We were a party of 15 to celebrate the First Birthday of my great grandson. Also included was 2 great grand daughters . The J House staff really know how to take care of you at their restaurant . We ordered chicken nuggets and pasta with butter for the little ones. Several of us ordered the lobster bisque when we heard it as the speciall soup of the day. Others ordered flat bread pizza as appetizers. For my entree I ordered Caesar salad with chicken. All different lunch items were ordered by my family. Before they brought the Lobster bisque they gave us hot plates and told us not to touch the plates. A server came out with a pot and poured the lobster bisque into the hot plates.. Wow. It was not only delicious but extremely hot the entire time while having the soup. My Caesar salad was topped with a biscuit rather than croutons and an abundance of chicken. I really enjoyed it as did my family enjoying their meals. The cappuccino was over the top. I used a spoon to scoop the creamy foam off the top. Wow again! Booked a last minute stay here for the July 4th weekend - what an excellent decision this was. Staff were excellent across the board, room as superb with some wonderful technical quirks (great toilet seat for a start). Some really cool activities (short massage by the pool, free ice cream truck visit to name a couple) and close to all of Greenwich's attractions. Would highly recommend the J House - Catharine, Ailin, Abraham and the CEO Janice were all fantastic. We also had our service dog with us - no issues whatsoever with her staying. I hosted my 30th birthday experience at The J House Greenwich and the pictures attached do it no justice. After having brunch at Tony's (the restaurant at the J House), I fell in love with the food and the atmosphere of the venue. I immediately began working with the Event Coordinator in March to host my event for May. Before I dive into the rest of the review, this was the breakdown of my event: -Location: Putnam Room -Time: 7-11pm -Food: 3 course plated dinner -Drinks: Standard 3hr open bar -Party size: 48 people The above was the hard part. Once that was situated, I was able to organize everything else. I was allowed to bring in a DJ, a photographer and a photobooth for my event. The venue also waived the cake cutting fee and a few other add-ons for me. I met and communicated with the Event Coordinator frequently and although there were plenty of bumps along the way, the execution of my event was flawless. My friends and I set up the day before and there was really no limit on what I was allowed to do. I had a vision and was able to bring it to fruition. I decorated and set up the venue myself. The decor was all me, not the venue itself just as an FYI! On the day of the event, my guests began to arrive around 6pm and were offered valet parking. They waited in the foyer area until the doors of the room were open. During the wait, the bar was open and folks were able to mingle. The staff already had the meal selections of each guest and they were FLAWLESSSSSS in how they executed the delivery of the food the entire night. Till today, I am so amazed at how wonderful the staff was!!!! My guests still rave about the food and the staff. The saddest part for me was when the event ended. I had such an amazing time and would recommend the J House to everyone. We also stayed overnight at the hotel as they blocked off 10 rooms for me and my guests. The rooms were immaculate and service was beyond what I expected. Can't wait to host another event here!!! read more

My friends and I had an 8 pm reservation. We got there early and while there were empty tables, we were told they were waiting for tables to get up. We got some drinks at the bar that we requested weren't sweetened. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal. We were then seated nearly a half hour after the reservation time. My group and I ordered sushi and requested no crunch/gluten free - which is exactly what came to the table. Once they redid the order, the sushi was really good. The service wasn't great, super slow. I came in thinking that the J House had a good reputation- while this may be the case, I was really disappointed. Needless to say, I'm not itching to return anytime time soon. read more

I travel to Stamford for business and I always stay here. How this doesn't have 5-stars across the board is beyond me. It's top notch for technologically savvy, but in a user-friendly way, with normal buttons as well for the less tech-saavy. And I love the high-tech toilet that warms the seat, opens and closes and flushes on its own. You can control pretty much everything (not the toilet ;)) from the comfort of the bed. The rooms are a really nice size, very clean and modern. The restaurant is delicious, not inexpensive, but well worth it for good food. The outdoor area with the lovely bar and lounge area is a great hangout spot. The lobby has a bunch of seating areas even with TV if you have a group wanting to watch a game. There's an open business center. There's a little coffee breakfast snack bar at the front. You can reserve local transportation with them. read more

