This was our anniversary dinner and our first time at Oscar's. I indicated on our reservation that this was a celebration dinner. It was very busy when we arrived and we were seated quickly. Our server was very nice and attentive throughout the meal. We started with the cheesy mushrooms. They were tasty but not worth the $14 price tag. I ordered the seafood burrito and my husband ordered a filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I really enjoyed my entree and my husband said he did too. Did I think my burrito was worth $30? Absolutely not. We passed on dessert. There was never any indication, mention, or anyone who asked "are you celebrating anything this evening?" My husband also filled out a comment card that was provided with our bill. Has anyone reached out from the restaurant to follow up on his feedback? Not yet This meal was fine. Oscar's, when someone orders Bruschetta, it's implied that there will be more than two slivers of a dice of tomato. You price it high, but this is the second time I've ordered it to go and you skimped. When I dine in it has it covering the bread. Do better. read more

We started going to Oscar's in 2022. We loved every visit. But our latest on May 16 was our last. In our party of four, two ordered prime rib: one was a King and the other was a Queen. When they were brought to the table, no one could determine whose was whose. We couldn't and neither could the server. The baked potatoes were, to be generous, 'small.' And the broccoli in three cases comprised TWO florets. My wife had stuffed flounder, but--like the potatoes-- it was very small and served alongside very pedestrian rice. Our past three visits to Oscar's prior to this one were also sub-par, but we chalked those up to isolated events. But small portions and high prices now seem to be a trend here, an unfortunate evolution for what we thought was a stellar Summerville restaurant. read more

Never had other issues with my food, everything is tasty, the staff is great, the place is clean, and they have done some renovations to the space to create an enclosed patio. Second visit but first review. On both occasions promptly seated in a very pleasant casual dining area. Drink orders taken quickly and delivered quickly. Started with a cup of She Crab soup. Packed full of very tasty crab. Hasn't overtaken my number 1 pick but certainly in the top 3. Dinner for me was the blackened bass, served over rice with asparagus. All excellent with the fish flesh very tender. My wife had the quiche, which was also good but a touch dry. Service throughout was excellent. Prices were very reasonable, with 4 of us dining for around $100. We brought an out-of-town couple who were very impressed. Not perfect, but highly recommended. (Consider it 4.5 stars). read more

Some of the best food I have had, when you consider the spectrum of dishes. I will sometimes order one of the fish specials, steak specials or other recommendations. The traditional menu items just like the specials never disappoint. As far as food goes, and I dine out quite frequently, I have never been disappointed. The ambiance is great. The restaurant section is very nice and relaxed. The lounge area is large and full service. We prefer the lounge area. Whether it be a booth table high top or directly at the bar, it is comfortable, friendly and always enjoyable. 95% of the servers are some of the best I have ever encountered and we dine out so frequently. The weekday lounge staff is top notch, the environment/ambiance should never be altered, and the food quality is extremely worth the visit. Thanks Oscars. read more

We had a wonderful waiter, Mitch, who is very good at anticipating what everybody needs. My sister, who goes to Oscars frequently, is very appreciative of his extra service and friendliness. The meal was wonderful. I've forgotten the name, but it was shrimp and scallops over rice and roasted vegetables on the side. I observed that all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We have been several times now - sat in the bar, dining room and patio - and every time we have had good drinks, service and food. We had a reservation this weekend and Charles was our server. We didn't have a light on the table and he made sure to bring one over. He was very attentive and detail oriented. It was my mom's first time there and she enjoyed the prime rib very much! We all had different drinks and meals, and all came out great. I had the Jamaican grilled mahi and the salsa on top had a sweet heat, and was cooked perfect. My husband got a sour apple martini (not in the menu) and it was well made. It's definitely a tried-and-true spot for a great steak / seafood dinner. read more

