I normally stay at the Downtown Proper when visiting DTLA but decided to try the Hoxton because I was traveling with a friend and wanted two adjoining rooms. I called this hotel in May to ask about adjoining rooms for an event in July. They inform me that both rooms need to be upgraded to the "Biggie" type in order to do this - I agree to this and book for both upgraded rooms. Fast forward to check-in in July, I ask to confirm that the two rooms I booked are adjoining and they say they are not because they had to move the rooms around due to a wedding party taking priority above us. I am disappointed but ask if it's possible for my two rooms to be near each other or at least on the same floor and also mention that the only reason I upgraded the rooms in the first place was to have them be adjoining. The guy at the front desk says our rooms are nowhere near each other, but offers two rooms next to each other if I'm willing to downgrade one of the rooms to a "standard" room. This would have been an acceptable solution but he went on to insist that if I downgraded any of the rooms I would still have to pay for the upgraded larger room price and that they were absolutely unwilling to refund me the difference. For a reservation I made months in advance where they themselves told me to upgrade for adjoining rooms - now that they failed to give me what I paid for the best they can do is give me a smaller room for the price of an upgraded room? There's no reason they couldn't have just given me the difference. On top of this all of the hotel staff at every interaction were just generally unwilling to help. When we asked for help with bags they shoved a cart at us and walked away - they wouldn't even hold the elevator door while we tried to maneuver it in? (also some of their elevators were broken the entire time we stayed here so the doors closed on the cart while we were loading it) The only good things about this hotel is the Moonlark dinette had great service and the pool area is a bit nicer than the neighboring Proper hotel but I would never stay here again. read more

The only reason im giving them 2 star is because the reception gave us a complimentary upgrade upon checking but later we saw that there was a charge for it !!!!! read more

My experience with The Hoxton Hotel was defined by 2 main things: 1. Beautiful Historical art deco hotel with super friendly and helpful staff 2. Very limited (safe) parking options as well as nighttime noise problems. The Good: Love this style and vibe of this boutique hotel. In the rooms, there are many cute little features that add charm -- see photos of vent and light switch and retro decor. I did not get to try the restaurants but they look gorgeous especially the rooftop one. I peeked at the pool area near the restaurant; You can get a fantastic view of the city from there. The spaces are all kept quite clean and tidy. My room was small-moderate Queen size. You go through the door and the entryway is also your bathroom and though I admire how clever they work with the space, some area could have been improved. For instance, the water closet had more space than it needed. I really like the closed-door shower area though. Garbage bins were a bit hard to find (one in the WC and the other at the far end corner of the room by the bed). Then the TV is kind of awkwardly placed all the way near the window. Nowhere near center to the bed. I was drawn to this hotel for the perk of it being very dog friendly (and it is!). They provide dog treats, beds and bowls. The only issue I found was lack of potty space for dogs. I understand given the location on the streets but perhaps a faux grass spot can be made around a corner in the alley, near the restaurant could be made. OR a small patch of grass space created on the rooftop area! Then it would REALLY be dog-friendly. The Bad: Valet is $66 per night. PER NIGHT. And good luck parking on any of the lots nearby on the street (not associated with the hotel). There's a HIGH CHANCE your car will be smashed and vandalized. I initially tried the lot across the street and when we got back from dinner to park, these poor guys' car window was smashed and they said several other cars were smashed too. The lots claim they're surveilled 24hr, but that's a lie. Unless there's a 24/7 lot attendant, I would NOT trust these streets. I already paid for the whole weekend already ($52) and there's probably no chance to get a refund. So don't feed into these terrible lots. Risk of vandalism is high. Noise: I had requested ahead of time and upon arrival to hopefully be roomed in a quieter part of the hotel. But I've come to find out, this area is NOT good if you want peace and quiet. If you want nightlife sounds while you're out on the town AND when you get to your room, then sure, this is your place. I stayed on the 10th floor and starting at 10pm until 2:15AM, There was an incessant deep rumbling sound, as if someone's Escalade was parked outside the building blasting bass music. I guess it was a club down the street somewhere. If you're someone who can't sleep through this constant rumbling like me, then this will NOT be a nice evening experience. Fortunately, staff was incredible kind enough to help me change to a quieter room (shoutout to Kevian (?sp)) at 1:30 AM. The space usage and orientation of the larger rooms was better and I had no further issues. Yes, you can still hear the city din in the background but no longer the "pounding-headache" rumble from before. For some reason, it was so much more noticeable at the top-most floor. All in all, I really loved my experience here at the Hoxton and my fur baby boys also had a great time too. I would LOVE to return and want to give a 5 stars, but the 2 main issues (parking and noise) above really kept it from being a seamless experience for me. Well, it's LA... :/ read more

