BY FAR the BEST experience I've EVER had with an auto mechanic. Saved us a boatload of money that the Acura dealer said we would have to spend. Did a VERY cost-effective repair instead of forcing me to wait a month (or likely much longer) for the very expensive, back-ordered part that the Acura dealer said I absolutely had to have. AND squeezed us in two weeks earlier than they had said they were available. AND took the time to explain everything they did in great detail. AND fixed the problem. AND charged us next to nothing. AND gave us a clear preview of issues that might -- but also might not -- arise in the future. Oh, and they were super nice, incredibly responsive, and extremely patient with my questions. It sounded like my drivers front suspension was coming apart. I had pulled the wheel and inspected it and couldn't find the problem. So, I took my CR-V in to Hondew to have them look at it and virtually before the car got out of the parking space the passenger wheel fell off and wrenched the fender so bad that the passenger front door wouldn't open. Long story even longer, they found the lug nuts had rusted through and I only had two holding the wheel on when I arrived. They got all that repaired and had a body guy wrangle the fender to where the door is operable, found a leaking power steering hose that I thought needed a steering rack and pinion. All done in a day and a half. Perfect work. Great price. Although my timing probably gave them a great deal of heartburn to have to call me with the issue I am perfectly pleased with their service and professionalism! read more

After having taken my 2016 Honda to the dealership a month ago for routine maintenance, I was told I needed around $500 of services performed on my car. Knowing full well that this was not the case, I decided to get a second opinion and visited the Hondew Shop. Marshall is the manager and he is above board! Believe the reviews. He is personable, knowledgeable and will give you an honest and fair assessment of your vehicle. After they inspected my car, he informed me that nothing extra needed to be done. I was referred to the Hondew Shop by the Hon-da Doctor in Lewisville. Apparently the two owners used to work together at a service center in a Honda dealership, but got tired of the pushy service sales and shitty customer service. So they both started their own places and I recommend both! I've taken my car into Hondew a handful of times, and every time the process is painless, quick and I don't feel like I was pushed into anything. They tell you like it is - what needs to be fixed NOW, what can WAIT and what is in good condition. They're lightning fast too...I was shocked at how quickly they get my car in and out every time. The first time I called them, one of the ball joints on my Honda Accord crapped out. It was 6:30pm, and they had already closed. THANKFULLY the owner picked up the phone by miracle, and the guy stuck around his shop to see that the tow truck brought it in safely, and by the next afternoon everything was fixed perfectly. Hope that the bumper doesn't fall off after you drive away, hope that you don't find a random lug nut missing from the wheels, or hope that you have to go back to the shop only once after they didn't fix the original problem. Enter The Hondew Shop, where I talked to Marshall, who was definitely knowledgeable and provided the courteous and competent service I've rarely found at an auto shop. He didn't push any of the service items down my throat, clearly explained what I should look out for in the future for the item I passed up, and then had everything done within a couple hours. Upon arriving an hour before closing, I spoke with the General Manager who diagnosed the issue with the car based on my description of the "symptoms". Being out of town, the concern was having the car ready in time to enjoy the rest of the stay in the Dallas area. Brought in the car the next morning and the car was ready by 2:00. This is definitely the best experience I've ever had with a car repair facility- the best out of perhaps two dozen. Yesterday I called Marshall as the clutch in my Honda Prelude was malfunctioning. I noticed that my right headlight was out and took my 2006 Acura to the dealership to get a new bulb. They told me that it was beyond the bulb that needed to be fixed and quoted me just over $1,000. Needed an oil change. I had called ahead and gotten the information about no waiting during service due to COVID, but could not get the prompt to work to speak to a person, so I made my way to the shop. There was only one guy there, and he was on a personal call while I was standing there. He did acknowlege me. I was there at noon straight up, but I thought perhaps they stagger lunch and hoped for the best. After he completed his call, he came to help me. I said I could not leave the car, and I told him I could walk to the Rock Barrel to wait. (I would sit on the curb outside if needed) He then said in a very off-putting tone that it was lunch time and it would be 2:00 before they could get to my car. 2 hours for lunch with no mechanic available? I don't think they need my money. Very disappointed as I have owned many older Hondas and have used them before. They have lost my business! read more

I HAD to write an update. So as I was self described "lazy" in my post below, I stayed true to form. I brought my car to the Honda Dealer on Lemmon for an oil change. And of course they called me and told me I needed: 1) New brakes 2) An aligntment (and obligatory balancing). Estimated bill: between $300-$400 (from memory) I said, "let me call you back." I jumped on the phone immediately to call Marshall and see if he had time to look at the car. And he did. And his phone estimate was already less than what Honda quoted based on what they said I needed.. I got up early and brought the car up there on a Saturday. Left it and expected to return a couple hundred dollars later. I got a call in about an hour and he said, "you've got more than half left on your breaks. The car drives fine, you don't need an alignment." I asked how much longer (in mileage terms) until I needed the work to be done. He estimated something like 20,000. I picked up my car, and the invoice was $0. Has that ever happened in the history of the world? I think not. And I think if you don't go to Hondew and continue to go to the dealer, you're as lazy as I am. And probably poorer than me too now. read more

Actually, because we have had such great experiences, my husbands family, who only drives Honda and Acura as well, takes their cars there also! The guys at Hondew are always so honest and never try and convince you to get work done that you don't need. We have been told when something may need work in the future, but if it doesn't HAVE to have it right now, they tell us that, and never pressure us to do it. The prices are very reasonable for auto repair work and they work FAST! We have never ever had a single, even slightly negative experience here. I've been using Hondew as my mechanic since 2009 for my Honda S2000. Always great service, but this last help was WAY OVER THE TOP. The EPS light on my dash went on; therefore, my power steering went out. The new digital component would have been $1,100, but Marshall found a comparable, used component for $75 on eBay, and he suggested that it would most likely do the trick. It did. The show saved me more than $1,000, and my car returned to working like a dream. Cannot recommend this shop enough. read more

First off, let me say that I'm a shadetree mechanic and know my cars. Hondew is the most honest and direct shop that I've come across. My car had an creaking sound when coming to a stop. They spent time diagnosing the issue, tightened the front subframe, and lubed the bushings to no avail. But they didn't charge me and didn't try to start randomly replacing parts to try to fix it. They did thoroughly explain what they looked at and what could be potential causes. Infinitely better than the Acura dealership and probably the only shop I would recommend to others.
