I happen to find this place next to our hotel. It's was a great quick stop. The bartenders worked in tandem and continued checking on us. We had simple drinks closing the night so didn't get to try any special cocktails. We grabbed a couple barstools. Place was I'd say 50% packed. We did hear that this was the local late late stop. I'm clearly from out of town based on Brie's (the bartender) reaction to my request for a couple beers. Wasn't getting her attention from the second row of patrons, so I stepped up, made eye contact, and asked for two beers. Her immediate response (dripping with attitude and sarcasm) was "sorry you had to wait so long." Granted. I'm from out of town and used to big(ger) city etiquette at bars. But by no means did I feel like I was demanding immediate service or attention. Just relaying that we wanted a couple beers when she had a break. Clientele there was nice. Even they gave the interaction a bit of side-eye. Maybe she was having an off night. Regardless. I wanted to enjoy the place, but her attitude took the place down a couple stars. Side note - don't sleep on the food truck Papu Chos located on the back patio. The food was magical. Made up for the salty attitude at the bar. read more

On the morning of January 11, 2026, several members of my family and I went to Alcove to decompress following a funeral. During our time there, a verbal altercation occurred involving other patrons, and there was noticeable commotion outside the front of the bar. I stepped outside solely to check on my younger family members, specifically my 19-year-old niece, as they were no longer within my sight. While outside, the bartender, Breanna, was also present. During this time, she loudly stated, "It's always the dirty monkeys starting things." I found this comment deeply offensive and unprofessional and calmly expressed that to her. I did not yell, curse, or act aggressively in any way. Her response to me was disrespectful. I disengaged from the interaction, returned inside the bar, and sat down. Approximately 10 minutes later, Breanna approached me in an area of the establishment that was nowhere near the bar and began yelling at me. I politely asked her to leave me alone and to stop speaking to me. She became increasingly upset and ordered my party to leave. I explained that I had not approached her, had not caused any disturbance, and had remained seated the entire time. A supervisor or manager then approached, and I reiterated that I had been a paying, unproblematic customer and that the bartender had initiated the confrontation. I stated that if anyone should be removed, it should be the bartender who escalated the situation. Despite this, I chose to leave quietly on my own to avoid further conflict. I exited the establishment, got into my car, and left without incident. It is important to note that I did not consume any alcohol that night and was completely sober. Any security footage and eyewitness accounts would confirm my behavior and the events as described. Weeks later, my nieces returned to Alcove on their own. Upon seeing them, Breanna immediately called the police and falsely stated that they were with me during a previous incident in which she claimed that I--and others--attempted to jump her. This allegation is completely false. I was never involved in any physical altercation, nor did I threaten or attempt to harm anyone. I am not okay with this false allegation. I am a medical professional who actively works with and serves the community, and having such claims made against me is extremely serious and damaging. If a story is going to be told, it should include the fact that I restrained myself, disengaged, and refused to participate in ignorant, degrading, and provocative behavior--while being subjected to racial slurs and harassment by an employee. This experience was unacceptable, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed appropriately. read more

I called The Alcove, asked to speak with a manager. The gentleman who answered said he was the manager. I then asked if he knew if a wallet was found down there last night and his reply was, "he didn't know. I would have to come down and look". I then proceeded to tell him before he rudely interrupted me that my my card that was in my wallet has a charge from there that I did not make and before I could tell him that I hadn't even been there, he rudely interrupted me again stating and I quote " that's a problem for you and your credit card company." I tried to explain I had the charge reported and he then hurriedly and rudely reminded me I could come there and look for the wallet?! This review is for anyone who visits there, the Manager is rude and gives zero care on how they will take cards even if they are stolen and not give two thoughts about it. This local speakeasy that was once a nice place to visit has run its course. Not only have I had this experience others I know for a fact have had worse. To the Manager...lighten up and care about the people who get frauded under your watch! Zero stars if I could! read more

the vibes are immaculate in this bar (given Bre or Hannah is behind it). the owners really care about the establishment and are more attentive to their patrons than most bars. the pin ball machines have served as great addition to the place. they used to do karaoke out back, then they moved over a new business (the blue aux) which the vibes CAN be great there too, but in my professional opinion, karaoke was much more welcoming when it was on alcoves premises. don't forget to check out the food truck in the back. they have unique dishes that are insanely delicious and can't be replicated anywhere else. all in all, this establishment is worth the visit. read more

The Alcove has a very relaxed feel to it. The lighting is dim, but it's not too dark. There's music playing the background, and quirky decor throughout. There was a wide age range of people here too. The bartender who was there during my visit was super kind! There's a wide selection of drinks to choose from. Since it was chilly the night we visited, we went for the Wassail. This was a homemade cider, and you can choose what shot to put in it. It was DELICIOUS! If you can get this drink, definitely try it out. I can't wait for my next visit to The Alcove and I highly recommend that everyone stops by here! read more

Wow! I did not expect this place to be so great. I went to catch a little if the Thursday night nfl and really found a new place to hang out. The new drink menus is out and I had The Cask of Amontillado, a rum, sherry, citrus drink that was great for us rum lovers. I also had The Tristan Ludlow a rye, gin (haymans old Tom) and sherry drink with a little maple and it was so balanced. The taco/burger truck out back had a great taco served on some Ethiopian bread. Lovely downtown bar in Jeff hits all the right 'notes' - go here now. When I first moved to Jeffersonville a little over a decade or so ago, the choices for dining/drinking in downtown were sorely lacking. While the improvements and additions to the 'scene' have been more than welcome, the one thing we were really missing was a chill bar that stays open late but isn't a total dive (and not in the cool way) and borderline dangerous. Thankfully, The Alcove fills that niche. Great cocktail program, rotating specials, and prices. Friendly, helpful bartenders and service. Clean, professional setting that doesn't feel sleazy or 'dirty on purpose'. Dedicated to staying open late (not that I get over there late but I like knowing its there). There is a whole bunch of local art on the wall and the back area has a carnival type theme including the food truck the serves curly fries and the like! Tried to order a drink at 2:45 am (15 min before close) and was told I couldn't be served bc they were closing. I mentioned there was still time left and they still refused. Not 2 minutes later 2 other people were served and at 3am, 2 more people were served. I counted a total of 6 ppl served after I was told no. Then when we mentioned it to the staff, they ignored it and said it didn't happen and they ignored me after. Not a good business practice and for my first time, it was not a good experience either. read more

Love what they've done with this place. Excellent atmosphere, accommodating bartender who knows his stuff, and some really cool cocktails. Sat in there for about an hour Friday night with my wife and we met 3 or 4 new couples just having a cocktail. Excellent "pub" friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend giving it a try.
