I ordered a kitchen faucet that had next day delivery because mine broke. now it's been delayed by two days and I will have nobody to install it if and when it ever arrives. That's a shame there are only 2 1/2 stars at this Home Depot, yet I could only speak of my continuous experience with them. This is my local hardware store, and as an avid DIYer, it has been my go-to for over ten years. At least for me getting assistance has not been disappointing - and having used their delivery service for gardening products and appliances is an added plus this past year. I recently needed help with 2x4s cut down to smaller lengths to meet my project's needs and the associate was patient and friendly, while also helping me bring my goodies to my car. Love this place. I've always received great customer service from getting wood cut, to help with paint, plants, flooring, I've never been in a department I didn't get help in. Customer service is a breeze to return things or pay your HD cc bill. The app is kinda sucky tho when they do inventory or when they rearrange items. But that's a glitch all HD's have. I deducted a star for location. It is NOT in the best spot. It's a lil sketchy, especially @ night. Keep your head on a swivel. Situational awareness is a MAJOR thing these days. read more

Spent over $4,000 on kitchen appliances in December 2021. Home Depot sent out installers to set up the microwave, stove and dishwasher. There were issues with the microwave after installation but seemed to correct itself. In February of 2023 the microwave ceased to work. We call Home Depot who sent out a repaiman. The repairman stated that the cause of the malfuntion was improper installation ( vents were not connected). Repair was $298.00 plus tax. When I tried to get remedy from Home Depot was told by a manger that it's 3 months out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. Will not do buisness with Home Depot anymore! read more

I came here looking for items to assist my brothers and I in the clean up of my mother's house so that we could prepare it to go on the market. First the parking lot. It's frankly a PIA to find a spot. You're best off parking in back and hoofing it up front. They don't have a tram to the door, joking. Plus no markings to indicate where you parked your vehicle ie., yellow paint, hammer sections., goofy section .... Keep in mind you're dragging purchases back to that vehicle or fighting people up front for a space to load up. Employees (not all) are difficult to find and haggard. So search out what your looking for .. I was lucky and found what I needed within a reasonable amount of time. The registers are not to bad. Self check out is fairly easy. Lines can get long. Then it's back out to the lot and trudging to your vehicle. It's not in the safest section of Waterbury but it's ok. read more

Rude rude rude and a little bit nasty as well. This store must train its cashiers to be unpleasant and rude and lazy. This isn't about just one trip there I go here way way too often. Tonight for instance I picked up a broken pc of wood from the cull cart. It wasn't orange but obviously broken. Of course no one was around so when I got to the register I told the cashier. She said it's not orange. Yes I know that but that's where it was located and not on the top of the pile. Could you please call the department? It's NOT orange! Yes, I can see that- there was no one back there to ask. Could you please call. This cashier huffs or snorts rolls her eyes and tells me it's not orange.....this goes on and on with the kid from the department saying yes it is to the front supervisor not knowing how to ring it and offering me 50% off. All the while the cashier is still saying it's not orange! This was surreal like a hidden camera thing but I knew where I was. A few weeks prior I had just had surgery for cancer. Of course the cashier doesn't know that but I am visibly using a cane and not well. I put my items on the counter, she looks at them and says "I'm over here!" I didn't quite understand her meaning until she glared down at my purchases a few inches from her. Well, a few inches too far apparently. But still on that registers counter. Unbelievable! Now I'm not very happy and in pain to begin with. So I ask are you serious right now? And she stands there! So I move the stuff up a few inches and yes placed them down quite loudly...and she walks off the register muttering profanities......all this aside I have always had pleasant experiences with the floor staff here. But the register clerks? I could tell you a dozen more! read more

Awful experience. Recently moved to Middlebury. This was the closest Home Depot. This store was full of disingenuous employees and just plain rude staff. After spending nearly an hour getting the paint and various other items I needed I was searched by an Asset Recovery employee. To their dismay I had not taken anything. He was so rude and accusatory. He did not even apologize for the wrongful accusation. He just stated "look at the people I have to deal with" I ended up leaving without purchasing one item. I wouldn't give that store my business and won't ever go back. Still in complete shock. Not to mention the awful parking lot situation they have going on there. DANGEROUS. read more

I was in need of storage shelving and didn't see anything on Amazon that I was confident enough to buy online. I've been to this location several times before for gardening supplies. As soon as I walked in an associate asked me if I needed help finding anything. I obviously had that look of where the heck do I start as I looked up at the signs over the aisles. This female associate knew the exact aisle wherever I could find them. Once I found the aisle I located the shelving I wanted. However, it was too heavy for me to lift onto the cart. I found another associate, Mary, who tried to locate someone who could help me get it on the cart. When that proved futile, she helped me herself. These were heavy duty shelves that definitely needed at least two people to lift. She brought me over to a computer and rang me up and even got me a discount on them. Once I was rung up, she tried to get me an associate to assist me in loading it into my car. There wasn't anyone available, so she came with me to bring it to my car. It proved a little difficult for us to get it into my car ourselves. Just then she saw a male associate just arriving to work. She asked him if he could help us. Even though he wasn't clocked in, he quickly came over and helped us to get it into the car with ease. I can't say enough good things about the associates that took care of me that day! I highly recommend this location. They have some wonderful and helpful staff. read more

