HOME DEPOT A CONTINUNG SAGA OF GROSS INCOMPENTENCE. Again, they do not even rate one stare. In my review of Monday, June 26th I told of this company's complete screw up of a floor installation. Today I will report on the ongoing story of how they cannot even refund my money (around $10,000) without sticking it to me. On Tuesday they picked up the flooring and said they will issue a credit to my credit card less a restocking. This fee will be refunded by check. Yesterday I received a call that I could come to the store today (June 26) and get a cash refund. Great. Home Depot is about 35 minutes away and I had to pick something up about a 1/2 hour north of the store and I could pay for it in cash as I told the guy I would. Perfect. So, I see Kerry at the Pro Desk and, surprisingly, they cannot give me a cash refund or issue me a check. They said they could yesterday but that was yesterday and in less than 24 hours that changed and nobody can fix it. They must contact their "tech people" to work this out some time in the future. This means I must drive 30 south to my bank, withdraw the cash and then drive an hour back north, passing Home Depot, to pick up and pay for what I ordered. The only good news is the guy I was picking up from was way more competent than Home Depot and had what I ordered, living up to his word something Home Depot simple does not do. So, Home Depot has their product back in the store and I have zip. TALK ABOUT THE GANG THAT COULD NOT SHOOT STRAIGHT AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT TAKING CARE OF A CUSTOMER. read more

I needed some plywood for a project I was working on for a friend. However, I own a small Toyota and it wouldn't fit. So, I either had to have it delivered or else rent a truck to transport it. Delivery charges are $80 and several weeks out, so that left option #2. Thankfully, they had a pick-up truck in stock. They won't, however, hold it for you so it is first-come-first-served. Thankfully, I called ahead and the truck was on their lot so I was able to drive over and rent it. The process went quick though I needed to show them my driver's license, insurance paperwork, and have a deposit put on my credit card. All standard stuff. I only needed the truck to drive 7 miles each way, and I had it back within the first 75 minutes so my total cost was about $20. That wasn't bad at all! Their employee, Hans, was super friendly throughout the process. I will point out that HD's selection of plywood here was horrible. Nice hardwoods like birch were non-existent, as were smaller thicknesses like 1/4". That being said, their 1-by lumber was very good compared to several Lowes I had been in. This is all likely due to Covid, so I won't penalize them for that. It is something to keep in mind though. read more

I went to the East Greenbush Home Depot with my Dad to find special hinges for a kitchen cabinet. He was treated so kindly by EVERY ASSOCIATE!! The first person we asked for help was honest and said he didn't know how to help but pointed us to the pro shop. At the pro shop desk we met Michael who listened and patiently searched online for what my Dad was looking for. When he exhausted all his options he directed us to Tim the Hardware Manager. Michael also thanked my Dad for his service - he proudly wears his Army flight jacket and for someone to recognize that meant the world to me. Tim was able to find what my Dad needed and took the time to talk with him about random subjects as well. I love this store and the people who work there. THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME! read more

I went to pick up my chair mat today and waited in the curbside pick up and gave them a call. After 20 minutes I went inside to inquire at the counter. First thing I encountered was a kid that looked at me as if I was bothering him and he said yeah as a greeting. Others there were a little bit more consumer friendly. But I did get my chair mat in about 10 minutes. Oy vey! Good thing he didn't say thank you as he gave me the item. That would have really shocked me and shook me up! read more

Went to North Greenbush location to buy a Ring Indoor Security Camera. Had to go to the girl watching over the self checkout. She seemed annoyed having to get into the locked case. She unlocks the case and a customer at the self checkout yells to her that he needs help. She relocks the case and tells me she needs to help that customer. Hello? What do you think I am? Shouldn't you help me first? Nope, she walked right by me to help the other person. I just walked out in complete disgust. I'll go somewhere else if Home Depot is unable to properly train their people in customer service. read more

BEWARE! The store's great. But when it comes to delivery i would not bother. It was the worst experience I've ever had. Before reading this be aware i have children and pets.-- It took 2 weeks to get a gas range delivered. It got delivered and the three guys left wrap on it and zip ties hooked it up and hauled away my other but left the front door wide open even though they weren't going in and out and almost LOST my cat! He was sitting on the stair of my front porch thank god. Then the main guy told me it's MY FAULT. He saw the cat before hand when he came in the house in the first place. So saying it's my fault was rude. Then the next day i smelled gas. I turned it off and their SPECIALIST TEAM came out to fix it. Taped two spots. Okay. All done. An hour later i smell gas. I give up. Call national grid. The guy never sealed the main gas connection to the stove. Gas was SPILLING in to my house. I called them to complain 2x. Once the day it was installed about the rudeness. Then again after national grid left. They said they would send the team back out to check the gas leak. And guess who never showed up. How much do they actually care about their customers?? Not to show up to a gas leak? To fix their mistake?? The woman the second time was much nicer and even though they gave us our money back for the install and such - i will never purchase from them again when it comes to appliances. Beware! The delivery company doesn't care about anything but getting their money and has no knowledge of how to hook up gas ranges! read more

