Recently purchased a Washer at the Store. Jim Arata (Store Manager) provided OUTSTANDING service. Some words that come to mind are: Professional, Customer Oriented, Knowledgeable, and very Helpful . The Delivery folks who installed the Washer were equally OUTSTANDING. They meticulously removed the old Washer and proceeded to install the new washer. Before leaving, they insured and left the Laundry room was cleanliness. Definitely, Jim Arata and others are Ambassadors for Bray and Scarff. read more

I purchased a very expensive GE washer and dryer. The washing machine stopped working a little after one year. They sent a service rep who ordered parts. Parts came in after not having a washer for two weeks. He puts the parts in and still doesn't work. So now we will be waiting again for parts and hope they can fix this. Here's the problem with Bray and Scarf. Good luck with anyone picking up the phone at the service department. If they do answer they are less than helpful. I called the store several times in Sterling and asked for the manager to call me. Still has not called. They take no ownership in their products they sell. I think Bray and Scarf used to have a good reputation years ago. But that's clearly over. I will never buy anything from this company again. Sadly you get better service at the big box chains. Update: The repair technician came to my house, and the parts he brought did not fix the machine. GE advises ordering additional parts. I called Centricity, the warranty company (All warranty claims go here). They told me that Bray and Scarf have not yet sent them the request for repairs. This is 4 days later. Additionally, the technician informed us that Bray and Sacrf do not determine when they reach a decision on whether the machine is unrepairable. However, Centricity told me that it is the technician from Bray and Scarf who makes that determination. So clearly, no one wants to accept any responsibility So, I called the service department, and again, I could not get through to anyone. Waited on hold several times, then was disconnected. So I called the corporate number, and the receptionist told me that they are "checking the lines." I assume she meant there is a technical issue. However, this has been my experience over the past several weeks: no one in the service department answers the phone. Also, the manager from the Sterling VA store has not returned my call. read more

My husband and I remodeled our kitchen and bought all new appliances from B&S. Our sales person was lovely. The trouble is, the service department is a total shit show. A piece under our dishwasher (not even a year later) completely fell apart. A service tech came out, looked at it and ordered the part. ( this was several months ago btw) The part came in and actually being able to schedule to have someone come out was difficult but we were able to get it done. The appt was scheduled a month after the part was ordered due to scheduling conflicts but no big deal. I took that day off from work and made sure to have MY information as the primary contact number because my husband can't be reached during the day. Well the day before the appt I received a call saying that the service person would be at my house between the hours of 2:00pm-6:00pm. Great right? Nope. I sat and waited the entire day. At 6:05 I thought they must be running late. I couldn't call to check because the service department closes at 5:00pm. At 6:30 my husband was on his way home from work and calls to tell me they had left a message on HIS phone at 2:30 that day saying they had just opened the box and our part was broken, it had to be reordered and they wouldn't be coming. This was several weeks ago now. I have called and called to try and reschedule this appt with no help from anyone at the physical store or from the service department. 99% of the time when you call the service department no one answers. I finally did get someone to pick up and they explained to me that they were in the process of changing systems and I must have gotten lost in the shuffle but someone would reach out to me the following day. No such luck. I was able to reach another person after several more phone calls. She promised that she would look into it and call me back the following Monday. That was over a week ago. I guess this company is happy to sell you their shitty products and then wash their hands of you. I warn anyone to buy appliances at ANY OTHER place besides Bray and Scarff... or as they are now known in our household, Betray and Barf. read more

