I have to admit, I was a little nervous about Kittle House being under new ownership, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived and saw the beautiful outdoor area. It's such a lovely setting and the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink. I met a friend there and we started outside with a lovely cocktail before moving inside for dinner. The meal was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was truly wonderful. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. This place has been on my radar for a hot minute and I finally made it over for dinner a few weeks ago. You are literally the only people somewhere in the neighborhood of 530 to 6 o'clock on a weeknight. We elected to sit outside, which was lovely. They have some interesting cocktails, which has just the right amount of sweetness and just the right amount of strength. Something called to me from the cheese plate and that felt non negotiable. This thing was a beauty. There were a nice variety of cheeses and a fair amount of accompaniments including breads/carbs, nuts, the quintessential cheese plate honey, and a very patriotic combination of raspberries and blueberries which feels appropriate right before 4th of July. Very high praises for the cheese board. I am vegetarian and believe it or not, there was more than one thing for me to choose from. I went wild and ordered the "eggplant parm". It is very possible that I did not read the menu thoroughly but this wasn't a typical eggplant parm but rather a cylinder of mozzarella cheese, sauce, and presumably (and hopefully) eggplant. It was ok. I was so full from the cheese plate that I couldn't even eat half of it but brought it home. I had some of it the following day but ultimately it wasn't worth the calories. There's nothing more special than Mother's Day brunch at the Kittle House Inn in Chappaqua, NY. We were seated in the bar area, where you could really feel the historic, cozy charm of the inn. Reservations filled quickly, so I felt lucky to secure a 12:00 noon table for four -- my wife, mother-in-law, son, and me. The brunch featured a prix-fixe menu, and honestly, everything sounded delicious. My son and I ordered Bloody Marys, while my wife and mother-in-law chose mimosas. I was starting to feel very sophisticated at that point. The croissants with assorted spreads and jams were outstanding. I started with the oysters, which were perfectly prepared and practically melted in your mouth. My wife was initially going to order the mixed salad, but I convinced her to try the burrata and prosciutto instead -- a great decision. My son ordered the spicy yellowfin tuna pizzetta, and my mother-in-law had the cream of artichoke soup. I sampled everything except the soup; I didn't think sticking my spoon into my mother-in-law's bowl was the best idea. Everything we tasted was excellent. The entrées were equally impressive. My salmon was unbelievably fresh, my son's filet mignon was tender and flavorful, and my wife's lobster eggs Benedict was rich and delicious. My mother-in-law enjoyed the spring vegetable quiche. Up until that point, everything had gone smoothly. Then service started to slip a bit. Desserts were taking an unusually long time, and no one had come over to ask whether we wanted coffee, espresso, cappuccino, or tea. We loved our experience at the Kittle House on Mother's Day. It felt like a welcome home dinner with our friends still at the helm. Leo is an exceptional Som and helped us make our final wine selection; the lobster eggs Benedict were so rich I had to get help to finish them. My husband and son's salmon, they said, were special and perfectly cooked. I thought the plate of croissants and scones were a wonderful touch as they came to our table immediately after we were seated. The new decor is quite handsome. Bathrooms are beautifully restored. I was really excited to get back to Kittle House after they reopened, for a holiday meal. We started with the bluefin tuna sushi pizzetta and the beet salad, both were very flavorful. The tuna was pretty spicy and the beet salad had a lot of fresh fruit in addition to being perfectly dressed. For main course we split the ribeye which came with potatoes au gratin, creamed spinach and gravy. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and delicious. We ended the dinner with the Kittle Kat dessert, always a great choice. Service was a little slow, it seemed like the kitchen was still getting used to being open, but the wait staff was attentive and friendly to make up for it. After speaking with our waiter (who was fantastic) I hear there are more additions and changes coming, but we had a great meal. That was not the reality. We later learned that the kitchen had been demolished and that the inn -- where our friends and family were expected to stay -- was undergoing major renovations. We were repeatedly reassured that everything would be finished and that there was nothing to worry about. When we expressed concern based on what we were seeing and hearing, we were made to feel as if we were overreacting. We had an awful experience at Kittle House on Father's Day. The restaurant was offering a prix fixe menu, and while the appetizers were fine and the dessert was enjoyable, the main courses were extremely disappointing. A former corporate wine merchant, pairing wine with food is a passion for us. and this amazing Farm to Table restaurant constructed