As long as you choose to go in and do your shopping, there shouldn't be an issue. The times I encounter problems here are for the curbside, delivery, or pick up in store, orders. Also, if you have thin skin and happen to be a woman, this isn't a store for you. Every single man in this building will, inevitably, crack a joke about women and their deficiencies when it comes to home improvement. Just be ready for it. They have recently taken away the 10% Military discount on tons of items throughout the store. Apparently millions of dollars in profit just wasn't enough. That just makes me sad for them. If they're hurting that bad, we can afford to pay full price. The store is always pretty clean. The staff are typical to the times we live in. They'll help if they really have to, but don't think they'll approach you with any kind of preemptive courtesy. Home Depot, I have not heard back from you concerning the damaged box of stone tile that the idiots from Estes Trucking broke when they placed my delivery literally on the road after damaging my new asphalt driveway and landscaping with a forklift. Someone in customer service said they would order the replacement box when I brought it there. Of course, I haven't heard anything about the replacement box yet. Few employees are knowledgeable, but that's not why I'm giving a bad review--nor is it that it's hard to get hold of people on the phone. I bought a Bosch dishwasher and paid for installation. The installation was faulty, but in such a way that the problem (door popping open during the cycle) wasn't apparent until a few months later. (They put the screw on the edge of the wood--it took a few months to splinter.) The repairman confirmed that this was an installation issue, and I had to pay for it, but Home Depot and their installer said it wasn't their responsibility because I'd passed the 48-hour mark. I will think twice before ordering appliances from HD because of this issue. read more

Here's a great one: I ordered a dewalt 27 cc string trimmer from homedepot on line. When I received it I noticed it was an MTD product( I known that I wouldn't have bought it)meaning that it's the same as Troy- built ,cub cadet and many other names. Then in wrapping this thing and adding a supplied handle I noticed another dissatisfaction: it weighs too much! Somewhere over 13 lb. I put in some 2 cyc gas and ran it a little. I mentioned my complaints to my wife and she wanted to give it a go.In ten minutes this thing ate all the string and would not advance any more. The next day I took apart the head and two metal pieces broke off, making it useless.I've installed an after market head( because you cannot find the part). I boxed it up and took it to the depot to return it. First 2 associates said no problem, then the Boss of the returns dept comes over and says no. It's not our problem call Home Depot on line . So I did and they said to take it to any store. I returned with the trimmer in the box, Same store And the witch Boss says : After 30 days gas powered equipment cannot be returned. This boss is just nasty! And with this treatment, I urge everyone not to shop there. read more

I went into the Winchester VA location to buy a zero turn lawn mower. After spending almost $4000 on a lawn mower they gave me a packet (owners manual) with no keys and asked me what I did with the key and said that they are always with the manuals. A store associate and manager dug thru a very unorganized box of multiple zip lock packets of manuals and came across one and said if there's a key give that packet to him. After further investigation the manual and all contents were saturated with water and full of mold and dirt with pages sticking together. This is unacceptable for a store that sells multiple lawn mowers weekly to have such un organization. read more

Don't waste your time. Salesperson had no clue how to tint the Rustoelum HOME floor paint I wanted. Called for help from someone in another part of the store who supposedly knew how to do it. Then after I waited 20 minutes he told me, sorry no one is coming to help. Then I could not buy the other items I tried to purchase because I didnt have my military ID & they couldnt look me up by my phone number...when they've done it before. I always find the people in this store extremely friendly and willing to help me with all of my projects. The fact that they have remained open and have clearly set up standards to keep people as healthy as they can during our time of pandemic is definitely a plus. We've always dealt with Lowe's and now I know why. Went to the Winchester, Va Home Depot since they were the only ones who carried our flooring. They refused to order our flooring and made us drive to the Ranson, WV store (almost two hours from our home) to pick up the flooring. Was forced to bring 9 boxes of flooring home in a Subaru Outback (as I sit with my knees in the dash). WILL NOT deal with Home Depot EVER again! read more

My first 1 star rating goes to ..drum Roll ....The Home Depot. The in store employees that worked my order were good folks. They sold me a washer and dryer set and did their job. Not too hard to screw up. Now to the fun part. I ordered the white set of LG because the chrome set was back ordered until 29July. I was told we can have this delivered by the coming Saturday. The date was around 29th or 30th June. I was told Saturday delivery. Saturday I got a call and the truck broke down. They reschedule for Tuesday and guess what ! No call no show. Today I got a call from The Home Depot and not a sorry or any explanation besides "your delivery date has been rescheduled for 17July". Of course they can't do it sooner and it seems like the lady making the call has been hearing lots complaints as I could hear the defeated tone when I pretty told her that Home Depot will never get my business again and I want my refund. And of course I was told it was due to their 3rd party delivery service. Well if they are that bad fire them ?! I had to drive back to this place to get my refund. Lots of folks had the same issues. I was told something like 7 people with same issues and canceled orders.I went to Lowe's and they had the chrome set in stock and set to be delivered by Saturday. I'll never waste another dime at THD. I'd actually spend more to simply avoid them. The manager and caller really could care less and didn't even offer money back or explanations. If you have several people not receiving goods maybe you should change something instead of causing several people headaches. I'm told it was a Atlanta thing - management. I say total incompetence and good riddance. Hopefully my refund will show up in my account. And again, the employees at the store were good, not the issue. I'd give them 5 stars. read more