This was my first time at the J House Hotel. I came here to celebrate my birthday. The valet parking attendants were very kind and allowed us to self park in the front. The hotel is lit beautifully and when you walk in there's a beautiful Christmas tree. It's opulent and elegant and I immediately loved it. The room was very high tech and I pushed every button I could find LOL. The toilet was automated and had a bidet. The bidet had multiple functions including a drying function! The huge glass mirror was also the television and the lit glass mirror in the bathroom also was a television. The bed was comfy and so were the pillows which is never the case for me. They provided robes and sleep masks also. There was continental breakfast available if you didn't want to go to the restaurant on the premises. I had a delicious coffee and bagel. One thing I did not like was that someone near us had a dog that barked quite a bit in the morning. But this place gets 5 stars because I forgot my birthday card behind and was so devastated. I called back and she right away got in touch with housekeeping who had put it aside for me. I thought for sure they'd have just thrown it away. So I will be going back to pick it up. I just thought this was so nice of them. I will be going back in the near future. This felt like a luxurious birthday weekend well spent. read more

I had the pleasure of dining here with a group of friends. From the moment I arrived and my car was valeted away I knew this was going to be a memorable evening. The restaurant is superbly designed and has an amazing ambiance. The staff are extremely friendly and professional and their service first class. Needless to say, the menu can only be described as haute cuisine and the quality of the food and wine excellent. Was there overnight for New Year's Eve. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Ultra-modern rooms with fun all electric switched and even an all-electric toilet. We were at Tony's Restaurant with some friends, and we all loved the ambiance, and the food was really good. I had the Cold Seafood Appetizer and the Veal Chop parmesan (just delish). The cheesecake was the final straw for my already stuffed belly, but I ate it all anyway! The wait staff was on point. I'll be going back next year for the same great experience. read more

Had this review pending for what seems like years now. Alright fine! I think it's time I share my staycay oasis with you; a gem of a hotel located several short miles outside the Tri-State area. Unbeknownst to me a few years ago, I had no idea this place existed. The directive was, pack your bags, bring your noodle and let's go on a short outing. Okay!! Upon pulling up to the front parking area, my first impression was modern, yet seemed rather small. Boy was I fooled. Upon walking in, there is a teeny front desk that holds maybe two reps, surrounded by bright, clean lines with modern art pieces placed about. But as for smallness, that's where it ends. The J House opens up from there and covers a fairly decent amount of ground. On my first visit, I relished in how J House showed itself to be above trend. Your hotel room accommodations provide you with a smart room in most every area you encounter. It reminds me of those über sophisticated hotels in Cali. modern and sleek with high-tech amenities. Most hotels Eastside I've since encountered, have caught up with 'Smart' accommodations but not to the extent of J House. For instance, Room and Housekeeping Services are managed via iPad, which has become the norm in most hotels. But J House takes 'Smart' to another level. I had heard mixed reviews about this hotel from clients who said it wasn't a true "boutique" hotel, to fabulously wonderful experience. So of course I had to see for myself. The first time I stayed here was a Tuesday and Wednesday during some rough weather. The entrance to the hotel is very cute, but there is valet parking. The lobby is small but does have a seating area, and they have a little cafe that serves the continental breakfast and also has some items for sale. On the main floor is the restaurant Tony's. On the first floor is the gym and the spa. I was checked in and on the third floor. The hallways are pretty dark. On entrance to the room to the left is the bathroom, which is quite small, and I had a king bed which was quite large. The room was very spacious, and complete with a closet and a desk. The tv is inside the mirror. The bed was very comfortable, with lots of pillows. Inside the bathroom is a waterfall shower, and a heated seat toilet with bidet. The sink space is pretty small, and there is a tv inside the bathroom mirror. They have gym downstairs which is also small, has a couple of treadmills and some weights, plus a stationary bike. I didn't visit the spa.... Yet They have room service or you can visit the restaurant downstairs. They did not have the world famous meatballs that I've heard so much about. The burrata was delicious, the burger was huge with lots of fries. Definitely worth the portions. My biggest gripe is the cost of this hotel. Yes it is nice, but it is very expensive compared to other hotels in the area. And the price doesn't drop either. read more

