I really did not want to have to write this review but my experience with the customer service desk has just been outrageous. I have been awaiting a call back from a Manager at this location for 3 weeks. I have called Customer Service 6 times already - never once being able to speak to ANYONE because the line gets cuts off after ringing for 10 minutes. I have gone out of my way directly to the store 2 times to try to speak with this manger but for some reason, she seems to always be "offline." When I ask to speak to any other available manager, I end up waiting ONE HOUR before getting told to "call ahead so I don't have to waste time." I even asked one of the associates there to leave a note for her manager to just CALL ME BACK whenever she is working next. I have been calling endlessly. This is frustrating and just ridiculous. What is the purpose of the Customer Service desk here?!? I hope the store can use this review as a wake up call to improve the way they interact with customers - especially via their customer service desk. read more

I have always said Home Depot is my favourite store. Have done a lot of renovations and have used them exclusively. However, I had gone into the store to order a replacement mirrored closet door for my mother-in-law (who is over 90). I was dealing with an associate in the window/door area. I explained what had happened and said we just wanted one door but you are not able to get just one, you have to buy a pair. Long story short, the order was placed as he said based on the measurements I gave him it was a special order. This was May 15. The order was to be delivered to my mother-in-law's place but he couldn't change the address on the order form for delivery from my address. He made a note on the order that it was to be delivered to Delta, but ended up saying they still might deliver it to me. Was to be delivered by June 6th or so. Waited until last week. Tried calling but was on hold over 20 minutes. Finally gave up and went to the store. They looked up the order and said it was marked "done". Not delivered, just "done". They attempted to contact the supplier but was not able to get an answer. Thought they would check the store, and they actually found the order behind the service desk. This after an hour and half in the store, with my 2 year old grandson. The Manager apologized for it and guaranteed that it would be delivered on Saturday morning. Saturday morning my husband goes out to his mother's and waits. No delivery. He calls in and finally after be on hold for 20 minutes or so, was told that it was not even put on the truck. He came back to Richmond and we then went to the store to find out why. The manager I had dealt with on Wednesday said it was a mistake and that he would get it delivered on Sunday, not a normal delivery day. Must also note that he didn't seem to want to talk to me, directed every thing to my husband. So, now we are back out at my mother-in-law's on Sunday waiting for the delivery. It was delivered by a guy with Door Dash. When we got the doors up to her condo, noted that they we the wrong size. instead or two doors 36 inches we were give two doors 18 inches. We ended up taking the doors back with us to the Richmond Home Depot. Again speaking to the manager, he advised us to speak to an associate who was "the best". He said she was in, but actually wasn't on and we had waited another half hour to find it out. Spoke to another associate who said she would start a new order but wouldn't put it through until the other one was in on Monday. Now, back I go today. Speaking with the special associate who figured out that we should not need a special order, because based on the measurements of the actual doors, you have to add about 1 and 1/2 inches to get the opening size. We were never at any point through this whole ordeal asked by anyone about the finished opening size. So now, based on this, we have bought standard doors which they have in the store that are to be delivered on Friday. Fingers crossed. For all this inconvenience I was given a $50 credit. Not even free delivery. Delivery costs another $80 to have it brought to my mother-in-law's condo suite. Everyone I spoke to would apologize over and over. But really, $50 for my inconvenience of having to go to the store 5 times Not to mention my husband spending a whole Saturday morning waiting for a delivery. Not going to be dealing with this store. I'll go to Rona or Lowes if I need anything again. read more

Home Depot is definitely one of the most useful stores out there. They will have everything a handyman needs for anything that needs to be fixed around the house/condo. Parking is never a problem, as they have a HUGE lot. Overall they're pretty good, but there are a few complaints. 1. There are never enough staff. Most times I am here, I have the scour the aisles to find someone to answer my question, or I have to have someone in another department page me. 2. Their stuff is not always the cheapest. This applies to many types of items, such as tools or light bulbs. However, you are paying for the fact they're a one-stop shop. With that said, most of the staff are actually quite knowledgeable. If you get a chance, try the Harvey's. I really wish they had more of these things here. Delicious burgers, and some of the best fries anywhere. read more

This is the home depot located right off the knight bridge when you turn onto number 6 road. Plenty of free parking here. The store is just as big as any other Home Depot. Staff are available but you would need to hunt them down. The location is great if you are doing house renovation shopping. There are many house repairs/ materials/ reno/ appliances stores nearby. So basically stop in one area and you can get all your materials for your reno. read more

I only come to this home depot at Richmond coz you have no problem to find a parking spot in this huge parking lot. They have a great selection/varieties of products for you to fix around the house. You can easily spend over an hour here to check out stuff/tools, they do provide DIY lesson for you to maintenance or repair the home/gardening. read more

