Thank you to "BRIANNA" the manager at Paterson Nj location I had an extremely unprofessional and frustrating experience at the Home Depot in Passaic, NJ. My partner and I came in to return an air conditioner that we had purchased earlier the same day, and instead of receiving help, we were met with attitude and hostility from the manager, Carmen. At first, a helpful employee named Daniel tried to assist us. He even pulled us aside and said, "Carmen always causes problems, so I'm trying to resolve this for you myself." That alone should tell you everything you need to know. Carmen made the situation worse at every step and clearly had no interest in resolving the issue professionally. But what made this even more outrageous is that after we left the store, Carmen called our phone and falsely accused us of stealing the air conditioner we were trying to return. This was straight-up harassment and completely unacceptable behavior from someone in a management position. Home Depot lost two good customers because of her. Thankfully, the situation was turned around thanks to BRIANNA, the manager at the Paterson, NJ Home Depot. She was respectful, polite, and went above and beyond to help us. She mentioned that we weren't the first people to come to her store complaining about Carmen from Passaic, which speaks volumes. Brianna genuinely felt bad for us, and unlike Carmen, she showed compassion and professionalism. Even though Brianna's shift ended at 4 PM, she stayed past her hours to make sure everything was resolved -- and finally got us our refund. That kind of dedication is rare and deserves to be recognized. Thank you, Brianna! We highly recommend skipping the Passaic location altogether and going straight to the Paterson, NJ Home Depot if you want to be treated with respect and actually get help. read more

I was lazy and went to Home Depot and a crazy thing happened. I was looking for paint and this woman who said she works there came up to me and asked me if I needed help. At first, I thought I was being punk'd but then I remembered that I'm not famous and that show is off the air. She couldn't have been flirting with me, I'm dressed like a bum and I haven't shaved in days. She helped me find paint and stain specifically for the floor, she mixed paint that was for exterior window and even showed me paint specifically for cabinet and moldings, I didn't know they had paint specifically for that. She made sure I had everything I needed like brushes and masking tape. She explained the differences between the different types of paints and even made recommendations. Although Home Depot is not a 5 star type of place, I was almost going to rate them 5 stars for my experience today until... some lady started asking the lady questions while my paint was almost done mixing. She walked the lady down the isle and I got stuck waiting a long time until I went and got her and asked for her to get me my paint. My critique would be to finish with one customer before you help another. Don't do too much! A simple "I'll help you when I'm done helping him would have done the trick", a " that isle right there, I'll be there after I'm done with this gentlemen" would have been perfection. Let's be realistic, this Home Depot is no better and no worse than any other. People at the registers are helpful but I use self checkout when possible. I've expected not to get too much information from the workers in each department except for the paint section. For some reason, the paint department is 1000% on their game. I have horrible experience today. The manager of this particular store, name Christian is discriminating and conduct unfair act towards me, as a customer. I am a long time home depot customers and never been treated this way. I was there today saw a bathroom cabinet vanity set on the display says 50% off for the display set. There are dents and scratches on the display vanity. I decided to get it anyway since it's 50% off sticker. When I got to the cashier, no one know how to ring it up for the display discount. Then I was sent to the customer service desk, multiple cashiers there tried to ring up and the computer won't allow them to take the 50% off. They called and paged the manager, Christian for many times. He said he is coming soon. We waited more than 30 minutes. Still no managers come or call back to help the cashiers. I went to another cashier desk and ask them to page the manager again. After 15 minutes standing around, this manager finally decided to show up. Again, his name is Christian. He is not even apologetic for the 45 mins wait that me and my husband went through. He is trying to ring up the display and doing exactly what the other cashiers are doing and he couldn't figure out how to get the 50% off. After another 15 mins, he called a cashier (name Keisha) from the self check out area and after she instructed him what to do, he was able to ring it up with the discount. We paid and about to walk out. Then, he told us you can't go, we have to remove the faucet. We were shocked of what he said. We told him, your sign says display 50% off, nothing says faucet is not included. He said it doesn't matter, this faucet is over $100 so they have to remove it. Firstly, the faucet is already installed, so is old. It has no box. It is definitely not $100 as he stated. Secondly, if you want to remove the faucet at the first place, why made us wait for over a hour and wait until we already paid. We waited over 1 hour at this store for the cashiers to figure out how to ring up this vanity display. Not only no one care we waited for that long, now you even false advertising. He forced us to remove the faucet that we paid for. Who runs this store? Why is this Christian even hired as manager? He is here playing games with us or discriminating towards minority customers. We are frustrated on the lack of professionalism, unfairness and false advertisement. We did not want the item anymore. After couple hours later, we went back to the same store. Guess what? The same vanity display was there with the faucet still on. The employee said someone else's name is on it so they purchased it. The employee quickly rolled the vanity to the back room after they noticed I saw it. They are trying to hide the fact that they decided to sell to someone else included the faucet on but will not sell to me with the faucet on. This is completely unacceptable to have discrimination against certain customers. Whoever running this store needs to get your act together watch over this so called manager, Christian. Who refused to sell us the display as advertised but selling to someone else. It was very disappointing. As a customer, you want to get a deal. When you do get a deal as advertised. Some manager came out says no, you can't have it. Then turn around, selling to someone else. This is completely unprofessional and injustice. I am reporting this manager, Christian to Home Depot corporate. The unfair treatment that I got today was humiliating and wasted my whole day. This store manager showing signs of discriminating should be reported to the U.S. dept of labor. Bought washer/dryer 2 wks ago& the 1st team that delivered & installed broke the gas pipe in to the wall. we had a gas leak that is dangerous in the house!! they sent out their "emergency team" DAYS later, & that team broke our water heater looking for the gas outlet!! we now have no hot water!! after sending pictures of the damage & paying plumber, which he couldn't fix the damage, my case is still in review!! they want us to wait a week to see IF approved!! with Christmas coming, & kids coming home, we can't even shower in warm water!! this is ridiculous! wish I knew how incompetent they were from other peoples experience with them it's turned out to be a mess!!! read more

