Smaller than the west shore store, this place generally has what you need most of the time. Always a good idea to check online if ever concerned about inventory. Complaints are the lack of really knowledgeable staff and a consistent store layout. This one is different than that most and maybe that's due to the age of the store. I like the new self service checkout stations. Plentiful and pretty quick to make the transaction. I also just picked-up at the online order lockers located at the entrance. I walked right by them at first and had to ask the gentleman manning the online order pick up location where they were. These are separate for online ordering of non-store items. pretty neat! I am dumbfounded with the way I was spoken to today. I have brought my K9 here for over a year, he is a certified explosive detection dog. Including that he and I have worked with law enforcement. Almost all of the workers know myself and my dog by name, and have appreciated my capabilities of staying out of customers way. Including staying out of all of the workers way. I have been given permission by multiple managers to use their building for detection countless of times. However today, that just wasn't the case. I believe the shift lead and or assistant manager for today is named Patricia, she is working the shift of 1300 hours on May 18th, 2023. She walked up to both my dog and I, speaking loudly and telling me to get out. Stated that there was customer complaints, even though multiple customers asked about my dog and was amazed. She stated that I was throwing a ball around, when the ball in question was a durafoam ball with a biothane handle used as a reward system. The only time that handle is not in my hands is if my dog has it in his mouth. In no way shape or form do I throw a ball in a business, it's unacceptable. Patricia (I could be wrong) called the GM Kim and told her that I was throwing the ball around. Which again, isn't true. My dog is high drive, that's obvious. But he is social, obedient, and a K9. Patricia also yelled at a worker Dave who has seen me speak with multiple managers, he is a incredible worker with incredible customer service. Patricia was so rude to the point she was talking over myself and a fellow worker, with zero professionalism. I wonder if I was in uniform if it would've been the same experience. I believe Patricia needs reprimanded for disrespecting not only myself, but a loyal worker. To be retaught on how to handle a situation like this without lying and talking over someone. I couldn't get more than 3 words out of my mouth before assumptions were made. She made a scene, and a simple adult conversation I would've appreciated. I am a understanding person, with a clear understanding how to manage a business and withhold safety precautions. I hope this situation is spoken about, so nobody else gets spoken to that way. Bring my cart from the parking lot ... only to have an employee follow me and take it from the aisle I was waiting for them to come and pull a hot water heater down for me. We have been loyal customers of the Home Depot for years. This year we began installing a service walk at the side of our home. When we went to purchase the 24x24 concrete pavers, we stopped and requested help getting them loaded into our cart and then the vehicle. On the first visit, no one showed up and another customer lent a helping hand. When we got to the car no one showed up. I went looking for the dept manager and she was standing around chatting with two other employees. She did nothing but roll her eyes, the two other employees jumped to it and helped finish loading the product into the vehicle. On the second trip, we had help loading the cart, but no one available to load vehicle. The dept manager was not around and the cashier had to make the request a second time. This time two young men came to finish loading. I am particularly annoyed at the way the garden center is being managed. Many of the items are bulky, heavy or both and impossible for the elderly and/or disabled to manage. read more