I didn't get the opportunity to explore the food or drinks as planned I got a rooftop pass for the pool and they had zero pool service or food today what's the purpose to even sell a rooftop pool pass and on top of into a single lounge chair only floor cushions that are so uncomfortable especially if you want to take a nap and relax. I was already planning on ordering food and when I asked the worker adding towels she said 11 am hour has passed and nothing open it is closed except for the Resturant downstairs .. so I called my Waymo to come and get me and to top it off the elevator was broken and I could t get down missing my Waymo because it took more then 5 min to walk down every single flight of stairs when I have back and neck issues it just was not the best first impression ( don't think I'll be back for pool .. the experience has made me not want to even come back for the food .. my back is crying after sitting in this chair read more

The location of this hotel is not the greatest, but it is a totally different world inside. The rooms are very nice and clean, the people are very helpful and everything works. They even give free canned drinking water to the guests. I went to the rooftop swimming pool twice and it was great---the water temperature was pretty comfortable. I ate breakfast once---it was pretty good. Overall, I was very happy with my stay there and would gladly stay there again. read more

The communication between the text service to the hotel staff was way off , there was a wait time of about 40-50 minutes wait for ice twice , the AC did not work , it was very warm at night . The room was very clean , but staff did not service the room and had to be messaged to service the room . Person that checked us in was so friendly , but other staff members were not , specifically the host at the breakfast restaraunt hotel . Kay at the restaraunt was amazing to us , the manager at the roof restaraunt was attentive and food was amazing . Pool was good and quiet and very clean, We were out right next to the boiler room ,"pressure valve room " and we heard non stop slamming every 15-20 minutes , on going through the night , not sure if it was also used as a storage room . Key cards had to be swiped a couple of times for them to work , the hotel is aesthetically amazing looking , and with better communication with their messaging system it could be an amazing experience , and figuring out the parking as well . Awesome hotel! The room was adorable, the rooftop restaurant had delicious food and a fun, lively vibe, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. One standout perk: if you book directly through the hotel's website, they offer an extended late checkout option--which was a game-changer for us. My fiancé and I were in town for my uncle's funeral in Hollywood Hills. We live over 85 miles east in SoCal and brought our three little dogs, who we treat like our children. Since the service was early and the reception followed, we needed a safe, comfortable place for our fur babies to stay during the day. I went to The Hoxton in Downtown LA mostly for the bars and food, and I can confidently say that was the right decision. I started downstairs at the lobby bar, telling myself I was only going to have one drink. That plan immediately fell apart. It doesn't feel like a hotel bar at all. It feels like a place you'd actually choose to meet friends. The drinks were genuinely good, not just "fine," and the whole space felt relaxed and social without trying too hard. I remember thinking that if this was the warm-up, the rest of the night was going to be dangerous. Then I made my way up to Cabra on the rooftop, which completely lived up to the hype. For the price, the rooms feel like such a steal and way more thoughtful than most downtown hotels. I'd say the style is like a quirky vintage modern. My partner and I love coming here for little staycations. Most of the rooms we've booked have had king beds and spacious standing showers. We even had a surprise corner room once where the bed was unfortunately smaller than we're used to but we didn't mind because the bathroom had a tub! Super rare in hotels nowadays. The location is clutch and right in the mix of downtown. Everything's walkable but once you're inside the hotel, it feels like a little escape. Ridiculous. I tried to book a room for this weekend at The Hoxton Downtown LA on the Hoxton's website using my referral code for 15% off, but the rate is exactly the same with or without the code and in the price breakdown it shows no 15% discount. I tried emailing their reservations department but heard nothing back. So I called. I pressed option #1 for "Reservations" but the line was silent and nobody picked up and no recording came on or anything...yet the call was connected. So I called again and pressed option #4 to "Speak to a Team Member." The guy that answered was from the front desk, I believe his name was George, and while he was very friendly he knew absolutely nothing. About anything. I asked who could help me with this issue because I've been trying to book for this weekend! He said he really didn't know. But he said he'd look for a contact number. He fumbled around for over two minutes then told me he was giving me an email address for reservations. When he began giving me the email address, I recognized it as the same email I had already emailed asking for help with this issue, but had received no response. He had no other ideas what to do and he works at the front desk! So this was really absolutely ridiculous to not be able to get any help booking a room with a referral code discount they provided! This property recently won a Booking.com Traveller Review Award. Our experience did not reflect that. We booked the Biggy room and received a room that matched the Roomy listing on every visible detail, including size. When we sent management a photo comparison using their own website images, they responded that: "...almost no two rooms are exactly alike. Because of the historic structure and triangular footprint, layouts and design details shift quite a bit room to room -- even within the same category....It's part of what gives the building its character, though I completely appreciate it can also create confusion when comparing website photography to a specific assigned room." If that is true, it raises a real question about what guests are actually paying for when they select a specific room type. We paid for a Biggy and got a Roomy, and when we pointed that out with photographic evidence, we were met with "explanations" rather than accountability. On check-in: we booked directly through the Hoxton website to use their Flexy Time policy, which allows you to choose your own check-in time when booking direct. Our confirmation stated after 12am check-in time. We called ahead before arriving and were told that no room was available until at least 5am. We waited in our car for a while somewhere safe, then decided to just drive to the hotel and try talking to someone on-site. Staff checked us in, but not before letting us know we should not have tried checking in until 5am. A room was available and ready the entire time. The General Manager later confirmed in writing that our booking was valid and should have been honored any time after 12am. The room itself had no airflow. Adjusting the thermostat had no effect whatsoever. The room had not been properly cleared of a prior guest's belongings. We were on the second floor facing the main street and were woken up around 8-9am by music bass thumping from the hotel's own restaurant below, on top of significant street noise throughout the day. We got roughly four hours of sleep after a long day of driving. The valet staff were the one bright spot. read more

