What really makes this hotel outclass others is the kindness and genuine staff. That first impression really makes a difference and Manny greeted us upon arrival and couldn't have made a better impression. I had messaged the hotel after making the reservation with some questions and requests due to chemical sensitivities. My first concern was any fragrance machines in the lobby, common spaces or in air vents or sprays in the rooms. The layout of this hotel does not include a huge lobby which is great . Cabrillo restaurant is to the left upon entering and a small desk/check in area to the right. It was fantastic not to have to run through a strongly scent branded area or elevator. As promised, there were no fragrances or sprays in the room or on the bedding. There was a slightly musty smell to the room upon entering and the humid almost rain like weather outside I'm sure contributed to that. The building is not new though and the AC system struggled to cool the room with the curtains open. The system itself didn't blow cold air until I switched it from "Cool (on lowest setting)/Auto" to a setting designed to heat or cool with both heat and cool set to lowest setting. Quirky, but we figured it out. Overall, the design of the room was functional and aesthetically pleasing. After seeing reviews I expected it to be more cramped. It wasn't spacious, but definitely not uncomfortable for 2 of us. I was there for a volleyball tournament with my son and we are usually in a block of rooms at a hotel that lacks the charm and personality of the rooms here. It would be nice to have an ice maker somewhere in the hotel as the mini bar is well stocked, but you must call and have ice delivered, while it didn't take more than 15-20 min, it's still a bit inconvenient. There's no trash can in the room either, except a tiny one in the bathroom, so we had to leave empty bottles, cans, wrappers etc in a tidy pile on the table or floor. Understandable, these things aren't part of the design concept, but still necessary. The curtains had a pull rod that was ripped away/damaged from the main curtains so they were hard to open and close. The reason for my drop in stars is these few nit picky things and the price reflects a luxury hotel at $650/night. (During World Cup) The staff was absolutely perfect from Manny, the doorman who's name I sadly do not recall, housekeeping, and our server at Cabrillo which we were able to make breakfast between games one morning. They do not open until 7, nor does room service, so we weren't able to enjoy it as much as we'd like having to leave at 6:30 am each day. The fitness area is small, but never had more than one other guest in there with us, everything you needed was there and the Peleton bikes and higher end treadmills were great. We loved the boxed water! Very clean and housekeeping checked in both times we used it to ensure it was spotless. We did dine on top at Cara Cara too but left that for a different review. Some of the best food we've tried there, just a less than positive experience with a server leading us to likely not return there. Because the rooftop restaurant was one of our highlights and with that experience, not sure we would stay at Hotel Proper again only because the price point for the room is a bit high if you aren't going to also dine at the iconic restaurant. This is a perfect place to stay if you have chemical sensitivities. The Aesop products in the room may affect some as they are fragranced with essential oils and some signature synthetic fragrance. I did fine with them however, and pleasantly surprised. This hotel thrives on guest experience and I'm sure they would accommodate leaving them out of the room if you had those sensitivities. I did ask for a floor on an upper level but was on the second floor which was frustrating and the street noise kept me awake each night. We were already settled in and didn't want to move after the first night or I would have asked. After a search online, it seems only the lower floors have the double double rooms and likely wouldn't have mattered. They did bring some ear plugs for me on the 3rd day when I was desperately tired, but didn't help me much and I tried white noise but that didn't keep me asleep. The AC fan even on the highest setting did not blow very hard or make any noise so that wasn't an option. Just know there are trucks, sirens and muffler sounds all night long - can't do much about that in downtown LA. I very much appreciate Downtown LA Hotel Proper for making my room chemical free for me and enjoyed a hotel stay over another airbnb. The staff is truly amazing. read more