Did some online shopping for an air conditioner, found a decent unit at the Rensselaer store. Got to the checkout, asked for my Veterans discount, showed my military ID. Cashier said "I can't accept that, you need to go to customer service". I go to customer service, wait on line for 25 minutes (hey, no one has enough staff these days, I get it). I explained that my usual HD store always gladly accepts my military ID, worker says, "well we don't accept that, you need to go on line, we haven't accepted that in years, I can't help you". No problem Home Depot. I went to Lowe's, found a better unit at a lower price, the cashier gladly accepted my military ID and thanked me for my service. I called the store on the morning of Saturday 18th 2021 and the staff was inept and rude.

Spent 2 days painting my porch. With the heat a few places bubbled so I had the paint matched for a quick touch up. This is not wet it's dry paint matched. Great job Home Depot now I have to repaint my entire porch! Bought an Ego lawnmower from home depot. Used it 6 or seven times and then it would not start . Checked all troubleshooting and called Ego. No matter when you call you will not get to speak with anyone. This mower is still under warranty. Finally called corporate and just got the run around and transferred back to same non answering number. The mower was sent to them by home depot. That was 8 weeks before we contacted Home depot again. Home depot stated Ego has not been fixing any mowers. I purchased a Washer and Dryer set (Samsung) and paid for the delivery/hookup and new hoses (etc.). So they come and don't have the right length hoses, don't have anything basically. They only had a 2 foot (yes only 2 feet, not kidding). So they ended up using the old washer hoses (which they are not supposed to do). I rented a stump grinder from the rental shop The teeth were worn down so I called them to complain as the unit was not cutting at all I was rather put out as I live 45 minutes away They drove out a new set of blades and installed them And extended my rental time They made the best of the situation When I returned he unit the rental manager explained the new internal procedure for that grinder so that this would not happen again....which is great to see an organization working to improve on their flaws read more

I have spent thousands of dollars with this location of Home Depot. They are horrible. The straw that broke the camels back happened over a blind installation. 2.5 months ago I went shopping to blinds and was talked into having them installed for an additional fee. I thought it sounded like a good idea. Fast forward 2.5 months later and nothing. They use Brent Stevens Contracting for this. There is either a lack of communication between the two companies or something else going on. Either way I will no longer shop at any Home Depot ever again for this experience. (There were others at this store - trust me - spend your money elsewhere) HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Never once had a positive experience here. read more

If your thinking about getting a new kitchen countertop don't do it at Home Depot . On 9/27 purchased a kitchen countertop to be installed ($3000) then waited 3 weeks for Stoneworks of Newburgh NY to come to do a template. 20 days later I called about when will they install, I was given a date 10/28. I called on 10/26 and 10/27 to confirm was told yes. On 10/28 Stoneworks call and states that they have already installed the countertop ,and are not coming I made I don't know how many phone calls to try to fix this. New date 10/31 installer show up unable to install because the sink (which they supply) hole is cut wrong back to Newburgh. I now only have a bathroom sink to get water. Two more days go by before they show up to finish the job. Through this ordeal Home Depot was of little help Stoneworks where just horrendous to deal with. read more

Went to the North Greenbush Home Depot 2/12/20, I had to get some lumber, and wanted it cut. The saw we needed was broken, again, but that's another story. Both men working in that area were rude, and not wearing masks. With all the signs posted about wearing masks, it's shocking that more than one employee disregarded the signs. This is so disappointing that management doesn't take this more seriously and enforce it. read more

Last visit was an awful experience. Stopped in for cabinet hinges and while I noticed 10 staff just standing and chatting, not one walked up to assist. When I asked for help, they one lady employee was so rude and bothered. Have been going here since they opened for 17 years. It's too bad. Called about my water heater warranty. The guy in plumbing is who they transferred me to. He said to just bring it in and they will swap it out for me. So I disconnect it , empty it and head to the store. When I got there I was told by the customer service desk that only some of the cost would be covered by warranty and that I would have to pay a difference based on depreciation. This location has changed the store manager within the last year or two and what a differnce in quality. I'm not upset over the policy I'm upset over the lack of consideration . First of all educate your employees on how things work and second of all if your employees tells a customer something it should be honored. But in the end I paid for it and the assistant manager that first came over was arrogant and dismissive. He said he would take another $50 off and walked away like that was it he has spoken. There are still a lot of good employees in this location but management is not as good as it once was. read more