Unfortunately reason I gave it 4 stars is because the rooftop bar was closed, was looking forward to it but not sure why it was not available. But we we're able to enjoy the views and the pool. Also tried the restaurant downstairs and it was good but definitely a little pricey. Also did not like that there was no parking. Had to pay valet wish they had free parking for guest or some type of all day price for guest staying there. Overall it was good. Would stay here again. read more

Unfortunately, my experience did not match expectations based on the listing. The room appeared different from the photos, and upon arrival it did not feel properly cleaned. There were opened snacks left in the cabinet, and the overall condition of the room raised concerns. They also didnt have robes or slippers during my stay.. which is unheard of at a hotel.. Additionally, the bed caused noticeable discomfort and itchiness, which made it difficult to rest. Due to these issues, I was uncomfortable continuing my stay and chose to cancel the next day but they are saying they cannot refund me for the second day despite all these issues. read more

I stayed at the Hoxton after escaping the Eaton fire, and I'm incredibly grateful for the hotel staff. They were kind, friendly, and helpful. I've become a lifelong Hoxton fan and will stay at their other locations in the future. During the fires, many hotels in the LA area engaged in shady practices, trying to profit from people's tragedies by price gouging. Hoxton, on the other hand, remained honest and transparent. The building and rooms are beautifully renovated. On the ground floor, there's a cute and stylish diner serving delicious breakfast and brunch, as well as a nice Peruvian restaurant and a rooftop bar on the highest level. The shower in my room was amazing. The only minor issue I had was with the light switches--they were a bit tricky to use. You have to turn them on and off slowly. The hotel is located in the South Park area of DTLA, which has been gentrified and is improving every year. There are many great restaurants and bars nearby. The Crypto Arena, the LA Convention Center, and the LA Metro station are just a 10-minute walk away. The famous Proper Hotel is across the street, and both Whole Foods and Ralph's are within a 10-minute walk. There's also a CVS on the corner. Other nearby attractions include the Orpheum Theatre, the beautifully renovated Apple Store at the Tower Theatre, and the Fashion District. The Last Bookstore and Grand Central Market are about a 15-20 minute walk away. read more