Worst curbside pickup service ever. You have to text them to let them know you're there for your pickup. Then answer a bunch of questions and send the text. Did that. Waited 20 minutes.....nothing. I then called the store hoping to get customer service dept. Phone rang for 10 minutes. No answer. Finally my husband went in the store and got our merchandise. They said they never got the text I sent. There should be a specific phone # for curbside pickup so you can actually talk to a person when you get there. That's how other stores do it. read more

Sitting outside for curbside pickup. Spent 15 minutes in hold only to be put on hold for another 15 minutes and then when the associate picked up the line she disconnected the line. Went to the tool rental centre to get a lawn mower. Paid the bill - but didn't get a receipt nor the lawn mower. Lady at the counter, went onto help other people. 20 minutes later, looked at me with surprise, when I enquired again- she said of course it's the lawn mower right there (because customers ARE supposed to know which tool amongst all those, would they get, right?) She went over to the lawn mower, it wouldn't even start. Wasted 30 minutes of my life, with no results to show. read more

Waterbury Home Depot makes me dread corporations... It's really hard to get someone to help you cut lumber. I don't have a table saw or miter saw at home so I measure out ahead of time and have Home Depot cut it. Usually everyone is nowhere to be found. Every time I snag someone they were heading into the back or at a "team meeting". My approx wait time each time is 45 minutes. Need help with screws? How about any fasteners? Please please please do not rely on the dude that hovers in the aisle. He's usually a nice guy, probably brushes his teeth but knows nothing about what you need to do. Not to mention the fasteners they sell are usually poor quality. Gardening is the BEST section of this store. Those guys/girls are very knowledgeable and can help you with everything. Who doesn't love 5 bags of mulch of $10! Have a mix up at the register? I tried to purchase a gift card one time for a Secret Santa gift. Home Depot wanted me to "input" my email address for a receipt, I said no. I don't want them getting my email address. Sneaky too. There computer froze. They rebooted it. While I waited I popped up my online banking on my phone and it said it was deducted from my account. Home Depot says "no never went through". 4 times of coming back to the store to talk to 4 people and they told me it was my banks fault. Got upset. Called corporate. Corporate got someone to call and tell me "its my banks fault and not theirs". Went to my bank 2 weeks after the incident and filed a charge back. Home Depot would only give a gift card. Instead of my actual cash, they were going to give me a gift card so I could buy their Home Depot specially made "name brand" tools and equipment. That's right...try getting your John Deere, Weber grill or Club Cadet repaired when you need warranty service. Got love surprises. NO THANKS. Terrible store. Terrible people. Convenience is the only thing that they have going for them (and a tiny Dunkin Donuts). read more

I go to Home Depot because it's convenient. But the store is geared to the contractor and not the average Joe. Lowe's seems to have the right marketing strategy when it comes to the customer. I think the aisles at Home Depot are cluttered. The items they sell are of a cheaper quality. A lot of orange steel flat beds are left behind by the customers in the parking lot and make for dents, and/or scratches to your car. Larger aisles, better quality goods, and attention to the parking lot so damage doesn't occur to their customer's cars and more parking places are available. read more

We went to get paint, and employees had very poor eye contact, no communication, in letting a customer know " ill be with you in a moment, unrecognizably bypassing us like we didnt exist. There are customer service trainings to improve. Then after order finishing our of paint color , he walks away to continue gossiping with the other female employee. I am beyond disgusted with Home Depot and the shipping company they use - Estes. I ordered a 4 piece patio set and it wasn't cheap. Only 2 pieces were delivered. After waiting NINETY MINUTES on hold to get anyone to answer, Home Depot told me that there's nothing they can do and that I should dispute the charges on my credit. So, just like that I have half a patio set and ZERO help. I will NEVER AGAIN order anything from this company that does not care about their customers. 1) Home Depot is chronicaly understaffed. You will be running around the whole store trying to find someone in almost every department. 2) The most sloppy and slip shod service I received was in the doors section in Waterbury. This guy was disorganized and confused, no matter how many times I reviewed the details he kept mis-stating them (more than a speech problem). No surprise, the wrong door arrives at my house. When I called back, speaking to him, went no where, so I had to speak to management. 3) The most overworked is the flooring dept where you need to sit and go over styles & availability. There'll be 3-4 people buzzing around you as you try to complete your orders. The workers are nice & competent but they're obviously way understaffed. 4) Home Depot also doesn't care about the quality of the subcontractors. McFarland is the name of their window blinds subcontractor who will come out to measure your windows for $50. (Lowes charges $35.) McFarland booked 7 weeks in advance. UGH! The blinds arrived & one was 6" wide, like it was for a dollhouse, blinds, 30" long and 6 wide. Then they had to come back to measure again. Then, it took several weeks before I got the correct blind delivered and an installer here. Very shoddy performance. 5) So I tried Bartholomew blinds through the Southington Home Depot.....more aggravation. The phone staff are lovely. I was offered a measurement appt 8-10 or 10-12 or later. I set it for 10-12, it's can't be earlier. This guy calls at 8:08 in the morning saying he's a half hour away. Here's my violin. He thinks he can just show up whenever he wants, so he can take the rest of the day off. I am not interested in working with self-ish, entitled men who try to get customers or their employers to baby them or coddle them. It's infuriating. I doubt I could find a woman who is getting coddled on her job; women work like workhorses. The men in this country are stripping women of their civil rights and right to their own bodies but let's baby them, the poor UNDERprivileged OVERclass. read more

