Our lab Maggie has been going to THG for almost 2 years now. I can't express enough how much we LOVE The Hounds Grounds. We completed the Basic Obedience Class with instructors Christine and Melissa and they really helped us understand how to train our dog. They were thorough, patient, and had many great tips. Bailey is a lab and overly excited all the time. In fact, he almost got kicked out of the first class because he didn't know how to calm himself down and became a distraction to the class. In the 6 weeks of training, he has learned to calm himself down, stay in sit/down position a long duration of time, go to "place", recall, and do loose leash walking. The best part was that the class was held outdoors with many real life distractions surrounding them, i.e. people walking their dogs, kids scootering around, families having BBQ's, squirrels, gophers, etc. We highly recommend The Hounds Grounds. We did the two week board and train last year and recently had our dog do a one week staycation while we were out of town. There is no greater comfort while on vacation than knowing your dog is being taken care of and having a good time. Brandi was so great in training our dog last year and she always gives insightful tips when we talk to her. The Hounds Grounds is EVERYTHING you want in a dog training facility! The staff there loves our dog and he loves them right back. We got a puppy during Covid and knew that once he got all his vaccinations, we would need to train US and socialize HIM to other dog and people. We couldn't have found a better place. The basic obedience course had to be done socially distanced, masked and outdoors in a park full of distractions but the trainers, Christine and Melissa, were FANTASTIC in not just teaching us the foundational things all dogs need, but made it fun for both us and our puppy. At just 5 months, our rambunctious Bearded Collie puppy has a solid and consistent sit/stay/down/place and recall. I now understand that like kids, dogs understand "always" and they understand "never", but the inconsistent "some times-yes-sometimes-no" will wreck your training efforts every time. They did such a great job of teaching US how to teach our fur babies. We also send Archie to their drop off Dog Club on Thursdays, a 7-4 day care where he continues to get much needed socialization and reinforcement of the lessons he learned in the basic obedience class. The hounds grounds is the best daycare in Orange County! I used to take my collie to a standard daycare close to where I live but realized she was not enjoying it. she would pull away from the facility and on the cameras looked so bored. She wouldn't socialize or do anything. At first I was hesitant to make the switch to hounds grounds as it is a 30 minute drive for me and they have strict drop off and pick up times. But after seeing the first video of her there I knew I made a good choice! She was playing with all the other dogs and doing cool things like agility courses, practicing her obedience, and much more. Now when I take my dog she doesnt even remember I exist because she is so happy going into the facility (and to be honest seems disappointed when I pick her up becuase she wants to stay longer!). She listen to all my problems and gave me positive reinforcement exercises to work through with my dog. The controlled social interaction, obedience reinforcement and overall mental wellbeing Club Dog provides is unstoppable. Not your traditional (thankfully) doggy daycare. These furry kids learn the whole time they are there while they are having fun. I have called with situations/questions and the team gives me pointers that work! Such an amazing trainings facility. It has a small community vibe but very inviting and knowledgeable- everything you want when you're a new pet owner and completely lost. I went for an eval and they recommended services there as well as referring me to an outside source for alternative training. Today we came back from puppy social and our fearful puppy absolutely loved it! They helped us navigate how to introduce or dog to the group and advocate for him in that setting. Within time he was running around with a new friend. I went from having an absolutely fearful dog that lunges at other dogs to a dog that wants to play with every other dog all with the help of Hounds Grounds. Our Chocolate Labrador Shaq and I just completed the 6-weeks outdoor obedience class with Christine and Melissa and it was challenging and so rewarding. The trainers at The Hounds Grounds have years of experience and really take the time with you and your dog to get you in a good place with a well-behaved dog. I had also completed the obedience training a couple years ago with our 2-1/2 year old Black Labrador Kobe and he was a challenge as he was quite the puller on the leash. The trainers (Christine and Brandi) spent the extra one-on-one time with me that I needed to get a better handle on leash work with him. I bring up going through the training with both dogs because each dog is different and has their special training needs and I learned so much with the training that I did with each dog. I brought my rescue pit bull here for training and it was amazing. I learned so much just from one session, and I can't wait to go back for more. My pup is typically a rough player/mouthy, needs to learn a lot of leash manners, and gets extremely excited/jumpy around mealtimes or when being given food. BEST dog training in Orange County!!!! I have multiple dogs of different ages, so it's been hard to find a place that has it all...but they do!!!! All levels of obedience, I'm working on my youngest getting her Canine Good Citizen Certification, Scentwork, Agility and I even take my dogs for massages by their fantastic canine massage therapist!! I recently started Scent101 with my dog at The Hounds Grounds. I had heard great things about their training and have attended a few very informative workshops there but hadn't actually done any hands on training classes until now. Let me just say, "Amazing!!" This class is challenging and a lot of fun. Trainer Brandi is so insightful with these dogs it just blows me away. She's also very patient and I really appreciate that. She even gives us homework to do in between classes with handouts and videos to help. I like this bcuz it's great bonding and fun time with my little meatstick plus it uses lots of her energy so she's worn out n calm. They've also helped me with some behavioral issues and I'm already seeing a difference in my girl. I've taken obedience classes elsewhere and learned nothing close to what Hounds Grounds has taught me. This training is so worth the 45 mins drive for us.
