At the edge of a charming downtown, this place offers outdoor seating, which the weather invited me to on the day I stopped by. They're open seven days, and there was quite a lot of business for a small town on Monday night. The menu is pretty straightforward Italian, and is marked for vegetarian needs. Their smaller size pizza was a bit light for a meal (I suspect the larger one would be plenty), so getting a salad and garlic bread turned out to be a good decision. The basil lemonade I got didn't really deliver much more than a lemonade flavor. There is indeed something humble about tomatoes, but the setting here in addition to capable renditions of staple foods made stopping to sample some tomato-based cuisine a worthwhile decision for me. read more

I picked The Humble Tomato because they allow pets. They have a beautiful outdoor dining space that feels like eating in a quiet garden. They even have some tables in a grassy area. I dined outside wiith my dog. They offered a dog bowl of water for my pup. They had some wonderful sounding seasonal cocktails. I didn't try any but definitely would have if I wasn't dehydrated for water. The dish of the day was a chicken piccata. I went in wanting something else and changed my mind to the piccata. The server let me know how much it cost which was nice. The dish was delicious and I had enough leftover for lunch the next day. My server was attentive and had my water refilled throughout the meal. Oh my goodness! 5 stars! This place is delicious! The atmosphere is cozy. The service is great and the food is to die for like drop dead delicious! So we got the cheese sticks, soft and cheesy deliciousness. We got a cheese pizza and my brother got a Forest Gump inspired pizza. Unfortunately it only came with like 2 shrimp, that was the only flaw though. I got the Steak n mushroom calzone and it was also delicious. Their marinara sauce is so good. I stopped by here with my brother + my friend last spring-ish and the food was super tasty! Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They offer all kinds of different appetizers, soups/salads, pasta, sandwiches, and artisinal pizzas -- it was honestly kinda difficult to decide on what we wanted, but I think it'd be hard to go wrong. We enjoyed everything we ordered. :] The bread they use from their sandwiches are from a local bakery, as is the meat that they use (Swift Level steak + bacon). We were a group with 4 checks, 2 different tables. Service wasn't good, refills sucked, had to ask multiple times. We get back home to Ansted, WV from being at Cass WV. The following day I looked at my receipt and was charged for a steak sandwich that our table did not order! NO problem, I'll call and fix they will fix it tomorrow. I called on Sunday, the same day I looked at my receipt, we ate on Saturday I called on Sunday. I was told to call Monday it could be fixed then, ask for Emily she would be working and answering phone calls. No problem I'll call and I did MULTIPLE times and no answer so without a doubt she was screening calls. Benefit of the doubt I called 2 other days and wasn't answered, the one time I was answered Emily just walked out of the door. So I'm out of approximately $17 and I'd never recommend this place. My Human took me to a place called The Humble Tomato. It turned out it was Dogfest 2024! Lots of other dogs and lots of petting all around! Somebody said it was because of TOOT, but it wasn't me, I didn't even smell it. My Person ordered what he said is his usual, the Magnum P.I., but I didn't try it, those red things that grow outside make my stomach hurt. He says "no", they aren't good for me - he says that a lot. He seemed to really like it though. He said the pizza was perfect. Slow service isn't surprising but you better have good food to back it up, and that simply wasn't the case. Beware!! Prior to August 2, The Humble Tomato was my favorite restaurant in Lewisburg - good food and good service in addition to a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, however, I experienced firsthand that the service at this restaurant is totally unpredictable. Our group of 8 had an early reservation and arrived right on time. However, things began to deteriorate upon waiting an hour for our food. After raising the issue with the waitress and the manager, our food arrived in spurts, orders were incomplete, and the situation became a comedy of errors. The ineptness of the staff was blazing, which is when the manager should have stepped in and practiced the basics of customer service - correct the mistake and make amends. Unfortunately, she did not. And therefore, there are 8 of us who have a really bad taste in our mouths for The Humble Tomato now and will not be returning. read more

