So parked across the street, not eating all day, which I typically don't until supper, after busting my ass on a 12-hour day I came over here to imbibe and eat. I was immediately met outside by a child advocate, apparently, trying to raise money for poor children with backpacks and toys and whatnot. She was actually really nice, but probably not the best place to set up shop, and try to take advantage of people who have over consumed on their way out. Sort of surprised that the owner/management let that happen right out front their doors. So after buying a $74 backpack for a needy child, apparently, I made my way in through the double doors. There was a younger hostess and I asked her if I could sit at the bar. She was super soft-spoken and hard to understand, but I could understand her gestures when she nodded "yes". Made my way to the bar, and had a seat. All they were playing was some lame a** soccer, and I think tennis? I asked my bartender if this is what they normally play, and she told me it's a sports bar, and they always play all sports. Well, I don't watch sports, it's too woke, but in that sense if there's no contact, it's not a sport. So essentially I was watching two different versions of sissy ball. I told her, or rather asked about their viewing schedule, and I noticed horse racing on a TV across the restaurant, and she was nice enough to put it on one of the TVs behind the bar, so once again after a brief period, I was able to reacquire remasculation. Pfff "sports".. Anyways, her name was Taylor. And she's one tough chick. Super down to earth, good with banter, quick witted, and she can dish some ish out if she needs to. Everything that makes a strong bartender. While on that note, the other two bartenders that helped me in between were Nadyne and Kaitlyn. I only browsed through a few of these reviews, But I'm telling you, they are on their A game. They all function cohesively as a unit, constantly pay attention, and constantly check on their clientele. Sort of a lost art these days. The locals there are pretty cool also. But after all this is the south, what do you really expect? That's why I stay in this area! So let's get to the food. If you follow my reviews you know I'm on a no-carb kick again, so I ordered the "28 day aged Ribeye".... If you know me, and you know how and what I cook, grill and smoke, you would know that I'm on top of my game. Before I go any further I had two different bartenders ask me if I wanted A1 steak sauce or anything, and my reply was "Well, I sure as hell hope not". If you're buying a ribeye, aged or not, you shouldn't need anything extra as far as seasoning and flavor goes. Is it 28 days aged? I want to say I doubt it. Did it need more seasoning, and should I have taken the advice of two different bartenders of getting steak sauce? Probably so. But I have a solemn oath to beef, that I will not desecrate it in any type of sauce, no matter how it's seasoned. That being said, it wasn't seasoned the best. I actually glanced around the bar for salt and pepper but didn't see any, but I just ate it. For a ribeye, it wasn't super tender, so I tried cutting it long wise to make it more tender which actually helped a bit. But this is a sports bar, not a steakhouse, so what do you really expect? It wasn't horrible, but I can't wait to have a real ribeye or prime rib from an actual steakhouse. It came with mushrooms, and it was supposed to come with potatoes, but like I said, carbs. But Taylor offered me options for different sides, so I went with the Caesar salad and broccoli. I kept the menu in case I wanted to order some wings to go, and I didn't, and damn it I wish I did. Because I'm already hungry, so trust your gut and get some food to go! Place was pretty clean, nice setup, all the staff were top notch, even the bathroom was nice. I would definitely absolutely go there again the next time I'm here, but I would probably order wings instead of the steak. It did have nice grill marks though! All in all, great experience, I left satisfied, and the staff here really does make sure your experience is exactly what you want. Solid four stars for this place. I turned around and walked out of last night and I will never be back. Let me paint you a picture. Neighborhood sports bar. Chain restaurant. The kind of place you go to watch a game and eat overpriced wings. And this man at the door is running a FULL WEAPONS CHECK. Not a vibe check. A WEAPONS CHECK. ID? Fine. But then he's patting me down, hits my belt, and has the nerve to tell me to lift my shirt. LIFT. MY. SHIRT. I have flown through some of the most aggressive airport security in this country. This man made TSA look like a friendly handshake. Every single person in line was visibly disgusted. Nobody signed up for this. We wanted nachos. We wanted beer. We wanted to watch a game. I said absolutely not, turned around, and walked out the door. And I will be telling everyone I know to do the same. Carolina Ale House...what is going on over there? Who greenlit this? He was attentive, personable, and gave excellent recommendations on the menu that did not disappoint. From the food to the service, everything was top notch. I recently went to Carolina Ale House to attend a Charleston Social Event. The outdoor atmosphere was lively and their was a big turnout of folks from our group. I had a refreshing Yuengling and sampled some catered appetizer food of chips, wings, cheese, and fruit. This was my first time here and it was an good experience. I've enjoyed every meal I have had here! Recently, this past weekend we came in for some burgers and an app. What always stands out to me are their boneless zinger chicken tenders. We ordered buffalo and they come out so good every time. Nice and fresh, hot, and crispy. I love their batter. I would say it's their stand out item. I've had their baby back ribs, philly cheesesteak, and slow aged ribeye as well. All have been delicious. This weekend I ordered the sourdough patty melt with fries and it had great flavor, especially from the onions. Their Lou's secret sauce is something like a creamier version of Raising Cane sauce. Their fries are wede like but have more crispiness to them than most wedge fries do. My husband ordered the double western smash burger and it wasn't much of a smashburger-- there were two patties but they were rather thick to be called a smashburger. However, it was still delicious and we ate everything! We'll come back here to watch a game on their many TVs, or just to have a night out that feels a little more entertaining. The restaurant is pretty big and they also have a large outdoor space with its own bar and a pool table inside. It's definitely fun, especially with a group or on a double date! read more