I AM RESIDING IN RICHMOND, B.C. and has been so for more than ten years. I am a loyal customer of Home Depot. Over the past three years alone, my major purchases from Home Depot. Included, but not limited to, a self-propelled gas-lawn mower with starter, a shed, and a gas range. My recent experience with Home Depot (Richmond), however, is a great disappointment. It involves deception, indifference and also misrepresentation. Long story short, we were disgusted by Home Depot Home Services practice of "double charges- double dipping" for the installation of the dishwasher. Obnoxious experience! August 6, 1:00 PM I dropped in to pick up an item and proceeded to the cashier to pay. I was the second customer in-line and expected a short wait. At this point, the cashier, an older lady with light-coloured hair, begins chatting with the customer in front of me. The chat turned into a longer conversation that dragged on ... and on! So, I had to stand there, staring into space and trying not to be aggravated. The cashier seemed oblivious to the fact I was standing right in front of her expecting service. As the conversation reached the 8-minute mark, it was obvious that I was not going to get service, even with my money in my hand. At that point, I had to move to the adjacent line in an effort to pay for my item. The second cashier, Sylvia, at least acknowledged my existence. Obnoxious treatment of a paying customer and failure to do one's job is grounds for dismissal. read more

I was trying to pay for a caladium on August 29, 2021 at your Richmond, BC store. The cashier (unfortunately I neglected to get her name, but it was 4 pm in your garden centre) did not ring up the price correctly. My husband offered to bring another plant to her that had the sticker to ring up from the 40+ plants that were on the table all discounted. She proceeded to then say that it's discounted because "it's dead" and the one we were buying was not otherwise there would be a sticker?? What utter nonsense. Stickers are often missed on merchandise especially if it's a mass quantity the store is trying to rid. All 40+ plants were alive and well. We advised her that the plants were NOT dead but she continued to argue with us. We walked out. The caladiums were discounted for the season since they are annuals not because they are "dead." She showed GRAVE DISINTEREST in not only her job but in customer service. It was evident in her body language and intonation. We frequently shop at Home Depot and normally quite satisfied -- this is the first time where we just walked out.  And why would Home Depot sell DEAD plants?  Ridiculous. A lot of people have told me how awful customer service was at Home Depot, but I didn't believe them. I should have. I went to three Home Depot places (dowtown, richmond, vancouver) and they all were horrible. There were so many customer service people not helping anyone, but when you ask them for help, they say they can't and just point you to another customer service. I spent half the time just walking around the place looking for help. When I do find help, they are unfriendly and not helpful. An example ? I asked them to cut a metal blind for me and they say they can't. It seems funny, because the cutter is just right in front of me. Another example ? I asked a cutomer service girl if she can give me the number for another Home Depot store. She sighs annoyingly like she has to do so much work to find the number, when...... the number was just in a sheet in her apron pocket. initially I was a bit frustrated when It called and kept getting the run around. there never seemed to be an associate available. Then I went into the store ( The Home Depot in Richmond) and saw first hand how understaffed they are. The lady in the Appliances division (Velly) was handling that section all by herself. Despite being the only person in that Appliances section, she not only superseded my expectation, but did so in a courteous and professional manner. very impressive. Senior management need to recognize staff like Velly, and also HR has to wake up and shore up the staffing needs of this store. read more

We received some good help while coming in here due to a washroom reno. This one is located where I call 'renovation-road' (Bridgeport) and it's handy as you can go up and down the block and you'll find someone selling something that you can use for the house, or you can come here, and so we did. We already picked out a toilet (crapper) and a vanity (or for those who want to call it a sink) and when I looked again, realized that the two were different brands. The woman that was working in the department allowed us to open the box for the vanity, and we needed to make sure the shade of white was similiar to the toilet. She took some time, but arranged this, by opening up one of their toilets near the stockroom and carting it out and allowed us to see both in their light to see if it matched. Pretty good service on this day, as we also dealt with another person from lighting who found the correct bulbs for a wall light we were planning to buy. As they say, this one has massive parking, usually never full, wide spots, easy to get around, just don't get stuck too late on the weekends to the night market going on in the back where they convert part of this lot as a pay lot for that event. read more

We have had the worst experience buying a fridge. They had to make multiple attempts to just deliver the fridge. The first time the delivery company did not bring enough workers to carry the fridge despite being told the size of the fridge and asking them to bring enough people. The second time they tried to leave the fridge on the porch (exposed to the weather) for the installers to deal with because they didn't think they could fit it through the door (they could have). They eventually removed it from the porch after I complained. they returned later and delivered the fridge, although we have since noticed some damage to a fence that we expect happened when the delivery occurred. We then had to wait more than a week for the installers to show up. the installation was done poorly, not aligned in the cabinetry, pieces bent, and the fridge door no longer aligned. Then they wouldn't show up to do the haulaway despite being paid for it, we had to pay for the haulaway ourselves. We then complained about the installation so they booked a day to inspect and never showed up or even called. It has been the worst customer experience I have ever had. We will likely have to pay a carpenter to fix the damage in the kitchen and make a warranty claim with the manufacturer to fix the fridge itself. Do not go to Home Depot to buy any appliance, they farm out the real work to other incompetent businesses and fail to take any accountability. read more

