I went to Lowe's and couldn't get any help on what I needed. So, I went to Home Depot. I went to the wood section because I knew I needed some trim for my bathroom but I didn't know what kind. I ran into a young man in a orange apron who saw I was clueless and walked right up and said "hi, I am Luke can I help you find something." I explained what I needed and he took me right over to what I was looking for. He stayed, and made sure I found exactly what I needed and then walked me over so that I could get what I needed cut to the right size. He was really friendly and extremely helpful. I hired them to replace a window and rotten wood around the window as it was leaking into the room below. It took 7 weeks to get here which was okay. They sent someone first who could t do the job. So I waited another week for them to get someone else. The whole time water comes into my home every time it rains. They come fix it super fast. It's still leaking. It leaks less but it still leaks. They send a man to look it. He says someone will come to fix it sometime next week. It's been two months. No one has come. No one answers my emails. Water is still leaking into my house. Do not buy anything from this store we bought a whole set of GE appliances for our kitchen remodel from this store with the extended warranty and we specifically asked the sells man how long is the warranty good for we where told one year manufacturer and three years of extended warranty. This morning the dish washer and the refrigerator quit working called the warranty people and they said we have none it ran out on the on the tenth of the month. The appliances where three years old on the tenth long story short the warranty doesn't run back to back and that is not what we where told when asked. read more

Seen one and you've seen them all. Now this isn't a negative statement as it has its advantages when visiting a store you would not normally frequent. All items are in full supply and associates available throughout the store to be of service. Spend a lot of time in a Depots yet never had an issue with assistance if needed. Online services are great! The comfort of shopping at home and simply picking up the order saves time! Many option available and prices are reasonable for big box stores. Never shopping at Home Depot again! We purchased all new kitchen appliance and 3 year extended warranties November 2017. We were told by the salesman that all of the appliances had 1 year manufactures warranties and then the extended warranties would start afterwards. Today 2 of our appliance started to have issues, so I called to set up service appointments via the warranties. We were informed that our warranties expired on 11/10/2020 and there was nothing they could do to help us. We called the store and spoke to the manager and was basically told we should have read the terms in the warranty paperwork that states the extended warranties start on the date of purchase. Even though it was their salesman that told us wrong, they refused to honor the warranties that had just expired less than 3 weeks ago. Now we're stuck with figuring out the repairs on $2000 worth of appliances in the middle of a pandemic and only one person is working due to COVID. I can go without using the dishwasher but we have to have a refrigerator. We will NEVER purchase from Home Depot again and we have cancelled our Home Depot credit card for any future purchases! read more

This is supposed to be a "hardware" store, but you have to order things like a washer hose online and wait to pick it up in the store when it comes in. If you washer hose is leaking do you really want to wait a few days. If you ask for help in a department, they won't tell it will be 30 to 45 minutes, because the person is out to lunch. They don't match prices from one Home Depot to another Home Depot. Doesn't make sense. read more

Simpsonville store is terrible. No customer service at all .. Zilch! South Pleasantburg Home Depot is actually worse !! So for both stores, I can submit the same comments. Both stores are adequately staffed .. staffed with floor people that know they're not being supervised. What that means is this: they get to walk the floors, sometimes in "party-groups" of four or five joking, laughing and talking with each other while ignoring customers that are clearly unable to find something (like me). The S. Pleasantburg store was the worst. While at the front of the store complaining to an assistant manager about groups of employees standing around "yucking it up" and not helping customers, three employees were standing 15 feet behind me "yucking it up", not helping anyone. The manager made no effort to "put them to work", even after I pointed out to her that they needed to find something to do like "sell - sell - sell". In my days as a manager, I would have NEVER allowed my staff to stand around and joke. This manager just didn't seem concerned. So here I am trying to spend a fair amount of money buying four motion sensor, outside flood lamps that use LEDs and have high-lumen output. But store employees in both locations couldn't be bothered. Managers have no control over their stores. When I retire, I plan to apply to Home Depot so I can show up, shirk my responsibilities, hide from customers and get paid to do nothing more than what I wish and when I feel like it. Their carpet and flooring is over priced and even though it has been more than a month since I put money down for closet organization, still not installed. The latest excuse, it's raining. This is the worst experience I have ever had with this company to date. Went in this morning for 6 4x4's and the aisle was closed for children's finger painting. Went around the back and located the boards I needed, but the two men working in the department were not able to pull them because they were too high up. Last straw for Home Depot. If you buy anything here, make sure you plan not to return it or have your receipt, because, otherwise, they only give you a penny per item you are returning. A friend of mine returned a $49 faucet and 3 packs of ceiling tile. They said since he didn't have his receipt, they would give him the lowest price they had sold these items for. That was reasonable, but would you believe they found each item where they had sold for one penny? There is absolutely no way! That was a lie. I work for a wholesale plumbing supply, and our people know about what they sell stuff for, so that is what we give credit for. We wouldn't sell anything for a penny, anyway. We would just give the customer the item if it wasn't worth more than that. Don't go here, because if they would do that to a customer, they might do anything. read more

