The location in downtown is convenient, but you do hear sirens every now and then. Valet parking is at $69 a night- high but expected. There is a rooftop pool, but it's not the right season for it. We used our breakfast credit in the mornings at Ristorante Per L'Ora and Cafe Ora. The food at the restaurant was yummy and filling. I enjoyed the unique decor of the hotel. We were upgraded to the Olive Suite, which has a separate living room- sweet. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The mini fridge came in handy. Stayed at Hotel Per La for New Year's Eve and had an incredible time. The bed was insanely comfortable with the softest, most heavenly pillows, and the customer service was flawless from start to finish. The lobby bar is hands down one of the BEST hotel bars (it used to be the old Nomad Bar) I've ever been to, serving one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had. Extra kudo points for also having a pretty impressive whiskey menu as well. Amazing vibes, great drinks, and a perfect way to ring in the New Year. Would absolutely stay here again! I stayed at Hotel Per La for my birthday and overall had a good experience, though a few hiccups kept it from being perfect. The boutique design is beautiful--elegant and thoughtfully styled--and the location is great, with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. I also loved the standing tub in our room and the city views from the windows. The rooftop pool area was a highlight too, especially during happy hour. The frozen wine slushie was my favorite! Service was responsive--extra towels arrived within 15 minutes, which I appreciated. With the resort fee, you also get some nice perks, like an $18 daily food and beverage credit. That said, there were a few issues. On our first night, the closet light kept turning on while we were asleep, waking us up three times. Around 2 AM, we called the front desk and they offered us a room change, which was kind, but we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. We eventually figured out the light was motion-sensor activated and covered the sensor to stop it. Still, it was odd since we weren't even moving. Noise was another downside. Even on the 11th floor, street sounds were loud, and we could clearly hear conversations in the hallway. On our last night, we tried to get a snack around 9:30 PM, but there had just been an event and people were taking photos near the restaurant area. Staff seemed tied up, and after waiting about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, we gave up and ordered Uber Eats instead. It was frustrating and not worth paying more after that experience. The rooftop bar also closed early--about 30 minutes before posted hours--even on a Friday night. The bartender's choice for happy hour was an espresso martini, which isn't really my thing (I forgot caffeine with alcohol was a thing). We only ordered one, but were served two--didn't want to make a fuss, so we drank them anyway. One last note: the mini fridge is mostly stocked with overpriced items, so there's little room for your own snacks or drinks. Parking is $60/day, so I had someone drop me off to save money. Took the train in and then subway to the 7th street station, then an easy walk to the hotel. Easy check in with a great lobby dining area. We stayed in room 1102, fun room, big bathroom, faced LA Athletic club, not really a great view room. Awesome rooftop pool and bar, solid cocktails! I would stay here and then explore the Biltmore... Stayed at the Biltmore a couple times, but this place is better. Grabbed some breakfast the next morning which was delicious! Very accommodating staff in the restaurant, friendly service. read more

The front desk is extremely kind, the building is unique (an old bank based on the giant vault in the basement), the rooms are clean and spacious, and the bed is comfortable. If you have Marriott status, you'll also get complimentary pastries and drip coffee in the morning - which is great since there's no in room coffee machine. The other big plus is certainly the rooftop, which I enjoyed working from on the weekdays. There is no true desk, so you have to make do with the small sofa and table. And if you're in the center of the building your room looks directly into those across from you; however, I'm used to living in cities so that didn't phase me much. read more