Yum, yum, yum! Make sure you sit in Trey's section! We endured the outdoor screened patio- not a hardship really, the fans and air units made this area very pleasant. I had the She-crab soup! I loved it! My husband felt it was a little sweet. Whatever, it was mine!!! Followed by a salmon salad. What a hit! We ended our meal with a Caramel Xango! These were fried cheesecake rolls topped with caramel sauce, with 2 scoops of cinnamon ice cream. And... my husband who thought my soup was too sweet devoured 80% of it. This is my son: As my first time being here I am very pleased. The aesthetic of the restaurant was beautiful with lots of flowers and low country vibes. The food was so delicious. There was so much food I couldn't even finish it I was so full! The sweet tea was refreshing . The fried chicken was nice crispy, tender, and juicy, and prime rib was amazing. The only thing we're disappointed with is that it took until our 14th anniversary to make this grand discovery. We booked reservations last minute to celebrate, and it was the best decision we could have made. First they brought out the best bread either of us have ever had with our wine. Then we had oysters on the half shell and mozzarella half moons for appetizers. They were both wonderful and the cheese pull was amazing. For our main entree, my husband had the prime rib with mashed sweet potatoes and spinach. He is still going on about the spinach being amazing and the prime rib cut like butter. I had the chicken carbonara and it was literally the best pasta I've ever tasted. We're both already itching to go back for more. For desert I had the caramel xango and he had the banana's Oscar. Both were absolutely amazing. Our waitress Tiffany was the cherry on top of our experience. Haven't been to this old classic in decades, but when I was growing up it was known as "the fancy restaurant". It was definitely showing its age on first approach but was pretty packed when we took MIL for a family "Fakesgiving" last Thursday. We had a reservation, but the parking situation was frustratingly insufficient. Hubby had to drop us ladies at the door and cruise around looking for parking. We joined the rest of the family and were seated in the addition to the left of check-in. It felt like a church rec room. It appeared to be a deck addition that was walled off to turn it into a room. It was very utilitarian and completely lacking in ambiance. My childhood impression of this as a "fancy" place was dispelled. Our waiter, Calvin, was charming and spectacular. He was attentive without hovering, appearing with perfect timing to top up tea or water. We ordered appetizers for the table and enjoyed our beverages. The fried calamari was good, lightly breaded and not rubbery. The grouper bites were delicate and flaky. The cold crab dip was meaty but underwhelming, with the crab flavor lost under the paprika. It would have been better warm. The legendary she-crab soup was nice and meaty, loaded with sherry and worth the fuss. My shrimp and grits were fair, with plenty of big beautiful shrimp. The grits were white and well-cooked, if a bit lacking in their own flavor. The shrimp and sauce were the stars. The mushrooms had no business being there and found themselves adorning hubby's steak, where they fit much better. The one that slipped by was an unwelcome and off-putting bite, not working with the shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their entrees including the baked scallops, the salmon, the fried combo, and the ribeye. We were too full for dessert, so I missed out on trying the Bananas Oscar. The service and food are excellent and good. The prices are fair for the quality of food, and you can't get a 6 dollar cup of better she-crab soup anywhere. If you want ambiance, make sure they are seating you in the dining room proper. I didn't get to see inside, but it can't be worse than the addition. Might try again with just the hubby, and save room for dessert! read more

I traveled 800 miles to attend my sister's golden anniversary remembrance dinner that was held at Oscar's. There was a set menu that stated the steak would be cooked medium. I asked if I could have it cooked a bit more and was told "no, all the steaks are cooked medium" I was then served a rare steak which I could not eat, I asked for a go box (my hotel room has a microwave) and was told that go boxes ate not allowed at these dinners. I went to look for the manager for permission to get a go box and the waiter came back and said I could have a box. The people seated around me all had eatable steaks not rare like mine. Oscar's did not disappoint. Our food and service was great. We started with the bruschetta which was good but just need a little salt. We all enjoyed the she crab soup and definitely recommend getting the bowl! Four our main meal, my mom and cousin had the steak salad and they both enjoyed it and I ordered the fruita Del mar. I was expecting a very light garlic lemon sauce, but instead it was more like a Alfredo sauce. It was DELICIOUS, but very fully and heavy. My seafood tasted fresh and we would definitely be back. We stopped in mid-afternoon for a late lunch, and sat outside in Oscar's covered patio bar, a very pleasant choice. Our server was personable and attentive without being interruptive, adding to our relaxed experience. I ordered Seafood Provençal, my wife had the She Crab soup and a Salmon salad. My shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked, as was the salmon. The Provençal sauce was fresh and full of flavor to complement the seafood. My wife is hooked on She Crab soup, and loved Oscar's version. Based on today, I'll keep Oscar's on my will-visit-again list. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for decades and tonight was the first time I could say anything bad. I come here for the prime rib and bring family members on important days. Tonight was one of those nights. I ordered the prime rib rare. It was rare but cold all the way through as was the rest of the plate. The waitress was rude and dismissive. When I go back again, which I will, if she shows up at my table I will request another server. I don't want to put anyone off of this restaurant but beware. read more