This was my first stay at The Hoxton. I've done a number of staycations in this area, staying at Hoxton's neighbour hotel across the street, the Proper DTLA, where I enjoyed dining events held at their Caldo Verde restaurant. The hotels have many similarities: both are housed in renovated historic buildings, can be described as "hip", have ground level and rooftop eateries helmed by chefs of note, rooftop pools and views, very nice non-cookie-cutter design/decor. There are just under 15 Hoxton hotels worldwide, there are 4 Proper hotels in the US with more planned. The Hoxton is part of the Dis-Loyalty hotel membership program. A stay at The Proper earns Marriott Bonvoy points. I would say overall the rates at The Hoxton are less than The Proper. The Hoxton has 4 room sizes and no suites, whereas The Proper also has about 4 room sizes plus numerous suites, including their signature Basketball and Pool suites. The Hoxton has a very nice feature called Flexy Time where you can choose your check-in and check-out time (surely within reason); I was able to get my room before noon. Since I was just staying one night, I chose the smallest room, the Cosy Queen. It was petite but nicely decorated. The closet was an open rack with a rod and shelves; it held a tray with a hot water kettle, coffee and tea fixings. There was an retro-looking clock radio on the nightstand, which also had a selection of books and a fridge with canned water and milk. There was a small table with 2 comfy chairs. The TV did not work and no one came up to fix it although I called the front desk. The bathroom was also nicely done, with a shower with 2 heads and great pressure. In the room and throughout the hotel are items with cute bon mots such as "Clean me up Scotty" on the laundry bag, "It's hot" "You're hotter" on the coffee mugs. Also in the room was a bag that can be left on the hook outside your door for a small breakfast delivery. The hotel's website says the breakfast is free until 3/31/25, but the bag itself says it's $5. I was charged $5. It included a tasty container of overnight non-dairy oats, a can of OJ and an apple. Although I did not dine on-site this visit, I have tried both restaurants in the past. On the roof surrounding the pool is Cabra, a Peruvian small-plates place from famed chef Stephanie Izard (Girl and the Goat). Very tasty food, but not inexpensive. The offer dinner and weekend brunch. The ground floor restaurant has gone through at least 3 iterations; I've tried the 2 most recent. It's now called Moonlark's Dinette, which offers delish comfort food for breakfast and lunch. I fondly remember the latke and smoked salmon and the Monte Cristo sandwich. They used to have a dinner menu but no more. And the space used to be famed chef Daniel Rose's Cafe Basque, which was good but perhaps too esoteric and not the best fit for an accessible hotel restaurant. There's also a morning coffee spot and an evening bar in the lobby. Overall a short but sweet stay. In my opinion, you can't go wrong at either The Hoxton or The Proper. read more

As a Yelp elite dork, you bet I scavenged all the rating platforms for the best hotels within a specific price range. Also, as a solo female driving from San Diego for Substance Fest at the Belasco, I knew I didn't want a quick turnaround after a fun filled night of goth scene shenanigans and drinking. Plus, with a reasonable checkout time as late as "before noon", I wanted to sleep in and still get to enjoy a little LA mid morning fun. After I narrowed down my options, I looked no further than The Hoxton and I will absolutely be back for a longer self-care weekend extravaganza. Tips/statements/observations: - Take the hit and pay for overnight valet unless you want to pay slightly less with way higher of a risk parking at a nearby Ace lot where you'd have to deal with the pain in the ass trudging along the blocks with your luggage. (With valet, you're entitled to in and out privileges so you can explore and return without paying extra) - Don't be a goof like me and forget to fill out the little $5 breakfast bag and hang it on your door at night. I ordered room service for $16 and it was superb but next time I'll remember to hook myself up for a third of that price. - Your room key is needed to take the elevator, so rest assured that anyone prowling the halls actually belongs there. - I did myself a favor and cross compared options via Airbnb and it doesn't get better than this for amenities, proximity to venues, and creature comforts. I feel like Airbnb is great for unique stays off grid in the desert but for city exploring, you can't do yourself an injustice by not taking advantage of being a little spoiled luxe hotel brat. read more