I generally do not like to give 1 star to any business. I must get bad service on two consecutive occasions for me to give it the 1 star distinction. I believe this Home Depot has achieved this by providing such low level of service on multiple visits. Here is my experience of my most recent visit to this HD... I wanted to get some keys made and I walked it around 12:30 PM on a weekday. There were not many shoppers for a regular Home Depot and I could see a few associates just "hanging out". I made my way to the Hardware section to get keys made but there was no one available. This section is right in front of the service desk at this location. So I walked over the the Service Desk to have the appropriate associate paged which was promptly done. So I waited for someone to show up - but 2 more announcements and 25 minutes later on a non-busy afternoon, NO ONE showed up to help me!!! All this while associates were "hanging out" around the store! So I decided to go ask some of these associates, and no one was "qualified" to help me! Hello, I just want keys made - you match the blank and insert the key and blank in the machine and boom - you're done! One associate suggested I request a particular associate and may be he would be able to help! That was more patience than what I had and I exited the store 31 minutes later with no keys made. For those from the DC area and remember Hechinger will remember the horrible customer service levels at their stores. It was for the very same reason that Home Depot became my favorite and led to the demise of Hechinger. Alas, Home Depot is going down the same route. I am a new fan of Lowe's! Was sent back and forth between department by a guy who better should not work in retail! Turned out they can't return it cause it was discontinued! Similar situation happened at Home Depot , no problem at all even without a receipt, got money back without any complicated questions and stupid procedures! 30 second transaction without any attitude or disrespectful behavior. Military discount now just works with a MyLowes card , well guess what Home Depot still does it the easy way, check ID at the register and that's it. No thank you Lowes I don't need all this trouble and complicated procedure and people treating me disrespectful I like the fact that Home Depot hires older people, Veterans and a also lots of younger people with experience and enthusiasm to assist customers. Do not use any sub contractors from home depot. Once you purchase your supplies from home depot you never know what fly by night idiots are going to show up to your house for installation. Took weeks to get an install appointment, they tried to cancel our appointment twice, and home depot says they have no controll of their sub contractors. Home depot will not stand up for you with installlatios.... they will pass it off to whatever contractor will take it and beleive me they are no rocket scientists. Every time we come here it's something else. Last week employees had no masks on and yet they are monitoring their store for too many ppl inside. When asked about why they have no masks, employee stated "she doesn't wear one, she's not sick bc she feels fine. Today went to pick up curbside order. Waited 30 min finally went inside. Order was sitting in middle of an isle incomplete. Had to wait again! Order stated ready the day before! They are RUDE and have NO CLUE WHAT they are doing. read more

Update: I wanted to add that I have spoken with the store manager and a phone representative and they were very helpful in trying to fix my situation. Although I am still disappointed that it had to come to this, I must say that I am pleased with the outcome and for the help they gave in trying to remedy the situation. I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction and dismay over our over all experience with Home Depot, particularly at the Swatara branch in PA. We recently bought a house and decided to start with the kitchen remodeling. We purchased new appliances on July 11 and we were told that they would be delivered and installed by August 11. On August 10, we went to HD to confirm that they would be coming to install the appliances and they confirmed it. The next day we get a call from an outside delivery service that they were not coming because our order was not complete. Aside from this, we also ordered new countertops and floors. We were told that the granite people would call within a week to schedule a time to make measurements. Two weeks later we still did not hear from them, it took multiple phone calls and trips to the store for someone to come and it wasn't until over 3 weeks later. Also, they did not deliver the floors on time. We were told that it would be delivered on a Saturday, and when we called the day before, we were not even on the roster. We are so disappointed on how we have been treated despite making a Large purchase. We will also be doing a garage addition, and building a deck, porch and patio but we will no longer be doing business with Home Depot. This whole experience has been nothing but a disappointment. Now we will move into our new home with no countertops, and no appliances. read more

Varying degrees of satisfaction. Bought a load of fencing here and was very satisfied with the product and delivery. Price was decent too. Customer sevice in the store was not as great. Was looking to get lumber cut a couple times and no one was to be found. Ended up waiting 15-20 min for someone to show up. Also wanted to get some trim cut with a miter saw but was told they don't do that even though they had the capability to- no explanation. Another time I went to buy a PVC pipe extension and got some advice in vain from the transgender associate. Very nice but a little awkward. Advice didn't work but the effort to help was appreciated. The store seems to be older, I think they reorganized some of the displays in order to make a fresher appearance since Lowes looks more visually appealing. I will go here for outdoor items and a quick run n for something I need usually. read more