So it looks like the last time I was here it was 2 yrs ago for dinner according to my last review. Reading that review the food wasn't that great then... The place was pretty empty for being close to noon. Our waitress was attentive & nice. They played classical music in the room. Think Bridgerton. Today I went for brunch & I still wasn't impressed by my meal. My breakfast burrito lacked flavor. The mimosa flight was small oz wise and only had 3 flavors. The brunch menu is small and undesirable, however, the bread basket was good & the managed to get the chicken & waffles right. The waffles had a really good flavor profile. The saracha drizzle wasn't too spicy. It had a nice, light kick to it. If I go back I'd get that. Unfortunately I wasn't inspired by my surroundings to take photos. read more

Had been to Oscar's a couple of times and had wonderful experiences. This last visit, on May 30, 2026, made us almost forget them! Ambiance: Well, we knew something was foretelling for party of four, as it was extremely active in the usually quiet and somewhat intimate dining area. Our table was in this very dark area just outside of the bathrooms and in the path to the kitchen. We did get a table lamp that helped for reading the menu when held closely. That lamp? It died about 3/4 of the way through the meal. The menu? We had menus but had to borrow the specials menu from another table, as we were left wondering why we did not know what the server meant when saying they were on the paper. Service: Our waiter (David), along with many other of the servers were struggling due to a large party in the next room. When our table was placing their drink orders, he started to walk off before getting mine. That became a trend and running joke through our visit, as we kept having to speak up on who was missed. When the food came out, the other server had the places all mixed up due to how our primary server wrote them down. Food: The She-crab soups were good. The bread was good, when it came out. Our main dishes? One person took two bites of their seafood burrito and left the rest (David did not question why he was cleaning up an almost full plate - obviously something was wrong), another had their $53 surf and turf (steak, scallops and shrimp, no lobster, as how they usually are prepared), with their requested medium rare steak being a bit beyond medium and slightly tough. My Jamaican grilled Mahi was decent, the rice was chewy (one of the two sides that were put on my plate, as the server never completed taking my order) and the last person had the baked scallops and was puzzled by the flavor of the risotto on their plate - one that they would say was ok, just not wanting to taste again. Dessert: Nope, no one wanted to consider it Receiving the check: Yes, the split checks were accurate but bumping hard into someone's head while placing one down and not excusing yourself? Not professional. Returning? Questionable, as we had touted how good it was to our out of town friends who we were going to take this coming weekend and now are unsure. read more

This is a very middle of the road steakhouse, on par with an Outback or a Longhorns, and priced about the same as well. Started with oysters in the half shell which were rather flavorless but inoffensive, and crab. The crab was quite clearly pre-cooked and was cool when it came out, and was pre-cracked. That was a bit of a surprise to me, never in my life have I ordered crab at a restaurant and had it pre-cooked. I had the surf-n-turf special, the filet was cooked properly but it was pretty tough for a filet. The smoked gouda mac & cheese had that ultra smooth consistency that screams "factory food"'. Really, most of the meal really felt/tasted like Sysco or something along those lines, more than a real deal in-house-made meal. There were a bunch of minor little service issues, like no fresh pepper offered for my steak, even though the fresh pepper grinder was right next to my table, and a glass for my mocktail being left on the table almost the entire meal even after telling the server I was done with it and not getting a refill. I also need to call out - and this isn't directly Oscar's fault - but for a restaurant that bills itself as a very upscale restaurant, the clientele comes there dressed like they are going to Burger King. If you think this is an alternative to Hall's, Oak, Burwell's, etc., it is not. The good news is, the price is not unreasonable for what it is, an alternative to Longhorns or Outback. J.Ja read more

Got an Oscar style filet. Filet had zero flavor. Crab was pathetic looking. No hollandaise. Husband got prime rib, which looked AMAZING, but was really tough. Did not taste good. Mashed potatoes were terrible. Zero garlic. A vampire could eat them, no problem. Everything seemed very rushed. Tiffany made zero eye contact. Seemed very passive aggressive. Overall the food and service is good. The server said that their shrimp and grits were voted the best in the area. I don't know about the best part, but it was decent. Had a reservation for Sunday at 12:30, we got snow on Saturday. Didn't hear anything so assumed they would be open. Late Saturday night I received a text asking to change my reservation to 1 pm as they weren't opening until then due to the snow. No problem, confirmed reservation, received confirmation text. Show up at 1 pm with 13 people and they aren't open. I called the next open day to speak to someone about what happened. Basically what I got was, system must have failed, we thought you canceled.
