I contracted with Nick at BrightHOME to blow insulation into the exterior walls of our 1920's home…read more We hired BrightHOME primarily because of the time Nick took during the sales process to investigate potential air leaks and to attempt to find us the best solutions to improve energy efficiency and warmth in the house. The team arrived on-time as scheduled and finished in the allotted three days. They cleaned up everything and returned our wood siding as best as possible. One item of note was that we had some cellulose "leaks" from the edges of walls and floors or from electrical outlets for a few weeks after the job. Nick had told us this is likely to happen in older homes and we were expecting it. A few vacuums later and this side-effect disappeared for good. The one thing that makes it hard for me to give BrightHOME a fifth star was the condition of our wood siding after the job. Nick had indicated that his team would remove squares of wood siding to blow in the insulation. He said that after the job, we should expect some "scoring" between shingles where they would cut the siding to remove it. I would rate his explanation and the facts as not quite aligned. It is true that there is scoring, but we have a number of spots where the wood cracked. Had I not already had plans to paint the exterior of my house, I might have been annoyed at the damage. To be fair, someone looking at the house from the street would not notice. But coming up to the house, it is clear that discrete rows of siding had been removed and returned ... something to be aware of if you live in an older home with wood siding. I can't evaluate the ultimate effectiveness of the work because we are experiencing a warm winter. In any case, BrightHOME seems to have done a high-quality job, and Nick Ricciardelli was just amazing to work with. I'd recommend him and the BrightHOME team to anyone. Very satisfied.

Pretty darn happy!…read more The gents first did the energy audit on the house, showing me things I didn't know were wrong and (more importantly) showing me things I thought were wrong but were actually fine. When we agreed on price, gents did a thorough job and an excellent clean up. Took about a week, plus an extra day that was added on thanks to last year's awful snowstorms. My bills have gone down, my house is warmer this winter (though in fairness, it's pretty warm outside up til recently too) and nice and cool in the summer. Happy with the whole thing, would and do recommend!

They were very thorough and did an amazing clean up job! Looking forward to a more energy efficient home and comfort during future winter seasons.

I contacted Green Home Logic for an energy audit to see what kind of insulation would make a dent…read morein our energy bills. I did a really deep dive before hiring them... comparing every ConEd approved contractor to see who had the best reviews, BBB ratings, etc and GHL had the highest marks everywhere. I spoke with Geoff initially, who is very helpful with getting us set in the right direction and he squeezed us in for an energy audit in a reasonable amount of time. Got the energy audit done with Jon, which was really interesting and gave me a full picture of the limitations of my home, but then also the places where we could make vast improvements. Jon is great by the way and took a bunch of time with us to answer our questions (we had a lot). They ended up doing blown in fiberglass insulation in the crawlspace below the roof. They scheduled this in a timely fashion, showed up right on time, finished quickly and cleaned up to our tenant's satisfaction. The installers were very polite, helpful and professional. Since I wasn't about to squeeze in that tiny crawlspace, they took plenty of photos of the work to let me know how it looked. Based on some rough estimates from my smart thermostat, we now run our boiler 25% less than before insulation. Keep in mind, that's just with insulating the crawlspace. If you're able to do your walls too, I'd assume these numbers could go even higher, but we couldn't. After rebates from ConEd and the IRA it virtually cost us nothing. As long as the rebates are in place, I'll likely bring them back every year to insulate something else. It's really a no brainer, especially with this company which is run like the Navy.