The Hoxton is housed in the former Los Angeles Railway building which originally opened in 1922. In the 100 years since, the historic building has also been home to a grocery store, a restaurant, a candy store and a garment manufacturer. The 10-story Beaux Arts building is in the heart of the revived neon-soaked Broadway Theatre District, which includes 12 movie theatres built between 1910 and 1931. More recently, the London-based Hoxton brand has been painstakingly renovating the historic building to create an open-house hotel inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes surrounding it. Inside The Hoxton, the brand's in-house design studio at Ennismore collaborated with SoHo House to design a ground floor lobby with Art Deco elements peppered throughout, floral motifs, bold colors, eye-catching artwork, and geometric patterns with touches of French influence. I can't recommend this hotel enough! From the staff to the actual cleanliness of the hotel. I have never felt so comfortable in a hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The security is great and ensure safety especially if you are traveling alone. The check-in process was amazing and the instructions were very clear. The room was spacious and I love how the shower and the bathroom are separate. It gives you a really great sense of privacy. I stayed on the 10th floor and I loved how quiet but scenic the room was. The Wi-Fi was accessible. The food was amazing. I love how we get complementary tea and coffee. They always made sure that I had enough water and ice in my room. If you were looking to stay in a hotel in Los Angeles, you need to stay here. read more

Love this hotel! It's not only gorgeous, the staff is amazing too. I've had breakfast at their restaurant and adored the decor. I had to add the hotel to my bookmarks and was so excited to finally stay for the night. Upon check in, you're greeted by wonderful staff and offered goodies from their snack cabinet, which includes some amazing drinks to choose from. A special touch that I'll always remember was the check in greeting card that had a special message and drawing by the staff as my stay was a gift from my daughters and husband. It was the sweetest. Another amazing perk is you have the option to check in early! The room was beautiful, as expected. I loved all the details in the room. My stay was great because the staff was incredibly accommodating. I called in advance to ask about streaming but they didn't have any. So I went prepared with my fire stick. I wasn't able to connect it myself and didn't want to damage the mounted tv, so I called the front desk and they had their engineer come up and connect it for me. It's a good thing I called because he had to remove the tv in order to connect it. I loved that I didn't have to leave the hotel if I didn't want to. There are two restaurants, two bars and a coffee bar as well. There's the option to order room service from Moonlark's Dinette (downstairs) and also sit down options for both restaurants. I really enjoyed the club sandwich and chips and the cheeseburger and fries from Moonlark's. The restaurant itself is also beautiful. The drinks were amazing at the rooftop bar/restaurant Cabra. The views are gorgeous and there's a pool (3ft) for those warm days. Loved: Coffee pot in the room with complimentary coffee and tea. Mini refrigerator Complimentary water and milk in the mini refrigerator. My goal is to stay at every Hoxton. So far, I've only been to The Hoxton Chicago and LA. I just simply love this hotel. I felt right at home - the staff, bar tender that gave us dinner recommendations, the atmosphere, it was exactly what we were looking for. My boyfriend's parents joined us on this trip all the way from Germany. They loved it. We drove from Ventura and got valet parking for our first night. After that we used SpotHero which was a lot more affordable than valet. The stay was effortless, beds were comfortable, rooms were squeaky clean and the bathrooms were perfect. The Hoxton is such a unique hotel, you have everything in one place. They have a small restaurant, Moonlark's Dinette, which we got small bites and appetizers from. We ate them in the bar area on the other side of the reception desk. Great, cozy corner to unwind after a day of being out and about. Cabra is the restaurant on the rooftop, we tried to get last minute reservations but they were fully booked. The hotel wasn't too occupied, at least it didn't feel like it, and we all felt like VIPs, truly. Located in the heart of downtown LA, being from Chicago and knowing what a true downtown should like, LA's isn't pretty. BUT our stay felt elevated thanks to The Hoxton. My experience here from beginning to end, walking in the building to checking out was exceptional. The entire staff is amazing but Daja checked me in and she was professional, kind, generous and while being so personable and friendly. I was recently going to stay at the Hoxton LA. I don't usually do this, but I was so satisfied with how it was handled that I am deciding to write a review. I would like to give a big shoutout to Michael Beers, who is part of the Front Desk team. This gentleman went above and beyond to help and accommodate me. If someone with this kind of high standard is working there, then they are doing something right! I would most definitely book with them again. Booked a supposed-to-be night of workcation but I'm totally disappointed. I'm surprised it's a 4-star hotel given all the low-maintained facilities here. Check in process was easy. They allow early check in with no extra charge (I was like an hour early). I requested a quiet room but I don't know if I ended up staying in one or not because my room still has street noise, despite it's on the 10th floor, which is the highest floor of the hotel. The room was VERY SMALL, just small enough to fit a bed and about 1m walking space around it. Bathroom has a curtain that's pretty much see through. Although the room was on the high floor, I was quite uncomfortable. Water power is great. The shower room door didn't close properly if you didn't force it. I got some unexpected water dripped from the door on the dry toilet area. I found it strange that they kept the refrigerator in a closed cupboard, and when you opened the cupboard, the heat from the refrigerator flushed out. The refrigerator was not that cold either. There was an internet radio in the room with good sound quality, which I think was the best thing of this disappointing stay. I requested a microwave to heat my food, which was pretty nice. The water is free of charge and unlimited! They're delivered to your room upon request. I really appreciate this because US hotels usually don't do it. Rooftop looked light and bright from the surface. The area was also not overly used. BUT if you actually go into the water, the pool was VERY DIRTY. Dead insects were flowing around. I have no idea when was the last time they changed the water and cleaned the pool. There was some green moss/lichen (idk what should I call it but basically the green stuff that grow on damped area). I regretted going into the water!! Wifi was a total garbage. It disconnected every 5 minutes on my 2021 mac. I was planning to book a ticket for something that opened at 10am. Then it disconnected and didn't connect back. I had to use my phone's data but it's too late to book already! Online shopping also barely load. Totally useless wifi. Very disappointed. A workcation was impossible from this hotel! With all these bad experiences, not to mentioned I had trouble claiming their promotional booking made through THEIR website. It took almost a month after the stay to be sorted. My worst high-star hotel experience ever.. I will not be back and do not recommend. read more

