My husband and i stopped in the Home Depot Store in Oswego tonight. We popped in to get rope and found a great Halloween item that we wanted to add to our (my) ever growing collection. Home Depot, what would I do without you? From appliances (long story from a previous review in Wisconsin Rapids), lawn mowers, power tools, mowers, chainsaws, plumbing and flooring. Your aisles make home improvement look so easy, sometimes true, other times not so much. You make me want to channel my inner Tool Time. Sometimes my projects have turned out like Tim the Toolman Taylor did them without Al Borland there to bail him out. My lovely bride a huge fan of HG TV, is always the optimist. She has another project for me, flooring. (If you're reading this review and are scratching your head not getting these references, Google the 90's TV show Tool Time) So what started out as a trip to look for a new chainsaw (hockey mask optional) has turned into another addition to my never ending honey do list. As you can tell, we have many samples to sort through. Once Connie decides on which sample she likes, it will be time to place an order. The staff has been extremely helpful. They have showed us what tools we can either rent or purchase to complete the project. They even gave the option of getting an estimate from one of their installers to see which option would work best for us, do it yourself of professional installation. Once I decide..... ok, who am I kidding..... my wife decides which option we/she decides on, I'll update my review. I like Home Depot, in general, but this review is heavily steered toward their curbside pickup experience. In a nutshell, if I was anything like my experience I'd suggest you just don't do it. I checked in twice, waited 30 minutes, made a call, and it sounded like no one knew what was going on in there. Another 10 minutes pass and the gal who eventually arrived readily admitted that the system is "glitchy" and there was only one guy monitoring curbside pickups and he didn't notice. I did appreciate the apology however. So... two problems. Glitchy software and employees not paying attention. Seems like we figured it out, but here comes the hard part. Ya gotta fix it. I dunno.. I just hope someone learned something so small issues like these can be avoided by others. read more

They should be ashamed. How hard is it to deliver an item that you pay for? I placed an order on a Tuesday and it said it would be delivered the next day for $35! Why deal with the hassle of going to the store and stressing out - I'll just pay the $35. Wow that's a mistake! Wednesday rolls around and guess what... now delivery says Friday. Why? Oh one store didn't have it and now another store needs to deliver it. Ok fine. Friday. What's my delivery window... 7 am to 9 pm. Are you kidding me? I know we should be at home but you expect me to sit at home for 14 hours? Is this some sick joke? Now I called 3 times before Friday to get a straight answer as to where my freezer is. I am told I will be told the day before roughly when they show up. This never happens. Come Friday I wake up early and make sure the phone is on me. I wait till morning as I get no calls and I ask roughly when the product will come and I told most likely early afternoon. I am assured they will call 30 min before. So again I sit at home waiting. 5 rolls around and nothing. I call again and am told well you're window is till 9 and the guy did take it to deliver it. Ok... I wait. 8:45 rolls around. No call no freezer nothing. Now the store is closed at 8 even though the delivery is to be made by the store till 9. I check the status of the order - delivered! Really? Nope. Says it was delivered around 7. I look around our building 3 times. Nothing! I now have to call the main line who tells me to hold for a supervisor. 85 min go by on hold. 85 min!! Are you kidding me? No check ins on me. I hang up and I'm done. All I want is my freezer. How hard is it for a retailer to deliver a product they said they would deliver on time? I didn't give them a problem with how I paid - I didn't make it a hassle - why are they putting me through hell?! I will NEVER order anything from Home Depot online nor will I visit this location ever. This is a disgrace! You would think people care about their jobs and making sure I. This stressful time that people do their best to make the whole process smooth but that's not accurate. Shame! read more

Home depot remodeled our kitchen.It took over a year and still is not finished correctly.There has been issues from day one. They said the job would be 3-5 days.They installed a cabinet up side down,tried to hide the mistake,and compounded the mistakes one after another. we were without plumbing for 6 months.no countertop.It was a terrible experience.So many people in and out since July of 2019 till this date .I started painting finally and saw the crown molding.omg.A square,level,or tape measure were not used for this job.I will show you in a picture..There is a lot more ,But I am getting bored writing now..Back to writing to the BBB.Be warned ,Home depot is only as good as the contractor they sub the job out to. read more

