had a very unpleasant experience with this curbside service at HD yesterday. We did the online check-in when we arrived. There were no employees anywhere in sight. After sitting in the car for 20 minutes, I had to go inside the store - something I was trying to avoid doing - to see what the heck was going on. Ten minutes later my order came out (mind you it was one small box, not a huge or heavy order). I understand that staff is busy and overwhelmed but 30 minutes to fetch a small order seems a bit excessive. I highly recommend having someone outside to support curbside customers or just don't offer it. Other stores have this down to a science, get it together. read more

After waiting patiently for assistance in the flooring section for more than 20 minutes, where only 1 person seemed to be available, she attempted to speak with the floor supervisor, and then on duty store manager. First, they claimed to be unavailable, then spoke with her in a way that confirmed their lack of competence and, even worse, their total absence of understanding about customer service and relations. This is a repeat performance of unprofessional conduct that we have encountered multiple times at this location but, it will be the last. Came this morning for kid craft day! 5 stars for community and children involvement with a STEM like activity! ZERO stars for the rude young woman handing out materials. One was annoyed, telling people "grab it", and gesturing towards the packs, while the other was texting on her phone. With the first interaction, it was clear one was being inconvenienced by having been distracted from her phone to actually do her job. Not a good experience with the workers on this day. They also have a two floor parking deck, but I usually haven't had any issues finding parking on the lower level. I had verified that the item I was looking for was in stock online (which is a nice feature, they even tell you what aisle it is on) and I was in and out pretty quickly. Never order doors from Home Depot! We ordered interior doors and every single one came damaged. Of course this was noticed after every door was hung. Cracks in the doors, bubbles and unpainted even though we paid a pretty penny for them to be finished and painted. What's even more frustrating is that no one from Home Depot seems to want to help. Several calls to management were made and we're still waiting to hear back. A few doors had incorrect parts ordered so we have to wait several weeks for those to come in. Unreal. They have no problem billing us for incomplete work though. Shame on you Home Depot. Very unhappy on how the whole sitauation is being handled. Today I experienced the meaning of true customer service. I ordered a BBQ 2 weeks ago and wanted it assembled. They have limited staff to do assemblies so it took a while. Today I called and it was ready for pickup. I asked about delivery when I ordered and they said no problem. At a cost of course. My husband went into the store today to pay for the delivery and was then told nope no can do, you are in NY and we don't deliver from here in Connecticut. My husband spoke with a manager and she said she would handle it. They just left, the made a special delivery here for us. The old saying you can more bees with honey then with vinegar. Antonio in Garden is why I keep coming back to this place. He is exceptional!!! It hsppens. I bought a ridding mower to do my leaves after my Poulan Lawn Mower died agsin. I trust Ariens and The Home Depot had them 1/2 off where as Lowe's was new and didn't have left over inventory...of course I checked. When I got the tractor home there was no steering wheel. I called Norwalk Home Depot customer service and some moron named Yogi said "well how come you didn't notice the steering wheel was missing before you got it home?". Well the tractor was stacked 25' up in the air, in a crate and wrapped in plastic! Maybe if you have a memorable name like "Yogi" you shouldn't be such a smart ass. Anyway, once again, department head Antonio came to my aid. First he looked for the missing part and when it could not be located he swop ed out my tractor for another in inventory, upgraded my unit and sent the Home Depot truck and crew to pick up my tractor and drop off the new one complete with steering wheel the very next day! A rating of one really isn't being unfair to this store.. I'm standing here now in store while a guy who obviously doesn't care does as little as he humanly possibly can to resolve the issue. The latest balls up by this store involves me driving 10 miles to store to pick up an online order, only to get home and open the box to find several items in there, but none of the items I had ordered!! Relaxing Evening ruined - back in the car and another 20m round trip to go back because of their errors. What made it more annoying is I called before I set off back to the store and somebody promised me to resolve it all before I arrived back and give me a credit... Well, here I am waiting. In the end, I got my order after lots of confusion but was refused a credit for their mess up. I've had other serious issues with this store - I ordered kitchen cupboards last year and 3 were delivered with cracks which took 3-4 weeks to replace meaning I had to release the contractors hired to install them and still pay them a fee for their time wasted.. As you can guess, Home Depot didn't seem to care at all when I asked for compensation. I know it's hard for us all to not use Home Depot as they are accessible and cheap, but my advice is to avoid the Norwalk store.. It's poorly managed and the staff obviously have low morale or customer empathy. read more

