Sat at the bar and ordered: Spice Isle Swizzle - $15 - a massive cocktail and their take on a tiki drink. It was sweet, delicious, awesome. I love passion fruit so this was just up my alley. Very similar to a mai tain in flavor profile. Highly recommend. Bone marrow appetizer -$19 Two loaded bones with a great gorgonzola cheese and bacon jam spread on top and served with chips. I love blu cheese and the gorgonzola spread and jam was amazing. The marrow itself tasted like liquid pork belly, delicious. The chips for scooping I thought it was gimmicky at first, but they really went perfectly with the spread and marrow. I've only had this dish once at Blue Ribbon sushi and this blew it away. Came here because I was staying at the Galt hotel. Super convenient since I was in the hotel already. Overall, it was a nice view of the Ohio river and nice ambience. The waiter was kind of... interesting. He didn't really know what the best dish was or what the dish entailed. The bread and butter were SO GOOD. Softest fluffiest bread with everything bagel seasoning. Not too much, not too little. Seafood platter - oysters were delish and I liked the tartar. Not a fan of the cooked scallop dish... Arugula salad - yum! Can't go wrong Carnivore platter - filet mignon, NY strip, and ribeye. Rib eye was the best. Not pictured is the salmon entree. Good, classic salmon. Spaghetti squash was delicious too. Broccolini perfectly crispy. Overall, would come back. Pricey. I've had the pleasure of dining here twice: one just for drinks with some co-workers years ago after-hours of a conference, and most recently, for a private dinner at another conference. The atmosphere is definitely swanky. The rotating room is so fun (I believe there are two rooms)! No worries about getting sick or dizzy -- you barely even notice the room is moving. But keep in mind -- the rotating room is just a portion of the restaurant seating: not the entire restaurant or the bar. Our dinner last weekend was in the full private room behind the bar (non-rotating room). We all fit comfortably in the room and enjoyed the privacy of the space. It would've been nice if that room had some windows, though, so we could have a view. It kind of took away from the atmosphere of the place. I had no idea we were 25 floors up. Still, a nice space for the group we had. Our group shared four appetizers off the menu: swizzle meatballs, fried calamari, crab cake, and potato gnocchi. They were all deliciously mouth-watering. YUM. As for the actual dinner itself: I ordered a Caesar salad and the Filet XXV (8oz Center Cut Filet topped with Wild Mushrooms and Asparagus Tips, alongside a Loaded Mashed Potato Cake). The salad was perfect, and the Filet XXV was SCRUMPTIOUS. I could eat it for dinner every night. I loved the mushrooms & asparagus on top. I personally don't like mashed potatoes and was a bit hesitant about the Loaded Mashed Potato Cake until the other people with me convinced me it was good. They were right! LOVED the Mashed Potato Cake! It's sort of like a shaped mashed potato covered in a bread or fried or something. Finally, dessert. Of the six different desserts on the menu, we had five of them on the table within our group. I was the only one that ordered the Mixed Berries with Crème Fraîche. That particular dessert was a bit disappointing. I regret not getting the Banana Bread instead. While everyone else was feasting on cakey desserts, it looked like I just had a large bowl of fruit in whipped cream. It was, in fact, a delicious lemon creme, but still. Underwhelmed. All the other desserts looked good -- the chocolate cake is massive! (For those of you wondering, I don't like chocolate, so those types of desserts are not an option for me.) I don't think anyone managed to actually finish their dessert. Drinks were good. I just optioned for a wine. One member of our party ordered a Smoke Box Old Fashioned, which was delivered to the table in a smoking box. I had never seen that before and that was fun to watch! (I am not originally from Kentucky and therefore, not really knowledgeable in Bourbon.) Overall, an excellent dining experience with delicious food, a charming atmosphere, and exceptional service. Sadly, I was not impressed. I ordered a Smoked Old Fashioned which was absolutely delicious; however, the server opened the door of the presentation box so that the smoke went directly into my face. The server was an experienced server so he knew which way the smoke would flow and I did not appreciate that at all. I ordered the New Year's Eve experience and I was extremely let down. It was a five course meal where you were able to choose your selected options for the soup/salad course, the main course and the dessert course. I failed in choosing my selections at two of the three levels. The Caesar salad was amazing and I would order again. The shrimp risotto was not the highlight. