I contacted Green Home Logic for an energy audit to see what kind of insulation would make a dent in our energy bills. I did a really deep dive before hiring them... comparing every ConEd approved contractor to see who had the best reviews, BBB ratings, etc and GHL had the highest marks everywhere. I spoke with Geoff initially, who is very helpful with getting us set in the right direction and he squeezed us in for an energy audit in a reasonable amount of time. Got the energy audit done with Jon, which was really interesting and gave me a full picture of the limitations of my home, but then also the places where we could make vast improvements. Jon is great by the way and took a bunch of time with us to answer our questions (we had a lot). They ended up doing blown in fiberglass insulation in the crawlspace below the roof. They scheduled this in a timely fashion, showed up right on time, finished quickly and cleaned up to our tenant's satisfaction. The installers were very polite, helpful and professional. Since I wasn't about to squeeze in that tiny crawlspace, they took plenty of photos of the work to let me know how it looked. Based on some rough estimates from my smart thermostat, we now run our boiler 25% less than before insulation. Keep in mind, that's just with insulating the crawlspace. If you're able to do your walls too, I'd assume these numbers could go even higher, but we couldn't. After rebates from ConEd and the IRA it virtually cost us nothing. As long as the rebates are in place, I'll likely bring them back every year to insulate something else. It's really a no brainer, especially with this company which is run like the Navy. read more

Then Jon came and did a thorough job on the audit and prepared a project scope. Then Jacob and team came to reinsulate our attic. They also changed every light bulb where necessary and secured all windows to keep our house insulated. They even custom made a frame on the spot for our front door to keep our home completely insulated! They were well prepared before the job covering everything and then cleaned up everything including vacuuming after the job. Not only were they courteous, reliable and highly skilled professionals, but as an approved NYSERDA contractor who participates in Energy Efficiency programs offered by NYSERDA, I was able to schedule a free energy audit of my elderly parents home! This meant that Green Home Logic replaced 16 of our incandescent lights with LED lights, installed new weather stripping and door sweeps on three exterior doors and installed brand new CO and smoke detectors--for FREE! Not only that, they also checked on our second refrigerator that is barely used and lives in our basement and informed me that it is from 1995 and is running up our electric bill. Now that I know that, we're going to replace it with a much smaller new freezer, which, along with these other energy saving measures, will help reduce our electric bill! Finally, their customer service is excellent! The weather stripping on one of the doors was a bit too snug and they were right back the next day and made the adjustment in no time at all! Initially, I had contacted Green Home Logic to renovate my living room and install insulation because of air infiltration. The properties are compact, where the driveway is adjacent to each neighbor's house. However, during my COVID-19 telecommuting, I noticed car exhaust fumes and other undesirable odors was entering my home and not leaving during the winter months. I contacted Green Home Logic, and Geoffrey listened to my problem and recommended a more efficient and low-cost solution instead of performing an interior renovation. My home was built in the 1950s, and Geoffrey proposed blow-in insulation that will cost less than renovating, provide an air seal barrier to control air leakage, and increase the home comfort feel. Geoffrey's crew completed the entire project in one day. His crew member explained the whole process (see video) and meticulously cleaned all areas (inside & out). It has been a few days since the insulation process, and I don't smell any residual car fumes, cigar smoke, or a neighbor's outdoor activity. I am currently pleased with the outcome and can't wait to feel the difference between hot summer and cold winter. Our house has an extension-built decades ago and during winter it can get a bit drafty and hard for the temperature to climb up despite having its own boiler. After reaching out to numerous insulation companies both on here and HomeAdvisor, I found that Green Home Logic and especially Geoffrey were incredibly patient and responsive while I was doing my research into having a wall insulated mainly to help reduce sound transmission. All the other places I reached out to fell short in a few different ways. Either they were very slow to respond, completely non-responsive or were shady in how they proposed doing business. They were respectful of my time and property. When it came time for the appointment, they showed up very punctually ringing my door right on the dot of the scheduled time. They asked before they parked their truck on the property. They made sure to cover all the furniture, surfaces, and floor with drop cloths and vacuumed up afterwards. I've unfortunately had to deal with multiple insulation contractors as a result of some surprises in the construction and composition of my 1920 house. Green Home Logic were the first and only that both knew what they were talking about and cared enough to implement fixes the right way. They work clean, they're punctual, they have good equipment, and they're courteous. Had GHL come to do a home energy audit in May. Got a professional and thorough inspection with explanation of all the energy losing aspect of my house. Joel ( who unfortunately is no longer with GHL)) was absolutely professional in his assessment and recommendation . Scheduled work to be done in September , as to avoid heat issues in attic while work was performed . Workmen we're amazing in there care and efficiency . They explained and shown all work that I was not able to see without pictures . Clean up was perfect. bottom line.... it's now mid December and my cold second floor and closets ( north exposure) are warm and not "drafty". Amazing . so happy I found Green Home Logic. They were professsionsl, on time and very thorough in completing the assessment and providing recommendations to make my home more energy efficient. Although I qualified for some rebates, I was weiry about spending the money to make the upgrades. I met with another contractor and their customer service could not come close to what Green Home Logic presented. Geoffrey walked my through the process of maximizing NYSERDA's programs and I received additional incentives that I would not have considered or thought of if it wasn't for him. They worked two long days in my home; they were super clean and left everything as they found it. I live in an old town home with one bordering neighbor and had been dealing with noise in additon to freezing temperatures in my home. I received a quote from Joel and the price was extremely reasonable, much less than I expected / was quoted elsewhere. I had 10 inches of blown in insulation added to my cock loft and had insulation blown into the boundary wall with my neighbor as well as some areas that were poorly insulated at the front of my house about 2 months ago. Geoffrey and his team were very friendly and thorough - they took adequate time to cover my belongings in plastic and left the place almost as clean as they entered. The insulation has worked so well - I can't hear a peep from my neighbor my gas bill is about 40% less over the past two months and my electric is significantly cheaper as well. As a home owner, I've dealt with a lot of contractors and let me tell you, these guys are great. I've never dealt with someone as honest as Geoffrey. Here's my story. My house gets very chilly in the winter and I've reached out to Geoffrey regarding some insulation work for my attic. Geoffrey came over to my house and gave me a very reasonable quote and explained the entire process to me. He sent the contract over via email after and everything was set. On the day of the installation, they got the truck over and set everything up. Upon creating the opening, it was determined that the previous owner already filled the attic with insulation. He explained that it will not be beneficial for me to add anymore insulation as it will not add much value or comfort. He knew I was still concerned about the coldness in the winter and walked me through how to receive a free audit and he'll help me pin point where the trouble areas are. So, they carefully patched up the hole they opened and cleaned up. All he charged for all their efforts was the cost of closing the hatch. In a world where there are so many shady and dishonest contractors out there, I really appreciated Geoffrey for his honestly and integrity, instead of trying to trying to complete the job just to earn a quick buck.
