We were a party of four, it took a minute for the waitress come to get our drink order, but after that she was very attentive. Drinks were always refilled and salads were brought out right away. Hands down the best breakfast I've ever had at a restaurant, without question. Delicious scrambled eggs. I figured they're all created equal. I was wrong. SO good. And the bacon is real bacon, not that cheap papier-mâché stuff other restaurants try to pass off Very quick service and always kept the water and coffee full. It's a very up-northy restaurant with animals on the walls, a little corner bar for the waitstaff station, old school tables and chairs with the requisite smattering of old folks eating there. Our group ordered a pizza which by all accounts was excellent. I ordered a gyro and was amazed. I've eaten a lot of gyros in my time, in Detroit and Greece itself. This was probably the best gyro I have ever eaten. In Lewiston, MI. Only improvement would have been to slice the tomato and onion instead of cubing them. Best tzatziki I think I have ever had, gyro meat was excellent and the pita was warmed/cooked to the perfect slight crispiness on the outside with the inside staying nice and soft. Horrible staff rude staff the rude sign at the door should've warned us before we even entered There is it bright pink neon piece of paper and huge black thick writing that aggressively said "read the sign" with about 13 arrows pointing down to a white piece of paper with very small print that said cash only first of all if you're that aggressive about making sure people know your cash only maybe you should've written it on the bright piece of paper Mind you we called first to make sure the restaurant is open because of COVID-19 a lot of places are closed when she answered the phone she could've told us that they were cash only but they didn't So after finding an ATM getting cash and returning to the restaurant she tried to put us at a table between two packed tables. we said is it OK if we sit somewhere else were trying to social distance? she laughed and said then go sit in the corner so we walked out And the rude people laughed as we left! read more

I've gone to the Iron Kettle every couple years since I was a kid and while I don't think I really noticed much about the restaurant back then, today I did. We had great service, AMAZING CHILI, and good coffee, but the fried chicken was completely FLAVORLESS, unless you count frying oil as a flavor. The menu boasted a special seasoned batter but there was no flavoring to be found. My boyfriend had the KING OF CLUBS and the lettuce was wilted and bread was soggy. Good HOT CHOCOLATE tho. With other similar options so close by, I won't be returning again unless it's specifically for the chili. read more

My first concern was that our waitress was not utilizing a mask during service. In fact, many staff did not have masks on, and if they did, it was not being worn properly. Staff stands above us and speaks which means respiratory droplets are constantly contacting our food/drink as they speak. We sat at about 11:30 and food was not out to our table until about 12:50. I witnessed our waitress update other tables on kitchen progress and never came around to us. There were tables who sat after we did who also got food before us. Once the food was finally out, it looked okay. I am convinced the mushrooms in my omelette were canned, not fresh, due to the texture/color, but it was edible. I was expecting phenomenal food for the amount of time we waited there. I understand it is COVID, but the restaurant needs to re-evaluate how they are running during this time. I shouldn't be sitting 3 feet away from several other guests either. Running the restaurant at this capacity with such few staff is just setting up the present staff up for failure. It was not an enjoyable experience and things absolutely need to change. This is the new normal and adjustments need to be made accordingly to ensure that the dining experience is still enjoyable and that the food/wait is worth the money. Always seem to be hiring a cook. Big turnover when it comes to waitresses. Bathrooms always dirty. Pizza is the best in town. Other dishes seem to have been cheapened up. Salad bar always short on food or not fresh. Lawn not cut and weeds are almost as high as the sign out front. Definitely need to do some changes inside and out. read more

Rating for restaurants around Lewiston. They are under serviced and it takes a long time for your waitress to come and talk to you, but if you have time to kill I would recommend it, as the food is good. we had the Reuben, gyro and the French onion soup they were all very good and I would recommend. The bloody Mary's are very strong so get ready to feel little buzz after you drink one. read more

My husband and I came here for breakfast a few weeks back and walked out feeling torn about basically everything! I ordered eggs and hash browns and instead of toast wanted to replace with a pancake but they refused to swap out so paid extra! Our waitress in question wasn't very nice and that morning it wasn't too busy so not sure if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or she is just an unhappy person. The eggs and hash browns tasted like eggs and hash browns so I guess that's a plus! They brought out my additional costing pancake (yep just one) and it was about the size of my head and was put on a plate about the size of my hand so needless to say it became a mess so after a bites just gave up! I do know it was microwaved before being brought to me because it was rubbery and not easy to cut with a knife! If you go, I would suggest skipping the pancakes or what should be referred to as the oversized overpriced McDonald's pancake! I won't be back but if you dare to go, just hope and pray your server took her happy pills that day! read more

