Salad 4/5, overdressed but all the elements worked together. French dip was OK, 3/5. What really stole the show here was the fried whitefish, the tartar sauce was excellent and paired perfectly. The fries were also golden perfection. My partner and I ended up eating the whole plate. This is the item to order if you come here - easily 5/5. Beware very popular with no reservations - recommend arriving promptly at 5:00 to put your name in or you'll have to wait. There is almost always a wait to get seated so get there early to get your reservation in. They will text you when your table is ready. Today, I had the Apple, Brie, and Walnut Flatbread and Boneless Chicken Wings with Mild Buffalo sauce. I typically order a salad with the flatbread but trying to be cautious right now with the lettuce issues. I rave about this flatbread - it has never disappointed. The taste is so good combined with the honey drizzle on top. The Wings were good - fried perfectly - and the Buffalo sauce complemented them nicely. If you love the song Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan, this might be at the top of your list of places to check out on Mackinac Island. It's also well known for their outdoor seating. I was hoping to get a seat outside on the patio by the water, but it was a 90 minute wait, so Nate and I just grabbed a spot on the rail near the bar. The bar is very pink and fun. They're known for their rum runners, but I wanted something less sweet so I opted for a spritz. They have plenty of beer on tap and a full food menu, but we had just eaten. There is even a tiny stage behind the bar. I'm glad we got to stop by the iconic Pink Pony and might try to go again the next time I'm on the island. read more

We came here for lunch and were told an hour and 15 minute wait. We only waited about 45 minutes. We were seated on the upper patio and got a lovely table right near the balcony that overlooks the water. I ordered the rum runner and husband ordered the spicy margarita and we both enjoyed our drinks. I ordered the chicken BLT with no lettuce and it came with a little piece of lettuce like it was on there and got pulled off (which is annoying when we are avoiding lettuce right now). The chips that came with them were pretty good, but fried a little darker than I like my chips. Husband ordered the fish tacos and enjoyed them but said they would have been better with a fried fish. Pink Pony was poppin' when we visited in October, at the end of the tourist season. It felt like everyone on the island was at the restaurant, but amazingly, we were seated relatively quickly and were served quickly. There's something about being near water that makes a person feel like eating fish. So that's what I got: I ordered the Chippewa Broiled Whitefish, which was served with rice and vegetables. This dish was the way to go! It was light but satisfying, and although the fish is broiled in a white wine and lemon butter sauce, it wasn't too saucy. The fish was just saucy enough. Our table also got the Beer Battered Whitefish & Chips. The fries here are really good! I tasted a little of the battered fish, and it was nicely fried. I don't usually drink sweet, fruity alcoholic beverages, but Pink Pony has a signature drink: the Rum Runner. It's bright pink and frosty. I thought, what the heck! Let's get one. It was just as sweet as I imagined it would be, and it gave me a brain freeze, and it tasted like a liquid SweeTart. I'm glad I tried it, but it's a novelty, and it barely gave me a buzz. This restaurant is very kid-friendly, and they have a pretty large kids' menu, with breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings. My kids got burgers, which come with fries and choice of a beverage. Pink Pony is attached to a hotel (Chippewa Hotel Waterfront), so this kind of serves as the hotel's in-house restaurant, and they serve a sit-down breakfast. There's also a bar, so you can duck in and enjoy a drink. The bar had a TV playing some sort of sport. Of course, there's a Pink Pony gift shop, with all kinds of pink paraphernalia, like sweatshirts that say Pink Pony Club, unicorn stuffed animals, mugs, candles and all kinds of pink things. Don't think you won't walk out of this place without the song "Pink Pony Club" stuck in your head, because you definitely will. read more

I brought my mother here for Mother's Day, and I'm really glad I did. Our waiter was very friendly and greeted us with a smile every time he came to the table. He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting. read more

