I am being honest, I've come here as a foreigner many times, and they've never not once messed up my order, nor made my coffee taste bad, they've always been chill and kind every time I visit, I ordered an Iced vanilla latte half-sweet with oat milk and they have never asked me to repeat my order, I definitely will say it's a must go to for a delicious cup of coffee! read more

4.5 stars. We went here twice during our trip and enjoyed our drinks thoroughly! Service can be a bit cold but definitely not unfriendly or anything. They get busy and a lot of tourists so maybe they get annoyed? However service is quick and drinks are super tasty! I got an iced oat milk matcha 16oz and was pleasantly surprised with how yummy and well made the drink was. I'm picky with my matcha and I got it both times we stopped by as it was delightful. We were offered yummy chocolate covered coffee beans too :) I wish there was card tipping available since we didn't carry cash we could not tip as there was no option for debit/credit tipping. Absolutely unacceptable experience. I visited The Human Bean and ordered a quad-shot white chocolate Americano with steamed cream and half the usual white chocolate. After tipping $1, my total was $9.50. What I received tasted like bitter, watery ash--completely undrinkable. I returned and politely let the barista know it was weak and off. She remade it, but said, "That's just how the machine makes it." Again, it was awful. As someone who knows coffee, I can confidently say something is wrong with their automated machines--likely pulling under-extracted or reused shots. When I mentioned this, she said if she had to remake it again, I'd be charged again. Really? I brought the drink back to my wife, and she nearly spit it out--it was that bad. I drove back again and asked for a refund. The staff was dismissive and sarcastic. After pushing them to call a manager, they finally refunded me minus the tip. So I got $8.50 back, and they kept the dollar. That's theft, plain and simple. This isn't just bad customer service--it's dishonest and shameful. Automated machines or not, if your product is broken and your staff is rude, you don't deserve to serve coffee. I'll be contacting corporate. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

Ordered some food and a few drinks. Almost did not get one of my food items and my simple order of an Americano with coconut milk wasn't done right. There was no coco milk in there at all. After having lunch at the Newport Café, my wife and I walked across the street to the human being coffee shop. We each got a coffee, I got the maxi café and she got the cappuccino with Irish cream. They were both outstanding. You are very reasonably priced and the service was quick. read more

I didn't want to give minus stars for this place but the wait was sooooooooo long probably 1/2 hour at least for 2 cars ahead. 1 person in one car and two in the other. Crazy to wait for coffee that long because there were 2 people. I got an ice coffee and figured it would be quick since it was cold brewed. The Human Bean offers some of the best coffee drinks available in the area! They are a great alternative to the places where over-caffeinated baristas want to chat your ear off (you know the windmills I'm talking about). I highly reccomend the Java Chip and Caramel Granitas. They are delicious...but be warned that they are addictive! So if you want a great coffee drink (that doesn't require a full interrogation of what you do for a living and where you see yourself in 5 years), go to the Human Bean. In case The thin girl with long dark hair at Human Bean, is wondering why I did not leave her a tip....and I am a good tripper, I waited in line at the drive-thru for over 15 minutes with only 2 cars in front of me. When the front car got their coffee and the second car pulled up to the window, Emma proceeded to chat with that person for a long time, before and after the order was placed and then after the order was collected by the customer. At several times, Emma looked right at me as if I were annoying her while waiting my turn to order. I am a patient man and I will gladly wait for good coffee so I was really disgusted when my coffee finally came and it was WEAK, like watered down, instant coffee! I had waited patiently while Emma chatted for 15-20 minutes for bad coffee! Never again. read more

One of our favorite coffee spots. We actively look for these when were visiting Oregon. We've always had good service at these locations and the drinks are exceptional. Today was our first time here and our second time ever at a Human Bean location. We love this company! Great coffee, what a cool name! The packaging is awesome, black cups with the bright lime green sleeves (vs. ugly cardboard looking ones from you know where) then they place a candy coated coffee bean on top of your coffee lid. These guys ROCK! We are heading back to Portland tomorrow Sunday and can't wait to stop in on the way home. The staff was great. The only negative is this company needs to create a uniform for the staff to wear! They have a great logo as well. Good job at branding. read more