My fiancée's son came to visit after driving 13 hours, and we wanted to stop in for one quick drink together. When we arrived at 1:15, the door was locked, even though the posted closing time said 2 a.m. A man with a red beard opened the door to let a woman in (she told us she was just walking someone outside). As he opened the door, he asked if we had a tab. My fiancée said no, and the man immediately said we couldn't come in and slammed the door in his face. As the door was being slammed, my fiancée asked why. My fiancée then knocked on the window and pointed out that the door said 2 a.m. The man laughed, he knocked again asked again dude it says 2 am?? and then as my fiancée was walking away, the man shouted "you're fucking gay" through the window, laughing with the woman he had just let inside. This behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. We have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment over the years and know many people inside. If they had closed early, a simple and respectful explanation would have been more than enough. I've worked in the service industry for many years, and I would never tolerate an employee treating customers this way. If this individual represents your business, that is extremely disgusting. This experience sadly has completely changed how we view this place.....We loved coming here!! Had the juiciest, most tender burger I've had in a long time. I can't stop thinking about it! It was hot and fresh on a brioche bun with lettuce, pickles, and if you want raw onions they're 75¢ extra (wild and annoying as I didn't know until receiving the check -_- ) Fried pickles were lightly breaded and not too salty. I've come here a few times and some visits were more pleasant than others. I typically sit at the bar, usually by myself, and after work. Some of the servers are very nice and friendly. Some...not so much. Overall it's a cool spot, lots of TVs with options for sports events. The draft selection is good too. I had an allergic reaction because this restaurant is so CHEAP they use the same oil for French fries as they do SHELLFISH! I called and asked what kind of oil they use and Jessica said they don't use peanut oil but when I asked about the shellfish she told me they share the oil to save money. This is a health hazard and a danger to people with allergies! I started itching when I began eating the French fries and I knew something was wrong but I would've never thought a company would be that cheap! I haven't been here for a while but it's definitely gone down hill. When we arrived, the hostess asked if the high tops would be ok. I asked if we could have a booth and she was clearly annoyed. Didn't even acknowledge the request, just grabbed some menus and walked over to a booth, put them on the table and turned and walked away. The actual server was training someone and they were pleasant. I ordered the pub burger and fries, medium rare. It came well done, over done, dry and room temperature. The fries were also room temperature. I didn't complain and probably should have. The meal was terrible. Not flavorful and just a huge disappointment. I was a little disappointed in the food and serve this time around. Went the Carolina Ale House for brunch. The restaurant was not very busy but took a long time to get our food. I ordered the steak and eggs that came with toast and fried potatoes. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. Not a pleasant experience eating cold eggs and cold steak. The steak did have a good flavor dispute being cold. But when the food arrived it was missing the potatoes. The servers insisted that it did not come with potatoes. Grabbed a menu and showed her. Potted arrived as we were finishing our meal. At one point I watched our server mess with her hair looking in a mirror by the kitchen to style her hair. Never left to wash her hands. Kind of gross messing with your hair where food is being served and bring food to a table after messing around with your hair and not washing your hands. Not a pleasant sight. Stopped into Carolina Ale House recently and had a really solid experience. It's the kind of place that works well whether you're meeting friends to watch a game or just grabbing a casual dinner. The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, and there's plenty of seating so it doesn't feel cramped. The food was better than expected for a sports bar -- I went with a burger and wings, and both came out hot and full of flavor. We went here to celebrate a birthday. The birthday person chose the location as they had been here multiple times before. They were out of multiple entrees and even A1 sauce! They gave us their last bottle of Heinz 57 sauce. Most of what we were able to get was bland. The fries and pretzel were the best foods we got and the birthday person said the drink was good. We ended up taking most of the food to-go. Honestly, if the food somehow fell out and we couldn't eat it, we would not have even cared. The Grouper Fish Fingers is a new item on the menu at Carolina Ale House. They were cooked to perfection and they came with fries and coleslaw. They give you so many fries You can't eat them all and the coleslaw was also good. This is an item that I will definitely order again it came out light and crispy. Service was excellent. read more