This hotel reminds me of hotels in Europe. It is quaint and while it's not modern necessarily, it has a flair that is unique and charming. The sink was a bit weird and I couldn't turn on both hot and cold water to make warm water, which was weird. The shower pressure and water temperature was fine though. If I didn't have the following experience outlined in the email I sent to the manager below (still waiting on a response), I would rate it higher: Hi Yuri, I am a guest at Hotel Perla for the night of 4/11 and would like to share an experience I had this evening (now early morning). I came from LAX and parked in the valet section. Melanie checked me in around midnight. The reservation is under my husband's name, William Fasoli (cc'ed). She asked for my driver's license, and then asked some security questions that involved the Marriott credit card number as well as the Marriott Bonvoy member number. I completely understand why she would ask those questions, since she wanted to ensure security and safety for the hotel and its guests. She proceeded to mention that she would not be able to check me in until she spoke to my husband to confirm my identity and that he gave permission for me to stay under his name. While I understand the security measure of the credit card questions and the intention behind it, the need to call my husband to confirm my identity at midnight, which woke him and our kids (2 and 5 years old) created a very uncomfortable and off putting experience. To add to this, my husband is under the weather and needed all the sleep he could get. Melanie then said that I had to come back down to return my keys to the valet, since the valet was not available. I was exhausted, and the thought of returning back to the lobby to return my keys, seemed a bit unreasonable. I was the one who had to propose that I would leave the keys with her rather than coming back down. While Melanie's tone was polite and professional throughout, the requests made and the rigidity around both of them made for a very unpleasant experience. I would like to request that the valet this evening is comped due to this unfortunate customer service experience. I'd be happy to discuss further at your convenience. Thank you. --- To add to it, when I was at valet the next morning, it took 35 minutes to get my car, which made me almost late to interview. When I expressed my concern, the response I got was "you should have called 15 minutes before." Well, no one told me since no one was at the valet lathe night before. My bf and I stayed here for two nights two weeks ago and we loved it! I like to check out local boutique hotels from Marriott Bonvoy when possible and I was so happy with my decision! The location of Per La is awesome!! Especially for me because it's around the corner from Bottega Louie and St. Vincent Square (where you can get the best Mediterranean food at Mima's, or pastries at Pichoun, or wander around the whole downtown! I love the location! The hotel - I also love it! I love whoever their interior design was. Room was very stylish and the whole hotel was gorgeous! The hotel is pretty old and you can definitely see the wear and tear in the beautiful room though. One of my favorite about the room? Well, two, is the bed/mattress and the rain shower head, and super strong water pressure on the handheld shower head one. Omg, I think you can really hose down something and hurt it in the process with their water pressure, but I'm not complaining.. because, the sink drain is moody, needs a nudge from time to time. The hotel itself, like everyone mentioned, is so gorgeous. I love historical LA and gorgeous architecture like this one, which was an old Italian bank. The vault room turned into restroom was one of the main attraction! Food here was also good. Their avocado toast with all the bells and whistles really worth the price. The destination fees go toward dining there so don't forget to use it. Convenient coffee store downstairs too although they close quite early. Their "continental breakfast" here is a pastry and a coffee or tea. But, it's still better than nothing! We didn't mind because we usually don't eat breakfast or there are way too many places to eat in the area to try anyway. Staff was nice and attentive! Gym was nice, a bit claustrophobic since it is in the basement.. kinda, and there was water leaking or stain everywhere... Overall, I really appreciate what the hotel has to offer and I love how quaint it is, definitely has a mix of modern and antique and it works so well. Parking - if you don't want to do valet, you can park across, offsite, not managed by Per La but by LAAC (Los Angeles Athletic club). We parked here for our 2 nights 3 days stay, but no in/out privileges. If you want in/out there are couple offsite parking lot nearby, maybe 15 min walk. But, we didn't really need a car if you stay in DTLA anyway. Overall, love it and highly recommend it! read more

Is this place pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes! Hands down, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in - the down/feather duvet was divine and cozy. The shower was the BEST! Full pressure water, and it felt like a spa. The suite I stayed in was absolutely lovely with lots of unique charm. Everyone I encountered working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel, wonderful customer service, and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The only thing to make note of is the mandatory destination fee. Located in DTLA, I stayed here for a work event. I chose this hotel due to its location and Marriott affiliation. It's a boutique hotel that recently transformed into its current iteration. Valet parking out front, not cheap but standard LA pricing. Lots of metered parking around or cheaper lots of it's about price for you. The interior is newish but rather odd. Garish colors and odd arrangement. You walk in through this sort of garden tunnel...not appealing at all. Check in is intimate and designed to make you feel special. Elevators are nearby and they give you a small bottle of champagne to celebrate your arrival. Rooms were small but ok. It's like New York in that sense. Small and compact and likely this was an office building before it was a hotel. Room service is outrageously expensive and the food was cold upon arrival. $45 for a burger and cold fries. Imagine my excitement... The best part of this hotel Is the rooftop bar and pool. It's open to the public and definitely popular in the summer and weekends. Very loud and crowded. I suspect there is big money for the property happening there. They had a DJ playing when I was up top relaxing. I'd say this is a 3/5 and for the price not a repeat. I prefer the Hilton Checkers or the Millennium is near by as well as a host of other downtown options. The pictures online lead you to believe this is larger and more expansive than it is as well as more polished. It's just not quite what you expect from the photos. read more