This is literally the worst coffee I've ever had! My "triple shot" americano tastes like lightly coffee flavored water. The iced chai is even more flavorless. How!!! How is this possible. Although the drinks are decent, every time I come through when they're slow I see them sitting on their phone paying no attention to the fact that I'm waiting for them to acknowledge me. Personally having to wait for a barista to notice my existence in their drive through makes me want to leave and find a different coffee shop. Okay, thought I'd give this place another chance. When I last complained about the pricing there I received a reply that they were going to change the signs in the near future. I held out hope they were going to rectify the problem. I am so naive sometimes. The signs were changed showing a price increase from $3.25 to $3.50. Noting the change me thinks, "Ah, they're now including the flavor in the pricing." Nope. I paid $7.50 for 2 raspberry infused ice teas. I've talked to the employees who have not given me a satisfactory answer and I've written the company and received an even worse response. Other HB locations don't do that. I know because I spend about $100 a month for coffee. I have a very long daily commute. I'm going to start spending my money at another company that doesn't have irregularities with the pricing. Incredibly slow. If you don't mind waiting 20+ minutes in a short line for a coffee, then come here. I understand being friendly to customers, but you don't have to actively keep people waiting because you want to chat with the person at the other window. Wow. The owner does not wear a mask, and half the workers don't wear a mask!!! They are not washing hands after taking cash! straight from drinks to cash to customer and back to drinks. So they could be spreading germs to EVERY customer. After my long wait the snotty young girl looked disappointed when I gave her .75 cents. Sorry my top isn't good enough for you. Also one side was wayyyyy faster that's the other. 8 cars went through on one side while I was the 3rd in line on the other side. That means 6 cars that arrived AFTER me got their drinks first. They should coordinate together better. I was disappointed at the nonchalance regarding health and safety. No precautions were being taken. I will not be going back, due to safety concerns. Especially in a county that has numbers spiking out of control with covid. I could contract covid from another customer because they are above washing hands and following state mandates. read more

I normally don't write reviews but the poor customer service I have just received was completely disrespectful and inappropriate. When we got to the window I greeted her with a smile and asked for a 20 iced decaf americano with milkadamia and caramel drizzle. Considering this is only 4 shots, water, and probably 2 ounces or so of milk I didn't think that this was considered a "complicated" drink. She immediately glared at me, rolled her eyes and goes "okay" then walks away. A new blonde girl comes back with a tattoo on the side of her neck and says "Sorry she's in training and said you had a complicated drink" and I said "oh I didn't think it was complicated" and she said well it is. So AGAIN I repeat my very complicated and inconvenient drink order back to her and my friend ordered a 20 iced oat milk Mexican mocha. Once again very inconvenient. This time she walks to the bar to make the drinks and yells back " The second drink is oat milk but you can use any alternative milk they're all the same." My friend and I's jaw immediately dropped and we were shocked she would even think that's appropriate to say out loud in front of a customer. We immediately drove off since this location obviously does not care about the quality of their drinks let alone customer satisfaction. I have an allergy to caffeine and dairy so I am very sorry to have placed such a difficult order on a trainees first day. However, I have been working in the coffee industry for 7 years and would never treat a customer with such disrespect. Both of these girls are not an accurate representation of this company and should BOTH be in training. I'm very interested to see how corporate will react to such negligence. read more

The drinks are good and the staff is friendly. However, when I go someplace and read the prices on the sign, that's what I expect to be charged. When I ordered a "flavor infused iced tea" and the sign said it is $3.50, that is what I expect to be charged. But no, I was charged $3.75. I might add that my husband complained about this awhile back and the company's response was that the sign would soon be changed. So, it went from being $3.25 ($3.50 with the flavor) to the sign reading $3.50 and then we were charged $3.75! What exactly is "flavor infused" if it isn't adding a flavor? I have written to the company again and hope that I get a more satisfactory answer than my husband did. He travels for work and spends a lot of money at the Human Bean in Philomath. They don't overcharge like they do in Newport. I will not be going back to the Newport location. There are way too many other coffee shops that put the the correct prices on the menu. To me, this shows honesty and I only want to spend my money with companies who show me the respect of being honest about their pricing. read more

my friend and i ordered drinks with a couple changes due to allergies and the first lady just walked away confused after my friend ordered her decaf americano with milkadamia milk. (she's allergic to caffeine and dairy). then a new lady (blonde, with tattoo on her neck) came to the window and said her drink must've been complicated and to repeat it. then i ordered my mexi mocha with oat milk and she turns around and to another coworker says "the second drink is oat milk but if we don't have it then use any alternative milk". right when she said that my jaw dropped and we simply drove away. my friend and I BOTH have worked in coffee for over 3 years and we currently work at black rock back home. there is absolutely no excuse for how we were treated or the fact that she had the audacity to use whatever milk they wanted without asking me. don't work in customer service if you can't at least fake being a decent human. read more
