A place you can hang out and stay a while and not even realize hours have gone by because you made new friends with the people sitting around you! My husband and I sat at the outdoor bar on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone was so friendly; the bartenders, the couple sitting next to us, the dog on the other side of us, the people sitting across the bar, etc. It was a great time! And it was my first time having country fried steak (I am a recent transplant from the North) and I loved it! Icehouse was a good pick for a lunch play date. They have a cute outdoor play area and music. Great menu with a kids menu as well. Local beers are always a win! Waitress could have been better. She seemed a little over us and not the friendliest. Didn't stop us from enjoying our time. We sat outside and it was a hot day, but plenty of tables with umbrellas. Food came quickly (table of 6). One of the kids meals was forgotten and had to be re-fired but nbd- happens to the best of us. Chicken tenders were real chicken so loved that. Service was absolutely on point the times we have been here so my overall score would be 7 stars when I combine the flavors and my total satisfaction that will make me go back again and again. This time we climbed to the second floor to find a table at what I would describe as the most inviting bar in the South due to the eclectic decor and the appearance of the bar itself with dozens of upside down bottles hanging from the ceiling that at first I thought they were there just to decorate the place but nooo! they actually poured the specialty bourbon we ordered which BTW was very good and was only 90 proof which was a very nice match to my Yingling, we spent about two hours there and not because the service was slow but because we were having a good time, at times was a little loud but my out of town friends truly enjoyed the kind of place, they said that next time they come to town they would like to come back to the very same table. The conversation and good times is what kept me from taking a picture of the dishes I ordered the Cajun Pasta, was absolutely delicious and will order again the next time I go back, wife ordered the Pecan pork chops and said it was made with her cravings in mind I won't be waiting for out of towners to come in order to go back, this has become my most trusted and preferred Southern restaurant in Chucktown/Summerville area, no questions and way better than any distant second best that we have been, make it 8 stars! Been coming here for years. Unfortunately, at my last visit with a party of six seniors including Vets, we were surprised to discover that the was a $10 "Hospitality" charge on it in addition to the food and beverages charges. When we asked our server about the charge we were informed that this was a recent addition added to the bills. As people on fixed incomes, we wish that they told about it before hand. This left a sour taste in all our mouths. We always leave a 20% tip in cash. Someone in our party recommended that moving forward the amount of the hospitality charge be deducted from the cash tip. Wow! Wish I could give this place 10 stars. From the service to the ambiance to the food. It was all fantastic. Our sever Christina was incredible she was so attentive and really made our night fun!! The Bartender (i didn't catch her name) went above and beyond for us as well to try their different sauces, and sample the different drinks on tap. They have great indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside so my son could play at the playground. He enjoyed it and made some friends. The honey mustard was unreal, the sweet tea vinaigrette on the salad needs to be bottled, and if you're a ranch lover their ranch is delish!! The atmosphere was very nice. The food was good but not unique. I had a surprise line item on my bill labeled as a "hospitality fee". The server told me that was a fee to cover the cost of inflation. So rather than bumping prices a little, there was a surprise add on. In other words, the posted prices are noto actually the real prices. decided to try the ice house again after 2 years.....hated the food this is my last time here and will not be back ordered the shrimp dinner $24 with the size of shrimp that comes in Chinese food. the collards were spicy ( i was told they are not ) and the mash potatoes were SOOOOO buttery that i sent them back and refused to eat that amount of butter ..Bright yellow and slimy. the burger plate was supposed to be medium and came to the table cooked WELL. Very good experience! My coworkers and I came here on Tuesday, February 3rd, after a big CBP inspection. There was no wait, and our party of five was seated very quickly. The parking lot is quite small, but we were able to find two spots across the street. The entrance was a little difficult to find at first, as it's located in the back of the building. We initially walked upstairs into another bar area, but if you're looking for the restaurant, you'll need to enter through the back. Our waitress was extremely nice--cheerful, attentive, and very helpful. Our meals were delicious and beautifully plated. I ordered the shrimp and grits, while another coworker ordered the Cajun pasta; both dishes had a slight kick of spice. My