Absolutely hate when my daughter's tournaments are scheduled for The Hoop in Salem. Worst venue they play at. Often seems that they forget to turn on the heat in Winter mornings. Last season when I asked about the lack of heat I was told that it causes condensation that drips from the ceiling onto the Courts and makes them unsafe. I responded - then put some money into your business. The heat did come on later in the morning - and the team needed to keep a towel handy to dry up wet areas in the court. The Hoop in Salem is my least favorite venue for volleyball tournaments. The walls drip moisture and along the walls are piles of trash, like someone swept and pushed the piles to the side and never cleaned up. The Hoop has a upstairs area that is closed off so there is no room for the teams to hang out together or have snacks indoors. The lobby is over crowded and undesirable. The parking lot has new RV rules every time we go. The first time we parked our RV in the front lot (NO issues). 2nd time, we pulled into the front and staff asked us to move to the far back parking lot behind the entrance. 3rd time we went, we parked in the far back parking lot and the staff asked us to move to the overflow parking! The overflow parking is another buildings parking lot up the road. Ridiculous! We bring our RV because there is no room inside for the teams to eat and no one wants to walk 1/2 mile up the road. The Hoop is horrible. I plan on writing the volleyball tournament coordinators at CEVA and express the need to use a different venue. read more

Always a drag to hear we are ending up here. Today they wouldn't let us in with our store purchased water bottle. It was actually just one we had refilled....your tactics of trying to make sure we don't bring outside food has reinforced the fact that nobody in our group will purchase your goods read more

If we had a choice as to where we played volleyball tournaments, I would definitely decide against The Hoop Salem. You pay $6/person to just go watch your child play and the facility is disgusting. The little area where they sell food is so rediculously overpriced it's insane. The bathrooms are so nasty- wet handles to flush, bathroom doors being held together with tape, sopping wet counters and they stink so bad. Two women's stalls for hundreds of people. The ceilings dripped water on me today and when I looked up to see where it came from, I saw the most disgusting mold and patch jobs ever. So gross. I can't believe health inspectors haven't shut this place down for mold. read more

We had a great time playing some recreation volleyball. We just started the league and it looks like fun. The overall area is old with some new improvements. Overall great area for sports and enough space to accommodate more games. read more

This place continues to get worse and worse. Bad enough I have to pay $10 dollars to get into watch my son play, but we come all the way from Tacoma (Panthers) this weekend and then I have to deal with terrible gym locations, rude people at the door, games, and a disorganized event. Today we are playing at some school in North Marion, WTH? Ridiculous. Shame on you guys. Ruining the experience for the kids. We need to talk to our coach, to not come back until they change EVERYTHING about their organization. Only reason why I give it 1 star is because we didn't have to play at their home court, the Salem Hoop! Yuck! C'mon people this is the Mecca for hoops! Hardcore hoopers hone their skills here. These volleyball babies crying make me want to puke. When you have hundreds of people sweating and playing hard there is moisture. We play out east and every tournament is 15 a game, and they have the first game Fri. Night. It costs a lot to run these tournaments with officials, scorekeepers, venue and other overhead. Please don't bitch about the price. It's cheap! I'm just glad they are willing to put in the tremendous effort so our kids can be happy and have a place to hone their skills. If you don't like it, pull your entitled kids out and give them a video game on the couch. read more

Pretty disappointing... this place is obviously for basketball... but we had a volleyball tournament here. They couldn't even manage to raise the basketball hoops... Come On! How hard is it to hold a switch down & raise the dang hoops... Huge hindrance to volleyball games! Not to mention their advertising tapestries... again huge hindrance! Ugh! Everything is dirty, leaking roof, rickety bleachers, torn up nets. I wish they could hold my grandsons bb tournaments somewhere else. Somebody is making a ton of money, does not seem to be anything reinvested. If you don't want to do basic upkeep, sell to someone who will. read more

We have played in a tournament here a few times and each time it gets more unorganized and more discouraging. This place is all about the money only. They don't care about the kids or the actual game. They skim corners every way possible to make a penny. This last tournament they charged spectators $10 a day and made a parent run the clock without crediting them admission! Why should we as parents have to pay to do their job? On top of that most of the time clocks are broken. They allow teams to enter that they know play dirty and kids get hurt. They change game times without notifying coaches and wait until last minute to update brackets to determine game times and locations. I absolutely do not recommend this place!!! read more

This is one of the worst facilities you can play basketball in. How this place charges what they do and still stays in business is beyond me. The refs kicking people out of the building and then abusing their power to kick kids out of the game because his feelings get hurt to the score boards shutting off intermittently through the game need I go on? Let's not forget the unbearable temperatures inside the facility and the dirty bathrooms and locker rooms it's ridiculous really. Something needs to be done about this place because it is flat out awful. I would make it zero stars if yelp allowed it is that bad. read more

Today my son played in a 4th/5th tournament at the Salem Hoop, he has been playing basketball for 4 years and I have never experienced anything like I did today! The coach of our opposing team was out of control, he was yelling at the refs the entire game, calling them idiots, jumping up and down like a toddler throwing a tantrum, had 2 technicals....yet he was never kicked out of the game!!! We couldn't understand why they were letting him continue to act this way....then we find out that he was friends with the owners son, who was there watching this all take place!!!! WE WILL NEVER PLAY A TOURNAMENT AT THE SALEM HOOP AGAIN & NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!!!! read more

Anyone know how to get membership refunded. We had paid memberships for our kids, due to covid-19 they have not been able to play in any tournaments or utilize the facility at all since we purchased membership. We have gotten no cooperation on their and whatsoever read more

Not clean, over charged for admissions for a facility without adequate heat. The bathrooms were disgusting and not all working.

We've been here a couple times for volleyball. This place is filthy. The ceiling has visible black mold. The walls were literally driipping and wet on the entire surface when it was raining out. How has the health department not shut this place down? read more

I've had the opportunity to visit The Hoop for the forth time in as many years today...Bottom Line? The owners know how to run this great venue. They treat people like family and are so much fun to be around... We come here for our daughters volleyball tourneys and find the courts clean, warm, and comfortable...Good parking is also a nice touch. Only one more year of club volleyball and we'll miss this place but hopefully, we'll be back as spectators when our daughter is 1) a coach and/or 2) a parent...
