Stayed in the Hope Suite for a few days. What a nice room with great old school flare but with some modern touch's (great tub). Check-in was easy with good explanation on everything we needed for our stay. Free breakfast on Saturday was exactly what we needed to start the day. Loved the suite of the cottage we stayed in. Appreciated the decor and the scent that was apparent when you walked up the stairs. The bathroom, especially the shower, was remarkable. Beautifully tiled and loved the glass door to the shower. The breakfasts were so delicious. The best and dreamiest scrambled eggs. Loved the french toast for second breakfast as well. The breakfast was complimentary with our accommodations. Would recommend staying there and would love to stay again. Also, the "yard" was beautiful. We stayed for two nights in the Mozart Suite, one of the off-site guest suites owned by Inn at Hermanoff. While the suite itself was visually beautiful, the décor was charming, and the bathroom with its clawfoot tub was absolutely lovely, almost everything else about our stay was unfortunately disappointing. The biggest issue was the lack of comfort and quiet. The bed was very uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. On top of that, the building is extremely loud. You can hear every sound from the other suites, including when guests use the restroom. Both nights, we were woken up by people coming in late, loud, and clearly intoxicated. On the second night, we had the added "bonus" of listening to a woman vomiting until around 4 a.m. while her husband yelled at her. None of this was the Inn's fault directly, but the lack of sound insulation made it impossible to rest. The amenities added to the frustration. Neither the WiFi nor the TV worked at any point during our stay. We reported this and were told staff were working on it, but nothing was ever fixed and no apology, discount, or accommodation was offered, despite the room costing over $500 for two nights. Finally, the complimentary breakfast was extremely underwhelming. The food was bland and forgettable, and the coffee was honestly terrible. Given the price point and reputation of Inn at Hermannoff, we expected something far better. Overall, this stay was a major disappointment. There are far better options in Hermann, and we would strongly recommend staying at Hermann Crown instead. Our experience there has consistently been much more comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable. read more

Honestly I was very disappointed. Took my wife for our anniversary and had high hopes for a good experience following the reputation of the Hermannhof inn. First impression wasn't what was pictured or promoted I purchased a charcuterie board ahead of time and found it back in a Togo container. Then we found bed bugs on our bed. We mentioned something to the staff and all they had to say was sorry. Then while breakfast we found a hair in our breakfast. Our stay here was unfortunately disappointing. read more

The Brahms room itself is beautiful. The soaking tub is gorgeous, the towels soft and fluffy. It is basement level so be prepared for steps and no natural light. There's a patio off of the bedroom however the house next door blocks the view. Electric fireplace works well and adds nice ambiance. The breakfast was a delicious treat. We also enjoyed our meat and cheese platter and bottle of wine on the patio. The coffee bar was nice and mini fridge came in handy. However, the mattress is sagging and is horribly uncomfortable. Neither me or my husband slept at all and it kind of ruined our next day. All the couches and chairs are sagging and need replaced. The shower heads need de scaled and the base of the shower needs a deep clean. You should really replace the tv & stand next to the fireplace and instead place two chairs and a small table in front of the fireplace that way you have a place to relax around it. Next time we would probably try a room at the inn and not one of the cottages. read more

Such a pleasant surprise! We visited for a wedding and have never been to Missouri before. Hermann itself is a gorgeous town, but Hermanoff Inn takes the cake! Check in was easy and everyone we spoke with was warm and inviting. Our room (Heaven's Orchard?) was walking distance to town, down (a lot) of beautiful stone stairs. We actually snapped a photo because the stairs are so quintessential. Our cottage was impeccably cleaned and the bedroom and bathroom very large. The soaker tub was such a nice reprieve and we really enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the morning. Our only hang up is that we wish we could pick it up and transport it closer to home in California. read more

We had to cancel our longer vacation last minute and had to stay more local and decided on Hermann. Even though we have lived in the area for years we had never been. Booked our room very easily on the website and it was exactly as described. Because we were there during the week we happened to have the whole cottage to ourselves. A bottle of wine and fruit was available to us in the fridge that we enjoyed on the patio. The custom service alone is what gives this place 5 stars. Always greeted with a smile, always greeted by any passing employee and even when we misread when breakfast ended they insisted on us eating and serving us after close. Not one employee seemed put out about it either. If you are looking for a very cute, very clean place to just get away for a bit, I do recommend this establishment. read more