They are all very service-driven, with fun engagement and general care about the 'customer.' The room was nice, well equipped, and had a cool waterfall shower. In short, the staff is incredible. The problem: I used the valet on the first night we arrived; downtown parking can be sketchy at night. However, on our second night, we used a city parking lot (we have proof from the ticket and pictures I took). The Hoxton, however, charged me $60 for a second night of Valet, and then two resources that responded to my email on the overcharge/error doubled down and indicated the valet confirmed I parked my car there the second day. This statement is 100% a lie or the result of inadequate vehicle tracking capability. Unfortunately, after a week of correspondence, I'll have to turn this over to my credit card company for resolution. Summary: The staff was indeed awesome, all of them. However, it's disappointing that their management did not do their due diligence in researching the incorrect charge. Their inability to track cars in their possession is a concern. Honestly really frustrated with the manager Mike. Made an impromptu decision to stay on Labor Day. Booked the night before and accidentally booked for check out on Monday not check in on Monday. I called the next day to let them know I'd be coming in for early check in. Woman at the desk was super chill and said yup we'll have your room ready for you. When I got there there was only one person at the desk, and she was on the phone. I waited. This should have been the first red flag. She finished her phone call and I went to check in. She could not locate my booking. I pulled up the email. And she said oh that's check out on Monday, not check in on Monday. I asked her if there was a way to change the reservation and she said yes because it was booked directly through the website. She took my card for incidentals and then showed me a breakfast bag that she said since I booked online with a code I got free breakfast. I went to the room. Stay was fine. Room was fine. Service at the restaurant was bad- I wanted to order drinks to take up to the pool, got sent to the bar. Stood there no one greeted me-- the bartender seemed to be a service bartender. I walked back to the front, I was confused. Staff stood around. And I just left. At night I went for a walk and came back. I checked with the front desk about borrowing a charger. A Spanish speaking couple walked in and walked to the elevator. The woman at the front desk called out to the, this is for hotel guest only. We all got into the elevator- they tapped their room card, I tapped mine. I thought hmm, that was odd. I checked out and thought you know that wasn't bad. I live in LA but am DTLA often and would stay there so I didn't have to drive home. But when I got my bill everything change. I got a "folio" for one night stay. Great. Then I got an update "folio" for one night stay and $35 for stained sheets. I had my cycle and leaked a little. I wrote the hotel saying I had never been charged period tax for stained sheets. No response. Then my credit card statement clears and there's three charges. Two nights and the $35 for the sheet. I call the hotel twice before anyone answers. I explain that there's two charges. The woman says she only sees one and puts me on hold to talk to her manager. She comes back on and explains one night is for the night I didn't stay but no showed and one night is for the night I stayed. I explained I was told it my reservation was moved and I was frustrated about being deceived. I apologize to her about my frustration and asked to be transferred to the manager. And this is where the old adage the fish rots from the head down is illustrated. Mike was just unhelpful and inhospitable. He explained that I was charged a no show fee because the inventory was reserved for me and unable to be sold. Mike i booked the room the night before when rooms were deep discounted on all the booking sites because we both know you probably had a 50% occupancy. You weren't going to sell that room and I nor anyone else needs you to condescend.. He then told me he'd have to check in with the staff member and she didn't work til Tuesday. I told him I never got a receipt for the no show. He said oh you would have gotten a folio. He then tells me he send me that. Great Mike. No worries. Look, I made a mistake I booked the wrong day, but Jesus, train your staff better. I literally called for early check in no one told me I didn't have a Should have checked yelp because literally the last three reviews are bad. And I probably gonna get the same bot answer. Please send and email to our billing email. Damn hoxton I wanted to like you, but a little hospitality is a minimum. And clearly you don't have it. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Stylish with great service, but some quirks. We decided on the Hoxton for our DTLA weekend staycation because of its proximity to the places we wanted to visit and also for its relatively reasonable prices. We liked their fun, stylish retro decor, reminiscent of the 1930s and 40s. Our room was fairly large and comfortable, with a mini fridge. They had complimentary water, coffee, tea, and milk, and we loved that they try to minimize one-use plastics with a lot of cloth, wood, and metal items. So the quirks: They have no self serve ice machine. We had to call the front desk and request a bucket of ice. Inconvenient, but they were very quick. The second quirk wasn't really their fault, but they could've given us some warning. On our first morning, we got woken up very early by people protesting the Hotel Proper across the street. Air horns, chanting, etc. It took us a while to figure out what was going on, and we had to scramble for ear plugs. The protesters knocked off late morning, and they came back in the evening, but thank god they weren't there the next morning. Two mornings of that would've been a huge bummer. Everything else about our visit was great, though, and I wouldn't be averse to staying there again. read more