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned; however, the risotto was crunchy in areas. Risotto is never supposed to be crunchy. For the main course, I ordered the fillet served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The server advised me I was only allowed to have the filet cooked medium when I am used to medium rare. I should've chosen the chicken or the halibut but I went with the steak, the mashed potatoes and the asparagus. The asparagus were fine however, the steak was easily medium well to well done and it was bland. It was horrible! I ate all the asparagus half of the mashed potatoes and maybe a fourth of the steak. When the server asked if I wanted to wrap it up to go, I said absolutely not. I was so disappointed. But the major disappointment was dessert. I ordered the strawberry tiramisu and I don't know what the heck they thought they were doing. Traditionally in a tiramisu the lady fingers (dry Itailian cookies) are soaked overnight in coffee or a coffee liquor, then they are layered with spices and mascarpone cream. They had the audacity to put dry, lady fingers on the bottom with some kind of strawberry compote and then whipped cream and chocolate drizzled on top. The ladyfingers were so hard, I had to use my knife to cut them after the first bite I was done. On top of that, the server gratuitied me 20% when I did not see him very often and he never checked on me once to see how my food was until the end when he asked if I wanted it to be boxed up. I feel the server knew he was going to gratuity me so he didn't care about providing good service because he was looking at his 20% no matter what. This was a lesson learned and I will never go back. In Louisville, KY we have a lot of high-end restaurants to choose from with restaurants that I have had much better dining experiences. The lucky thing is I can go somewhere else. read more

We had to ask for Lemons,, mini spoons, oyster forks. The seabass is good but the risotto was hard and crunchy. The burger was good. The Brussels need to be on a flat plate because you fry them and they are crispy and then you squash them into a metal cup to they steam and get soggy. The idea of a rotating steakhouse drew us in! This was actually our second rotating restaurant we have visited. Swizzle appears to have two rotating dining rooms. These are smaller areas that hold roughly 40-50 people each. It's almost completely closed in with a small opening leading the the bar/entry area. This appears to cause conversations to appear louder than they are. Many times it was so loud from the other diners, it was hard to hear each other. This really took away from a romantic atmosphere we were seeking. The rotating experience was super cool. It seemed to take an hour to make one full lap. The food was delicious. We tried the filet and salmon. We also had the wedge and caesar salad. The rolls were absolutely delicious. They go above and beyond to help celebrate your birthday. Came into Louisville for work and somehow lucked into a business dinner reservation at Swizzle, aka the best view in the city, hands down! This place sits at the top of the Galt House and revolves, giving you a slow 360° panoramic tour of downtown, the Ohio River, bridges, barges, you name it. Pro tip: make sure you get a table by the window and at sunset. Totally worth it! Since we were in Kentucky, we started things off the right way...with a bourbon flight. We also went all in on the smoke box old fashioneds made with Four Roses. I'm not a normal Bourbon drinker so it was fun to experience. Started with wedge salads, classic, cold, and loaded with blue cheese and bacon. For mains, most of us went with the 8oz filet. One of my coworkers got the pork tomahawk chop, which I had to sample, and It was incredible! My filet came with a whole squeezable clove of roasted garlic which was a nice touch. For sides, we shared grilled asparagus and sautéed spinach, both solid, well-seasoned, and didn't feel like an afterthought. Desserts...We went big, of course!!! The bananas foster cheesecake was my favorite. We also tried the blackout cake, rich, chocolatey, and kind of a one-bite-and-I'm-done situation. Service was top-notch, timing was smooth, and they didn't rush us even as the room slowly spun into nighttime city views. We dropped in because my wife thought they had a rotating bar - nope, it's a rotating restaurant section. We stayed for drinks anyway. I had their Stings Like A Bee (an Ali quote) and my wife had a Smoked Bourbon. The smoked drink comes in a box full of smoke, to infuse the drink. It was very good. The Stings like a Bee tasted great as well. Next time, we'll make a dinner reservation. They had an excellent section of wine, solid service, and nice views of the north side of Louisville. We dined here recently, because our guest had a son playing on a sports team and we wanted to eat and get to Yum Center early. Our reservation was at 4:45. We arrived at Galt house at 4:30 and the elevator would not go to floor 25. A sign in elevator indicated that you had to have a room key for elevator access. There was not one person in the Galt House lobby, or anywhere in sight, just a sign saying to go across road to other tower. We pounded on doors to alert HR staff.A lady made some calls. A maintenance man attempted using his keys, nothing