This was a little piece of heaven,,,, & I barely left the bathroom!! lol On New Years Eve we happened upon this town on our way to Kansas City. It was so picturesque & unexpected that we decided to see if there were any rooms available at the next hotel we saw. Lucky for us, this was it! The Inn itself was full, but they did have a suite that had opened up because the people who reserved it got sick & canceled. By suite they mean a house a top a hill that overlooks the town. The bottom floor of the home is closed off, & the top floor consisted of a large bedroom with fireplace, TV, white bathrobes, complimentary wine, cheese, crackers & water. But the magic was in the bathroom ;) It was the size of the bedroom, with it's own fireplace, a large soaking tub & a separate spa shower. The Inn keeper was kind enough to give us a listing of all the restaurants that would be open that night, but they were unnecessary. I soaked in that tub until I could have been mistakened for a very happy little California raisin, drank the wine & ate the crackers on the large porch while looking out at all the twinkling lights of the town & then had leftover pizza for dinner before falling into the most delicious sleep. I woke up fresh as could be to greet the new year! Breakfast is served at the Inn from 9 am to 10 am, which I thought was a bit stringent when I first heard it, but after having had the breakfast I would say "who cares what time you have to get there", because it is soooo worth it! We walked in yawning at 9:45 am, lol, to find that our table was ready & our food came out immediately accompanied by coffee & orange juice. We each were served a hefty piece of quiche of sorts, a fresh large scone & a granola & fruit mix like none I've had before. Not only was it delicious, it was also not overly filling but very satisfying. By far, this was the best New Years Eve I've had to date :) We will definitely be coming back & plan on taking advantage of all the wine tastings when we do! read more

My husband and I celebrated our 35th Anniversary in October and we wanted a beautiful romantic getaway. We booked the Norman suite at the Inn at Hermannhof with the hopes of having a wonderful anniversary together. The room was gorgeous! The atmosphere was incredibly romantic with the giant two person tub and fire places in both the bedroom and bathroom. That said, our stay was a bit disappointing, because the bed was absolutely the WORST bed we've ever slept in! The bed frame is beautiful like all the other furnishings, but the mattress felt as old as the historical building! Lumpy, saggy, and VERY uncomfortable! We each felt like we slept in a big hole on separate sides of the bed. The middle of the mattress seriously had a lump so big, it felt like there was a hard tree up under the bed holding it up! Big letdown for our romantic getaway. My husband brought it up to the staff the next morning when we turned in our keycard, and he was given an "oh sorry," here's a bottle of wine for your crappy nights rest in your $300 dollar plus room! We so wanted to have a great stay, but the terrible OLD mattress really ruined it for us. To top it all off, we're pretty sure the bottle of wine that they tossed at my husband was corked, or had been stored by the radiator. It was really bad. The wine we'd had in our room the night before was the same type and much better. We so wanted to like our stay, but sadly I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want a comfortable nights rest. read more

Stay here when you visit Hermann! The accommodations were lovely and the hospitality was 10/10. We stayed in the Berger Grass house in the Wagner room and it was perfect for 3 women on a girl's trip. There was a cheese plate and a bottle of wine in our fridge and fresh cookies were left for us after our room was tidied. Also loved the robes in our room. : ) Breakfast is at the main inn and was lovely. Try a (free!) poinsettia drink, you can thank me later. Do be prepared to walk a rather large hill or set of stairs. But honestly, I needed it and enjoyed the walk after a long day of visiting wineries. If you have any sort of injury or physical concern, there are closer locations in town. The manager of our hotel picked us up with bags on our last day and would have done that every day of our visit had we asked. The hospitality of the staff was absolutely incredible. Everyone was thoughtful and accommodating. Loved it! read more

Ok where do I start... Don't let anyone tell you the 78 steps to cottage that were constructed in the 1800's is a short little jaunt...it's not. So your choices are to stay at the Inn and watch the building shake from trains constantly or hunker down in a cottage that like an expedition getting there. We stayed in the champagne cottage...$300+ per night, what???? Trust me, it was very cute but about $100-$150 per night OVER priced! Did I mention there are no ice machines "up there in the bluff"? So we ended up buying a styrofoam cooler from save a lot, and a bag of ice. We actually asked for ice at the Inn, and received a "deer in the headlights" stare. But I will give the lady an "A" for effort, she used a ziplock bag and grabbed us a few cubes from the kitchen. While the kitchen is on my mind, the breakfast was not what we expected! If you spend over 300 bucks per night I expect (demand) exceptional breakfast...I mean, isn't that 80% of a bed and breakfast claim to fame? They served concentrated orange juice, water or coffee...what about a glass of milk? Dried out muffins and high school kids waiting tables...they were actually sweet and a better part of the experience. I could go on and on, but I'm done. I will check this bucket list box and move on. Mr Dierberg you should be ashamed of yourself or maybe you should have followed your brothers footsteps and got into the grocery business. Folks, there are definitely better ways to spend your hard earned dollars. read more