A surprisingly quiet room. I couldn't hear the outside DTLA noise nor traffic even on a Saturday night. Overall, the room was very cozy and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. A coffee machine in the room would've been nice and more counter space in the bathroom (no bathtub). This is a one or two day hotel stay at most. And there's not much closet space nor drawers. I was annoyed that I didn't have a functioning hotel phone in the room to call for room service or other hotel requests. Upon check-in, the front desk provides two $35 coupons to use at the restaurant for food or drinks, which was really nice. We only spent one night here and they gave us an "upgraded" room. I will say that it was very retro chic. The rooftop pool is pretty small but nice with a bar and plenty of seating and cabanas. The style and decor was cute. The building used to be a bank so they still have the vault and the hotel has much character, only they really need to upgrade the rooms. The furniture looks like it has never been replaced. The headboard was awful and the rug was in pretty bad shap. Not to mention the seating in the lobby was dirty. There is no parking but they do offer $60 valet services. That being said, the staff was nice. I don't think I would have wanted to stay more than 1 night, nor will I return. read more

I had a great experience at this hotel in DTLA. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to attend a Spotify event at the hotels rooftop pool. Prior to the event the rooftop pool was calm, clean, quiet and relaxing. There were people there working from their devices as well as people sunbathing. The drinks were so great! Service was fast and all of the waiters and bartenders were attentative to anyone who walked in. There are nice plants and a garden like unique feel toe the roof. The view is beautiful as most views are in LA. The décor inside the hotel was super trendy and such a great vibe. The rooms are so nice and the bed is comfortable. Hotel PER LA Italian for "For Los Angeles" is housed in the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy, Giannini Building, of 1922. Lots and lots of history. The owners have kept the integrity of building's historic architecture throughout. The interior designer has done an exquisite job with design, furnishings, textures, colors ... throughout. The hotel is a beautiful beautiful gem in DTLA. The rooftop bar CLARA is the entrance to a magical rooftop pool, where you have a 360 degree view of the fantastic LA skyline. On our next visit we shall dine at Ristorante Per L'Ora. Restaurant inside hotel. We are told we must have the Lobster and Pork-belly. Sounds like a very delicious version to a surf and turf. I booked through my word app, Navan, so I think I'm paying less than the typical travel, especially since i received a complementary upgrade to this amazing suite! The suite is larger than my last several apartments, and so gorgeous and posh! There is a tub in the bedroom! I've completely enjoyed my 3-night stay. The staffers are all so nice and helpful! Dante at check-in provided so much great information and explained how things like the $35 restaurants credit works. He even knew the temperature of the outdoor pool! I frequented Bottega Louie during a past visit to LA and couldn't help but notice Hotel Per La in the short distance. So I decided to book it for this trip. Although booking dot com had a cheaper rate, I booked my stay via hotel website to avoid any trouble -- or so I thought. About 3 days before check-in my reservation was canceled without warning or notice. I just happened to find out because I called a day in advance to confirm things. It took an hour to sort out over the phone but they did reinstate my resy. Nonetheless I was fuming and took off a star for the inconvenience. 24 hours later, my check-in with Jasmine was smooth as silk and I was given a very quiet room, as requested and she presented unique offerings/deals as part of the resort rate. Since it was a pleasant surprise for me i won't ruin it by spilling the details. The room was small but adequate. My biggest gripe was the limited shelving in the bathroom. I had to place things on the floor from time to time. And the built-in USB's did not function. But I never had to wait for an elevator, didn't hear loud noise, never saw a kid and the pool service was fantastic. And ofc the decor everywhere is Instagram worthy! Extra points for the doorman being outside at all times. I looked over at TAC and didn't see any personnel out front. Aside from the initial guffaw with the reservation I loved the experience and would return. Customer service throughout the building (pool, restaurant, doorman) was top notch throughout my stay. I had a great stay at Hotel Per La this past month. My cousins and I had a little staycation in the heart of DTLA which was unforgettable. We watched movies and drank some good wine in the comfort of our nice hotel room. The