The layout if this store is backwards in comparison with all other HD stores I've been to, making it tricky to find what you're looking for. The appeal of box stores is supposed to be that they are all the same no matter which one you go to. read more

Our experience with CARPET purchase, delivery, and installation from this Home Depot (N. Greenbush, NY) and their sub-contractor was simply a blatant BAIT & SWITCH and the most fraudulent consumer experience this family ever had. First off, we visited and consulted with their Flooring personnel until choices were narrowed down to 3. Samples were ordered. Huge delays on delivery of samples, but we kept getting 2-3 calls a day from HD Flooring Sales Dept. to place the order. After a couple of weeks waiting for samples over the mail, we called and were informed by HD (Donna, Bill) that the samples delivery system had problems. Samples finally showed up in the mail when it became clear that we would not place the order without obtaining samples of the carpet material. Based on samples finally obtained, decided on color and (top) quality and placed order (several thousand dollars). The installation date was then scheduled with their sub-ctr. The day before the installation, and while we were in the process of moving furniture and cabinets, etc... the sub-CTR calls that the carpet is on backordered. HD NEVER contacted us for a revised delivery date. After some discussion, the installation date gets rescheduled for 3 weeks later. The day of installation the sub-contractor shows up with a carpet labeled as the one we ordered but CLEARLY not the color, quality, and specifications we ordered. Even the Installation Crew remarked that the carpet they were handed to installed in our house is the carpet they install on low-rent apartments and that this was nowhere near the same as the sample we had. We stopped all the work and proceeded to HD where we asked to talk to Scott Raymond, Store Manager. In comes the "Acting" (as expected), Jeff. After some discussion, Jeff brings in the HD employee that placed the carpet order. We showed this person the sample of the carpet we ordered versus a sample of what was delivered; obviously not the same color, quality, or material. He proceeded to state that if the carpet was LABELED as such then we had to take it and there was NO WAY he could reassured me that, if reordered, we would obtained the top quality carpet they provide on samples. This is a BLATANT ADMISSION OF BAIT & SWITCH and of the poor Quality Control HD exerts on their suppliers. It became obvious then the reason why obtaining samples PRIOR to placing the order had been so cumbersome and problematic. Jeff (A/Mgr) quickly interjected and agreed to returned our money. We walked away from the store and, while ready to leave at the parking lot, Jeff approached us and gave us his personal apologies because of the way we had been treated. I would never, ever trust nor recommend HD Flooring personnel at the HD North Greenbush for consulting, nor for any major installation on our home. The fact they sell you one thing and delivered another is a FRAUDULENT practice they (Bill, Donna, Patrick, Scott) ought to be ashamed of. read more

My elderly mother bought Martha Stewart Living Beekman II carpet from Home Depot (manufactured by Shaw) for her family room in 2011 and then bought more of the same for the rest of the downstairs, stairway, and upstairs hall in 2012. Around 2013, discolored areas started becoming noticeable throughout. These areas have continued to get bolder and new ones keep appearing, indicating that whatever is causing the issue is still present. At this time, all of the carpet purchased from Home Depot have this discoloration and include spots, blotches, and stripes, and are all the same orange/gold color. There are three other rooms and a bathroom that have carpets that are between 20 and 30 years old and none of them have any kind of stain or discoloration other than normal fading. In fact, in the 53 years that she has been in the house, NONE of her carpets have ever done what the Home Depot carpeting is doing. She tried to get service under the 'lifetime' warranty in May 2014 and again in Feb 2016. Both times Home Depot and Shaw sent out 'certified' carpet inspectors who could not find any indication that the consumer had done anything improper. There was no change in the PH (7.0), no change in water repellency, nothing under ultraviolet light, no change in fluorescence, no odor, no solvent or cleaning residue, etc. Nothing at all. And yet, even though the spots continue to appear and become bolder, they concluded that it was site related and consistent with cleaning or bleaching agents. They have no evidence of this, but that's what they blamed it on anyway. HOW ABOUT POOR QUALITY/DEFECTIVE MATERIALS????? Warranties are supposed to cover MATERIALS and workmanship. If there's no evidence of the consumer doing anything wrong, and the problem is still persisting, then the logical conclusion is that there is something wrong with the materials!!! Bottom line is this....DON'T BY THIS CARPET, AND DON'T BUY FROM HOME DEPOT!!!! THE PRODUCT IS GARBAGE AND BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND HOME DEPOT WON'T STAND BEHIND IT!!! read more