worked. More people arrived. After 10 minutes ,a manager took us up on a maintenance elevator through the kitchen. We were seated at our table for five minutes, before a manager apologized for sitting us on the wrong side. We gathered our things and moved. We explained that we needed to be at center early. We ordered some mediocre calamari. Our dinner orders were taken, but nothing arrived till after 6:05 pm. My husband's salmon was good, friends liked their filets.I had a $14 wedge salad with almost no dressing or blue cheese. The $23 crab cake appetizer were two silver dollar sized bland offerings with more filling than crab. Awful. In spite of the uneven welcome and inconveniences, any other restaurant would have offered us an appetizer or drink to atone for their mistakes. Not here. We tipped over 20% and rushed to the stadium where we were late for the warm up. Do not recommend. read more

We were in town for the Barbie convention with a large party and were seated in the upstairs room, which had a nice view. However, it was insanely hot up there, which could've easily been remediated by the installation of a couple of small fans for example or improving the air conditioning. Things started off reasonably well - - the crabcakes appetizer was delicious - - however, my wife made the "mistake" of ordering her main course 15 minutes after the rest of the table since she was still having drinks and finishing her appetizer. Now one would expect in a restaurant with many dishes that are priced at over $100 that the kitchen manager would be able to prioritize her order so she could eat at the same time instead of having the food arrive over 30 minutes later. Then, instead of being apologetic, the waitress decided to debate with us the exact time of the order, and when we asked for the manager, he proceeded to do the same and make other excuses for why he wasn't doing his job. Also, the menu clearly stated for her $76 fillet XXV at the meal came with "sautéed mushrooms, asparagus,..." which for students of the English language or at least those that have a rudimentary understanding of it indicates that you're receiving two separate items and instead what came out was some sort of jumble of asparagus stalks. Everyone else at the table either got a nice serving of mushrooms or asparagus. At which point the manager wanted to debate that as well and ultimately we left unsatisfied overheated, and in general frustrated with what should've been a very high class luxury experience. read more

We had dinner reservations for 6:30 PM on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was packed which is always a good sign. We started our dinner with two appetizers: crab cakes and skewered meatballs. Our group enjoyed both. We were also served bread with a side of butter. Their bread was incredibly soft and delicious! There were 5 of us in our group. I had the salmon on herbed popcorn rice. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the rice was wonderfully flavored. Truly paired well. One of my colleagues asked for the filet mignon cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, it was medium well when it was served. She proceeded to eat it but we informed our wait person about the order. The Manager also came to our table and we mentioned what happened. He removed the filet mignon from the ticket and gave us complimentary desserts. He also offered to make it right by serving another piece of filet cooked the way she wanted it but she chose to forego the offer since it would have meant a longer wait. At any rate, they did the right thing which pleased our group. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees in an hour which is really cool. Everyone gets to see the wonderful view it has to offer. Food was good. Took a long time to come out. We had the chicken and the burger, sides were good. Chicken was alright- moist but the chicken itself was lacking flavor. It needed the sauces to have a taste. The potatoes served with it were good, again though, very rich and one note. Asparagus was fine, a bit rubbery. The burger was well cooked, it benefitted from the toppings because the patty was lacking flavor. Truffle fries could use a little Parmesan or something to cut the oil feeling. Ambience is alright. The turntable would "hiccup" occasionally, resulting in a very small, notable jolt. Service was fair. We could clearly tell our server was perturbed our check was not going to be high with a beer, chicken entree, burner entree, and chocolate cake on the bill. A little sad about the cake as reading other reviews, anniversaries were given a complimentary dessert, and even though noting this on our reservation, it was not acknowledged. Server let us know our entrees were "finishing up". 25 minutes later they arrived. Overall, it was fine. Oh I want to like this place so much. It's located on the 25th floor and slowly rotates so I'd recommend going in the fall or winter when the sun sets a bit earlier. The ambience is nice and our waiter was great. The bread here is phenomenal - soft and warm with good butter. The crispy broccolini in burrata is also quite good but unfortunately it stops there. The salmon was good though not special. The scallop dish was quite salty and the arugula salad was over seasoned. We also had mac and and cheese and shoestring fries, both of which had good texture but again holy salt bomb. You're going to need those water refills. read more