It's a nice store. Came here today to get some tools to make a home made manual clothe washer. I found all the tools I needed, asked for some help finding something and the employe just pointed me in the direction to go. But personally I think it's better customer service to physically walk me to the item I'm looking for. Because I still had a hard time finding the item that was buried behind other products. We all know that the Home depot has anything and everything you could possibly want, it's kinda a do it yourself heaven. However there is one thing I don't like to do it myself and that is customer service. I was in looking at paint colours for our new bathroom today, and for the most part I am a pretty self sufficient guy but today I needed to get some help. The poor girl behind the paint counter was swamped and I knew that she would not be able to help for some time so I began to walk up and down the aisles trying to find someone... like a painting nomad if you will. I finally found someone and it went like this: Me: can you help me with a paint question? Him: umm thats not my department. Me: can you call someone who works in that department. Him: yeah..umm.. let me go find a fone Me: blink blink.. 5mins go by Him: umm yeah the girl that works there is really busy...sorry and he walks away. So with paint chips in hand, and still no answers I gave up and took my proverbial red wagon and went home. read more

For anyone following my gardening saga ... this Home Depot has an excellent selection of outdoor plants, pots, soils, etc ... basically, they had all the cute pot styles that Art Knapp had, and more. And, everything was 1/2 to 1/4 the price at Art Knapp. I should have started- and finished- here. Yes, it's the giant crazy Home Depot experience and their staff know nothing, but at this time of year, the garden section is filled with suburbanites who are all too happy to talk tomatoes, so you can still get some good help. Oh, Home Depot workshops you get one star for being about as worthy to go to as going to the store on a less busy day and asking a Sales Associate for tips and tricks. All there was in the advertised 1-hour DIY workshop was a condensed 10 to 15 minute conversation that could take place on any given day provided the right person is there. It's poor customer service to even call it a workshop when it's really a "tell me what you want and I'll see how I can help you" lesson. But, don't get me wrong, the two guys who provided this "workshop" knew their stuff and gave sound recommendations. I really have no idea why Home Depot even advertises workshops on their website. They have this so-called workshop registration pretty much as an email grab, I'm guessing. Once I got to the store, I asked the first person at the entrance that I saw where the workshops were and got a confused look. Asked about seven other people where it was and no one else was certain either. Went to the service desk and the woman there wasn't sure either but was smart enough to call someone and tell me, "We're trying to find someone who can provide the workshop." Wow. I know the store was busy on a mother's day but why post that a workshop will be given if there isn't even one organized? I know the workshop's free but if I'm going to schedule time for this and I spend more time running around the store than it takes to find the people to run the workshop and listen to them give it then why bother. So, if you ever think of going to a Home Depot workshop, you're better off doing a search on them busy interwebs. If you're the kind of hands-on person, just go to Home Depot on a less busy day and hope the Sales Associate in the department you need information from knows what they're talking about. On any other regular visit, I would give this Home Depot a higher rating. That will have to wait until another review. read more

I went into this Home Depot on a Sunday morning to have a couple of keys cut. It wasn't very busy so I was able to get help right away. When I got to the key cutting aisle, there was already a staff member there who was able to help me. He was friendly and helpful. He even let me know that one of my old keys was slightly bent and to keep an eye on it before a stress fracture occurs while trying to use it. He also told me to keep my receipt in case there were any problems with the key copies so that I could get them recut right away without going to the customer service desk at the front. I would suggest that you go when it's not busy in order to get the best customer service they can offer. read more