We had an incredible overnight stay here while attending two Dodgers games. The hotel's unique decor is beautiful with nature accents, 1920's art deco , and clean modern motifs. The art deco 1920s era structure reminds me of Gotham City style and LA City Hall. Our late Tuesday - afternoon check-in was prompt and efficient. The ladies behind the lobby were both friendly and courteous. We used their valet parking with equally courteous valets and doormen. Our 8th floor Premium King room was about 300 sq ft of comfort with soaring ceilings, large picture windows, spacious bathroom, very roomy shower (one of my favorite features), and ultra luxurious | comfortable bed and linens. The room is perfect for a short stay. In the early morning, we whisked down to the lobby. Anvar was at the front desk/lobby . He greeted us with a good morning and a warm smile. Anvar escorted us around the corner to the coffee bar. Kudos and a 'thank you' to Anvar for his awesome customer service and helpful attitude! Our rate included a late check out, which was also hassle-free and pleasant. The next time we are in LA for the Dodgers; our visit will include a night at the DTLA Proper. Stay here. Came here for a 1 night staycation. Valet is $60 a night. Upon arriving, there's only like 3 spots in the drop off section so it feels kind of hectic. But the staff is super helpful and fast. Checked in at the front desk with Manny. Arrived an hour early and was pleasantly surprised we were able to get our room early. Manny was very nice and informative, answering all of my questions without me having to ask. We stayed on the 14th floor, room with a view. I read the rooms were small, so I booked the slightly bigger one. Totally recommend. The room was comfy and very nice. View of the city was breathtaking. Huge plus that just right up the stairs from our floor is the penthouse floor with the restaurant + pool. The rooftop is incredible and we had a blast checking out the pool until sunset. The whole process through checking out was very fast and painless. 1st downside: lack of outlets in the room. Or they were very hidden. But not a big deal. 2nd downside: location wise, not super great for finding immediate close locations. Touristy spots like Grand Central is a 25 min walk. But otherwise, it's a great stay for DTLA and was super relaxing. read more

Fun staycation! Happy to see this hotel was on the American Express collection. We got a queen room with a city view. Upon arrival, we received a complimentary upgrade to a king size bed. The front desk was very kind and helpful. He explained to us the breakfast credit and food/drink credit given to us for booking with the platinum. The in room service for breakfast was tasty. It arrived to our room super quick. The rooftop restaurant Cara Cara was also a good experience. Rooms were clean and modern. We enjoyed our stay. Pro tip- park at Joe's parking next door. We had both dinner and breakfast here during our hotel stay, and neither meal disappointed! For dinner, we started with the Caesar salad. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, although the dressing was a bit too citrus-forward for my taste. The fish tacos were tasty, but our favorite was easily the burger. Breakfast was even better. Doorman was OK, one time they questioned my husband on what he was doing ...... um going to his room? It was very strange. Do they judge people and think they do or don't belong at the hotel? Who knows. We'll count it as a one-off. Room was very nice, bed was comfortable. AC worked good. Bathroom was nice, had hot water, good water pressure. Nice views from the room. I enjoyed the free coffee & tea service. Restaurants were great. I got a text saying we would have 30% off Waymo services for the first 3 rides, mind you, I've never used Waymo before. I tried to enter the promo code and it did not work - it said it had already been redeemed which is impossible. I enjoyed my stay at the downtown LA Proper. It's cute, when you walk into the hotel it's aesthetically pleasing. The staff are truly the most welcoming, friendly, and attentive. They really know hospitality. I had a queen suite, but had to switch rooms due to the noise from the rooftop bar. The staff were quick to get me into a different room that was truly so quiet and relaxing. I feel like often times when you're faced with a loud room, they shrug but not here. The rooms are all clean and have Aesops line so you'll be smelling fresh. Bed was comfortable! The restaurant downstairs was fantastic for breakfast. Extremely disappointed! LA proper has been on my saved list for a long time, I recently stayed one night on our way into the mountain system snowboard. The decor is beautiful, and the customer service was amazing! The entire staff was lovely. We have no complaints with service as everyone was very attentive. The room rooms are size of a shoebox, extremely uncomfortable and tight for two people. You a long, narrow hallway as soon as you enter your room, which is a bunch of wasted space because you can't place anything there without getting the way of the closet door or bathroom door. When you step into the actual living space you basically can turn in a circle and that's about it.... You're playing musical chairs with the other person in the entire time. Even though we stayed during winter California winters or nothing like anywhere else in the rest of the country- our AC unit didn't work. The room was extremely hot and the maintenance man didn't come until the morning. The hot water didn't work, you have to wait until odd hours of the morning or evening to get hot water when everyone else isn't using it Room service is extremely overpriced, like it is at most hotels, except they serve everything in plastic boxes, I would've at least thought with the ambience of the hotel we would've received real plates and silverware. I would have rather saved the $100 that I spent on the crappy breakfast for two and had Mc Donald's on the way out. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful 1 night staycation at the Downtown LA Proper to celebrate our anniversary. Amber and Cody at the front desk gave us such a warm welcome, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and special. Dinner on the roof and breakfast on the first floor were both delicious. It was so convenient to get great food and drinks without needing to leave the hotel. Every staff member we encountered between the hotel and the restaurants was very kind. Late checkout allowed us to enjoy some great pool time with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas available on a Monday. Between the note and little treats they left in our room, the quiet up on the 6th floor, and the seamless turndown service while we were out at dinner, all of the little details were on point. We had the exact relaxing stay we were hoping for and would definitely recommend the Proper for any special celebrations! read more