This store is the best store I've ever been too. The managers and staff have shown us and our son so much compassion today. They went above and beyond for him today, they showed him true kindness and understanding. He loves the the kid events and the projects that he is able to make. My son has Autism and looks forward to being able to create items that he can be proud of making for himself. He may be an adult in age, but a child in his heart and this store has let him achieve his potential with this event, it lets him succeed. read more

Terrible store. Staff completely incompetent....walking around like lost souls. I had placed and paid an order on line and after my order was advised there were 56 more left in the store. When I went to pick it up the next day, not only was it not ready but they couldn't find anybody to look for it. Yet, there were employees shuffling around. I was told that maybe the inventory was incorrect (56 item mistake!) or maybe they were stolen. After wasting an hour of my time and missing an appointment, I finally left. While I was in the parking lot ordering from Lowe's ( my order was ready with my name on it as soon as I got there) some pig in the parking lot got out of his truck and relieved himself. This was the first time I went back to Waterbury after six or more years. The last time we were there the staff as usual was completely lost, messed up the Order and we were accosted in the parking lot by vagrants. Where is the manager? Why is that store so bad? He had three different associates whom all told him give me a moment to call someone. My husband is working on our basement and prepaid for many items in bulk, yet every time he goes to pick up his supplies he gets the run around. They claim they called him, he never got any phone calls, they argue about whether he picked something up already when the time stamp says it was 20 min earlier and clearly he's still in the store empty handed so how would he have gotten pallets of materials already? No one knows where he should go to pick up the pallets, they're sending him all over the store and every employee has a different answer to the same question. Save yourself the trouble and go to Home Depot on queen street where they respect their customers! read more

Considering its location (waterbury) this home depot is a gem. Staff is very friendly and always helps me find what I am looking for. I come here for grilling needs, pond equipment and accessories, and everyday repair (screws, switches, door knobs, etc.) Prices are low enough to compete with Walmart. This location uses the webapp and website where all you have to do on your mobile device is enter what you are looking for and it will tell you which isle to get it in. No mobile service? No problem, just ask a staff member and they gladly walk you to the area. The gardening section is not the biggest of all Home Depots, but I never have trouble finding what I am looking for. Parking lot is big enough to find a spot, though I often find myself parking towards the end away from the building (which is horrible when you have a large appliance to walk out). A few times I did not find what I was looking for, but the staff did their best to give me ideas. The dunkin donuts inside is a nice convenience too, but that is for another review. If you need to "Do it yourself" and live in the waterbury/middlebury area, I recommend giving this location a try. read more

I bought Bruce hardwood flooring at wtby store. I had to return because urea defective. Mike who helped me was very nice and he managed to pick up hardwood flooring. I picked a different flooring (Bruce) more expensive I had to wait 3 weeks to come in, and all of the sudden it was worse then the first one, the color and the pattern was not different then the other but I have to pay way more money! It looks to me it's the same material! I called the store, talked to manager and they were supposed to call me the next day and no one called me! I'm so frustrated. As a loyal customer who has always turned to Home depot for home renovations. Home Depot has truly disappointed me. In August I had placed an order for some custom cabinets that I wanted to put in my kitchen.They explain that I needed to strip down my kitchen so that my custom cabinets can fit within the space. I got rid of my old cabinets in hopes that my cabinets would come in within 4 to 6 weeks that they promised me it would come in. It is going to be more than 2 months that I have yet to receive my cabinets. I have called numerous times and every time I call they have pushed the day back onto when my order is suppose to arrive. I have no cabinets within my home to place anything of my kitchen supplies. I was told that they would come in by September. Now they are telling me that they will not arrive until November 12 and they have no idea why my order is taking so long. How is it that as the manufacture they are unaware of what is happening to my order and on top of that it is total negligence on their part for leaving me without cabinets to then tell me I should cancel my order and that they would charge me for doing so. That is totally irresponsible of their part after I have already rearranged my kitchen to the design I ordered. How can they charge me for canceling my order when they are the ones who are in the wrong. My table top is already set to be delievered and I do not have cabinets to go with it. I am truly disappointed and for waiting so long what they need to do is cover a portion of my order for their lack of service. read more