Very unfriendly and unprofessional staff. Have good time returning something, with the "Blown Out Of Proportion" lady @ the Return Desk. We spend around 10K on appliances and this goddamn store could not get Dish washer installed even after 4 times of try and 3 months of running around. Bunch of very unprofessional Managers run this store too. We had no luck getting any help from these suckers and had to resort to corporate. Once corporate got on their asses, did everything start to work but we gave up after sometime and installed for once ourself. 2.5 stars, rounded up. I'm in Home Depot a lot since I am renovating my entire house so I have to get all sorts of things there. It is usually difficult to find someone to help you and when you find someone, it is mixed but generally not helpful. Kirdi membrane? They only have them for corners, no flat sheets. When asked if the larger sheets are available, the guy had no clue what my husband was talking about. Come on, we're amateurs and we know more about this stuff than the staff! One exception: the old guy in plumbing, can't remember his name, but he's pretty bad ass. Don't get me wrong, staff is friendly just wondering how some got a job at Home Depot. When we bought our washer and dryer, the young girl working there did spend a lot of time with us to make sure we ordered the right types. The washer we wanted was out of stock so they bumped us up to the higher model for free - free steam cleaning feature, yea! I reiterated over and over again to make sure that we got the gas front loading dryer. Yep, yep, she said she got it. When it was delivered, it was electric. Maybe a hiccup somewhere else along the line but it was irritating since I triple checked. They did replace it though. All in all, HD is more utilitarian than Lowes (a good thing in my opinion) and it is always well-stocked. One night, my husband ran out of pvc pipe cement and went there at 8pm but they were already closing but gave him - yes for free - the cement so we could turn our water back on. Truly amazing. So, I can't be too harsh on them. Ups and downs with HD, I just roll with the punches. read more

Don't buy Maytag or whirlpool it's the same trash company. I purchased a washer and dryer with a made in the USA sticker on it. 3 weeks later the dryer breaks down. So I called Home Depot and they don't care. It's not there problem they only had to convince me to buy it after that they are off the hook. So Maytag says we can send out a repair guy. Next week. So I made the appointment. Called the repair company 4 times with no answer. So the day of them supposed to show up they finally call me back to tell me they never were going to show up today. And that maybe next week they might show up. But even if they do show up they let me know it's going to take weeks to fix it because it's made of parts from Mexico and China. So why did I pay extra for that made in the USA sticker? It's a scam. $750 for a dryer that stopped working in less then 3 weeks. Worst purchase iv made in a long time. Forget about resolving it after you set up a maytag account they don't answer the phone after that. Iv lost days off work and had to drive 20 minutes 1 way to the laundry mat 3 times a week. It's cost me so much more then I ever thought. And now with all that I have a broken brand new dryer. Spent extra money on gas and laundry mat and now I have to use my kids Christmas money to buy a new dryer and it's just 3 weeks until Christmas. Home depot and Maytag Totally fucked me. Completely unacceptable trash service. Trash products. Furious. Between this and dealing with the last 2 years of covid 19 I'm going broke. I found out the hard way. Great service!! I bought the wrong lay mower for my yard (needed rear wheel drive). I was not sure that since I had used the mower once if Home Depot would let me return it. Melissa was friendly and indicated that it would be no problem. She got someone to help me bring the "old" mower in and when I picked up the correct mower had someone help me load it into my vehicle. Melissa made the error on my part a painless experience that one hopes all service could provide. This store has associates that were helpful and two of them walked me to the products that I needed and helped me get the correct brands for my project. read more

Every few months I will think that on my way to Target I should stop here instead of going to Lowe's - and every time the employees are incompetent, the items are mispriced, and the selection is limited. This is not the store to go to you if you want a good selection of a gardening supplies or plants. It is not the store to go to you if you want the best price on plumbing supplies or lighting. After a not-so-great experience with the door installation department (we didn't end up purchasing due to lack of communication), we made our way back when Lowe's didn't have something we needed. The thing we needed, ended up not working well but the return process couldn't have been easier. We weren't able to get it back into the box and just brought the box with the items in a bag, and the card we purchased it with (because of course, we couldn't find the receipt). The worst part was that the interior doors we purchased were damaged. They would not return the doors. We were also hasseled by a rude and very unprofessional store manager. A long-term resident (30+ years) of northern Virginia, I recently relocated to Winchester. Very quickly I found a noticeable difference in Home Depot stores. Without slamming the Annandale/Fairfax stores I patronized through the years, let's just say that the Winchester Home Depot is more personable; for instance, Mike Horne (flooring/appliances), whose expertise I didn't immediately need. I needed to know about a barbecue-grill and Mike knew just the fellow, Scott Skinner, who not only helped find the right grill but also answered lawn-mower questions I had. I ended up buying a grill, one that met my needs, NOT Home Depot's profit margin. When I last talked with Scott, I told him I would plug the Winchester store the first chance I had and...so I have. read more

When I bought a washer and dryer at Home Depot a little bit ago, the people who worked with me were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. However, I recently rented the Load and Go Truck, which gives you a flat rate for 75 minutes. Upon returning the truck I had to wait behind two people at customer service, and when I got to the front and handed her the keys, she said she needs the paperwork too. So I had to go back to my car and retrieve the paperwork. When I came back in I had to wait behind a couple more people, and then when I got to the desk she said that I was 10 minutes late so they were going to charge me for another hour. I tried to explain that I had been there for 10 minutes and had even handed the keys to her but had to wait behind several people until they could wait on me. Her response was a terse, "Uh, no." So even though I had spent several hundred dollars on things there that day, they wanted to get the extra few dollars for the truck. I was planning on buying a mower the next day, so I went to Lowe's and gave them my $400 instead, and got better customer service too. read more