I returned to this hotel after 11 months. I have enjoyed many staycations here, especially in 2024, when the hotel's former ground floor restaurant, Caldo Verde, hosted Guest Chef/Cookbook dinner events almost monthly, when the hotel's food and beverage establishments were helmed by famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. Since my last visit, that culinary team has left, Caldo Verde stopped serving dinner completely, tried some live music events, and then was renamed Cabrillo, now serving breakfast only. Cara Cara, the rooftop restaurant, remains open. Dahlia, the bespoke cocktail and tea lounge, now just serves tea. The menus at all sites have vestiges of chef Suzanne's influence, but also additions that are more global that the former Portuguese-forward menus. Change is also evident at Proper's neighbour hotel The Hoxton; their rooftop Stephanie Izard-led Cabra restaurant is now the Izard-less small plates Inanna. Despite my fond remembrances of things past, the Proper remains a gorgeous property with a great staff. I saw a few familiar faces, and learned that others I remember were also still there. Once again, the hotel acknowledged my past history and granted me early check in and a room upgrade. The rooms are on the petite size, but oh-so-stylish (thanks to interior designer Kelly Wearstler) and pretty well-equipped. I've always loved the scent of the Aesop amenities. I once again had a room that ended in 02; the shower in these rooms do not have a curtain or glass partition, so I knew from past experience the floor gets quite wet. But the hotel had partially solved the issue by lowering the water pressure and redirecting the shower head. A curtain would be aesthetically unacceptable! The hotel has a decent sized fitness centre and a small rooftop pool. During this stay, I tried the tea experience at Dahlia for the first time, see separate review. I also had dinner at Cara Cara, which became dinner in the Cabrillo space with the Cara Cara menu because of the rainy weather. I had the Cobb Salad, which was on the old menu (and apparently always will be). It's unique because it has ingredients not often found in a Cobb like sweet potatoes, black beans and beets. I also had a carrot/muhammara/beet hummus/grilled flatbread dish that was very Suzanne-ish, but don't remember from the past. The herbed fries were excellent as always. I looked at the breakfast menu, and it too is more expansive and perhaps more approachable than in the past. All in all, the Proper remains an excellent, unchanged DTLA hotel choice, and there's really nothing lacking in the new F&B offerings. read more

We stayed one night for a locals getaway in mid-July 2025. We stayed here in June and knew we wanted to return to this gem. Boutique-y and casual elegance here. The attention to detail everywhere here is apparent from arrival until checkout. Hip, fun, cool. Plus incredibly comfortable beds! What sets the Proper apart from other top-tier hotels is the staff. Everyone from the doorman to the GM was genuine and warm. These are professionals. We met the GM Bruno who was genuinely curious about our needs. Sarah recognized us on this second visit and couldn't be any kinder. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. This property is another spot to check out. Compared to their sister location, this one is more secluded as it's in downtown LA. Still a chic property. Right when you walk in, you have the amazing mural, very Spanish style all over the ceiling and greeted with two beautiful potted cactus. Front desk to the right and the main restaurant with a nice bar to the left. As well as elevator right pass the lobby. They have another restaurant and bar on the rooftop with amazing views of the skyline of the city. Pool area is pretty small as it's more of a lounging pool. A couple of sunbeds along the pool as well as some right below to the side. Roof top restaurant is right across from it so just be aware that you could be laying out while people are having a meal feet's away. Beautiful property but outside can be a little shady as it's in downtown. read more

The Proper Hotel falls under the Marriott and I was able to utilize a points stay to help offset the cost of staying here. After seeing so many photos of the Proper Hotels, I was so excited for a gorgeous stay. Overall- while the hotel is beautiful, the stay itself was just alright and I'd say it was definitely a solid 4 stars. Ambience and decor: Incredible. Kelly Wearstler is like no other. Every single detail in this hotel is well thought out and beautiful. The walls are stunning and the furniture and color combinations are just such a dream. The lobby is tiny, but it's full of so much character! Views: The views of DTLA from the rooftop are absolutely unbeatable. The hotel has a restaurant on the roof (Cara Cara). The pool is also located on the roof and the views are absolutely insane. The Room: There's gotta be a trade-off right. The rooms here are itty bitty. Cute, but definitely a tight squeeze and because you're downtown, they are loud. A lot of noise comes through the windows especially if you're in a lower level room. The room itself was not very comfortable. Although aesthetically pleasing, the tiny bed wasn't comfortable. Cost: Keep in mind that in addition to the cost of the room, you will be paying a steep parking fee. There are a number of nearby lots that charge slightly less than the hotel valet does. read more