Four of us went to dinner at Swizzle while visiting Louisville. This restaurant is located on the top floor of the Galt Hotel. I had made reservations weeks before our arrival. Upon checking in, the three hostesses at the desk proceeded to direct us to the first table by the hostess stand in the wide hallway leading to the dining room. It was the worst table at the restaurant. When I expressed that I made reservations weeks in advance, and I didn't want to sit in the hallway, the three young women gave me an attitude. I was about to leave and spend our $$$ elsewhere. My friend, who is a manager at a high-end restaurant in Chicago, sought out the manager and within 15 minutes we were shown to a table within the dining room and a plus, in the rotating section of the restaurant, where you can enjoy the skyline of Louisville rotating 360°. I can't thank you enough Travis for the hospitality and a table within the restaurant. Our server was David, who provided impeccable service. The four of us started out with cocktails. I had the sting like a bee, which was a bourbon cocktail, delicious. We shared two appetizers, the grilled bacon and the meatball skewers. The grilled bacon was insane, a thick sliced piece of bacon served with a refreshing jam and chicharrons. The meatball appetizer had four small meatballs in a tomato sauce with melted mozzarella on top. The meatballs were small, soft and flavorful. My husband and I shared a watermelon salad. It was okay, it could have used more watermelon. Next, we ordered a bottle of wine for the table to share. For dinner, my husband ordered the Chilean seabass, which was perfectly cooked, moist and flaky. My friend and I split two entrées, the prime rib and the scallops. The prime rib was absolutely delicious and cooked to the perfect medium rare. The scallops were delicious, although there were only four on the plate for $58. I thought the price point was high for what was on the plate. The food at Swizzle is delicious, the atmosphere is nice, great cocktails and the service is on point. A fantastic restaurant by all measures. Excellent location on the 25th floor of the Galt House's west tower with panoramic views of the city and the Ohio River. The rotating dinner floor that allows you to gradually make your way around the turntable at least twice over the course of a good meal is a great experience particularly at sunset. Our server was wonderful, engaging and helpful with great suggestions but never obtrusive. The drinks are good-- while a bit of a showpiece upgrade spectacle, the smoke-house old fashioned (with your choice of 3 bourbons depending on your tier/taste preference, I went with Four Roses) is well worth trying as it's fun to receive and better to drink! It's a strong old-fashioned with great taste and the smoke actually infuses the drink in a great way. Good selection of affordable beers, great wine list, and a TON of bourbon + other whiskey options this being Louisville. Most importantly, the food! A straightforward menu with top-shelf items. They have obviously fine-crafted that list to have just the things they can do best. I went with the sea bass which was terrific. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, served with sweet potato hash (chorizo, mushrooms and leeks). I also had a side of the Charred Broccolini (w/ tomato aioli) and the baked 3-cheese macaroni (both were terrific). My friends had the filet, duck fat potatoes, and orecchiette pasta. Everything was prepared superbly and there were zero complaints from any of us. It's not a "cheap" place to dine but the ingredients, quality, and service more than justify the price tag. I was in town for a weekend of tasting bourbon with friends and Swizzle was a great way to end the trip! We looked up reviews prior to making reservations and found it to be a solid suggestion. We arrived at 8:00pm and chose to valet the car. It was $10 and that was reasonable compared to places we typically visit. For $28 they were pretty good sized pours. I've absolutely paid $20 for one pour of Blantons before so I was pleased with the price. The food was a solid 7/10. Here for a couple of nights out of town and let me tell you... Sam the bartender was absolutely amazing. Great energy, great drinks, and just all around good people. My partner and I are very " particular " with our drinks if you will and he nailed it. You can also spot some of the regulars that come to see him. We went for drinks and apps..and the experience. We were seated before our reservation time and decided to sit in the rotating rotunda. The drinks were a little sweet for us, but good. Plenty of apps to choose from. Our waiter was knowledgeable and professional, and great at casual convos. It is a great place to take out of town guests at sunset. read more