Veterans only get discounts on veterans day and if you are disabled. I have a veterans stamp on my drivers license and they would not accept it. This is unacceptable to me that Home Depot and Lowe's do not respect or honor the veterans stamp on the drivers license. I could bring my DD214 with me they said, if I wanted a discount. Terrible service! We went in to get a floor for our kitchen. The dude helping us seemed knowledgeable about the flooring. We received an estimate and were happy. The guy came out and got the measurements today. Then tonight a receive a call telling the bill is like almost $600.00 more. Several added fees that are already clearly included in my estimate in my hand. Then they said out floor had humps all in it, but the buy today said he did not find any? I called the store manager who was an asshole to me. We will go back tomorrow to get out money back for the measurements. Don't waste your time, please look elsewhere. read more

Beware of doing any custom order. I ordered windows in April. I was promised to have them by the beginning of June. The contract states no later than July 11th but the salesman Kevin said the beginning of June. I was getting windows in order to put the house up for sale. The windows never came. I tried to cancel and had the house windows painted when my painter came to paint the house. When I tried to cancel Robert threatened to have me put to collections if I did not pay the deposit. He was rude and disrespectful. He told me the head guy, Frank, would call me. This was June 24th. I thought the windows were canceled. The house is up for sale. I then receive a phone call stating the windows would be installed on July 27th. After several phone calls I finally got the install stopped because I had paid $1600 to have the windows painted since Home Depot had not delivered them when we agreed they would. I would have never agreed to an install of windows the end of July. My goal was to have the house on the market July 4th. Frank finally calls me after two calls to Scott the head installation manager. Frank informs me that it doesn't matter that Home Depot promised June and the contract says no later than July 11th I still must pay the $1400 deposit. Here is the bad part, his response was "Ma'am I have a whole warehouse full of custom windows because of canceled orders!" Well no wonder, the salesman promises a date, they don't comply, and people are unable to install probably because they sold their house like me. Beware of Home Depot. Mayfield Fence I went through Home Depot in Simpsonville, SC to get my fence installed. I'm a new home owner so I'm in Home Depot at least once a week and love this store. I could've paid less and got it done faster but I decided to go through HD because it's reputable and i'll always pay more for quality and professionalism. The only good part about this company was the guy who came and did the quote. It took 6 weeks for them to even make the appointment date. The day of, I get a call saying they may not be able to come because 1 guy is sick. I told them it wasn't acceptable and they came with someone else. Then, after they left I found out that they cut my neighbors underground cable wire. He was without cable and wifi. The woman's response when I called to complain was "well what do you want me to do about it?" And they explained they weren't responsible because it wasn't marked correctly by 1-800-DIG. Of course I have no way to tell since the markings were all dug up. Then a few days later I find a string of huge nails on the ground (the kind you put in a nail gun). Either I or my 2 dogs could've been seriously hurt. My gate also doesn't close all the way on one of my 2 gates. I've asked Home Depot and/or Mayfield to reconcile any of this and haven't heard back in weeks. read more