lunch-sized shrimp and grits was outstanding. The shrimp were plump, tender, and perfectly seasoned, and the grits were creamy, smooth, and full of cheesy flavor--clearly made with care. It was a beautifully balanced dish that felt both indulgent and classic, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Other orders included two house salads (one with grilled chicken and one without protein) and a sandwich paired with fried sweet potato fries. Everything came out fresh and well-prepared. The food was excellent from start to finish. While the menu is slightly on the pricier side, it's absolutely worth it for the quality and atmosphere. I finished with the crème brûlée for dessert, which was the perfect ending. The custard was silky and rich, and the caramelized sugar topping had a satisfying crack--offering just the right contrast without being overly sweet. The atmosphere inside is unique and charming, with exposed brick and an old-world design that adds warmth and character. This is a very typical local restaurant with an assortment of surf and turf options. Nothing too fancy on the menu and well-priced for what it is. Not many tables and it shares space with a bar. My service was totally fine, very pleasant and food came out fast. I had a filet & collards and the Ice House salad; steak was borderline between rare and medium rare (I ordered medium rare) and was fine. Collards were nothing special though I never have high expectations there, salad was actually pretty tasty and didn't need dressing. Overall the price was not too high, it was actually well priced for what I got, so I can't complain. The Ice House was, in fact, an ice house at one time. Thick walls are a reminder of that function. I've now been there twice and both experiences were excellent. I was with groups for lunch on both occasions and the service staff did a great job with multiple orders. Time from order to food was very reasonable and the delivery was accurate. First time I had the petite filet mignon which was perfectly cooked. There was a small amount of gristle, but I find that increasingly common in that cut. The smashed potato side was quite tasty with a pleasant gravy. My wife had the salad as one of her sides and it was both delicious and quite large. On my second visit I had the shrimp and grits. This was presented in a non-traditional way with shrimp off to the side and the grits mixed with a few boulibaise elements, thus giving it a significant flavor boost. Very nicely done. Give The Ice house a try, I'm glad we went back again. On this second visit we dined inside on the upper floor, and it was a cozy vantage spot overseeing the 1st floor bar and tables. The ambiance from the brick walls, low lights, fireplace arch, and ceiling beams gave TIH an authentic feel. The food didn't disappoint. My Caesar salad was good, and my white bean and sausage soup was excellent - tops that I've had. TIH has a full local draft beer menu, and so I enjoyed my favorite IPA. Not sure what happened here but the quality of food has declined substantially over the past few visits, over the course of a year. We started coming here when we moved back to the area about six years ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere and great food. Now it's just a bland watery mess. From the soup to the shrimp and grits, overall very disappointing. I hope they find a new chef before their reputation goes in the gutter. Until then we won't be back. Great place to eat and very family friendly. However, I have one major issue that is non negotiable. The patio/beer garden allows people to smoke. There is a great kids area and the restaurant allows people to smoke in this area. There were about 15 kids playing tonight and everything was great until people started lighting their cigarettes. I would add 2.5 stars if smoking was not allowed. There is plenty of room to smoke your cigarettes on the front porch or out by the street. read more

WOW! This is the food we have been searching for since moving to the area. We had one of the best waitresses I think we have ever had. She made very strong recommendations on what to order. We took her advice and we are glad we did! The lamb 2 ways was hands down the best lamb I have ever had. The balsamic glaze really tied the entire flavor profile together. The decor of the place is rustic with old brick work that gives rise to its former glory as an old ice house that supplied ice to the masses. Upon entering, you can immediately enjoy the old brickwork that was part of the Ice Houses pedigree as a former "Ice House". Upon seating, we were greeted by our server Emma who was on her AAA game. She knew the menu inside and out and was able to successfully navigate our choices for appetizers and dinner. Took my husband last night for his birthday to dinner. Don't go there super hungry as the wait was longer than the time they had told us. Brittany was our server, and I immediately told her we knew what we wanted and we were really hungry. She told us no problem, she gets everything to us quickly. She was wonderful, listen to what we wanted and was most attentive. We got to know her a bit, found out she is going for her associates degree in cosmetology, had a brother who also works there and lives with her family.