room itself was very clean and very spacious. I wish I would've checked out the pool and Bar Clara but we did not have time to. The hotel is very chic and beautiful, and decor and the ambiance is truly magical. I really enjoyed the elegant look of the lobby upon checking in. There is a restaurant on the first floor, but we didn't get a chance to try it. The front desk staff was very kind and made our stay great. We had some issues with the television in our room and they helped us find a solution, saving our movie night. Definitely think Perl La is a great option if you're visiting LA for a couple of days or if you simply want a staycation in the heart of the city. I would recommend checking in early so you can check out all of the amenities. The location is perfect as there are many restaurants around the area and it is near the many fun things to do in DTLA. Review is re hotel block. Booking a hotel block here for my wedding was the biggest mistake I made. It was truly a terrible experience. Here are just some of the many things that went wrong: (1) Room block pricing: The price for the block was way more expensive than booking directly (see attached photo). (2) Check-in issues: I paid for some family members who are financially struggling and asked the hotel to ensure a smooth check-in process. Instead, the hotel made them call me to confirm they could check in (see attached). (3) Incorrect pricing on wedding website: The hotel couldn't get the website to show the right price. They told me to inform my guests of the actual price instead -- $35 less than what was showing. They admitted this wasn't the first time a bride was upset about it. (4) Wedding welcome bags mishandled: Despite multiple reminders, they didn't hand out our handmade wedding welcome bags. These bags included the wedding schedule, so I had to text everyone the details instead. (5) Added a cutoff date: My contract didn't include a cutoff date for the hotel block, but they added one without warning closer to the wedding. (6) Shuttle issues: I provided them with the shuttle info, but they didn't let the shuttle park to pick up guests. (7) Presidential suite problems: I paid over $2.5K for the presidential suite and answered their questions (like providing photos of the bride and groom). Despite this, they didn't greet us or do anything special. It was a complete waste of time. I also didn't receive my Marriott points. Avoid this place at all costs. I spent so much time on the phone with them, but they just gave me false assurances and kept dropping the ball. RUN FAR AWAY. read more

A lot of attention was paid to detail to make this place look like an updated 1920s era space. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The pool, however, was great. It's on the roof so you have fabulous views of the skyline. There is also a poolside bar and waiter service at the loungers. The only downside is that it closes at 10. Hotel Perla is a one of a kind space in DTLA that we are lucky to have. We chose it as a staycation for my husband and I and a milage run for our Bonvoy nights and were quite surprised. The Low Key check in experience was incredibly calming after entering from the busy streets and nice to see desk staff actually seated. Our room had the best decor - and was reminiscent of New Orleans meets mid Art Deco era. The rooftop is incredible and other than the plastic glassware, the pool experience was wonderful and sports the best fireplace - the mouth of a beast full of a blaze. Stay here if you want a quiet retreat within the city of angels because you'll definitely be treated like one by them. read more

I would never ever expected this from a Marriott property. I was there for two nights. Prior to my arrival I asked the reservation agent to break down the cost which she did not do but instead she blamed the computer..."We do not have access to that part of information" but she was in reservations. Shortly after I asked who has and she put me on hold for 30 second or so before the dial tone arrived. Called back and spoke with 5 people over an hour and none could give me what I was asking for. None of them were consistant on their incompetence. Parking fees never disclosed, use of the pool was extra on top of the resort fees that were build in the total price including the local taxes. At check out I was told that the printer does not work so they will email me the final bill. I insisted on the seeing the charges on her screen that she told me she is not allowed to show me. When I got the email 3 hours later I was charged $100 per day for use of the pool that I only saw from the restaurant part, $60.00 a day for parking plus taxes that got the charges close to 65% of the entire hotel room stay. Marriott this will not stop here. Next stop is the corporate office and if that will not solve the problem will be on to the local media. Ball is in your court. What you choose to do with it is entirely up to you. read more