I went in there the other day looking for information about installing outlets in my basement (I don't know home electrical ) I had one guy - that I had to go upto- and asked him a simple question about the topic. You could see that he thought I was an idiot to ask these questions. ... didn't like his character so I left..... The second time around. .I got a other guy and what a difference! He was a older gentleman and he came to me with a smile and from there he helped me from start to finish and then more! I would give this home depot minus infinity. They do not care about you. Even after they steal your money by double charging you, then make you sit around and fight with them for over 45 minutes before they finally give you the money the wrongfully stole from you. I was not offered a single apology even after I told them I haven't received one in the entire 45 minute ordeal. I wasn't offered anything to make up for the 45 minutes of time they stole from me or the 34 dollars they tried to steal from me. The worst customer service I have personally ever seen or experienced. I will not ever be going back to this home depot, and will most likely stay away from all of them. I suggest you do the same. In fact it is pretty much like every other home depot I've ever been to with one exception being the impeccable service I've gotten when trying to find something on my own. It's like the folks here have a superhero eye for "He doesn't know where the ____ are." One lady helped us while on her way off to a break. It's absolutely unacceptable to only have 1 person working in the customers service returns area. When there are 5 cashiers open with zero lines. Meanwhile returns has a line of 5 people waiting and the customer service rep is busy with installations for another customer. We waited 15-20 minutes to get some service. We even had to go to the cashier section to ask for service at the returns desk. Where are the managers?? Please train your cashiers to do returns, all we needed was an exchange! It is honestly unacceptable and poor customer service to be ignored and not acknowledged, and then turned down especially when the cashier department was doing nothing but chatting amongst themselves. read more

I have had very good experiencs with Richmond's staff and service. BUT, I have had the most appalling service (and lack of it) from their online store. After waiting three weeks for a shower which could only be bought online, they delivered the wrong model (their mistake, not mine). Trying to get through to customer service (that's an oxymoron) is sometimes impossible and when they answer and say they'll get back to you, they often don't bother! I returned the shower and after another three weeks, received the correct one and then another one! I only reordered for one. I email them my complaints and frustration and they don't reply. I have spent hours and hours trying to get a hold of customer service. Sometimes you get somebody who helps solve a problem and next time you get someone who is totally useless. And they seldom can be relied on to call you back. Once again, the Richmond store is very good. Online, forget about it. My wife and I have been a long time customers at this Richmond, BC location. The recent garage door installation experience has left us frustrated and disappointed with Home Depot. On Nov. 24, 2017, we ordered and paid in full for a new garage door and garage opener through Home Depot. We were told delivery and installation will take between 4 to six weeks, taking into account the Christmas and New Year holidays. Home Depot does not install their garage doors and uses Garage Door Depot for the installation. Took close to 2 weeks and several calls to Home Depot before Garage Door Depot even come to take the measurements. Appointment was set for 9 AM but the technician did not show up until after 4 PM. Wasted my whole day waiting for a simple set of measurement. The installation dates kept sliding from January 15, 2018 to February 12 and then to March 2. Installation timelines went from 4 to 6 weeks to over 12 weeks. Even the March 2 date is not guaranteed and the date can slide further. We escalated the unreasonable delays to the supervisor and then to the assistant manager at Home Depot and asked for their assistance. They tried but seems to have little or no control over Garage Door Depot's delays nor their quality of service. Home Depot advertises that they will "take the hassle out of your next installation. The Home Depot Canada does it all for you with professional, insured installers and guaranteed results" Unfortunately they have failed to deliver on this garage door installation and have left us totally frustrated over the entire experience. After 9 weeks of frustrations, we took up on their offer and got our money back. Now we have to shop for a new door through another supplier. read more

Whenever I do projects I come here 'cause it is closer to home across the bridge. I only come here when I specifically know what I want, brand name and did some price comparisons beforehand. Don't bother asking for help 'cause most staff, unless in specialty departments, are dumber than the door knobs they sell. Prices are hit and miss, however, strongly suggest that on some items to do your homework. read more

Actually I don't really hangout here, I go straight to what I need and get out back to the project at hand. Staff are sparse and usually takes a couple minutes to find one if you needed help. Make sure they're manned at the department you're at otherwise they may not be knowledgeable enough to assist. This location is clean, free parking, has a subway inhouse (greasy Harvey's is gone), tool rental and gardening center is well equipped. read more

Refunded a product for the office and they refunded the wrong amount. Called them and asked them to refund the correct amount to the work visa through the phone as it is a 30 minute drive for a mistake that they had made. Took them hours to comply and their fax wasn't working so we had to keep calling (being on hold for more than 30minutes each time) for a way to send them the receipt. When they finally received it, they left a message that the refunded amount is at Home Depot for pick up when the whole point of this was so we didn't have to drive back there for THEIR mistake! Now I'm on the phone on hold waiting again to repeat myself again again. read more

I discourage anyone whom considering purchasing home appliance in home depot. I've purchased an appliance, and it was one week late when it arrive, and since the shipping companies and manufacturer were not part of Home Depot's any affiliation, all the delegation between these parties had to be done by me, and made the matter worst, the machine was defected, which meant I lived through whole agony of delegating the shipping company and manufacturer. If you think calling Home Depot, and ask them to do it would be lot easier, sadly, that's not the case. They simply would put down an order, and the rest is up to you and the rest of other parties. Cancelling the purchase and refund the product, you said. Well, there is restock and shipping fee you have to pay. In short, I highly not recommend home appliance in this store. read more
