We went to the island for a quick trip with family. It was almost 2 pm and we were hungry. Initially, I put in for a table at the Pink Pony but that wait was ridiculous, almost 2 hours for a table for 6. So we went down to the pub and luckily we were able to get a table right away. I should note, we also chose this pub because it had Gluten Free options and we had someone with us who could only eat Gluten Free. We were provided water fairly quickly, but to order took a little bit, about 20 minutes. I would say there were only two waitstaff working on a busy afternoon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The pub is kind of small, with seating at the bar, along the sides and then two high top tables in the middle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we ordered our food didn't take too long to get. I ordered a Reuben, and got the vinegar coleslaw. Rueben was good, I wouldn't say great for being an Irish Pub. The coleslaw was actually cream based so based on the menu saying vinegar I was a bit surprised. Two others ordered hamburgers which they said were just ok. My family and I grabbed dinner tonight at Doud's and had a really great meal! We loved the decor although the people sitting at the bar were pretty loud. Our server was awesome and so sweet! She was always checking on us and even gave us to-go cups when we left! All of our meals were delicious! I got the fish sandwich with chips and Bleu cheese cole slaw which was amazing! The kids got the chicken fingers with fries and the other got the Doud's House Burger and they both gave their meals a 9/10. My wife got a chopped Bleu cheese salad and she said it was OK, but hey, it's a salad... And a half portion at that. Overall, we'd definitely recommend checking it out! read more

Best meal I had on the island, and that includes a few of the fancier spots. I went in with pretty modest expectations, since restaurants in heavy tourist areas don't always have to impress (a new boatload of visitors shows up every day). But this place completely delivered. One of the better Guinnesses I've had in awhile, the stew was one of the worst. Most of the carrots and potatoes weren't cooked thoroughly, only one of each seemed cooked all the way through. Fun Bar, good food. Service is a little slow but it's by the ferry and was slammed. Grandson had seafood chowder and chicken wings, chowder was awesome, wings nothing special. Brynn was our server and while bubbly and smiling, she was evidently too busy as it took 10 minutes with an almost empty set of tables to get water. Then it was another 10 minutes to get our order. Another ten minutes before my drink came. Onion soup was basically broth with some melted cheese, one small piece of bread, and around a dozen small slivers of onions. I kid you not, the entire bowl was more than 80% broth. Bangers and mash was good, as were the chicken tenders and fries. Hendrick's and tonic is always hard to mess up but served with a lemon wedge rather than lime? It was tasty nonetheless. Overall, overpriced for the speed of service and quality of food, even by Island standards. I brought the soup up to the waitress and she was short and stated, "I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations but that it is a broth and that's the way it comes." If you love pubs, this one is a winner! I've been to Irish Pubs in many different states, and across Western Ireland. This one feels right, although it's not been around long. The interior looks perfect, with nods to "chunky" Irish workmanship. The food is authentic and delicious. We had chowder, fish n chips, and bangers n mash. All were good enough to write home about, and could stand up to any other Irish pub. The service also was great. Lots of smiling faces bringing beer. And speaking of beer, this place has Kilkenny Cream Ale, which is nearly impossible to find in the 'States (and nearly impossible to find in Ireland, for that matter). I can't recommend this place enough. The wife and I are already discussing our next trip to the Island.... So that we can go back to "the Pub"! read more