This place gets one star because they had the item I needed. The service was absolutely horrid. Not because anyone was rude but because there was a lack thereof. I ordered an item online and when I picked it up in the store the box was very damaged and he product was partially used ! Upon returning the item the clerk was very lack luster, her attire was unkept, I could tell you about her belly and back tattoos and her piercings. Throughout the process she didn't say one thing to me regarding why the product was being returned, if there was anything else that could be done, nothing. Upon checking out there were NO cashiers available. No checkout lanes were opened and everyone had to use the self checkout. The guy in front of me was buying a LARGE hot water heater and the guy behind me had several boards of large wood. Out of the 4 self checkout lanes one was out of order, and the other was cash only. Luckily the store had the correct product in stock but I don't plan to return to this location. read more

I agree with 100% Mick L's review. I was able to get someone to cut my 6'X 1' pine plank to 3 smaller pieces. I took over 15 mins to get someone to do it but he did it. I only come here for big purchases. I try to avoid driving through the more residential (scary) area of Paterson. read more

Customer Service is pretty good here to be honest we have never had any problems. The sales associates don't run from you at this location, they actually approach you and ask "How can they be of service". The store is neat and organized...and customer service has easy returns. There's help everywhere throughout the store. Now you know when the bathroom is clean I will give the store all the stars they deserve. They have a huge Gardening section with all the materials you need.... Why go to Lowes? Also, they have 3% sales tax.... Now that's worth coming here.... Right? read more

Was returning a Rug Doctor. The two ladies who rented it to me and sold me the solution yeasterday were very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Today, however ... There was a woman in line ahead of me. The man at the counter asked if I was returning the Rug Doctor. I said yes. The woman said she was there before me. I said "I know, he asked me a question, I answered," end of story right? Of course not - this is New Jersey. Another man walked up, got in my face, and started threatening me for talking to his wife like that. I didn't put him in the hospital like he deserved. Calling me all kinds of bigoted names I won't repeat here. If it was just typical New Jersey lacking a backup plan for when their bully act fails, I'd have no complaint about Home Depot. But the guy at the counter kept telling me to calm down and had no priblem with these two starting s@$t or any of the pointless insults they hurled at me. You just lost a 25 year customer. read more