Let me start by saying that my husband and I are NOT hard to please, especially when it comes to Italian food. When looking through the reviews for this restaurant you might think 'Wow, this place seems great!!' or at least that's what we thought. We ordered takeout on a Friday night. There was a 40 minute wait, which is fine, but we went in after 40 minutes and had to wait an additional 10. We ordered chicken alfredo and chicken parmesan. At $20+ per entree you would think the food would at least be up to par with Olive Garden, which has similar pricing. That was not the case. Truly, you could make it at home and get better results. In the chicken parmesan the chicken was not crispy, it was soggy (which is funny considering it should've been extremely fresh since we had to wait so long) it was also extremely bland and had a burnt oil taste. It was also a very small amount of chicken considering the price. The red sauce tasted like it was just a jarred sauce, comparable to Ragu or another cheap brand. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. The chicken alfredo was "blackened" but it was more charred than blackened. It was also very dry and a small portion, at that. The sauce was ridiculously underwhelming and also tasted like jarred sauce. The noodles were mushy and gross. It also had sun dried tomatoes, which my husband liked but I thought were grossly out of place. My husband wanted to return the food and ask for at least a partial refund because it was so terrible. I was starving though and didn't want to wait around for another takeout order from another place so we did eat it. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed by a restaurant in my entire life. Well just the facts. Stopped for brunch once. Out of eggs. Stopped by last night. Not seating at 8pm. Closing at 9pm. Asked to just have drinks, dish washer had left. So told to leave. I feel these were lame excuses. Eggs are commonly available at any grocery store located within one mile of this restaurant. If you close at 9pm. Then close at 9pm, don't leave the door open at 8pm and advertise that your business is open until 9pm. Perhaps change your hours to reflect you actual operating practices. If you cannot serve drinks because the dish washer left, I am severely concerned about his work load the following morning. Perhaps consider switching to disposal-able dish ware, because if your business model is dependent on a dish washer then I believe there is a fundamental flaw. Nestled in a gorgeous small town in Lewisburg, WV is this quaint adorable spot. Pretty menu of beer on Tap but food was nothing to write home about. I got the bruschetta, tomato soup and grilled cheese. The soup was okay. Grilled cheese was a grilled cheese.... Bread and cheese. Lol. The bruschetta was more like pico de gallo which was odd. On a fun note.... They have a beer called Devils Anse. Anse is NOT pronounced anus. Thankfully the couple next to us did not pronounce it correctly which gave us a good laugh. The waitress didn't even flinch. True professional. I, on the other hand, almost covered my dinner date with partially chewed grilled cheese as I immediately lol'd the moment I heard the couple order the devil ANUS. Staying in Lewisburg for a Winter Storm weekend. Once we got settled into our AirB&B we walked over to this fantastic gem of a pizza place. "Pizza Place" feels like an understatement. The sign says "Humble" but the food "Boasts" of culinary creativity and exciting flavors. We started with the brussel sprout appetizer. That could have been all we ate and I would still give this place 5 stars. Crisp little leafy bundles of joy covered in goat cheese, hot honey drizzle, and crispy pork fat goodness. Just stop what you're doing and get some of these immediately. Even your pickiest veggie eater will buckle under the phenomenal flavor of these bad boys. Next up we're the pizzas. We ventured Down the Rabbit Hole (DRH) and ran into Magnum PI (MPI). Not literally mind you, those were the interesting names of our pizzas. The DRH was insanely good with roasted cloves of garlic, ricotta sauce, mushrooms, and chili oil. This is a must for garlic lovers! The creamy ricotta balances the garlic while the chili oil gives a subtle kick. The MPI is a savory adventure for your tastebuds. Spicy capicola and rich thick cut bacon cubes find balance with sweet juicy pineapple on this pizza. Careful! You won't look at simple ole "Hawaiian Pizza" the same way again. If your visiting Lewisburg this place needs to be at the top of your list. Heck, even if you're passing through on 64, take the damn exit and get yourself a good meal here now! read more

We have eaten a few times here and they are always busy which is a direct result of their great food. The service is good and they have a good variety of craft beers on tap and in cans. I would highly recommend making reservations even in a weeknight as they do get busy and wait times can be long. I have a garlic allergy and they can make a pizza with just oil on it with custom ingredients on top. Everyone else in my party had great meals and is a favorite whenever we come into lewisburg. The atmosphere is really good as this is one of the older buildings in town and there is ample seating outside in the warmer months. read more