This is a nice hotel. Good rooms (we had two-- a larger suite and a single). Well appointed and high tech. Love that they have high tech amenities for the traveler-Japanese toilets, screens in the bathroom mirrors. Love the art scattered around the hotel in both the public and private spaces. It's pretty amazing that they were able to make the transformation to nice hotel from what clearly started as a budget one. Staff was a bit on the rude side and not very versed in treating the customer correctly--which is surprising for the caliber that this hotel wishes to be. There was a minor situation with check-in and the staff kept bringing it up the entire trip in a very defensive way. It shouldn't have been an issue in the first place and the constant blame game was inappropriate at best---bringing it up multiple times over a holiday weekend to the guests when the problem had been solved days prior with little incident. The hotel is a regular hotel for the booking client, so weirder still. read more

The toilet was dirty, the glass wall was stained with red residue, the bed set had a stain, and to top it off there was a dead bird outside my window when I opened the shades. If you want to go somewhere for the atmosphere then this is a great place for that but food was average..took my family there for Mother's Day and here were the dishes we had 1) halibut special - was dry and bland..had to add salt to really give it some taste..average at best 2) shrimp and scallop fettuccini - it was supposed to be in a shrimp bisque sauce which I thought would be creamier but my sauce was very watery. Dish was average again at best 3) filet mignon- was well cooked and in my opinion the best dish 4) NY strip - well cooked and pepper corn sauce was good So in my opinion the steaks were the best to order it seemed..the Mother's Day pricing was a little pricey but I guess that should have been expected..it was an appetizer, entree and dessert for $85..one of the choices for the entree was penne alla vodka???? Nice hotel with plenty of modern fixtures. The room was spacious and clean, an iPad, a bidet and window shades that adjust at the push of a button. There was a TV in the bathroom mirror which is cool if you spend enough time in the bathroom. Bathroom features a standing shower and no tub (I don't mind standing lol.) The pool was a nice treat, I stayed here Monday - Wednesday, and it seemed really quiet. At most there were 3 other people in the pool area. There are cabanas and loungers around the pool, I did not see any staff to place orders with. The continental breakfast was a bit weak, mini croissants, a banana, coffee tea... basic and a small selection. Al thought the hotel is located right next to the highway there were no noise issues, I would stay here again. read more

The J House is truly a hidden gem. It's tucked away from all the bars and restaurants around Greenwich, and if you weren't looking for it, you'd totally miss it! The J House is perhaps the nicest collection of restaurant and bar you can find in Connecticut. Coupled with the spa, outdoor patio and coffee shop, it is hands-down the ultimate destination. Everyone who I brought to either have drinks or dinner with me has fallen in love with this place. I'm not sure why it's never too crowded, but it certainly adds to the appeal of this upscale hotel. I had my wedding at a nearby venue and almost all of my guests (including me!) travelled to the wedding and stayed at J House. We also hosted a welcome party and brunch at the hotel with almost all of our guests. It was absolutely perfect for us!! From our intimate feeling indoor/outdoor welcome reception in the Ambassador Suite to our delicious farewell brunch on the covered outdoor patio of Tony's restaurant, surrounded by greenery, everything was picture perfect. Tiffany was so helpful, professional, and easy to work with even when we had complicated requests and last minute changes. The property is so unique and was affordable for almost all of my young professional friends while being comfortable even for those with very high-end taste. As a small boutique hotel, the staff members made the effort to get to know our group really well, which made me feel that much more celebrated. read more