Top rate service throughout our experience over three nights, a Sunday-Wednesday. I had a conference in the area and last minute decided to bring the family - a wife and TKer. Staff was super helpful with a low cost room upgrade. The corner King was well appointed and anything we needed was delivered with a smile - extra milk, more coffee - a microwave to the room! The 3 ft pool was great for relaxing after wandering downtown, and Broadway is still a great street to explore during the day or early evening. Good restaurants close by (including in the building) and with a ~20 minute walk north. Again, the staff was the best! This stay reminded me why it's nice to make LA a staycation and we will be using The Hoxton as our base camp in the future. read more

When your working all day at a trade show and you come to check into your hotel, it would be nice to be greated by a friendly face with a good attitude. That was far from what happened and the same thing with a different employee when checking out last week. You were made to feel with an attitude like your intruding and a few guest took note to. Breakfast the next day we had to wait a good 10 mins. for cremer and asked 3 times for cream for our coffee . This past weekend I stayed at the Hoxton in downtown Los Angeles. It was a spectacular experience. After numerous flight delays and cancellations, when I finally arrived, I didn't want to leave. Matt greeted me with the utmost kindness and patience as we worked through the check-in process. The room that I stayed in was room 418 a corner suite with a pleasant view of downtown. The bed is easily one of the most comfortable beds I've experienced at any hotel! I knew after the first night that I would be extending my stay a bit longer. Prior to checking out The Hox I read many reviews re: the rooms being tight/cramped! I would have to strongly disagree. While the rooms are minimal they are certainly spacious enough and packed with everything you need. If you're like me and don't plan to leave your room a microwave is available upon request. The Hox is in the perfect location in downtown LA. Just a short walk away from Zara, Target, Nordstrom Rack, CVS, and numerous restaurants/lounges/and party spots. In an effort to exercise their commitment to sustainability they have bicycles that guests are able to ride if they would like to do so. One of the highlights of this experience is their rooftop & pool. There is a restaurant on the roof. Consider booking a reservation if you want to check it out as they get busy. The pool opens around sunrise which offers the perfect opportunity for reflection and relaxation. The entire property is gorgeous. Clean and comfortable throughout with a chic design. Stayed here last Friday night. I have always loved this hotel. It's beautiful and has great food and accommodations. Unfortunately I was charged $15 for a laundry bag? When I didn't do laundry. The front desk assured me the would refund it. A week later and it hasn't been refunded. I have sent screen shots of my Bank Statement and still have not received a resolution to this. I booked a five-day stay at the Hoxton Hotel to recover after being discharged from the hospital. The property is advertised online as a stylish and relaxing retreat, but my actual experience was extremely disappointing, with unprofessional service, unclean facilities, and fraudulent billing practices. Check-In Issues: I arrived at ~7:00 pm. The lobby was quiet with no other guests waiting. The front desk receptionist, Daija, ignored me for 30 minutes while on the phone with another guest. When she finally began my check-in, she stopped mid-process to take another phone call, leaving me waiting again. She claimed my name was not on the reservation, despite my providing screenshots of the request email sent that morning. She refused to proceed until the reservation holder (traveling with an infant) resent the email. Only after the email was resent