Super scenic inn with cottages on the bluff overlooking a quaint downtown and vineyard vines. Sitting on the Adirondack chairs for a night cap is quite relaxing. Donna at the front desk was warm and helpful. Our favorite was our server Eric at breakfast. After the first day he remembered exactly how you prefer things and makes you feel right at home to start the day.

I cannot say enough about how great the Inn at Hermannhof is. My wife and I visit Hermann every year for my birthday, and we always have a wonderful time, but what adds to it is how consistently kind, attentive and fun everyone at The Inn at Hermannhof is. Kendra, Donna, Brittany, and everyone else made our stay exceptional and just like home. We will definitely be back. Thank you guys for another awesome stay.

Honestly I was very disappointed. Took my wife for our anniversary and had high hopes for a good experience following the reputation of the Hermannhof inn. First impression wasn't what was pictured or promoted I purchased a charcuterie board ahead of time and found it back in a Togo container. Then we found bed bugs on our bed. We mentioned something to the staff and all they had to say was sorry. Then while breakfast we found a hair in our breakfast. Our stay here was unfortunately disappointing.

This inn offers beautiful antique furnishings, kind staff, a gigantic tub for two, a steam shower, and a well maintained old, old building. We enjoyed watching the fireworks off of the third floor deck. There is not a hint of must or odor despite this being such an old building. The owners have done well at preserving its charm while offering a comfortable space to stay. It's not inexpensive but we felt like the splurge was worth it for a special o

We had a recent one night stay here. The accommodations were great, the room/suite was spotless, and the staff were very friendly.

If you're looking for a winemaking family who is passionate about the details - down to the genetics and ancestors of their grapes - then look no further! We would have loved a tour, but they were booked for the day (go early to make sure you get a spot!), but the tasting was a great second option! For $15 you try six wines from their very large list. They'll teach you about each one too. If you like bourbons or whiskey, I'd highly recommend their Cream Sherry - it won 12th best American wine at the Decanter Wold Wine Competition (The world's largest and most influential wine competition) in recent years (just enjoy slowly - it's 19%!!). Also, they make their wines very affordable! From $11-$40, everything is in reach! (They do have a $75 reserve Norton on the list as of May 2026.) You can enjoy the restaurant on site, shop alllll the wine accessories, relax on their patio above the hills of vines, play a game of corn hole, and pose for a few photos. They've been continuously farming (taking a break from wine only during prohibition) for 179 years! You won't regret a visit if you enjoy wine!

Several other couples who arrived around the same time were welcomed immediately, but we were left standing there without any acknowledgment. It was uncomfortable and made us feel overlooked in a way no quest should experience. I can't say why we were treated differently, but the contrast was hard to ignore. Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time!

We had a party of 12 and we were told we'd be sat at different tables, no big deal. 8 of our party went to one table and the other 4 sat at a table catty corner to our party. We had separate waiters which I think was maybe their first mistake. Both tables ordered drinks and appetizers that came fast and were delicious....then things quickly fell apart. We were one of the first few tables seated. Our other parties tables food came out and us 4 at the other table was still waiting. We continued to wait while every table that came in after us starts getting their meals. Finally the table behind us that came in 30 min after us got their meals, we asked the waitress if she could check on our food? She came back and said it was "being plated." We wait a solid 30 more min and by this time our other parties table had eaten and were paying and we still did not have our food. Asked the waitress again who said they were waiting on mashed potatoes. We got up to check with the manager who was bartending who never once apologized or stopped to check on what was going on and only said "we got swamped." Which was a crazy excuse considering we were one of the first tables to order. Since the manager refused to help at all we talked to the hostess who was seating people and may have been the asst manager. She checked on our food and told us "there was a problem with the pesto." When our food came out my daughter mushroom and Swiss burger was charred to a crisp and hard. Finally the assistant manager took our meals off of our tickets. It was a frustrating experience for our first visit there and didn't leave a great impression. The food (minus my daughter's burger) and drinks were really good. I'm not sure where the disconnect happened but the managers poor excuse and the way he completely ignored us and the situation was pretty poor customer service. We come to Hermann every year and this year had brought people who had never been before. Sad they didn't get an enjoyable experience and my daughter didn't even get a meal.

This is by FAR the best B&B we've ever experienced, because the Captain Wohlt Inn offers much, much more than just "bed" and "breakfast," even though the beds are high quality and the breakfast is amazing! (Forget your continental breakfast -- at the Captain Wohlt, a giant, chef-prepared breakfast arrives each morning, hot and fragrant!) The properties and the rooms are beautiful and modern, even though you'll be staying in houses that are well over 100 years old. The owner thought of EVERYTHING you can possibly need. Going to the wineries? Corkscrew in your room. Looks like rain? Large umbrellas are there too. Forgot your hair dryer? No worries. There's one in your spa bathroom. All the amenities of a luxury hotel without the upcharges. You can have as much or as little of the Captain Wohlt experience as you want. If the Hermann night life isn't for you, there's a beautiful wine garden right on the Captain Wohlt property where you can enjoy live music on the weekends and special treats from Brant the owner. (We had s'mores, and live music from Barak Hill, who also brought along some of his beautiful art pottery to share with guests!) If it gets chilly in the evening, Brant (who literally seems to work 24/7) will cover you in a cozy blanket. The Captain Wohlt Inn has to be the best value in Hermann (maybe in all of Missouri, for that matter). The breakfast alone is worth the price of admission -- not sure how Brant can provide so much quality for so little money, but he's doing everything right. I would give ten stars if I could. Oh, and you know those people who go around to hotels with their little black lights, looking for stains and other suspicious anomalies? I'm that person. Nothing at all to see at the Captain Wohlt. Our room looked like we were the first people ever to stay there. Never had that happen before!