While the music is pretty loud in the bar area, he only plays two or three songs and then you have a decent DJ type scenario, which was perfect. Service was very friendly, I ordered the whitefish tacos and they were excellent! Hubby ordered the surf and turf and was gracious enough to share the grilled white fish with me as well. Athe sauce was a mix of a new Mexican red chili with lemon and was absolutely perfect for this grilled fish. I will crave this for quite some time. While it's pricey, you are paying for the ambience and the fact that you made it to Mackinac island after a long day of travel. After our tour of Fort Mackinac, this was our first time here with my family of seven including three adults and three young children for lunch. Reservations are not allowed. We were lucky to get a spot on the wait list. The Pink Pony is rated one of America's 10 best restaurants for outdoor dining. The Pink Pony was also rated #1 on Yelp so I was happy. The Pink Pony restaurant is located behind the Chippewa Hotel. The bar is located off the hotel lobby. The restaurant is located behind the hotel overlooking the water. We were seated at a nice table on the upper deck overlooking the water. I started with the Famous Island Rum Runner with a specialty blend of premium rum & tropical juices for $16. I ordered it for an additional $16 or $32 total so that my Rum Runner was served in their iconic Pink Pony souvenir plastic tumbler. I was disappointed that the iconic Pink Pony souvenir plastic tumbler was made of plastic rather than glass. The plastic tumbler was not worth the extra cost. I prefer a glass tumbler. Our waitress Katherine W. arranged a brand new clean plastic tumbler in a Pink Pony branded bag. I didn't have to go to the bathroom to wash my used tumbler. I enjoyed my gourmet patty melt with medium rare grilled ground sirloin smothered with caramelized onions and mushrooms, topped with baby swiss cheese, pickle chips and Dijon mustard spread, served on grilled marble rye bread for $19. We have relied on a service dog for the past 14 years and have dined at countless restaurants. We have never experienced anything like this. After we were asked about our service dog, we felt like we were under constant scrutiny. The hostess repeatedly stared at our table to the point that it became uncomfortable enough that my daughter wanted to leave. When I politely asked if she needed something, her response was, "Am I not allowed to look where I want?" We had already ordered appetizers, drinks, and our entrées. Within minutes of our meals being served, we were told we had to leave. I explained that if they had asked us to leave before our meals arrived, we would have done so without hesitation. I simply asked that they remove the meals we hadn't had the opportunity to eat. They refused, escorted us out, and we left without being able to eat the meals we had just been served. I can't say for certain why our family was treated this way, but after 14 years with a service dog, we have never felt so singled out or unwelcome. I also can't ignore that my son-in-law is Black, and the overall experience left me wondering whether that played a role. I sincerely hope it didn't, but that's how the situation felt to our family. We left feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable, and incredibly disappointed. I hope no other family has to experience what we did. read more

Absolutely Unacceptable, Humiliating, and Deeply Disrespectful Experience From the moment we walked in, it was immediately clear we were not going to be treated like normal paying customers. The entire experience felt hostile, judgmental, and centered around the fact that we had a service animal with us. Instead of being treated with basic courtesy, we were singled out, scrutinized, and made to feel like we did not belong there at all. For clarity, the ADA only allows very limited questions regarding service animals when their purpose is not obvious. Staff are not permitted to interrogate guests, demand proof, or treat anyone differently because they are accompanied by a service animal. Regardless of what they claim their intentions were, the way we were handled felt invasive, excessive, and honestly crossed into what felt like discriminatory treatment. We were not treated like guests -- we were treated like a problem to be managed. The issues started long before we even sat down. We placed our name on the waitlist and were told it would be about an hour and a half. We returned after waiting the full time only to be told, casually and without real apology, that our table had been given away. We were then told they "tried to text us," but of course no message was ever actually received. It felt careless and dismissive, as if our time meant nothing. After all of that, we were finally seated outside -- exactly where we had originally requested -- making the entire delay even more frustrating and unnecessary. Things only got worse from there. Roughly 30 minutes into our meal, after we had already been served and were finally trying to relax, we were told we had to leave. Being asked to get up and leave in the middle of eating after everything that had already happened was not just embarrassing -- it was humiliating. It felt like we were being pushed out rather than served, and it was impossible not to feel singled out and unwelcome. Throughout the entire visit, the attitude toward us felt cold, unwelcoming, and at times openly dismissive. Whether intentional or not, the way we were treated gave the strong impression that having a service animal made us less desirable customers. It felt like we were being constantly watched and judged instead of served. To make matters worse, the food was extremely underwhelming. The portions were small, the quality did not match the price at all, and nothing about the meal came close to justifying the stress, delay, and outright disrespect we experienced. This was, without exaggeration, the worst dining experience we have ever had on Mackinac Island. The combination of poor organization, lack of accountability, and the way we were treated as guests made the entire visit feel degrading. At minimum, staff need serious training on how to properly and respectfully interact with guests who have service animals, because what we experienced felt far from acceptable and honestly bordered on discriminatory in how we were singled out and handled. We will absolutely not be returning, and we would strongly warn others -- especially anyone with a disability or service animal -- to think twice before dining here. read more