I purchased a General Electric 30" Under The Cabinet Hood (Model JVX3300SJSS) from Bray and Scarff in Sterling, VA and they installed it with an obvious manufacturing defective (see pics); the sheet metal corner didn't align, creating a hole, plus a few dents. I called B&S immediately and was given the run around; 1st the service center number that was closed, then told it was merely cosmetic and that B&S couldn't do anything and to call GE. So now I'm stuck dealing with GE and their warranty. My warning to whoever is thinking about purchasing from B&S ... if you do, when they bring in the boxes and unpack the new items, go over those items with a fine tooth comb. This is my second time writing this...I took down the first review after the sales guy called/texted me asking it be taken down and give them an opportunity to 'make it right'. Joseph was incredibly helpful, and basically in the span of 10 minutes, I had some information, requests from him on what to provide, and later that day I had a quote, estimated installation costs, and a proposed delivery date. Unreliable & Poorly Managed! If you purchase anything from here make sure you leave with it. Do not plan any project with them, their timeline only matters to them. Just because they have the inventory at the time of purchase does not mean it will be available for your scheduled delivery. For example, I ordered a GE washer and dryer that was available in store. Date of purchase 6/30/20. Deliver scheduled for 8/24/20. Received a call on 6/23/20 letting me now the washer and dryer I purchased in advance was sold and delivered to someone else. The product is now on back order. Expected date for them to deliver the product is unknown to them and me. I canceled my order and requested a refund. Based of principle I will never step foot in this store again and highly recommend you do not trust them. Prior planning on your behalf does not prevent piss poor management on their own. Buyer beware here. This place used to be worth the prices they charge but those days are well gone. Their delivery and installation guys are a total crappiest anymore. The last set didn't even put on those shoe slipcovers or bother to get the dirt off their trolley when they put in our dishwasher. Totally made a mess from our door all the way into the kitchen and left it for me to clean after them. To add insult to injury, they didn't install it correctly and we had to have another team come to do it "right". We have had nothing but problems with the GE dishwasher we bought from them. It has leaked multiple times, ceased working for no apparent reason and has even ceased delivering water into the basin, ruining some of my dishes by dry cooking them. Which brings me to their service plan. Do NOT fall for their extended service plan/no lemon deal service either. They take your money and give you a waste of your valuable time and lots of excuses. The contractors they send don't GAF and neither do the service company OR the local Bray and Scarff management. You are better off buying literally any place else. read more

When I was comparing between them and another provider I was sold on their superior customer service and that I would only be dealing with one person.... When they came to install the oven, they left without testing it just for me to find out that it's a defective product. The electrician said I should contact my salesperson. The 1st thing the salesperson said was "I'll give you a service number to call for help"... they will say/do whatever it takes to sell you but don't do expect any service beyond that... the installation fee with them was 3x other stores. Now I'm sitting with a $6000 defective product and at the mercy of their service team to get back to me... oh and to add insult to injury, when I said I'd rather return the oven than wait on them, he arrogantly said "there will be a 20% restocking fee"!!!!!... We contracted with Bray and Scarf for a full kitchen remodel. The sales team is actually really good and was very helpful in picking out appliances and ensuring we got the best deals on high end items. We then linked up with the kitchen designer name Shabree. She is great! She met us several times at our house and over the course of a few months in the Summer/Fall 2022 came up with an excellent remodel design that on paper was excellent. Then everything started going off the rails... First, we were told that the project would almost certainly start earlier than expected. This was in October at the signing of the contract. So we stretch into November and December and I ask when can we get started since apparently all of our appliances arrived at the warehouse. I was told by a project manager (I hesitate to use such an official sounding term for this individual) that the contractual period of performance didn't start until late February 2023. Well ok, fine, we'll just wait our turn I guess... Demo day for our kitchen was on February 20th, 2023 which was a few days earlier than the contracted period of performance. The team was good, quick, and efficient and in two days had the kitchen and upstairs laundry completely gutted and ready to meet Shabree's vision. This is where things really go off the rails... The construction and project management team is beyond abysmal. We don't have anything resembling an actual schedule for construction from the project lead. In fact, we aren't even notified until the day before that anyone will be at the house the next day to perform work. We didn't even get a lock box for our door, and when we finally did the construction lead didn't bother to give us the code to place a key in it! Just placed and left! The company is in a constant rush to meet its contractual milestone payments and thats about it. We were forced to take delivery of the entire kitchens worth of cabinets before any of the trades had even roughed in electrical or plumbing. When I asked about it I was told the trades need to work around the boxes. There was a slight miscommunication about a milestone payment and the driver didn't pick up the check due to his paperwork saying we already paid. We promptly get a call from the project lead and her manager threatening us with an immediate stop work unless we pay the next milestone payment, which wasn't even on us. We now stretch into March and are lucky if we are averaging a single days worth of labor A WEEK. The construction team is nowhere to be found. When I complain I'm told they are very busy with up to 9 different houses. Well what about mine?? The contractual period of performance was due to conclude on March 27th... that date came and went without any mention and work still wasn't being done except for sporadic spurts of activity here and there. Finally I get a notification that they want to deliver all of the appliances... well fine, finally some progress it seems. The issue is that the project lead coordinator schedules everything right on top of each other at the same time. The day the appliances were due to be delivered was as the same moment the electrician graced us with his presence to run additional wiring for overhead lighting. The delivery crew, who are great guys and in no way at fault, as ME the homeowner what they should do. Well seeing the electrician actively running lines and doing work, I tell the delivery team to drop everything in the garage. Done. The very next day the construction lead comes out and then starts telling me and blaming me that he can't move anything and can't do any work since why did I the homeowner tell the delivery team to put the appliances in the garage. Mind you that I am the customer here not their project or management team. At this point I completely lost it since why am I the paying customer being blamed for their oversight failures? In the proceeding days, we had to arrange for the specialized delivery crew to come back out to move the appliances from our garage into the kitchen and upstairs laundry. On one of the few occasions that the construction lead is actually there, he is on the phone with the coordinator and asks me if Wednesday is fine. Sure no problem. So I take a day off of work to ensure this gets done properly. Wednesday comes and total no shows. I send email queries asking about it and am asked did anyone contact you night before? Um no I was told by two members of the team that this would happen. The coordinator even asks the sales team at the store, and they have zero record of any delivery team being dispatched to our address. A complete waste of time and total mismanagement. I demand a manager show up with the delivery team to take charge of the moving of appliances and to conduct a site inspection, and to their credit they did it the next day but I had to burn even more time away from work. This was the second and third weeks of April... As of May 1st project still is not complete... read more