I've shopped with them over the last two years and have had no problems at all. The people there help you with anything you need and have good advise for you. The return department is handled very well. Just a note, return items during the weekdays and nights when they are not that busy. Poor service, I will no longer be giving this store any business. Arrived before closing to reserve an Atticat insulation blower for the next morning at 8:00am, it took 40 minutes for them to prepare the paperwork. I arrive at 8:00 the next morning to pick up the blower and wait ANOTHER HOUR before its ready. 2 days later, wanting to get punished some more, I stop in to order a patio door (over $1k purchase). They tell me to wait until someone can help me, after waiting 25 minutes I had enough. I got up, yelled at the manager and walked out. Just went into this store and was treated HORRIBLY by the store manager. Home Depot is known for being a pet friendly store and this one is in a parking lot with PetSmart. Not realizing that this particular store is not pet friendly we took our dog in so he didn't need to stay in the car alone. Knowing exactly what we needed we were going to be in there for 5 min max. We made it to the absolute back of the store before any employee said anything. The manager came up to us ( we assume, as he wasn't wearing anything Home Depot attire) and rudely asked if our dog, who was quietly sitting next to me, not making any noise, was a service dog. Since he is not, I kindly said no. This gentlemen didn't even stop walking as he said "dogs bite, they aren't allowed here, remove him now" Obviously, I have no problem taking him out of the store but that is not how you treat a customer. Not that this person would know but we have recently spent thousands of dollars at this store within the past month, as we have just moved to the area. This is the LAST time we will give this manager anymore of our money. Not to mention, as I was AT THE EXIT, another employee (who also didn't stop) said "you cannot have that thing here" are you kidding me?! IM AT THE EXIT! I am totally understanding if you do not welcome pets in your location, but have some more respect for your customers. Thank you for absolutely nothing. The 4200 Derry Street Home Depot is the worst EVER! I went in to purchase lights and take advantage of the 1 yr interest free offer. After spending over $350 and leaving the store, I realized on my receipt that the cashier used a 5% off coupon which VOIDED the 1yr interest free option. I immediately called the store and ask that they fix this as I live 45 minutes away. All I got was the runaround and must have spoken to 12 different employees, all of whom were CLUELESS! Plus, no manager was on duty whatsoever. I called back 3 days later and once again, no manager is on duty! ??? Who actually is in charge of this store? I once again had to explain the situation and I was told I need to come back to the store with my receipt to have them void my 5% off and then re-ring my receipt in order to get the 1yr interest free. I told them repeatedly that I had a 45 minute drive one way and I was not going to waste my time and gas running back up to their store. I was told, "well then sir, we cannot help you!" WHAT A JOKE! I stopped by this place to purchase a dishwasher, microwave and some accessories for a floor I was installing one day in a kitchen. I was spending about $1,000-$1,200. I grabbed the flooring items first then proceeded to the appliances. I walked around for about 15 minutes looking at the units I liked. Found a few I wanted if in stock then started looking for an associate. Several had walked by while I was looking but none asked if I needed help. I walked around to the section where they show kitchen cabinets. Seated at a desk were two sales people. I walked up. The one with his back to me didn't even turn around to look when I asked if they were busy or if they could help me. The other man asked what I wanted. I told him I wanted to know if they had a couple appliances in stock that I had seen around the corner. He asked me to be specific. The other guy just stood up and walked away. I pointed to the dishwasher and said let's start with that white one over there. He started typing in a computer, again never stood up so who knows if he was looking for the one I pointed at from 20 yards away, then said he didn't have it. I asked about a different one and before I could finish my sentence he cut me off by saying they didn't have any dishwashers in stock. I could tell my business wasn't that important so I just told him to forget it. Left my cart of flooring things there and went to Lowe's. I gave this place 2 stars only because it's close to my house and I use it when I need small things in a pinch. For that use it's convenient but I don't use them for large expenses now or avoid when I can altogether. read more

I purchased a washing machine and my order confirmation said the deliverymen would install my new machine and take away my old one. Shortly before 2 pm I got the call saying the deliverymen would be at my house within 1/2 hour. They did not show up until almost 1.5 hours later (outside the 4 hour delivery window). When I politely asked one of the deliverymen if everything was OK because they were late, he rudely told me they were on time. After bringing my new washing machine inside, the person who was rude to me told me they would not install my new machine nor take away my old one. He told me to call a plumber and have the plumber install it. read more

Do Not Get Anything Delivered!!!! I purchased a washer and dryer. It was delivered but not installed properly. Repair people came twice after to properly install and it still makes a loud racket when it spins. A few weeks after ordering the washer and dryer, I ordered a refrigerator. I had lots of trouble getting it delivered and the delivery people put ruts in my yard. After several times, they finally showed up and had a refrigerator that was not damaged (twice they did not show up and once they had a damaged refrigerator). It was also not installed properly making the door squeak. A repair person finally came out almost a month later to fix that. It also makes a loud clunk which the repair person said it was the condenser. I still have not had a repair person come address that issue (its been about a month and a half or more). The insurance company they use for the yard damage still has not addressed the issue. I ended up taking off work about 6 times (for deliveries and repair people) and still do not have a refrigerator that works properly. It doesn't seem to be a big deal with the store. Apparently they do not care as long as they are paid (and paid too much for the crap I got in return). Very poor delivery service, very poor customer service and very poor maintenance and repair service. read more