The Iron Kettle could have been a nice place for Sunday brunch, but it was exceptionally under-staffed when I visited, which ruined the experience. I visited last Sunday (4/30/17) at about 11:30 or so, a time when most diners are busy and well-managed. Despite being relatively empty at that time (it picked up a bit later), the two front-of-the-house staff were clearly very overwhelmed and unable to manage table service in combination with cleaning, answering the phone, hosting, making fresh coffee, and expo-ing/running food. Not their fault they were over-tasked, but...seriously...the service was unacceptable, even for a diner. We waited a long time at the front to be seated until one of the servers just yelled across the restaurant, "Just seat yourself." We did and waited several minutes to receive menus, even though there were only around 6 total tables in the restaurant at the time. Shortly thereafter, a larger party of about 8-10 elderly folks came in and that's when table service effectively stopped for everyone in the restaurant. At one point, one of the elderly women (75+ years old) got up, got the coffee pot from the server's station, and started filling up coffee for her table and other diners (including me). (We offered to help, but she said it was fine.) After finishing our food (and being without beverages for a long time), we waited patiently for 10-15 minutes for our check before getting up to find a server and ask for the check and a box. (She was busy cleaning a table and sort of just blankly nodded at me before continuing to clean?!) Once we eventually got the check (I believe we had to ask again, and got it from the other server), we stood at the front to pay the bill for a while, and at that point we were in a serious hurry to leave because my dad had just died that morning and we had to get home, having been there way longer than we'd ever expected. The food was perfectly fine (would recommend the gyro), but the poor service greatly detracted from what was supposed to be a comfort meal over the loss of a loved one. The restaurant could be a total gem with a few improvements in staffing and cleanliness and I hope the owner will consider staffing more appropriately in the future. (Alternately, it's possible the poor staffing was beyond their control, who knows?!) I left a 10% tip and - speaking as someone with 12+ years in the restaurant industry - it was, unfortunately, generous proportionate to the service we received. read more

I cannot believe this review of MM from flushing. My family and myself frequent the Iron Kettle in Lewiston every time we go to town, We always get excellent service with a smile. On one occasion I left my purse at this restaurant, every thing i owned was in it, a large amount of cash along with credit cards, keys and pieces of jewelry. The restaurant owner and staff, looked in my purse to find information to locate me. after finding my address searched on the Internet for a phone number. I was amazed when we got home a phone message was waiting for us. Your purse is at the Kettle. I immediately called because I thought It had fallen out of the car in a rest area. Every thing was there nothing missing.......5 stars and thumbs up to this establishment, as far as food quality, service, honesty and integrity. I am sure if this woman's jacket was there she would have gotten it back, she must have been mistaken. read more

Ate at the Iron Kettle leaving a golf outing at Garland in September. Although the food was fine, the service was somewhat slow and all of the wait staff seemed almost put out if you asked for something that wasn't served or provided at the table. After arriving home, we discovered my husband's jacket was missing. Called Garland, no luck. Called the Iron Kettle and within 2 minutes of my call, someone called back and informed me that they had the jacket. Described it perfectly down to size, material and logo on the left top of the jacket. It was a specific logo (not a brand) so I knew they definitely had the right one. Put me through to a manager and I offered to pay for postage to mail it back to me. She said, "Don't worry, just eat with us next time you are in the area". A week went by, no jacket. Another week, no jacket so I called. Was informed the manager was out sick and it would be taken care of. Another week, no jacket. This time when I called, they said they would leave a message with the manager. No call back, no jacket. Another few days, I call again. An employee (not sure if a waitstaff person or who?) said, upon hearing my name "Oh, the jacket lady" and said she would again leave Karen a message. After I became upset and finally hung up, the night manager Kari called me back. Said she would check into the incident and let me know. Callled back and said she couldn't find the jacket, so if they didn't what could they do. After all it was our fault we left it there in the first place, really not their problem that they couldn't locate it now (4 weeks after my first call). I called one more time and spoke to another employee who eventually hung up on me. I tried calling back after the hangup and they just would pick up the phone and immediately hang up again. After the fourth try, John answered and when I asked his position, he stated he was the owner and had just walked in the door. I explained the situation and my frustration and he promised to look into it and call me back. Never happened. I now understand the less than welcoming atmosphere from the waitstaff during our initial meal at this restaurant. Customer service is not a priority from the owner down, so substandard must be ok for their customers. I am upset that I never got my jacket back but even more upset that they never would even admit that they had it and due to their lack of action, the jacket went missing. I am sure that someone is now wearing that jacket, be it an employee, or another customer who took it from the restaurant. I will be back to Garland, however I will give the Iron Kettle a pass. I don't mind paying for what I receive and tipping generously for service given, but I wouldn't give another dime to this restaurant. I will also share my experience with anyone asking me about Garland and the Lewiston area. I praise when it is warranted and do the opposite when that type of feedback is earned. read more