We purchased a GE washer in February 2021 out of necessity. We worked with the manager James on the purchase. We were completely satisfied. We returned in June 2021 to purchase the matching GE dryer. We worked with salesman Joshua on the purchase. We reviewed the sales receipts once we got home and realized we had been overcharged a couple of hundred dollars from the marked price. We attempted to call the Sterling store and their phones were not working! We had to drive back to the store to have this issue resolved. I am not shocked to see the reviews are not great. We purchased a brand new wall Oven and microwave in excess of $8k. The communications back and forth with the office for install info and responses to questions was poor. I probably could have gotten past the fact that we had to drive all the communications consistently sending and resending messages to get a response, but Then the wall oven was installed and has not worked from the minute it was put in. Starts to heat and then shuts itself off. The sales office just absolved themselves of any responsibility and sent us to service. That was an equally bad experience. The date we got for someone to even diagnose issue was 2 weeks out and even then we have no idea if it is repairable or why a brand new oven won't work. When I asked sales person to escalate he indicated service was out of his influence. Great customer service answer. So here we sit with a non working, brand new oven and no resolution and no one seems to care at the company. Now I hope for the best with the microwave we bought because that's not even installed yet. I suggest going to a different retailer if you intend to get results. Mind you they had no issues charging us for every little thing. Update: determined that the sales person had charged me twice for the same charge - which I had to find and point out so they would refund- including providing evidence. Next, brand new oven is not fixable and we are a week past that determination and nothing new has been ordered. Now I am one month without a functioning oven. Not a single person seems to care and the sales person has been nothing but useless and condescending in helping (last comment was asking me what the rush was for ordering a new one because I am going to be without an oven for at least another 5 weeks anyway). Our fridge buying experience was great. Chip was wonderful to work with. It was once we got the fridge that we ran into some problems. Overall the delivery was ok. They showed up during the window mentioned. They were friendly enough. They were able to get the fridge into the house with minimal damage (paint rub, barely noticeable) to the wall/molding, which was surprising. We were expecting them to have to take the doors off the fridge, so we were thankful they didn't have to and charge us another fee. Yup, that's an additional fee. We got the fridge on Friday evening, left for vacation for a week, and came back yesterday. Today we went to put new groceries in it and we noticed the front of the fridge has a dent in the door, some of the metal trim on one of the shelves has a scratch on it, and one of the drawers has scratches in it. Photos included. I am unsure if it came from the factory like that, or it happened during installation. We have since been contacted by Bray and Scarff and are working out a solution. I'll bump up my stars from 2 to 3 because of the responsiveness of the staff at this location. read more