The Downtown LA Proper Hotel is an outstanding hotel with great service and nice amenities. Check in was quick and efficient. I was able to get an upgrade on my room to the Premier King. The room was very spacious and it was probably the cleanest room I've stayed in (while being half the price of some). The minibar had a very good selection of drinks and they have two complimentary glass bottles of water that the housekeeping staff replenished daily. They did an outstanding job cleaning the room each night and they must have sprayed some air freshener as well because it smelled clean. The bed was very comfortable! They also have Apple TV built in the television, so you're able to watch Netflix and other streaming apps without another device (as long as you have a subscription). The bathroom was roomy and the shower was as well. Very good hand soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. They were all essential oil based, so they had some good smells like eucalyptus and citrus. They have two restaurants... the Cara Cara, which is on the rooftop and has a bar, and the Cardo Verde on the main floor. Both had great food. The Cara Cara also offered a few good mocktails. I loved everything about this hotel. The only (minor) complaint is the area. Not much to do in Downtown LA and the area is pretty sketchy at night. That being said, it is very beautiful. I walked several miles at night to see all the old buildings. I was going to a show a couple blocks away at the Orpheum, which is why I elected to stay here. It was a great choice! read more

Came to LA Proper for a friends birthday dinner on the roof top at CARA CARA (separate review) but sat downstairs at the bar first for a drink while we waited for our entire party to arrive. The hotel is beautifully done. I was loving the entire aesthetic of Caldo Verde which is the restaurant bar we sat at. Service was friendly but drinks are high. Only other thing I would note is that the bathrooms are located on the second floor and not easy to find. They are located amongst the guest room which I found odd and which kind of justifies Hotel Indigo's policy where you can only work the elevator with a guest room key and you can only get off on communal floors or your own floor. To have guest that are just there for the restaurant wandering on all the other floors in DTLA......hmmmm I don't know about that. But both restaurants on the bottom floor and lobby are beautiful. read more

