Mike's team -- Igor and his brother -- were so positive. They saw every challenge as an opportunity to make the project better. The crew sanded the entire floor three times with finer grits each time, making for a very smooth surface to stain and finish. The stain was furniture-grade, as was the final finish. Let me explain that this was our second attempt to refinish our hardwoods floors. Originally, we went with another company recommended by a neighbor. The estimate was cheaper, and we thought we could save a few bucks. Boy did we make a mistake. We were out of our house for a week, returning only to find a sub-standard job with damage to our house. We were heartbroken, and it was a costly mistake not to go with M.S. Construction Services first. Don't make the same mistake we did -- hire these guys first. When we contacted Mike, he was out of the country, but responded quickly and scheduled his crew for the very next week. They moved all the furniture carefully, and they pulled off all the old shoe-moldings. Then they spent most of the first two days meticulously sanding our entire main level. Then they applied the stain, and this is where the artistry comes in. Igor used a special technique to get the grain of the existing boards to absorb the stain in a way that makes it darker than the surrounding wood -- it really 'pops' and makes the original floors look very high-grade. They not only fixed all the problems created by the previous contractor, M.S. Construction Services came up with elegant solutions to things that had bothered us since we bought the house years ago. Igor carefully carved out a thin layer of the base of our kitchen cabinets to slide the floor register underneath it. It looks so good! I can't stress enough the attention to detail. The shoe moldings they use are high grade, and they cut them to exacting measurements for a perfect fit. They also nail them tight to the wall so little if any caulk is necessary between the two. We wake up every morning and just marvel at the workmanship and the artistry. These are good people who really take pride in their work. We even accidentally overpaid on the final check -- Mike caught it, told us, and allowed us to write a new check for the lower amount. That is integrity. Bottom line: don't hire anyone else, even if you think you might save a little money. You'll regret not going with M.S. Construction Services. We got more than our money's worth!

I also have to hand it to BJ who did the installations. We spread this project over 3 orders a couple weeks apart to take time figuring out what we needed. Each time, BJ was thorough, thoughtful, and fast. We have black windows throughout the house, which is new for us and made design selections a little trickier, but the results are outstanding. Wil and team went above and beyond to get the colors exactly right and ensure everything was measured and designed to spec for each window. There are way more decisions to make than you realize, so having someone knowledgeable to walk us through the options made all the difference. The results speak for themselves. I wish the photos did them justice! They're even better in person. We went with white 2-inch faux wood blinds (they look awesome with the black windows!), sheer black solar roller shades, and extra-large wood plantation shutters custom painted to match the window trim. He knows his stuff and helped guide us through the whole process. His prices were also very fair and appropriate when compared to many of the other vendors we received quotes from. We had our basement floor, main floor and upstairs floor replaced with MSPC. We had two flights of stairs done with hardwood + stain. We also had our wooden balusters replaced with iron ones. Jason and his team replaced existing hardwood flooring and removed carpet and replaced with hardwood flooring. It started out as one project, but ended up being some additional needed projects. Jason is not only the owner but a great project manager. He presented options to us and let us make the best decision for us. While he gave his opinion, he was not pushy or overbearing. He engaged the right people to do the work and oversaw each project. He always kept us in the loop of what was going on and worked around our schedule to get the work done. Even when the project was done, he noticed one area that was not to his liking and had the work redone. We'd noticed it too, but he was proactive and took action before we had to say anything. Kudos to one of the workers on his team, Giacomo. Giacomo was the master craftsman who redid our stairs and custom designed and built a new awning for us. The awning was not a planned project, but came about as Jason aimed to solve an ongoing issue we had with water damage at the entry way. The work Giacomo did was top notch. His attention to detail is admirable. He is truly dedicated to his job and does excellent work.