I wanted to replace my granite and cooktop. Bray and Scarff salesman recommended using their designer for complete project. She provided me with an estimate after I selected the stone, sink, disposer and cooktop. I paid $11K two weeks ago. I found out the cooktop was not included in her proposal. I should have read it more closely. I thought I was getting a complete job. She told me it should be finished in 2-3 weeks. No one has even measured yet. I have contacted the designer three times and the installer once. All they will say is that my order is in process. Don't do a project with these people. read more

About 2 years later the refrigerator door light switch broke, a $5 item and the igniter for oven in the range broke, a $100 item. First, when you call their repair #, it is 2 weeks to come out and troubleshoot. Then you have to wait for them to get the parts in. I have been waiting 4 months with no working oven over Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am still waiting. If B&S posts a reply to this review, do not believe them. They do not care. I am not sure what is going on with this store but the service we have received is HORRENDOUS. I should have known when I began working with Dennis to get prices on a set of appliances for my kitchen, which I was remodeling. You would think a customer who is buying a refrigerator, double oven, dishwasher, stove, floor tiling and countertops would get decent service. Not so. I practically had to beg for the pricing, which was delivered a week late and only after I had to call three times. During installation one lady ordered the incorrect amount of tile and set the project back a week. Now my refrigerator is acting up and it is under 6 months old- B&S's "tech" is a filthy slob of a man who came into my house, cursing at the appliance in front of my little kids. This is his second visit as we had a stove issue that he could not fix- couldn't fix the refrigerator either so we have to find someone else. Our refrigerator has been down for 14 days and no solution is in sight. I'm disgusted with the service and treatment we have received and I wish I had gone somewhere else. read more

Tried to order an induction cooktop and down draft from the Fairfax location. After exchanging 30 emails with Don Smith, nothing was even ordered. Switched to the Sterling location and dealt with the manager Jim Arata. Placed order on 4/13/18 with delivery on 5/23/28. That day came and went with no contact and no delivery. I called Jim to find out it was back ordered and would be delivered 6/8/18. Only cooktop and blower are delivered (no down draft). Call Jim and find out it's on back order and will be delivered 6/15/18. Finally all is delivered now I have to get granite installed and cooktop and down draft installed. Missed 4 days of work and Jim can't discount anything or do anything to help me. Worst company to deal with ever! Never will buy from them again! read more

We purchased a GE french door refrigerator out of necessity as our old one was dying. From sales to install was very easy. But the installers were over the top phenomenal. E. Ileka took off our front doors without a scratch to get the fridge in our TH; cleaned up, wiped off the front, checked all the functions and gave us a quick tutorial on all the bells and whistles. Meka and Edox installed our refrigerator. The space was really tight, and they pulled it off without any damage or scratches! I cannot recommend Bray & Scarff strongly enough. The salesperson was outstanding; the entire experience was 1000% better than the big box. In fact, we originally went to Home Depot, found the fridge we wanted there; however, the salesperson shut us down. He said the installers would refuse to install the refrigerator-- he would not call the service nor even allow us to speak with anyone else. My parents and I renovated our kitchens. We purchased top of the line GE products for about $40,000. We were promised the rebate on delivery that we never received but my parents were able to get the rebate. We received a dented GE refrigerator that cost us over $8,000. We requested the sales rep Jim Arata (Sterling store) to get the dented piece replaced. He asked us to call GE directly, wow what customer service. Then he offered $100 rebate?? Paid the extra $50.00 Saturday delivery and the delivery was a no show, but my credit card was charged. No one answers the phone when I call either. We have purchased several appliances from B&S over the years. Jim Arata has always delivered the best in customer service to us! One appliance did require multiple tech visits, many after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty expired. Thank goodness for the extended warranty we always purchase! With the increase in technology in most appliances these days, it is well worth the extra expense. It paid for itself many times over on our KitchenAid French door refrigerator which was a LEMON. Only 4 stars because I would like a greater variety of manufacturers from which to chose. GE, Whirlpool (which makes Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Maytag, and others), and a few lesser known brands are just not enough. Kudos to Hollie Sweeney in the Service Department at B&S.