I'm writing this because there's not an adequate amount of information on their website... I stayed in the Wagner room, it has a twin bed and a queen. Beautiful & large room. But the stairs up to it are quite a haul... The lighting could be brighter but it has a beautiful view. Cleanliness: the cups they obviously just wiped out with a washcloth. BRING YOUR OWN COFFEE & creamer if you like that. The coffee here is not good at all, not much nearby either. They start breakfast at 8:30, so if you're used to eating earlier I would bring something. read more

Wow! A hidden treasure just a bit over an hour from St. Louis, Hermannhof Inn & Winery was such a wonderful experience ! The Hermanoff selection of award winning wines from sweet to dry was very impressive! The Inn was classy and yet with its history charming. The steam shower and jacuzzi bath big enough for more than two ! Whether it's a bff weekend away, a wedding , reuinion or a team building seminar or corporate event, it's definitely a MUST! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND RUDE GUEST SERVICE TO BOOT! We booked 3 nights for our anniversary, checking-in yesterday to the Johannes Blust Cottage ($1,400). Twice in the middle of the night, 3 hours apart, the screeching fire alarms went off! The second time it was 11:15pm and we called maintenance, who came out and couldn't identify the problem and chalked it up to "Gremlins". He had also been out to the cottage a few hours earlier in the evening fixing the A/C for the other couple sharing the cottage. I'm going with - there's an electrical short impacting the whole cottage! After the maintenance guy left at midnight, I struggled to get back to sleep a SECOND time but couldn't. The next morning I went to the main house to speak with the manager, who was off but was phoned. The manager argued with me about how many times the fire alarm went off and said, "I don't know why you couldn't get back to sleep at midnight!" as if it's my fault that I was woken up TWICE out of a sound sleep by the malfunctioning fire alarm! I told her if she didn't believe me that it went off more than once, to speak with the other couple who shared the cottage! We also mentioned that this was not the first time it had gone off that night to the maintenance guy who came out and is the manager's husband. I didn't ask for any money back, a free night, or anything - and was giving this argumentative manager legitimate guest feedback. No apology, nothing but an argument. We left after one night and will never be back! read more

Hands down THE best place to stay in Hermann! Stayed 2 weeks ago at The Inn at Hermannhoff in the Majestic suite and it DID NOT disappoint! Everything from the staff to something as small as the heated floors in the bathroom, every detail is thought of in this room. A gigantic whirlpool bathtub with fireplace next to it made for a great time with the bottle of wine and meat/cheese plate waiting on you in the room. The next morning we didn't want to get out of the unbelievably comfortable king size bed but we heard rave reviews from other guests how great the breakfast was and just like the room it was perfect! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET MARRIED HERE!!! For your own sanity, run - run far away. I got married here, and it's the only part of my wedding day that I seriously regret. The entire planning experience was painful. I have rarely been so stressed by something. We almost walked away a few times but the options in Hermann are limited so we persisted (to the detriment of our health/sanity/stress-levels). Julee, the manager, is mean and rude and it trickles down to her staff. I do not blame her staff - they tried their best but they are ruled by a tyrant. We literally heard her screaming at her staff on the phone at one point while we were on hold. And that's not to mention she raised her voice at me and my mom. I had never planned a wedding before (shocker), and I didn't have any idea of budget. Julee quickly alerted me that I had "elegant tastes but a cheap budget." "Sure, we have broccoli but you are going to have to cough up more money!" Or something along those lines... Thanks, lady. On that note - the Inn at Hermannhof charges Chicago prices... another reason to look for other options. They tossed me between event planners and regularly reversed what they had offered. Case in point: I had a minimum of 8 conversations in which I mentioned that I was going to bring pies from Chicago to serve at the wedding. They confirmed dessert was the single item you could bring from an external vendor. I literally said "Do you have room in your fridges for the pies? Can I drop them off early? Can your staff cut the pies" - all to which they provided positive answers. A few months after these conversations (and after I had done a tasting in Chicago, placed my order, and made arrangements for delivery), they came back and said "You can't bring in pies - only cake. Our chef can't accommodate. You are putting him out! If you must have them, there will be an upcharge." And they never admitted to having told me I could bring pies in the first place. It's like their goal is to make me feel like a crazy person who was losing my mind. Exactly what you are looking for while planning an already stressful event... right?! Julee was so mean to my mom - I can't even get into that. I also tried terribly hard to find someone higher than Julee to complain to about her lack of customer service but it was impossible! I even called the partner winery in California and they apologized and promised to put me in touch with someone to help me but they never did. I mean - is she related to the owner or something? Aside from the planning, when it finally came to the day of the wedding, it was as if they had never executed a wedding before. Several of the people that I had been in touch with coordinating ended up working the wedding as bartenders and servers. The execution was unreal. I paid extra for pre-set salads and when we walked in from our cocktail reception, there was nothing on the tables. It took them at least 1.5 hours to serve the salads. The servers were struggling. They would serve salad to half the table, and then return 30 minutes later with dressing and 4 dinner rolls (for a table of 8). Like they just thought they'd wing things that night. The entire point of the pre-set salads was so that things could get moving quickly. The buffet didn't open on time. The pies (which I ended up buying from them) weren't set out. All things we had gone over time and again. My toasts were supposed to happen at 7:15pm but due to their missteps, they happened around 8:30 pm, which gave us about 45 minutes for dancing at the end of the night. NOT what I had envisioned for my wedding reception. Oh, and one of the bartenders was either drunk or it was his first night. They were so slow, my guests were lined up at the bar all night. When I asked for Sauvignon Blanc, I had to repeat it 3 times. Also not what I had envisioned. The food was pretty good - that's the only saving grace. Thank you, Chefs!! And I want to reiterate, this wasn't Amy, Sadie, or Vickie's fault. You can only be as strong as your weakest person and Julee's attitude and behavior trickled down to her staff. So overall, I had an amazing wedding day that I will never forget - every part that I executed went smoothly until we arrived at the Festhalle. That part I'll never forget because I was fuming at how poorly executed this expensive part of the party was. And in conclusion: Do. Not. Get. Married. Here. Not at Hermannhof, not at the Festhalle, not at any of their many many venues in town. It's all the same staff and you'll be tortured by Julee. Run! Save yourself!!! read more

