7/16/19 Having toilet issues at my house. Picked up a universal water pump to replace the old one. Finding the place was easy once I realized I was heading in the wrong direction. I did not see to many associates but the ones I saw, just walked past me except one. He asked if I needed help, but I had found what I needed. The place is remarkably clean. When I entered the store, I heard a young girl asking for assistance on getting down a green rug. This was entirely in Spanish, but evidently I am learning more words to understand what was being said. The checkout process was simple. I saw people at the do it yourself registers and one associate waiting for a customer. I walked to him and got checked out. I started filling out some questions for Yelp. My wife Went in to have a key made and was directed to the key kiosk. They have it strategically placed by the registers. Anyway the key didnt work. My wife went back to HD to get a refund only to be told they dont refund.key kiosk. Why noy? Its in your store! Dont you stand by the products in your store? Apparently not! You have to call an 800 number or form to fill out. 1hr later no response from key kiosk company.WTH HOME DEPOT!! Perpetually understaffed. That this company thinks you can run a store this size with so few people is insane. I don't think I've ever had a specialty employee working when I needed them, except paint. There is no value given to providing customer service in a positive way or doing what they say they will do even when it is in writing. Scheduled a carpet measurement and never received a 7-9am call to confirm window when someone would come. This is in writing on the work order. Spoke to rep at store and was told they are coming at 12 am. In the middle of the night, really? She said yes that's what it says. No understanding that this was in no way a correct time. Then called 855 number for measurements three times and each time was told they would reach out to manager and someone would get back to me shortly. Been up since 6:45 am and it's now noon and no new info. The work order clearly sets expectation for early morning call. I've been a long time customer and will be looking for other options as they consistently disappoint. No one likes their time wasted and doing business with companies who repeatedly do this encourages further poor behavior. Refund being processed but lost 1/2 a day and multiple days and maybe weeks to start over and have the project completed. read more

Never have cashiers at registers. Almost exclusively self-checkout. Employees supporting self-checkout generally focused on their personal phones. Garden center doors closed this Saturday morning at 9:00 am because only garden center cashier is on their break. Literally dozens of garden center customers roaming around outside unable to shop on Saturday morning because one person is on their break. Home Depot, please listen and make adjustments or large numbers of customers will just go to Lowes. read more

Firstly I'm not sure how I missed out on reviewing the home depot until now. Ok...so I will be honest I debated giving them between 1-2 stars. In the many years I've shopped at this location I've gotten ok service generally when I've needed things. Although even finding someone to help you outside of the current pandemic was iffy at best. Today the experience went downhill for a variety of reasons. 1. i went for a few simple items and didn't get all I needed. Mainly I wanted some extra copies of keys made and that didn't happen. Why because no one at the key desk to help, nor was any staff person nearby to help. 2. Self check out mind you for whatever reason Monday after work was busy sort of like going to the grocery store. Well the signage of where you get into the line is not clear at all. A few months back the return line wasn't clear although they've made some improvements. 3. The parking lot...Ok they planted these cute trees at the "end cap" if you will before you cross the street to enter the store. I'm sure there's a technical term but I don't know it. Well they've grown enough that now when you're try to navigate the turn to exit its really tough to see on coming traffic. I'm waiting for there to be an accident. Home Depot, I appreciate you being open during the pandemic and the staff that is coming into work and serve customers but as far as the management running the store, you need to work on a few things to make this place a better experience for your customers. I am so frustrated with home depot I'm willing to go well out of my way to shop at another retailer to avoid you unless its something quick and essential. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service by the roaming staff. My wife went to this location to get a dehumidifier which we urgently needed for a water mitigation problem in our basement. 3 dehumidifiers in stock but two were up in storage. Single floor model was in a destroyed box. She asked an employee for assistance in getting one of the undamaged dehumidifiers. He explained to her that it would take thirty minutes for them to get the dehumidifier down from the upper shelf. She waited 15 minutes then sought out this same employee again and asked him when someone would arrive with a lift to bring the dehumidifier down. He then explained "everyone is busy unloading a truck. No one can help you", walked away, and proceeded to take his lunch break. Relief finally came when I called the Home Depot, spoke to an actual competent employee and explained that my wife has been waiting for 30 minutes, being repeatedly blown off and refused assistance. This employee did arrive to help with the situation. 60 minutes later my wife was able to pay for dehumidifier and leave the store. If you can't find something in this store don't bother asking for help, because the help is terrible! read more

Do not get your appliances at Home Depot. They send out appliances that have been packed damaged and do not want to exchange them or help you out. I received a dishwasher that had no damage to the outside box or the packaging and the door and inside were bent and they insisted I had to go through GE the manufacturer. GE service inspected it and found it had been damaged inside and the whole unit needs to be replaced. I'll never shop at Home Depot again. You pay good money and they don't want to do the right thing. read more

