    Chicken soup
    Keisha R.

It's in an office building so that was surprising. We found it on google and tried it out. The guy working there is very nice and friendly. The beef empanada was so good. It was stuffed! Fries were crispy. The chicken soup could have used a little more flavor but it was good. We finished it al. Overall, if you're in the Hillcrodr area and want some Uruguayan food try this spot. They also have pizza, burgers, fries, sandwiches, etc.

Beef empanada and cream pastry (sorry don't know the Uruguayan name)

Hidden in a little office building but definitely worth the trip! Empanadas were fresh and delicious and they had lots of other Uruguayan goodies....the seating is a limited (3 tables I think?) because the place is small.

This is a small deli inside a building between the Colorado and the Hilton. It's above average because the place offers pizzas, pastas, beef sandwiches, and empanadas. While they have a variety of desserts behind the glass display including napoleon and different types of pies, bakery day is Saturday with many Uruguayan pastries. The gentleman behind the counter, Alejandro, is very nice. He does need though to get a helper. He does both the cooking and the charging money part. I initially went there about two weeks ago. I ordered a personal pizza. He puts whatever toppings you want on it. He also asks you how thick you want the pizza crust. It was delicious. Seeing a delicious sandwich on the FB page is what took me there today. I had an option to get it with fish. It comes with olives, bacon, egg, cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce and onions. I held off on the bacon. Why did I take a star off? The sandwich was too salty and the fish was overcooked. As a side, I chose a Russian potato salad instead of fries. I've had better ones. It needs more spunk. A customer was eating the beef version of the sandwich called chivito. He seemed to enjoy it. The huge sandwich and a side are about $18. That's more than I was expecting to pay for a sandwich. But I have four meals as I can only eat one quarter at a time. He also adds a lot of garnishes. I look forward to visiting on a Saturday for bakery day.

    Authentic facturas await...

This is a small and unmarked place tucked away in an office building next to Colorado Club. Unassuming and simple decor with the friendliest owner/cook you've ever met. Alejandro is from Uruguay and brings authentic South American delicacies for us to enjoy. They also cater and deliver. I went for the facturas which are small pastries that feature different ingredients and come in differently shapes. They are made the traditional way with the inclusion of lard in the dough. We picked up a dozen and enjoyed them at home with our coffee and they were glorious. My next visit will be to try their pizzas. 8 a.m Monday to Saturday is the opening time when you can get fresh out of the oven "facturas". I'd also like to try their empanadas next.

    Good food...good service

In the…read morelast couple of years since moving from NYI, I haven't found many legit Venezuelan options until recently here at Sabor Venezolano. I'm pleased to report that the food lives up to the name and most everything was quite sabroso and very Venezuelan. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside, but seating is really limited to solo diners and small groups. There are counter seats toward the back and small cafe tables in the front. There are some refrigerated items for grab and go while ordering is done at the counter. I'd recommend calling ahead of time for faster pickup. If you're able to order in Spanish, do it. The food gets a thumbs up. Much of the menu is Venezuelan specific which includes cachapas, arepas, tumbarachos, patacondes, and tequeños. While they have a "menú Mexicano" that features quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and tortas, I'd avoid it if at all possible. The arepas might appear to be smaller, but they're packed. I personally loved their jamón y queso guayanés, in which the latter is a thick slab of gooey cheese. A similar arepa is their mechada y queso guayanés, which is equally tasty and I appreciate that they have cazón (#1) as an option. The pelua (beef + cheese) and reina (shredded chicken with avocado) will be my perpetual favorites and the cachapas with tequeños are also particularly hearty. The food is a bit pricier than most Venezuelan fare I've had previously, foodflation never surprises me anymore. Given how often I'm in the neighborhood, I already know that I'll be here more often than not. __________ (#1) Nothing like a little shark to get your day started.

Solid Venezuelan food…read more If you are craving tequeños, an arepa, empanada, or such victuals, this is a solid spot. Counter service, order and they bring your food to your table. Ambiance is an ethnic strip mall restaurant, with Latin flavor. Salsa music playing, people coming and going is it what is. I'm a fan.