So the stay in the cottages was good. Room smelled a little musty but it was November so I can understand. The room was a little quaint for my taste and would have preferred a little more updated, but that's what they are going for. Great shower. I'd go back during summer or early fall months when the town has more going on. Nice place to stay on a weekend trip. Full breakfast would have been nice and the fireplace in our cottage didn't go any higher (gas) than a dim flicker, but those were the only issues. read more

This was our second time at The Inn at Hermannhof, both in the Brahms cottage. But we were run out by an infestation of Asian Lady Beetles. The woman whom I reached when I called the after-hours number said they were "ladybugs" and "our entomologist tells us there's nothing we can do about them." First, they're not ladybugs. Second, you could at least vacuum up the massive dead pile of them in the corner of the room at the very least. This tells me the rooms are not cleaned very well. And third, perhaps sharing this information before we arrived or at least warning us when we checked in would have been nice because we could have just saved everyone the trouble. But no, nothing was said. The bugs were all over the back wall leading out to the patio (which is in the bedroom area), they were on the nightstands, they were crawling on the wingback chairs...I was creeped out. And then when they began flying around, dropping from the ceiling -- oh, and they do bite and they smell bad -- I was done. The woman offered to put us up in a room at the Inn in town, but we didn't want one of those rooms. We had looked at them before, and we liked this cottage. Had I known there was a bug problem, I wouldn't have booked again. She didn't offer to have anyone clean up the mess piled around the wingback chair. She acted ticked off to be called and she clearly couldn't understand why I wouldn't accept her offer to move to a room in town (next to the noisy railroad tracks, which reviewers on TripAdvisor commonly complain about). So we left before 8 p.m. on the day we checked in. And since then, the only communication we have received is a canned email thanking us for staying. Um, we didn't stay. read more

Last week, my husband and I stayed at The Inn at Hermannhof for a late honeymoon away from the kids! It was amazing! We stayed a room called The Majestic inside the Inn, and majestic it was! The decor in the bedroom was beautiful, complete with a canopy bed, beautiful decorations and a very cozy fire place. The bathroom was my favorite part, and it was just completely amazing! There was a huge bubble bath Jacuzzi, a steam shower (built for two or even more), heated floors, and a fireplace over the bathtub.... it was just beautiful! The pictures we took did not even do it justice! It was a great experience! In our room we were welcomed with wine (which was delicious), cheese and sausage (From a company in Hermann), fresh fruit, and a plate on our pillows with delicious baked goods! It was the icing on top of the cake! And you MUST have the breakfast in the morning, it was the best breakfast we have had at a B&B. Everyone of the staff members we came in contact with was so pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. And due to the location of this Inn you are right in the middle of beautiful downtown Hermann, making it a short walk to all the fun shops and amazing wineries! We will definitely be staying at The Inn at Hermannhof every time we go back to Hermann. We highly recommend this inn! read more
