Takes off back panel inside, tech says to me a need a new evaporator. Not an easy fix! Tells me I have to call GE repair! Charged me 91$. Are you kidding me.. ( no customer service like, sir this is outta the scope of my work I can't charge or. Only gunna charge you a .25 of an hour. & I can't fix it.) ok so they take my money & run. I call GE. Horrible service. I was advised that my year 12 year old Samsung dryer with no heat was probably an easy fix (thermostat) and would cost one hundred something to fix. The bill came to $185 and 2 loads after it was fixed "NO HEAT" again. They came back again and supposedly something else was wrong and the dryer wasn't worth fixing. My tenant's washer had broken, and was disastrously close to leaking into the first floor unit below. Having seen a few positive reviews for Ted's on Google, I gave them a shot. They may not answer the phone - ever - but they're friendly, get to the job quickly and have reasonable pricing. In addition to appliance repair, they also have a line of refurbished appliances which may suit your needs (and wallet) much better than a brand-new replacement. Why call the (unreliable) Dick Cooper (check out my review on them...they are rated F for sure!) when you can call Ted's?! We just recently bought our home in the area, and are on the hunt for all the local businesses to use for repairs, plumbing, electric, etc etc. After closing on our home, and running the dishwasher, we realized the sellers didn't disclose there was a leak. So, we were on the lookout for someone in the area that could come and fix the dishwasher for us. We originally called another local company that was rude, unreliable, and ultimately couldn't do the job. That's when we called Ted's. They responded to our call fast, came out the same day since they were already in our area, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and came back out and FIXED the dishwasher! Yay! Reliable, knowledgable, honest, efficient, reasonably priced...and awesome! Need I say more?! read more

We don't often give out five stars for retail experiences, but Ted's Repair Service merits it based on our dealings with them. They were friendly, efficient, reasonably priced and best of all knowledgeable. Her's our story: our Whirlpool dryer has been acting up, and based on a Yelper's recommendation we called Ted's. Our call was promptly answered, and in less than 24 hours we had two reps of the company in our home fixing the problem. They did that quickly, and they repaired the dryer completely (including a necessary trip up to the roof to check out the venting). We are very satisfied, and based on this we recommend them highly when problems arise with your appliances. read more

Stay away. Never experienced a worst company in my life. Came out scammed $90 bucks saying it was fixed in five minutes. Then proceeded to never return calls when I was trying to let them know they did not in fact fix it, I had to hunt them down literally calling from blocked and different numbers. When Vicky finally picked up, she said she had to order part and would come back out. She never called to tell me it would take two months for part to come in. Hm. Then two months later a part finally comes in and still no call to set up appointment. I had to hunt down and then they set up time to come out and a no show no call. No surprise here!! What kind of business is being run here so bizarre. Would never recommend or use again. Look anywhere else!!! Wish I read other reviews before wasting my time with this joke of a company. read more

They came to work on our fridge, and did not fix the problem. They promised to come back if the problem was not fixed, which would have been nice, but they totally blew us off on the day of the appointment with no call, no follow-up, nothing. We called and left multiple messages, and never received a single call back. Very disappointing and will not make the mistake of using their services again. read more

I called Ted's this morning for a problem with my fridge. Every other place I called only had time to come out later during the week. Teds came within a few hours, on a weekend. Great family business! Called during a holiday weekend and had to leave a voicemail. They called back within minutes and arrived a few hours later. Ted's son brought the parts, was very skilled, incredibly thorough, and took the time to clean up after themselves. Money well spent. If could give less than one star I would. By far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Came to fix washer and then left without it being repaired. When I called to let them know that it was still broken, I got the run around that they would have to order a part. My calls would be ignored and no one would respond to me. 2 months later the part apparently just came in and they scheduled a time to come out and fix the washer. They gave a window of 2-4pm and never showed up, I called to see if anyone was coming no response. They charged me 90$ initially to come "fix" a washer and then two month later never showed up. If I were writing this review last year it would have earned Ted's 5+ stars. However this time I have been waiting 3 weeks to get my washing machine fixed. Part was ordered and they have it. Here's the problem.... no phone call to set up time to replace part. I've called them multiple times to set up appointment. Second problem .... they never showed up!! Maybe I should bill Ted's for my time rather than pay them for theirs!! I'm hoping things get back to normal with their customer service. Word of mouth is the most effective advertisement! I placed a call on 10/08/14 to Ted's regarding my broken-down LG washer. Vicky answered my call immediately and we made arrangements for them to come out the same afternoon! It turned out that they needed to order a part and told me it would be in 10/10/14 and they'd be out that afternoon (today). Vicky called this morning to let me know the part was in and that they'd make a call this afternoon. They came promptly and switched out the part in 15 minutes flat, made sure everything was cleaned up, and stayed for the washer to go through a cycle to make sure the repair was good. The price was reasonable; I would have paid almost twice that if I'd gone with LG repair. I cannot recommend these people highly enough! Thanks,Ted's! read more

Beware.....they never return phone calls, make promises they do not keep, are late for appointments, order parts for you but never come back to install them. After 5 days of frustration and the help of a youtube video, I purchased the part from Dick Cooper's and installed the part myself in less than 20 minutes. Absolutely awful customer service. Bought a used washer/dryer from them which needed service. They came out to check it out. Came back to "fix" it. Had to come back again with the right parts. Stood on the washer lid and bent it. Now washer doesn't drain. Promised to come back and fix both the dryer and washer. No show. No show. No show. After calling and promising they would be there on 2 different occasions. Didn't even have the decency to call back and explain why they never showed or to address the fact that they broke our perfectly good washing machine. Avoid at all costs. read more