First, I thought this is a pretty new hotel, but many things in my room are broken or are about to... The TV worked only for the first night, the water pressure is all over the place (when I turned the cold water on, super hot water comes out), water release of the tub is not working properly... Secondly, although the valet staffs and front gate staffs were nice, the rest of the staffs I encountered were just unprofessional... During my check in, the receptionist got into a verbal argument with her manager right in front of me...when I returned to my room after a day out I found out I was not given any water( included in the $40 daily resort fee)... The faucets are "old school", so beware when adjusting water temperature. This is a very long review, but it's definitely worth the read. It explains how absolutely fantastic the staff is and why you should stay here. From the moment we showed up at the hotel, I knew I chose the right place. As we walked up to the hotel the doorman opened the door and greeted us. My jaw dropped as we walked into the lobby, and looked around at the sitting area and the restaurant/bar. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! All of the architecture is gorgeous and the attention to detail, and the interior design/decor is top notch. I love old buildings and would love to know the history of this building. I believe the gentleman's name that checked us in was Theo. He was so personable, kind, and welcoming. He gave us all the information we needed about the hotel and the area. He also gave me a little gift for it being my birthday celebration. So thoughtful! My friend and I were supposed to stay at the hotel for the weekend. While we walking to dinner that night, my friend stepped into a open sewer hole on the sidewalk next to the DTLA library. We ended up taking an Uber back to the hotel because she couldn't walk and put any pressure on the foot. When we got back to the hotel, the doorman was SO kind. I think his name was Joe. He helped me bring my friend into the lobby and he went and grabbed us a wheelchair while I ran to the bar to get a bucket of ice for her ankle/foot. He helped us up to the room and said we could keep the wheelchair for the night in case she needed to get around. We were hoping that in the morning she would be feeling better and be able to walk on it. The next morning she tried to walk and she couldn't even put pressure on it. We made the decision to check out early and go to urgent care. While we were checking out that morning I explained the situation to the young woman at the desk and asked her if there was any way I could get the points back that I used, or an overnight night stay credit at the hotel since we we're supposed to stay another night. She told me she would tell her manager about the situation and see if something could be done since this was a completely unforeseen circumstance/emergency, and she also gave me the email to the hotel and told me to write them about the situation and that it would be sent to the appropriate person. I am really sad that we had to cut our trip short. We chose here to have a fun staycation for my birthday where we could stay at a beautiful hotel, walk everywhere, check out DTLA, go out to eat at some great restaurants, and hang out at the pool, but apparently the universe had different plans for us. I'm hoping I can get a credit to come back and make up for the time we missed. I really loved it here. It is an absolutely gorgeous hotel and ALL of the staff were so lovely and amazing! Thank you to all the front desk people for making us feel welcome. Thanks to Joe for getting us a wheelchair and helping us out so much. Thank you to the bellman that helped us with our bags and out to the Uber when we had to check out the next morning. Thank you to the bartenders that refilled the ice bucket for me multiple times. I didn't actually have a reservation or any reason to stay at the hotel. I actually stayed at another hotel with my friend and her family members. We woke up early to find a place with coffee. Every place was closed or had weird options and we actually walked from our hotel to this place that had a cafe. When we went tot the cafe and ordered, I easily noticed the rest of the place. I fell so madly in love with this place on so many levels. It's hard to be depressed or sad in a place this artistically crafted. It is so beautiful here... it provides a feel of what heaven looks like in my own head. I love the colors, textures, shapes, and different sizes of everything as soon as you walk into the place. It's like a jungle, but a lounge where you can study and eat while you sip on something incredible. I had permission and a lot of encouragement from hotel staff to explore. It made me feel so welcome, oh and my friend too. She is shy and she thought we would get kicked out, but when we were instructed on all the places we could go visit at this place... omg it is just so special that people are nice to you especially first thing in the morning when you don't expect it. Every step we took was refreshing because we experienced something new. My friend and I are from San Diego, but she has lived in LA a long time with her husband. We both have never seen a place like this before in California. Not only is this place epic- it is truly a hidden gem. I hope people treat your business with the same appreciation and love that my friend and I had!! I would love to come back and actually stay, but I don't have any plans for LA just yet. I literally just want to eat my food. Apparently the hotel has no microwaves (for guests) and staff refuses to accommodate in any way. When I asked how the staff heats their food I was told "we just can't heat your food". I was forced to go to the restaurant next door and plead my case. Thankfully the guy there was more than helpful. I travel frequently and I have never ever had a microwave issue. This was written out of pure hangriness yesterday so I'll improve the review for that reason alone. But in all seriousness... just get a microwave people! It's really not that hard. read more