I went to look around for inspiration. Literally it's was extremely refreshing to go in different areas of Home Depot and get asked if I needed help. All the workers there were very friendly, sparked a conversation with me, and it wasn't that weird "do you need help" it was genuine. Customer service still exists! Bruce from deliveries was extremely helpful in the lumber department. We had been to Me arcs the day before and their wood was crap. Upon arriving at the Home Depot kids were building and pounding next to Us and Bruce was nice enough to grab a ladder, ask what sizes we needed and got us on and out working efficiently with my husband to find the perfect lumber to build our deck. SINGLE WOMEN BEWARE! I purchased a new washer/dryer during the Memorial Day sale, with delivery/installation and even paid to have my old ones hauled away. The middle aged delivery man asked me uncomfortable and inappropriate questions during installation. "Do you live alone?" "Roommate a boy or girl?" "Are you single?" "Do you work from home?" "Did you take today off for this?" And kept going on about how I should get a husband and that I'm "such a nice girl." After blocking me on my stairs he pulled me in for a hug and kissed my neck. I was alone! Feeling unsafe in my own home! And now Home Depot has handed off my case to the "shipping company" XPO who has yet to contact me in any way! I put my faith and money into Home Depot to be sexually harassed by someone who now knows I filed a complaint and knows where I live. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I will NEVER shop at the Home Depot again. The customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. I need my new fridge installed. They came to install in and said there was no water valve shut off. They came again and said the couldn't shut it off. We called a plumber; paid $400. I called and had it rescheduled for September 9th. The woman on the phone was very rude. Today I'm waiting and waiting for a phone call. Nothing. I call Home Depot again. They put me on hold for 30 minutes. The woman in the phone kept talking over me. She said "oh well it looks like it was scheduled for the 30th" WTF. why???? Why would I schedule it for the 30th I bought this damn refrigerator in JULY. I'm just now getting it and I'm have to jump through hoops to just get it installed. Now it's rescheduled for the 16th. That should not have taken an hour to get it rescheduled and on top of that they didn't do anything to fix this issue. They should have someone come TODAY. ASAP. Never again Home Depot. Not one to complain but thought everyone should be prepared if making special orders at Oswego Home Depot. Back in May 2020 I made a huge special order at the beginning of COVID and quarantines. I was told 3-4 weeks for my order to arrive, with COVID affecting all of us I did not realize that 2 months had passed and NO confirmation of my order arriving yet. So i reached out and was advise still waiting on some pieces. This went on for a few more months and still same reply. Then winter hit and its to cold to do my project, so I back off and waited. Then one day I get a call from management stating my order needs to be picked up and that its been sitting here for 8 months. You need to pick up or we are going to charge you a restocking fee. So I laugh at this and explain that Ive been calling to pick this order up for 8 months and have been told its not ALL in. So I go in to pick up my order and its ONLY like 1/2 there. I now paid for a semi truck and left with nothing. What happens next is mind blowing-I made a stink with management and customer service and they agreed to reorder my missing stuff. Its been almost one more year and I still dont have my stuff. Supposedly my order had come in and been checked in by management and then 2 days later stolen from the store. This has happened more than once that why management personally checked the order in and verified the order came in. But I still DONT have my order. Now new management says they will make me a refund on missing items because the prices have changed so much that they won't honor what was ordered originally. Its been almost 2 years and a bunch of false promises from Home Depot. I went to Home Depot thinking it was a secure big box store rather than a local small business that the pandemic might have wiped out. One more thing don't rely on them returning calls or emails. read more

This Home Depot played a game. We were at this location earlier last week, & we saw a sign next to the Palm plants that said "3.25 Palm Sunday". We were so excited for the discounted palms. So we came back today, on Palm Sunday & picked up a plant. But we got the register & the price came out to 14$ which, obviously, was confusing. We asked a worker & they were confused. We showed them the sign & they said "oh that's just the date" Why would Home Depot put up a sign like that? It advertises a false sale, essentially. We were very disappointed. I went to the store in Oswego, IL today to get some information about replacing most of the windows on my house. I went to the Windows dept. and looked around at windows until the woman finished helping another customer. She noticed I was there, but never spoke to me. When she finished with the customer, she walked away and spoke rather loudly (as if talking to somebody). I am hungry and need to eat. I was left alone in the section. I guess the store is not interested in people shopping for windows. I went to the service desk and had to wait for someone to get there. I told that person what happened. She asked if I would like her to find someone. If that is the kind of customer service I can expect before I make a large purpose, I can only imagine how bad it would be after they got a sale. I have had great experiences with the home and garden and grill section and with the kid's workshops, so I don't think the problem is store-wide. However, in my opinion, that kind of treatment for a potential customer is unacceptable. read more

The employees in this place are useless. Either they direct me from person to person to get help for anything or they can't do anything themselves. They get orders wrong, can't help customers with warranty issues, products that have warranties mean nothing to them and don't cover anything so you still have to pay out of pocket for repairs. When they are confronted about the warranty, they change the reason as to why they won't cover it even though it's not stated in any literature as to why they won't. Even if you follow all the guidelines for the warranty to be covered. Was completely mis led and deceived into buying the lifeproof/petproof carpeting with so called amazing warranties. They won't cover anything even though guidelines are met that they lay out. Wouldn't cover separating carpet from under metal transition strip, stated it was wet from shampooing. Nobody can tell if that is wet without uninstalling it and replacing it. Nobody will do that. Won't cover anything if you personally spot clean anything, must be professionally cleaned for everything, even spot cleaning for warranty to be covered. Which is not stated in anything they provide you. read more