Had an experience about a month or so ago where I walked in and the door greeter that is there , always greets me and is very pleasant. She asked me what I was looking for and directed me to the correct isle. I found it but it was a few shelves up. I was in a hurry because the equipment for a job. She radioed for assistance and I wanted 20 minutes and no one came. She physically could not grab a ladder and wheel it over so I grabbed one myself and got the equipment down myself and went about my day. The greeters service was excellent and I love seeing her when I go there but her co workers let her down by not responding appropriately. read more

Use for the supplies, but not the service. Pro: Large store with lots of stock. For small projects, they have many supply choices. CONS: not so great on connecting the dots on big projects. The installation looks OK, but getting there contained an unexpected hiccup. CON: the 'teaching' part of "help-you" seems to be missing. Big projects, need time and thought with the customers. Time and discussion with customers who may only install one floor or install one appliance in their life, and don't know all the details of what else they may need to complete the job. Home-Depot-Hiccup: Our installer arrived before all the parts were on hand at the job site. HD Norwalk sales staff should not have sent the installer to the address before all the parts were on hand. That was a big error that cost the installer half a day to stop work, and get the parts at HD Norwalk than return to the job. that half day of lost time cost the installers next customer also, because the one-day job turned into a two-day job. CON: their discount installers are really the budget third party installers who might not (ours didn't) have any additional supplies on their truck for the items that were short or overlooked during the purchase. The person who measures for home depot only does measuring. he is not the same company as the guy who eventually came to do the final install. Communications are not great. On our job, HD Norwalk hired a man from New Jersey to do our flooring install in Stamford. For customers who want a full install experience with a final view that everything is complete, with someone by name to return to in years later when you might have problems, use a local carpenter or plumber you select, not the installers or the measurers that HD could never track down later. IF you are willing to make numerous trips back and forth to the HD to get one or two or several more pieces as the project goes along, this Norwalk store has a huge supply of things. But I'm not sure they had the thing we needed, which was a full plan of delivery before the installer arrived. Our main issue was that the sales team was just that selling the products, not the connected installation. The installer that Home Depot selected arrived before all the parts were on the job site, so could not even start the job. Thinking on this, and reading other problem comments, the HD reputation sort of rests on their disconnected business arrangements with their installers. Since he arrived from New Jersey for our Connecticut home, should there be a problem, whom would we call? HD Norwalk, or the installer that HD selected, from new jersey. If you are thinking that the install will be done by a Home Depot employee from your local store, think again. The installer may be a third party from out of state. That was our experience, and it just leaves this cloud over the whole project. When and if I do another big job that we are considering, I'll ask many more questions of the salesperson about all the mini-details, the delivery, the steps, the extra parts, who buys what, who brings what, who will come and install, and who do I talk to a year or many years after the installation. (after all, flooring and some other products come with very long warranties). Moral of the story is that if you can tolerate numerous return trips to HD and be your own contractor, managing Home Depots several different people who measure and sell and estimate and install, than HD may be for you. But if you want one 'belly-button' nearby to do the job and follow up, consider another (more expensive) approach. I guess you really do get what you pay for, and you get the parts that you plan for. With a Home Depot approach, our experience was that the budget installer provided good craftsmanship, but had no supplies with him to handle any variation. read more

Horrible service after purchasing an $800 Weber Grill that was either faulty or assembly incorrectly by someone in their store. I purchased the grill from them, and they assembled it in store. I took it home and upon it's first use the ignitor only worked on 2 of the 3 burners. I called the store, dealt with an automated machine for several minutes, only to then have someone seemingly pick up the call and immediately hang up on me. So I start the calling process again. I finally get a human being on the phone, I continually get put on hold longer and longer(it honestly seems as if they are just trying to get me to give up and go away). 25min into this call with endless "can you hold please". Eventually I get to a manager, and the best solution they have is "oh just bring the grill back and we'll get you a new one". If we were taking about a nail gun, or belt sander or something ok.... this is a freaking grill! It's not the most convenient thing to just "bring on back in". Oddly enough as I write this is reminds me of a faulty belt sander they sold me earlier this year. Fortunetly, returning that for a replacement was feasible, but it appears they have a lot of faulty products over there. Lowe's will get my business from here on out. read more