My heart melted into a warm puddle of gratitude because I was asking to check in at 11am, a full 4 hours before official check in; they didn't know I had to take care of another patient in just a few hours, and these few interim hours of rest meant the world to me. They just were so kind, just because! I could have just hugged them! To find a little piece of heaven on earth, mosey on over to the DTLA Proper Hotel, where two gentle earth angels named Vanessa and Amber work at the front desk. These two kind and lovely ladies could make a cold hospital room feel warm and welcoming, much less this beautifully curated boutique hotel with award winning restaurants that is a delight for all the senses! There is something special and irreplaceable about the human heart and sincere kindness, and each person on staff here understands the art and value of sincere hospitality! Book here and do your heart and soul a world of good! This cozy hotel is one of the best kept secrets in LA, it's a beautifully run concept hotel who truly care that you have a wonderful experience! I waited till I had completed my stay to write this fond memory of the warm welcome I received. The most wonderful part was, while Vanessa and Amber made my day, the other staff throughout the hotel were also exceptionally kind and friendly - from Ben the valet, who explained to me the valet parking vs the local lot (valet has unlimited in and out privileges $65/day; the next door lot charges $10/12 hours, and some undisclosed sum per in and out), to the ever polite and chivalrous doorman Mo, to the hotel staff on every floor (Charlie on my floor was so welcoming), Queenie the knowledgeable and kind waitress who worked in Cara Cara taking care of me during my meals, and a few others who helped guide me to the correct parts of the building when I got a bit lost are just a few examples. The room itself was so cute - if possible upgrade to a premium king room as it is well worth it - I loved room 1404 as you get a panorama view of the city because it is a corner room at the highest level and allows beautiful views from 3 windows. I didn't experience any noise whatsoever, as a light sleeper I am so grateful for the peace and quiet of this penthouse experience. There is so much to enjoy here, from the gorgeous and eclectic interior design by the renowned Kelly Wearstler, the beautiful views, a rooftop pool, the gorgeous atmosphere of rooftop dining (special nights with live music or DJ) in a trio of restaurants helmed by award-winning chefs Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne; to afternoon tea at Dahlia, to the beautiful gym, Aesop toiletries, soft cotton robes with pockets, the list goes on and on. This little boutique hotel packs in so many goodies large and small, so much value! Not to mention it is three blocks from Pine and Crane, which serves authentic Taiwanese street foods and breakfast in case you want to enjoy a different type of cuisine and a bustling night scene (be prepared for lines out the door for both breakfast, lunch, dinner, and for casual late night snacks or drinks till 10pm). Everyone else was circling around for street parking but you can avoid this hassle by staying at The DTLA Proper. I truly loved every minute of my stay! This charming boutique hotel deserves all the great reviews, in my opinion it punches way above its weight class - you get more here than what some of the big name hotel chains offer at double the cost! The design was great with a beautiful restaurant in the lobby. Also a small pool and restaurant on the roof with great views. We stayed one night at this hotel with AmEx's special deal. Got $100 dining credit and $60 breakfast credit ($30/person) to use during our stay. Parking - overnight valet was $55. And the valet stand is by the streets, so if during rush hour, it might be difficult to park for valet. The room - it's very small but the cost also wasn't too expensive for the stay, so I guess you get what you pay for. You can tell this hotel is an old building refurbished to look new and hip, but it didn't completely scrub off the "old" feeling. However, the bed is comfy and they use Aesop products. Dining - to be quite honest, if we didn't have the credit, I 100% would not have eaten here. I ordered room service of Steak Frites and Ceviche, and it came out to be $86 for one person. Food was good but it wasn't THAT good to justify the price. There are plenty of better dining experience in LA at this price point. Same with breakfast, overly expensive. For both time of dining, I waited between 30-60 minutes for the food. Overall it gave me the impression that the management is still figuring things out. Service - 5/5. Staffs overall are professional and nice. Overall, this is a budget friendly option if you're in town for one night and don't want to spend too much. The gym has a few treadmills, Pelotons, a rowing machine and some weight equipment. I randomly asked their staff for something as I was doing work at the pool. Kendy, who takes care of the Cara Cara restaurant + PH pool area, checked around then she and the manager made it happen. I even said, it's okay if the property doesn't have it. She simply said, if we have it, we will make it happen. Sara, the general manager, who came to drop off the requested item, was also very kind and generous. I apologized for any inconvenience and she simply said, that's why we are here. Manny, who was the reception desk, made sure that I was taken care of when there were some hiccups on the first night of my stay. As a solo woman traveler who experiences a lot on my work travels, this care has meant a lot. I genuinely want to thank their team. The views at this hotel are amazing. Decided to start the New Year off right at the DTLA Proper Hotel. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and was pleasantly surprised that this hotel is part of their collection. We used the valet service right in front of the hotel, although I believe there is parking close by on the street. The valet was very friendly and brought our luggage up to the room. Check-in was a breeze! Everyone at this location was very friendly and professional. I even received a free upgrade through Marriott! I either booked a Queen or King View room and got upgraded to their Premier King View room and it was stunning! Absolutely loved the decor of the room and all of the amenities at this hotel. Another added bonus is Cara Cara, the rooftop bar! I had the best Carajillo I've ever had in my life! In the morning, I went downstairs for complimentary coffee and tea! The room was small but clean (great shower). The model of this hotel is low service and technology based, which didnt really work for me a s business traveler. The roof deck restaraunt was open daily from 12n but not a great place for meetings (touristy and younger crown). I will not stay at this notel in future, even for leisure travel. We were here for an event/dinner at their banquet hall, and the staff were so incredibly accommodating. I came with our young baby and needed a place to feed and change him. The bathroom by the banquet hall did not have a changing table, and the staff were so so kind in giving us a private hotel guest room to accommodate our needs. They really went above & beyond and it was the kindest thing. Aside from that, the staff during our event/dinner were also great, they offered a high chair as soon as we arrived and they saw we have a little one. Food was great especially the salads and dessert. Btw the room was very cute and the bathroom was beautiful. Very modern chic. We had a great time thank you! read more

Not my best photos however this stay was unmatched. We will always be guests at this hotel. From the level of detail in the decor, paint, lighting to the premium bath products from Aesop the stay was nothing short of luxurious! The staff was super attentive and made me and my hubby feel like celebrities. We were comped a few drinks and even our lattes for no reason! The rooftop is absolutely stunning. The location is super close to crypto arena and not a far drive to dodgers stadium. We will be back! read more