I was very happy with the way Ted's handled my refrigerator repair. Starting with my initial phone call (to make an appointment) I felt they absolutely knew their stuff and actually cared about fixing the problem. I was able to get an appointment the following day, they showed up within the 2-hour window and fixed the problem at a reasonable cost to me. I'm very happy to have found them as I do not like A&E and have had a few bad experiences with other local repair businesses. I would highly recommend Ted's! read more

BEWARE Unreliable / Disreputable Teds repair service & appliance of Torrington, CT on 391 Migeon AVE.!! Check them out under Better Business Bureau rated a BIG FAT "F"@!! They say there coming back to finish the job and never show up, will not answer the phone or when they (owner Vickey Lafountain)do; lies to you that they are coming or hangs up on you?! On June 30, 2015, the owner & her son came out to put a new fuse in my electric clothes dryer & unhooked the vent from the back of the dryer; inserted my leaf blower into the tubing as to blow all the lint out. I'm starting to write the check out for service, when the owner's son (Tom) notices my Thule 4-Bike Hitch rack and asks if we can do an even trade for services? I thought strange but actually was delighted because that meant I didn't have to take out the $200.00 from July's mortgage, as a single mother of two children and no child support my budget is tight to say the least. No sooner did they pull out of my driveway, when I went to turn the dryer on and it's not HOT? Immediately I called & texted them as their Business phone (860) 482-7354 is a cell phone. July 1, 2015 (they don't return phone calls) I had to call & spoke to owner Vickey that my dryer was not working...she stated she had order another fuse and that they would be out to replace the fuse & take down all venting to clean the piping thoroughly per Vickey an hour job=on July 3rd Friday at 5pm. My son waited for Teds repair to come for over 2 hours; 1st NO SHOW! NO COURTISY CALL AS TO WHY THEY ARE NOT COMING!! July 6, 2015 I called & asked why they didn't call or show up per the owner Vickey, she had no answer for me??? She re-scheduled for them both to come out on July 8th. They finally showed up on July 8th, replaced the fuse & told my son that Tom (owner's son) was leaving dryer unhooked for 2 days???? For us to call back within 2 days to see how dryer ran, and if it was running ok they come back out again to clean vents & hook up didn't have time that day?! WHAT??!! July 10th called spoke to owner Vickey, she stated they'd be out July 15th @3pm to take down all venting to clean the piping thoroughly & hookup dryer up to the venting; only an hour job. I gave her my son's cell phone # & asked her if there are any issues call him. WELL.....on July 15th my son waited another 2 hours!!! 2nd NO SHOW!! NO COURTISY CALL AS TO WHY THEY ARE NOT COMING!! July 16th I texted & called back Teds repair service & appliance spoke to owner Vickey again. Asked her why they can't even have the common decency to call...gave excess "one of them was sick". RE-scheduled for July 17 at 10am. 3rd NO SHOW!! NO COURTISY CALL AS TO WHY THEY ARE NOT COMING!! Sent a text @2:33pm saying her son Tom never showed up? July 20th, 2015 I called owner Vickey Advised I was not happy with the 3rd no show....I gave her my Thule 4-Bike Hitch rack as payment for their services & that the job needed to be completed. She scheduled next appointment for July 22, 2015 at 4:45pm. July 22 4th NO SHOW!! NO COURTISY CALL AS TO WHY THEY ARE NOT COMING!! OF course I left a voice mail message on machine to please, please return my call. NEVER HEARD BACK!! NOT AT ALL BUSINESS -SAVVY TO SAY THE LEAST & SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TREAT THEIR COSTOMERS THIS WAY!! They had my $500.00 Thule 4-Bike Hitch rack as payment for their services & I had two fuses put in that totaled $40.00!!?? How is that fair? SCAMMING ME ALL THE WAY! Next I called NBC CONNECTICUT'S TROUBLESHOOTERS and spoke with AJ Walker. I advised AJ of what was transpiring all of the FOUR NO SHOWs and NO RETURN PHONECALLS OR ANSWERS TO MY TEXTS. AJ walker from NBC contacted Vickey & arraigned for them to come out to complete the service on July 29, 2015 @ 4:45PM, in which the arrangement was for them to have 2 men come for the service appointment in order to clean the venting & hook machine back up. They never showed!! I phoned Vickey @5:20pm to ask where they were? She responded I know I told AJ Walker we were coming but, now we are NOT! THIS WAS NOW THE 5TH NO SHOW!! On July 30, 2015 AJ Walker of NBC CONNECTICUT'S TROUBLESHOOTERS went to Teds repair service & appliance of Torrington, CT on 391 Migeon Ave to speak/interview with TV camera rolling to the owner Vickey as to why they did not show. Then AJ Walker & her camera crew came to my residence to shoot an interview. They already have an "F" rating with better business bureau, but consumer's need to be aware of the crooks! We have used this appliance repair two times..first time was ok..second time they didn't come out until five hours or so after their original time..called them a couple of times and they said they were on their way (which should have been about 20 min from where they were)and we waited ..didn't show up til a couple of hours later....saying the car broke down..don't think so.....and they never called to let us know..it was a minor fix on our dishwasher and we ordered a part for the top basket, which they said would be in in a few days....after waiting over a week, called to check on part and we were told it was in and they would be by the next day on the way to or from another job in the area...never showed...we waited all day again...after calling again..got voice mail on cell, which said mailbox was full and disconnected,,,called home phone and same thing....called again today on home phone and left message to just mail part or leave in mailbox...it cut off so don't know if it went thru...we paid cash for the repair and the part..lvery unreliable and will never use them again.... read more