I recently stayed here after finding this hotel through Tik tok , the room was beautiful and it's perfect for couples . During check In I was notified that my room wasn't ready but they had a different accommodation available, I paid for a deluxe king room with a city view and I was not happy with the view that I had . I was literally staring at the building across the way , given the fact that I was paying $1000 for a 4 night stay at this hotel I was not pleased with the view. I called the front desk to remedy my situation, I was told that because many of the buildings were high rise that was still considered the city view . I went and had lunch to relax myself. As I returned I mentioned my disappointment with the room again to another front desk employee and she was more than happy to give me a better room with a better view, I regret not catching her name I know her hair was dyed a orange/red color , I appreciated her for not giving me a excuse and actually attempted to find a solution. I was notified about the $35 food credit, but everything associated with the hotel opened late and closed early due to it being thanksgiving, so I never got to use the credit. I also ended up with a bunch of key cards because my keys would just stop working despite me having a four night stay . The temperature in the room remained oddly cool , I usually prefer cooler temps ,and I attempted to warm the room up multiple times to avail. So that was kind of annoying. The water in the beautiful bath tub was luke warm, and left me freezing after 15 mins, so that was definitely a bummer , because who can relax in a cold room and a cold bath. The mini bar was fully stocked , but be prepared to pay for whatever you eat or drink . I received two glass bottles of Evian water (yuck) plus a large size bottle since I don't consume alcohol. Also if you order through a food delivery service , you will have to go down and get your food yourself. They also will bring a bucket of ice up to your room if needed. Overall, despite the small minor imperfections, and annoying moments , I enjoyed my stay at this hotel , I will definitely return if I ever want to take a mini get away again . read more

We stayed here for a wedding. We were able to check in and go up to our room early which was great since we had flown in from the Midwest. There was a rooftop pool and bar which ended up being our hang out spot since none of us were too familiar with LA and none of us had cars. The room was nice and so was the gym. We didn't eat here, but the main level bar and restaurant seemed busy and there was a cool vault bathroom in the basement. Definitely a vibey atmosphere and gorgeous interiors. I left my Apple watch and called a couple days later after unpacking and realizing via find my phone/watch that it was still in LA. They were very helpful and responsive and had a service for me to use to get it back. If you are going to LA and plan to send time near the downtown area this would be a great spot especially if you don't have a car since it has everything you need right there. read more

I stayed here over the New Year's, and I cannot believe what horrible Customer Service people at this hotel delivered. There was The night manager greeted us in such a rude fashion. The place was extremely creepy and the rooms hadn't been updated since 1912. Everything was so dark and dingy, I wouldn't be surprised if an episode of Ghost Hunters has been shot there-- a or horror film. Dog-friendly, at least, but my Pitt was not happy there; and he usually loves coming on trips with us, However, He was very on edge. Very pricey, especially for what you get (nothing) and try to stick you with surprise charges when you check out. there was a wedding happening and the entire weekend (not just a couple hours), guests of the hotel were barred from accessing anything in the vicinity of the cafe downstairs, despite that being the single common area they have besides the pool, wasn't open during our stay. read more