I was excited to see the option for curb side pickup in response to Covid. Unfortunately, the actual implementation was terrible and left me feeling trapped and exposed. I would avoid this place if you were hoping to pick stuff up without interacting. When I pulled into the curb side pickup spot a giant sign contained directions to call a phone number and extension. While calling a worker stepped up to our car window. He had what I assume was a phone in his hand. After some gesturing from the now 2 workers standing angrily at my door I cracked the window and was yelled at for not providing the order number. Apparently following the sign had angered these people. I feel for these young people out interacting with people in the parking lot. I am sure they cannot always maintain social distancing. On the other hand, I have no interest in sharing their risk. It shouldn't be difficult to answer the phone, bring out the order, put it in the trunk and close it. After hopelessly walking around trying to figure out which aisle I should be down I asked a person that worked there to point me in the right direction. They were very friendly and willing to help. I've been thinking about repainting my room but I'm stuck between colors..ugh..and the lady at the paint desk was a great help. Everyone at this location that I encountered was very unpleasant. An item didn't fit in my car and none of the team members assisted me with finding another solution. After waiting in line at the customer service desk "Ryan" was chatting it up with his coworker for over a minute before greeting me and seeing what the issue was. King you this was Christmas Eve. I would never come to this location again. No one truly helped and I left feeling disregarded. I ended up placing my order for pick up elsewhere. read more

definitely the worst Home Depot location I ever been too. there's never anyone available to assist you when you need help. there seems to only be young people working who don't even care about actually working instead just gossiping and laughing. I usually love Home Depot BUT. This store: Rude, not helpful or smart cashier/ customer sales staff here. My cashier had to walk over and ask another cashier about a store policy against corporate policy. The next cashier then called the manager who gave info different from corporate policy. I asked to speak to the manager but was told I had to walk over to the customer service desk. I asked for the manager who wasn't there, so the cashier there called him again and explained the whole thing all over again. Of course I got the same answer and didn't receive the opportunity to explain the discrepancy. I wasn't even given the opportunity to talk to the manager. This is a complaint towards Sterling, VA HOME DEPOT Store's manager/MOD: I have been a ProXtra rewards member for about 5 years now. I purchase thousands of dollars in deck stain every year. Last week, I had an issue with the Paint department handing my crew an order that supposed to be Solid stain, and it was Deck Over. In an effort to get the right product I had ordered, I wasted half of my day trying to return the wrongly provided product and get the correct product I asked for. I understand the policy concerning the tinted paints/stains, however, I would have not thought that it would have been such a big deal to switch a bucket that was tinted since it was the Paint department's fault. We did get to pay for it. However, the Paint department gave us the wrong product and therefore it was their fault. After trying to reach this store directly with no result, I had to go through customer service line and ended up being transferred to the store manager, Oliver. He was well aware who I was because I asked my crew to put him on their phone for me while they were in the store and he refused to talk to me. After I described who I was, didn't even get to tell him what I wanted and he hanged up the phone on me and didn't answer again. So rude and disrespectful! A person such as this guy with no knowledge of customer service, and no decency towards his clients should have no place at the top of the hierarchic ladder of one of Loudoun county biggest HomeDepot stores. If Home Depot has no respect and appreciation for its clients I will take my business elsewhere. Two weeks time, from now, I will stop by Home Depot Sterling. If this Oliver is still manager in that store, that will be my last time walking into a Home Depot store. read more

My husband and I came in to replace a broken kitchen cabinet. We bought the house we are living in from my brother so we had no information except the broken cabinet door. Kate who has a desk by the kitchen department but herself does not work for kitchens did everything she could to try to help us. She was able to pull up the order from a phone number. After that, she got out the cabinet maker books and tried her best to try and figure out wha cabinet was what. She wasn't able to figure it out but she told us if we went to reston where the order was placed they would be able to help. She called reston and made us an appointment. We appreciate her going above and beyond for us when she really didn't have to. read more

Like thousands of others, we fell for the Champion toilet marketing and regretted it. But Home Depot's house brand, Glacier Bay, is the best toilet I have seen in it's class. Saves water, consistently performs, and has the two-button flush that appropriates either 1.1 or 1.4 gallons, depending upon what is needed. I recommend it highly. read more

This is my neighborhood hardware and on many occasions over 20 plus years a source of frustration via the paint department. On occasion there would be a great paint associate, but would soon be gone to who knows where. Well... I have nothing but praises for my most recent visits. Several weeks ago, Alston assisted me with some paint issues... he knows his stuff... very professional! Today I went in specifically looking for Alston for custom mixing. He wasn't available, but while I was selecting colors I overheard Steven working with several customers. I was very impressed, and decided to make my selections with him. He guided me to a paint product that was better suited to my project. He mixed two specialty mixes and a sample for me. I'm anxious to try out this new product. I really enjoyed excellent customer service. Sterling Home Depot is the place for paint!!! read more