I had booked 2 consecutive reservations via Hotels dot com (with free cancellation up until the day before my reservation started). My travel plans changed, so I cancelled my reservation 3 weeks prior to my stay. I just checked my credit card statement and I noticed I was still charged by JHouse. I called, explained that I cancelled weeks ago, and questioned why I was charged. I was first told that I checked in on the first date of the reservation. I explained I never even made it to the hotel, and questioned who might have used my reservation because it wasn't me! I was put on hold while it was looked into, and then told that I was charged as a "No Show." (And interestingly enough, they charged me in FULL for the two separate reservations - the second of which didn't even begin until 24 hours AFTER I spoke with them [11/26].) I was given an email address to FWD my cancellation confirmations. I asked if they were going to confirm they had received my emails and was told "Yes, of course." No one replied to my emails, so I then called and had to ask if they were received. Wth? IF you book through JHouse and cancel, my advice is to KEEP ALL PAPERWORK pertaining to your cancellation! I'm now waiting for them to reverse the charges. (Next step? Disputing with my credit card company!). What a pain! read more

This hotel is simply amazing. First, it's pet friendly; they even gave us dog biscuits when we checked in! Our room was situated on the first floor too so that there was a nice patch of grass right in front of our door, which, if you've ever had to walk blocks from your hotel room just to find a patch of something for your dog to pee on first thing in the morning, you will totally relate! It was SO nice! The best part was the room - everything was operated by a control panel on the wall - the blinds (they even had blackout blinds), lights, everything! Then there was the bathroom...it was beautiful - huge counter with lots of room for toiletries and the shower was probably the best we'd had ever! Then there was the toilet...also electronically operated and very cool! The hotel staff was SO nice - everyone went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Then there was the restaurant in the lobby of this hotel - Tony's; simply amazing too - there's the old saying of never eat where you stay...not this time! Valet Service employs THIEVES! My Prada sunglasses were left in my car on January 16, 2022, around 2 p.m. When we got back in the car from brunch, I noticed my sunglasses were missing. When discussed with management (Scott), he put me through with Valet management, James, who was absolutely no help and made a blanket statement that they are not responsible for lost or stolen property. Okay. However, shouldn't you be held responsible since you hired individuals who steal? I would never give business to this establishment ever again! I had a decent time here. If I could give it an honest rating, I would give it like a 74/100. The good: The high techness of the room. I liked your could press a button to "wake up" the room and to turn down. I loved the TV in the bathroom mirror and the heated toilet seat. The shower was awesome too, with great water pressure. Room service as well, with actually not crazy prices (still high though). Nice they had some free breakfast and a bar/restaurant onsite. Tons of pillows on the bed and generally comfy bed and large room. Plus for bathrobes. Location is convenient and I found plenty of parking ($20 a night though). Tv channels are good, tons of HBO channels. The bad: Not necessarily bad but annoying. I was placed in a room that had outdoor walk up access. As someone who travels alone, I don't really like have road access to my room like a cheap motel. I get its because they re purposed an old hotel room but still. I also enjoy walking to breakfast in my sweats and I cant do this when I have to actually go outside in the cold rain. Might be a plus for some but not for me at all. Don't know how I got stuck with that but did not enjoy. My room door had to be closed with extreme physical force so I guess good for not having people burst in my room but bad for anytime I wanted to go in and out. The hotel bar/restaurant is super overpriced, deterring me from even trying their food. Oh, and the continental breakfast was lame, not even yogurt of fruits. Some bread selections, 3 cereals (but never saw milk), and hard boiled eggs. Coffee isn't even free... Generally a decent time but if a better deal at another hotel popped up, I wouldn't come back. We held our son's rehearsal dinner in the J Gallery. Can't say enough good things! Gerslyn Silva was our contact there and she was terrific. Understood all my concerns or worries and handled everything perfectly. The room was beautifully set up, Max and Joe who took care of us during the dinner were personable, friendly, funny, attentive and took care of all our needs.