Also before you pay for the pipe you should check beforehand if it right size and go in as you want to . Normally use Totowa Home Depot, but I went to Paterson Home Depot, because I heard they had more stock than Totowa. Spent 1/2 hour waiting for customer service in flooring, when he finally showed up, he was nasty. We asked to speak to the manager, he the manager choose to spend more time talking to the employee who was rude. After an hour of waiting, we finally left and then we were charged 6.625 Sales tax when Home Depot advertises that the sales tax is 3%!!!!!!! I ordered custom blinds from this store. 6 months later and we still don't have our blinds fully installed in our house. First, the girl working in the blinds department (Chanel I think her name was?) spent an hour entering in our order on the computer (should have taken 15 minutes at most). She printed the order out and we immediately noticed mistakes. About five mistakes total on 12 sets of blinds. We had to make her re-do the entire order. Our blinds arrived and were installed quickly by the blinds company they have a contract with. However, the valences that were ordered were incorrect. So we re-ordered them. A month later they come in- SURPRISE! They are incorrect again. We order again, a month goes by before they come in, and they are wrong again. The process happens once more and for the THIRD TIME, they are wrong. The blinds installer went out of his way to make sure the store had the correct order. There is no excuse for the stores negligence and mistake. I spoke to the department manager and the store manager and neither helped resolve the issue. Neither even cared or offered help beyond saying "we will just reorder them." This is ridiculous. Six months of not having proper blinds and valences in my home. No discount or refund has been given, either. Avoid this store at all costs. read more

Absolutely aweful customer service. I spent 20 minutes looking for the epoxy only to find it in the paint section. Even then they didn't have the kind I needed. Then was sabd paper. I needed a sheet of a few different grits. They only sell them as packs of 5 at $4 each. How am I supposed to slowly shape and polish wood when sand paper is so damned expensive? Absolute awful experience ordering cabinets. Original order was placed and were promised to be able to pick up cabinets in 48 hours. We called to find out if we could pick up the cabinets and they said they weren't in the store yet. Waiting for over a week, every time we called we got "maybe the order is delayed, or maybe it's in transit" NEVER a concrete answer. After two weeks we go to the store to find out that Home Depot never put our name on the order therefore, either got shipped back to the manufacturer or put on the shelf for sale. We had to cancel our order and place another. Following that time we have been back to Home Depot at least once a week now since we still do not have all the cabinets over a month later. Our last cabinet was MIA and Home Depot had to open a case on the missing cabinet. Once again, never a concrete answer. The only update we ever received was "sorry for the delay". We are told every time that someone will be getting to the bottom of the issue and no one does. We are furious with the lack of effort and communication. We should not have to drive to the store every week just to get an answer but it seems to be the only way. read more

Why does Home Depot REFUSE to give good customer service? The only place where they even remotely try to help out a customer is the paints section. Anywho, I am building shelves and I needed help figuring out which wood to get for this. As I was walking around, employees passed me by. I looked like I needed help. None of them (even the ones working in the same isle as me) offered any help. I finally confronted one, only to get short answers, rough remarks, and attitude like they were too busy to help. Its SO GREAT going to a store and feeling like you aren't important at all. Even when they gave me some answers NONE of them said "Do you need any help with this?" I was struggling to drag the wood out from it's awkward shelf. The entire time I'm thinking " I'm 6"4, what if I wasn't in the right shape to do this, I could easily hurt myself". I said screw it, no one was helping me, and I didn't want to make a purchase I'd regret. I put the plank down and walked out of the store. I ended up going to Lowes a day later. Everyone was helpful, kind, courteous and informative. We are going there now to pick up the wood we need. How does Home Depot continue along like this? Shame on me for continuing to return to do my part to spend money here which ultimately should assist in keeping everyone employed. Never again. Location opens at 6AM, I walked in at 6:01AM looking for something that was advertised on the a Home Depot app. I simply asked the first worker that I saw to point me in the right direction and you would think that I had just disrespected the guys entire family based on the look and unprofessional tone that I received. I brushed it off because hey, the store had only been open for 1 minute and maybe that particular individual was having a bad morning. Well, I asked the next worker that I came across and he exhibited the same level of unprofessionalism. A negative 1 star rating wouldn't even suffice for this store. This location is the closest to us, there is a 3% sales tax, and we are constantly renovating, yet we choose to go to a further location because it is impossible to get any help here! No one is ever available.....and that's if you can find someone. No one knows anything....the location of specific items, answers to general questions, anything! Upon arrival to pick up a fridge I had ordered two days prior I entered the sales area and was redirected to the customer service desk by a careless employee who seemed like they didn't want to be bothered. When I got to the customer service line employees had their phones out playing music loudly and leaning on desks as if they were hanging out on the block.
