My husband and I came here for their romantic couples' night, as we have many times. We ordered the 4-course meal. Within two hours of finishing dinner, my husband experienced a sudden, violent episode of food poisoning. Based on the rapid onset and the specific dishes, we suspect the stuffed zucchini blossoms were unfortunately temperature-abused during prep. While I am glad he recovered quickly, I am incredibly disappointed by how management handled my phone call. When I privately shared what happened, the chef was completely dismissive, using the excuse that 'no one else complained' rather than showing any basic customer empathy or somehow encourage us to feel good about returning to one of our favorite places in Port St. Joe. We love the food here and were not looking to cause trouble--just hoping for a responsible business to care about a loyal guest's safety and offer a gesture to win back our confidence. I was planning to get spinach-stuffed shells off of the regular menu, but my eye caught the daily specials and saw that they had an Italian wedding soup (turkey soup with spinach and carrots and such). It was made with a roasted turkey and fresh vegetable vegetables and was delicious. They also brought out some crusty bread. Normally, I ask for butter, but the olive oil with spices that they sat on the table was so good and unlike anything I've ever had before. Evidently it's a secret recipe, a little like a chimichurri sauce. Update: As a local we love supporting small businesses. The1st time we dined here was the beginning of December. It was fabulous, Mindy was our server and she was excellent. We immediately made reservations for the following week for my birthday and again reservations for NYE. Giving only 1 star due to our recent experiences regarding our reservations. Unfortunately twice within a month, although we made reservations WHILE dining here...Dec 10th and NYE, they couldn't find our reservation. We were able to be seated on the 10th but left on NYE after standing there in the middle of the dining room while 3 people looked at a seating chart like our reservation would magically appear. Once forgivable but twice within a month is really irritating. We said forget it and walked out. We went down the street and dined elsewhere. We really wanted the Italian Kitchen to be our to go place for finer dining. They have good food and service... with the exception of not being able to count on your reservation being held. I'd call and confirm before you show up so you can make back up plans. It will be hard for me to want to go back anytime soon sadly. read more

For an Italian restaurant, that was literally the worst pizza I've ever had. Worse than Costco, worse than Papa John's, worse than Hungry Howies. The crust was dense, and thick like it was a pre made crust from the store. Do not buy there pizza. Stay far far away. read more

Placed an order for a tiramisu tray for 8-12 people for $85 we were very excited to try this because of all the reviews. When we went to try the tiramisu was old and expired. I believe that they put all the weeks leftovers in a tray and called it a day. Unfortunately we picked up for dinner on Saturday and when the entire family went to dig in we realized it was sour and expired. Worst of all it was on a Saturday afternoon and don't open up again until Monday. My sister will try to reach out to get a refund because $85 for sour tiramisu is not right. read more

We had dinner at the Italian Kitchen Supper Club. A small quaint place next to the pizza place. The area is small, but decorated beautifully. It is BYOB. We went to CVS and bought a lovely bottle of wine to accompany our meal. It was hard to pick an entree since they all sounded delicious. My husband settled for the chicken Parmesan. A huge portion of chicken with pasta. So good. I had the spinach stuffed shells. Again a large portion. Very tasty. I don't think there is a bad choice on the menu. Our server was attentive and friendly. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. Ended with an Almond Joy cannoli. As snowbirds we have tried most of the restaurants in the area. This is right at the top. Will definitely be going back. read more

Let me begin by revealing that the two of us who went to the Italian Kitchen are chefs, and our critique is from being in the profession for decades. First, the server brought out fresh, warm Italian bread with an excellent olive oil dipping sauce. Then it went downhill. The salad, was presented with the "house dressing" . Alas, it was sugar-sweet and from a bottle. It was NOT homemade. It got worse- much worse.: We had both selected their Chicken Marsala. Alas, it was a heap of pasta, smothered in a sauce with enough garlic to kill an ox. The sauce itself was NOT homemade, but undoubtedly was a can of condensed creme of chicken soup. In this weird sauce, there was NO marsala wine, period! HUH?! Neither of us ate the main course. We complained, and I will say they took off the charge for the dinners. (There are two buildings separated by a parking lot- one does takeout and delivery. They make the pizzas there. The other is sit down service.) While the deep dish looked good, we ordered pasta. We live full time in a neighboring town and have visited the restaurant at least a dozen times over the past couple of years. We always bring out of town guests here. The food is good, although it's American Italian, not really like authentic regional italian cuisine. The ambiance is good and we really appreciate the white tablecloth setting. I've never posted a review of this or any other restaurant but I was so disappointed by our last visit...with friends to whom we'd really raised expectations...that I feel compelled to mention our experience. From the beginning the restaurant has offered corkage at no charge. That is, since there was no wine list patrons were invited to bring their own bottles at no charge. That was a very nice and appreciated feature. (In fact, newcomers were always encouraged to go to the store across the street and bring a bottle back to the restaurant. That as great! I was really impressed by that on our first visit.). Apparently this had changed since our previous visit. As we walked in with two bottles of wine in a carrier, we were shouted at from the cash register station, "We don't do that any more!" That did not get us off to a good start. Would it have been too much trouble to approach our table after we were seated and politely explain the new policy? We were offered no alternatives such as, "Since you weren't aware that our policy has changed, we would like to offer you a substantial discount on this evening's wine purchase." Is simple hospitality too difficult? Sure enough, there's a wine list now..no problem with that...but in my opinion it's over priced and the selection is limited. Neither the price nor the range of wines is really appropriate to the venue. When we returned home I checked, and there was no mention of the change in corkage policy on the web site nor was the wine list published. Really, if we'd been treated with a little more respect and more willingness to accommodate us on the corkage issue I wouldn't even be writing this. The food was acceptable but unremarkable, so not much to say about that. read more

Omg! We decided to try this gem after reading the reviews. We are very picky of Italian Food but this did not disappoint one bit. From the warm bread and oil to begin with. The yummy Caesar salad that had homemade dressing that had a hint of lemon! So good!! And then the delicious lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs! We asked to try the marinara and the bolognese and they were both outstanding. Sometimes the bolognese seems too heavy for us but it was so good! Then we topped it off with a lemon cannoli. First time here. Came in for the Thursday couples dinner. A four course meal. Flatbread appetizer, salad, Italian pot roast with garlic mashed potatoes and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was amazing. Who gets pot roast at an Italian restaurant right? It was the BEST POT ROAST I EVER HAD! So tender it melted in my mouth. Very quant place. We ordered a large NY style pizza, 2 blackened chicken Alfredo's, a chicken Marsala, a Caesar salad, and a kids meal spaghetti. The crust on the pizza looked and tasted like a Papa John's pizza kit crust and the Marsala was piled with mushrooms (see photos) and the sauce was only slightly different than the Alfredo sauce on the other entrees. The dressing on the Caesar salad was a paste that had to be smeared across the salad and did not meaningfully add to the taste of the salad. Scott and his team served up an amazing dinner to our family. We'd had the takeaway pizza numerous times and my favorite is the deep dish, but the sit down side of the restaurant was warm and modern, the Vespa an over the top touch, and the food was AT LEAST as good if not BETTER than anything I've had in restaurants in Boston's North End or other high end Italian restaurants. The homemade cheese sticks, stuffed mushrooms, and meatballs with no fillers blew us away to start. We had chicken and eggplant parmigiana and several pizzas for the rest.