did she continue. Her attitude throughout was rude and condescending. She demanded $778 in additional charges ($500 deposit + $278 in "LA Fees"). When asked for clarification, she had no explanation beyond "state fees." Because of these delays, I did not get into my room until after 10:00 pm -- too late for the restaurant or room service. Room & Facilities: No valet or door staff present; I had to park my own car and drag bags through heavy doors with no accessibility assistance. Room was small and dirty: hair and soap residue in the shower, only hand towels provided. Room phone went unanswered after multiple calls. Snack options limited to probiotic bars and soda; when I asked for alternatives, staff told me to "order Uber Eats." No smart TV, only two working channels (Fox News and ABC). Wi-Fi did not function. Early Checkout & Fraudulent Charges: Due to these issues, I checked out early the next morning. I spoke with the manager, Mike, who promised to email me a full breakdown of charges and release my deposit. Instead, I was charged $120 for a $66 breakfast, $60 for valet parking I never used, and a $40.67 "Destination Fee." These were fraudulent charges. After disputing, the valet charge was removed, but the breakfast and destination fee remained inflated. Despite promises, I have yet to receive the full refund of my unused nights or the $500 deposit. Conclusion: This experience involved unacceptable service, misleading fees, unsanitary conditions, and fraudulent billing. I am formally requesting a full refund of the unused nights, reversal of improper charges, and return of my deposit. read more

I was so excited to stay here but I was honestly really disappointed! I came up here with my boyfriend for a two day trip from San Diego. We pull up to the valet and are immediately dealt with attitude. I'm asking normal questions and he looks irritated and then he spoke to me extremely rude. Not to just me but my boyfriend too. Our first stop during our trip is the hotel and this guy already ruined my day- it costs you nothing to be nice! After dealing with the rude valet, we get into the hotel to check-in and the front desk kind of looked at us like if we were confused and in the wrong place (as if we didn't belong in there). We weren't dressed super nice-we literally were in a car for 3 hours to get here so we wanted to be comfy? But front desk literally looked at us confused as to why we were there. Later that day we probably encountered two other valets but they were actually very nice and I actually felt like they wanted to do their job. Our room was beautiful, hotel was center of everything and walking distance from some stuff we wanted to do but the customer service was not great here. Like I said, I'm just disappointed with it. I cannot get over how much i loved this hotel and am so glad that i was fortunate to stay here one night. I opted to just valet my car instead of looking for my own parking. Valet was easy to access, they were always avaialble and very nice. I went too go check in and there were two lovely people there and I can't remember their names, but I'll always remember their kindness. They immediately offered me water (which came in a can) and asked me how my day was going... I didn't say much, but I must have looked like a hot mess... It's a hotel in downtown, so it's likely that there would be some noise, especially considering that there was construction happening right across the street. My only request was if they could please giver me a quieter room and they were so generous to give me an east facing room that was closer to a quieter street. My room was so quiet, it was amazing! All the staff was friendly and helpful explaining the property and amenities. Jerry and Rocks assisted me at the front desk and really made my stay superb. The rooms have nice decor to match the historic building and the rooftop has a pool and restaurant with some of the best skyline views of downtown.