Went to Home Depot for kitchen design and ultimately ordered nearly $7,000 in upgraded Hampton Bay Cabinets. The whole experience took much longer than promised, the quality of the cabinets was not good and overall, I was not treated well. Initially, I noticed that every time the one designer took a few days off, the project seemingly died. Once we got the cabinets ordered, only half of them showed up and there was no sense of urgency at all about completing the order so I could move forward with the renovation project. Ultimately, they all showed up, but the damaged pieces took over 30 days to be replaced. I had to get a manager involved. These delays cost me several thousand dollars in lost time on a renovation sale. I was offered approximately an 8% refund for my troubles. This didn't even make up for the extra mortgage payment that had to be made while waiting for someone to properly fill my order. Mistakes happen and it's the recovery that makes the difference. Other than constant apologies, there was ZERO sense of urgency by the designer to help me. I wouldn't use this Home Depot's design department again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Typically I won't write reviews for chain stores, however, the service my husband got was exceptional. He went there to ask some questions about hooking up electrical to our hot tub himself. Not having any experience with a job of this magnitude the electricians at Home Depot were so incredibly helpful. Not only did they spend a total of about 6 hours throughout the weekend talking, explaining, showing him parts, etc., they were so thorough and professional. One even offered his personal phone number should my husband have any questions. I was so pleased and thankful they were there to help. With said help, my husband successfully hooked up the hot tub, with no issues, and he couldn't have done it without their help! Not to mention saved us about $1,000! read more

I came in on Sunday (12/11/16) to get some paint, I brought my old can with the info or color match it. went home started to paint saw it was off on the color.My wife went to the store and spoke with them and they said the color was way off, no problem they gave her a new 5 gal paint, said try this one, if this doesn't match bring it back no problem. try it at home did not match. So my wife and I went back spoke with the paint guy they said the machine is off he guessed. But the paint guy said to the customer service desk guy give them a refund. We had the original receipt and card we had paid with. So when my wife came in they decided to put it on a store credit when they exchange the first time the paint. so now they tell me they can't give me a refund just store credit. I explain that did not want a store credit i would like my money back. I have my original receipt and card i used. they said they could not do that. So i ask for the store manager (Damien) came out told me the same thing or I have to wait 6 weeks for a check. I told them they could, just override the command. Damien said that could not be done! Here is the part they did not expect to hear, I used to work for Home Depot a few months back at the one in West Aurora store # 1957. I worked the returns and cashier. So I know for a fact that it can be done. He was just being an a$$ and lazy. I told him that info and that I knew he could do it he said no. I call my old store and ask them just to make sure and they said yes he could override it. They told me to just bring it back to there store and they will fix it. I went the next day and in two minutes they fix it gave me a cash back. What a difference in management and attitude and customer service. I didn't screw up the transaction but yet the Oswego store management did not care at all about fixing it. And by the way the customer service guy Tony was also an A$$, he spoke to me rude and condescending. That would have never happened at the other store, management was always telling us to make the customer happy, say hello and always ask if they needed help. I hope this guy has a short career at Home Depot, he doesn't deserve to be there as management. Gives the rest of the stores a bad name. read more

My review is strictly on the lumbar department. I have come in here a few times with ideas on how to make something, but still needing some guidance. Everytime the employees I have dealt with have been great. From helping me choose the proper lumbar, to cutting it for me and making sure my measurements are correct! We came here to order a new sliding door (we left Menards when we realized the 18 yr old on the floor didn't have a clue). At HD we worked with Glen and Jerry. Both very knowledgeable and friendly. However, we were consistently told incorrect information and when I spoke with the manager she would tell me something different than what Glen or Jerry told us! With winter approaching we really wanted our door and the process took a lot longer than it should have! For example, we were told the store would call us when the door came in. But they took it as their own inventory and after 2 weeks when my husband called they realized they did have it. Two weeks without our new door was very frustrating when we have an awful draft coming into the house. They did at least delivery it for free! If you make a large purchase I would be double checking any info someone gives you. read more

Went back last night for a generalized item, looking for a carpet/matt for a reptile cage... Quite a random, oddball item to find at a hardware store. The guy I spoke to in the carpeting area was super friendly and walked me around helping give me ideas for close to an hour. I kept telling him he didnt have to help me if he was busy doing other things because I didnt know what I wanted and he persisted and continued to help me, going out of his way, digging through stacks of clearance items, tiles, and different fake carpet type items. The staff is friendly as hell, helpful and knowledgeable. I finally settled on some nice 18x18 in tiles, he explained how to cut them to size and everything. This is why I dont go to Menards or other competition. While they have kids working a summer job, you guys have professionals with great customer service that have experience and help you find exactly what you need. They act like they care. I wish I grabbed the guys name. He deserves a raise and a vacation. That man alone will bring a lot of customers back and bring your business a lot of money and business. I drive from Plano to this location, there is a different Home depot and a menards within a mile of my house and I still come here. Keep up the great work.