This is an outstanding hotel and great value - Probably the best Proper Hotel I have stayed at. The rooftop restaurant and bar are great - the food and drinks are exceptional, but it's the ambiance and quality of the staff that set this hotel apart. I was looking for somewhere to stay in LA for my partners birthday to make it special that had a good restaurant inside of it, beautiful views and had a nice interior. This place hit all the marks! We came early in case they'd let us check in a bit before our time and they did let us check in along with having great service! It's a smaller hotel with a beautiful decorated interior and friendly workers. We checked in and the room was spacious - also it had Apple TV and an amazing speaker you could connect to. I had put in the notes when I was booking that it was a special occasion and wow did they impress! They gave us a whole bottle of wine and a beautiful dessert. After we checked in, we went up to the rooftop bar and it had such a beautiful view of the city! The food was really great and I loved our drinks. The restaurant up top is called Cara Cara and we got a few appetizers like the ceviche and the chicken we also got the s'mores dessert! Definitelyyyy get that dessert and ask for extra coffee praline sauce. The ceviche was really refreshing and I loved the corn tostada with it - it paired really well. I loved the fried chicken as well with the sauce it came with! We also came at night after a dinner and it was busy but not overlyyyy busy. We just got a drink at the bar and then walked down to the below level to see if there was open seating and there was! Overall, a really great experience from our room to the food to the views and the service! read more

Booked this place with Chase Hotels and it was such a lovely stay! Stayed 1 night for a concert and we enjoyed it so much. The design of the room was unique and beautifully decorated. We loved the wooden floors and the overall aesthetic. Staff was very friendly! The valet was very helpful, and I would recommend using them instead of worrying about self-parking. Wish we had the chance to try out the restaurants because they looked very aesthetic! A few downsides were that the speaker in the room didn't work and that the area around the hotel was a bit loud at night and felt unsafe. Overall, the hotel itself was a very cool, trendy place to stay at and the service was very good. If I had the opportunity to stay here again, I would! read more

What an amazing stay while attending one of my friend's weddings. Top-tier service from our first interaction with the valet staff to the check-in process at the front desk. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. It made the stress from the traffic and noise in DTLA vanish as soon as we arrived. The restaurant inside the hotel is also really good. Good breakfast options, with a scenic view of the city. I would recommend the Proper Hotel to anyone visiting LA who wants a more mellow and enjoyable experience. Also, avoid the hassle of looking for parking and valet your car. read more

I've alway known I wanted to stay at Kelly Wearstlers new downtown LA proper hotel but I didn't expect for it to be so soon. I was greeted by Amber at the front desk, immediately feeling welcome and relaxed. The place had a personable, boutique hotel feel. Friendly staff thoughout my stay and quickly made requests through their texting system. I stayed in the Premier King City View room and it was a wonderful room. The aesthetics were natural, organic with pops of color. And of course the view of downtown LA was great. I can't recommend this place enough. From the Frette bedding, parachute robes and the textured faucet handles, everything felt really thought out as expected. Even the mini bar was well curated and varietal. Can't wait to come back one day or check out another Proper hotel. read more

We needed to stay a night in LA and came across Proper Hotel as part of the American Express collection. We were immediately intrigued by the unique design of the hotel, as well as the amenities included like the rooftop bar and scenic views. - PARKING - Valet parking is available, although overnight charges you $55 I believe. Since we were only staying one night, the public parking lot closeby was more doable for us at a lower cost. - SERVICE - Staff was extremely accomodating and so polite! Whenever we left they would hurry to open the doors for us and wish us a good day, and coming back they would welcome us warmly with the same poise. Staff in the elevators made small talk, checking in to see if our stay was up to standards. Those that worked at the restaurants were also very friendly. There was a hiccup at Caldo Verde, which I will have a separate review for. Otherwise, every staff member was welcoming the entire time we stayed. - EXPERIENCE - We were able to upgrade our room one level higher which was nice! The room was perfect for the two of us, just cozy enough but not cramped. The bathroom was absolutely gorgeous, it might've been my favorite part of the room! Open shower format, with luxurious Aesop toilietries. The stonework was so pretty! The rooftop pool is a bit odd to get to, as it's right next to the rooftop bar. People were eating and they were right next to guest that were wading in the pool. The pool itself isn't very big either. The views are very nice on the rooftop though, from either side. The only thing that came up was that we had late check out, but our cards were locked so after eating breakfast, we couldn't get back in. We had to go back to the front desk to get ourselves into our room. - OVERALL - Beautiful place to stay, great service from start to finish. Gorgeous city views! read more