I needed a dozen cinder blocks to block my dog from digging under our fence. It is January so I understand why they didn't have the garden section open, but there were four employees chatting in the corner by the cinder block and landscaping rock section. They watched me struggle to put a dozen blocks on my cart and then apologized for not having a cash register outside, but did not offer any help and went back to their chat. I slowly pushed my cart into and all the way through the store to the regular cash register, past four more employees who watched me or were lookin at their phones. The person at the cash register should get a medal because she seemed to be the only employee actually working that afternoon. She made four calls over the store loudspeaker for someone to help me get the blocks into my trunk and got absolutely no response. Finally a man who does maintenance for Loudoun County and doesn't even work for Home Depot took pity on me and helped me load the blocks. Thanks to this gentleman I can keep my dog safe. Next time I will go to Lowe's and see how they do with customer service. read more

I know nothing about water heaters and all I had coming here was a picture of whatever was leaking in my home. Right at the door a very nice and he pointed me instantly into the right direction, it was a busy Saturday but this man was helping each and every customer who walked through the front door. Once I found the correct isle, a very helpful employee instantly saw that I was trying to match a picture to a product. He was so helpful and informative he even saved me $30! I left feeling very confident in my purchase and with a little extra knowledge about my water heater! read more

Please do not use HD for any type of home installation. There is no warranty. You will regret it. I had order a patio door back in July of 2020 and did not arrived until September because of Covid-19. Anyway the installers came in September and installed my brand new patio door. However, two weeks later, there was a big rain during the entire night, and we find out that there was water coming underneath the patio door the following day. I called the HD installers and they sent someone to check it out. They put caulking around the entire frame of the door. Two weeks later, there was another ice/rain storm and water was coming in again. I called HD again, the same guy show up and took a look at the door, and after inspecting the door around, he told us that there was a crack at the bottom of the door. Therefore, he was going to order a new door, and they will come back once the new door have arrived. By then, I called HD and I open a claim for damages to my hardwood floors. Their liability insurance contact me after couple weeks, "Segdwick Insurance". I had three different male adjusters and a female supervisor involved in the claim, and they were all horrible at their job. After submitting pictures, videos, bills, invoice of the damage to my floor. They all had no clue of were all my information was, since I had to re-email everything back to them individually. These segdwick people are very incompetent on doing their jobs, it seems covid-19 affected their brains. December came around and my patio door had arrived. The installer came in and replaced the broken patio door. So far this new door, its working correctly, no more water damage or complaints so far. Now, in late January, my claim was sent to Simonton Insurance, since it appears that the manufacture of the door should be responsible for the damages. After waiting for so long, we decided to replace our hardwood floors, and just wait for reimbursement from the insurance. After two months dealing with Simonton, and sending again all my pictures, videos, bills, invoices for the damage floors, my claim was denied at the end. These are the Simonton claim manager words "A cracked mainframe does not always signify a defective product as several other issues can put stress on any frame. We had no knowledge of the damage to our floors until after the fact which negated our ability to assess damage or cause. They also told me that at this time, they can only ask that I need to reach out to Sedgwick if I wanted to pursue my claim. In fact, I called Segdwick and they had no idea that my claim was denied with Simonton. I ask to speak to a manager, and I was told that was impossible. I ask the representative to leave a message to the manager to call me ASAP to discuss about my claim, and specifically told them that I did not want it to speak to any of the previous adjusters or supervisors, since they took forever in my claim, and besides they do not do their jobs and kept loosing all my emails, and information. The manager never called, but somebody else did, asking me for Simonton's letter, and to sent back all my information, like video, picture, bills, invoices. This is a joke, Four people in Segwick already had all my information into their system and they still ask me for the same BS information. I already sent everything again this past Friday the 26th, and still have not heard anything back from them. I am so tired to be the one calling them to check the status of my claim. I just want HD to pay for the damages caused to my floors. Then, they can fight within them of who's fault belong to. Segwick is trying to figure out whom to blame, the manufacture or the installers. It's been almost six months and nothing is been done. Therefore, please think twice before hiring HD for any type of installation. Their liability insurance sucks, otherwise I will see you in my shoes pretty soon. I will copy this entire letter, and place it on google as well, and a copy to the BBB. I will call my credit card company and dispute the charges for HD until I get my reimbursement back from them. read more

This Home Depot is fairly close with Lowes. However, I would choose this HD over Lowes simply because the parking lot at Lowes is awful and only has one way to get out which competes with Wal-Mart customers, no thanks. I've always had a good experience with this store as far as returns etc. read more