This happened several months back and its very hard to find on google reviews so I figured I would put it here too. Let me just start with self check out... This is the reason I don't shop at Walmart. So I go to the check out with two 4X8 sheets of plywood, three boxes if staples and a portal and cable air stapler. I stand there waiting and the cashier at self checkout tells me to come over there. I go reluctantly and voice my hatred for self checkout. She scans my plywood and other items. I ask if I can split the bill and told her I had 82.00 in cash and I would pay the rest on my debt card. She says sure and types something into her register not mine then says go ahead with the cash. I voice my frustration again and proceed to put in my handful of bills into the self check out. After putting in 40.00 it won't let me put anything else in and spits out a receipt and 11.25 change. So at this point I think to myself anyone else would just walk out but I'm not any one else.... So I tell the cashier that it messed up and gave me money back before I had put all my cash in. Finally after explaining this several times she calls I'm assuming was a manager. I explained to the manager what happened and instead of fixing my problem and getting me on my way she takes the time to talk to the cashier at length about what she did wrong. Finally she voids my order walks over to the self checkout and takes out my 40.00 I had put in and hands it back to me. Not thinking about the 11.25 the machine had already given me I count my cash to see if I have my 82.00. You know already... I had 93.25. I then had to explain to the manager that 11.25 was theirs. So so far I have saved a ton of money and it's time to check out again... I asked because of all the trouble and the money I saved them by being honest if I could get a discount of some kind. The answer was a flat no. I said okay can we at least move to a register were I won't have to put in 15 or so bills. Again the answer from the manager was a flat no. I know what you guys are thinking (if I was this dude I would have walked and not looked back) well I just got done working a 12 hour shift at a local factory and I live 40 minutes away so the last thing I want to do is go to another hardware store and the home. So I payed and told the disgruntled manager I would not ever be back. ** update I put the same review on home depots web site and guess what? It was denied I guess it wasn't a positive enough review. here is what they said in the email. "Your review is very important to us and The Home Depot community. We appreciate you taking time to submit a review about the #1124 Simpsonville. Unfortunately, your review did not meet our guidelines for posting on our site." Let me just say the review here except the update was copied before I submitted it to the home depot and is exactly what you see here. I guess the truth hurts. ** The mananager did email me back and said and I quote from the email. "I want to apologize for the customer service you received at our store today. I hope you will give us an opportunity to correct our wrongs and encourage you to shop with us again. Please contact us via email or phone at your earliest convenience." Terrible, Terrible employees and customer service at this location. Will never go here for anything again. I'm disabled and was told by a manager that I had to go into the store to place an order for a screen door and could not do so over the phone. Fortunately I had some family visiting at the time so I was able to make the trip, which would've been very difficult otherwise. I go into the store and speak with an employee in their door department who then proceeds to tell me that the screen door I want to order has to be ordered through an 800 number and basically tells me he can't or at least, doesn't want to take my order for this door in the store. Before leaving, I verify with this employee 2 or 3 times verbally at least that I can handle the entire door order and installation job over the phone and he says yes. As I'm walking out I decide to double check this information with a manager. I go to the customer service desk at the front of the store and ask to speak with a manager, I'm very polite about the request and explain i want to verify some information. The four or five employees who had been milling around the front desk chatting as I approached all go silent and scatter as quickly as they can. Eventually a manager is called over who does the whole smiling/polite "good morning, how do you do" routine with me. Very politely, I ask him about what the employee in the door department had told me and the manager quickly responds and says the employee is wrong about the installation, I have to come back to the store and set up the installation job for the door in the store and that I cannot set up the installation over the phone. When I then point out that the employee in the door department had given me wrong information, the manager promptly turns his back to me, talks OVER me and tells me to have a good day. I repeat myself about the employee giving me wrong info and that this manager should go talk with the employee about it but the manager blatantly ignores me and walks away. This manager's name was Robert, I believe. This guy absolutely needs to be demoted and has no business being a supervisor of anything with an attitude like that and definitely shouldn't be allowed to interact with customers. On top of all this, I'm told later that the store's computers are "down" that morning and they can't take my order at all. In the end, yes, I got my screen door ordered, including the installation job and I did it all over the phone with the store. Despite 2 managers telling me I couldn't, one of them being extremely disrespectful to me. Moral of the story: Stay AWAY from the home depot on fairview!! I know I will! read more

After reading some of the other reviews I felt I needed to do my review. I frequently shop both big box hardware stores and really do not prefer one over the other. Both seem to have some help just standing around but also have some helpful, knowledgeable employees. This location is no better or worse than the one down the street or in Greenville. read more

I ordered appliances on 12-31-17 to be delivered 1-17-18. After many phone calls and lots of complaints they were finally delivered 1-22-18. After the installation team left we discovered the refrigerator was not working correctly. I called the store and was told to call GE who told me to call the installation team back out. When I called them they could not come back until 1-30-18. We went back to the store requested a refund on the frig which we received and also received assurance the store would-arrange pick up of the frig. Two days later we called HD to find out when the frig would be picked up and were told no arrangements had been made. Now they say the frig can not be picked up until 1-30, 8 days after the delivery. I called a local appliance dealer on Monday and the new frig will be here on Saturday. I did pay a little more but had I gone to them to start with I wouldn't have had this issue and what I had to spend on eating out would have more than made up for the difference. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage in my kitchen with 2 refrigerators. I have learned several things from this experience 1- don't get rid of old appliances until the new ones are delivered 2- don't order from a company that does not own their own delivery trucks 3- don't ask to speak to the store manager that will not happen! 4- only buy from HD what you can carry out in your two hands. This hold process has been a nightmare save yourself lots of grief and buy your appliances somewhere else! read more