in 1790 with the 3rd best rated wine cellar in America. I ordered a dozen roses and had them displayed on our table ahead of arriving. Speaking with the sommelier, I was looking for a 94 Bordeaux, Merlot or something that can stand up to a Steak but not become too bitter with fish. He came up with a 94 Leonetti Cellar Merlot, from the Walla Walla Valley. It was not in the catalog so the manager ask if we would pay a very reasonable price for what is an amazing bottle of wine. We shared a glass with the manager and sommelier, Changed the creamed spinach to a risotto to better partner with the steak and my wife had the Hiddenfjord Organic Scottish Salmon. With so much going on, I forgot pictures. After talking with the Manager and Sommelier, they gave us a tour of the wine cellar and showed us bottles over a hundred years old. They also have a table for ten in the wine cellar area where you can have different courses with wine pairings. Crabtree's Kittle house is in our rotation. Under new ownership there is a complete kitchen remodel going on the the kitchen is outside under a tent. The food was still great and presented well, but the full menu was not in play. Went to this famous restaurant and in built in 1790. Offers farm-to- table food in several charming dining rooms. They also have an amazing wine cellar. Started with a very good Beet Salad with organic beets, toasted pistachios, coach farm goat cheese, and blood orange vinaigrette. For mains, my wife tried the Beef Brisket Chili served with sour cream and a three year aged cheddar, she really liked it. I being a game nut tried their grilled Highland Farms Venison Loin, chanterelles,, baby turnips,, smoked moscato grapes, and wild huckleberries. Excellent and a great presentation. The post renovation Kittle house is very modern and boxy. The "tap room" is really loud. With no separation between the bar and the room, sitting at the bar is uncomfortable, like having a high school cafeteria behind you, and we even had trouble hearing the bartender. Same problem with hearing the servers. The new menu was very flat - nothing seasonal/artisanal or local, although the food was tasty and the portions, appetizers and entrees, were very large. Food was a good value for the price. The drinks however were expensive. So I recommend going in a group of 6 or 8, since you will need to shout down the table anyway, eat family style splitting appetizers and entrees, and order wine by the bottle not the glass. read more

The interior of the restaurant is airy and pleasant, not stuffy or overly loud or oppressive. That was great especially with the Kids. The Main course 2 Filet 1 snapper and 1 seafood spaghetti. All of those arrived cold and filets were undercooked, rare instead of medium rare. Everything had to go back. The wait staff were very attentive and polite. We were so pleased to see that the same care is giving to the food as it was during our wedding there back 23 years ago. I understand that Kimberly is still the event planner which I am sure have made many other happy couple enjoy their weddings there in more recent years. The only complaint I have is that there's no Wi-Fi, and there are very few electrical sockets, and I found only 2 that I could use easily. We went to the Kittle House for early dinner service in NYE. The food was good. Servers were nice, but a few things were missing. First, the experience just didn't seem to have the pop that I expected from a higher end restaurant creating an occasion. The interactions with staff felt somewhat transactional, not quite warm, and there were limited interactions between parties. Perhaps the staff also felt under experienced? This may not have been an issue on a random Tuesday, but felt misplaced on NYE. Maybe it was the early seating. On the food, the dishes were generally good to quite good, but did not feel at all innovative, which would have ben nice for the price. More problematic, the proteins in our mains were not properly cooked. My companion's salmon was clearly overcooked. She graciously ate it anyway. I ordered the chateaubriand, which was delicious, but my medium rare came 80% rare. It was rare to the point that I personally couldn't enjoy it, so I sent it back (a little rare texture is great, but mostly raw makes me queasy). The predictable then happened, the steak was returned well done, utterly destroyed. This never should have made it back to our table. They were kind enough to send a new piece of meat, but this time it was medium to medium well, which is a travesty for a fillet and was not on the same level as the medium rare bits of their first steak. All of this back and forth threw off the timing of our meal. Our server was kind enough to suggest another glass of wine to bridge the gap, but I was somewhat surprised to see the second glass of wine on our bill instead of comped due to the kitchen issues. None of this was awful. It is a lovely place with good food, but I feel they missed the mark. For the price point, I expected service to be on point, proteins perfectly cooked, and It would have been nice to feel like I had experienced something new and exciting in some part of the meal. read more

They have also included separation between tables as an extra covid precaution. All staff were maksed 100% of the time. Service was impeccably done and very attentive. Lovely ambiance, but attention to detail and quality of the food and beverages have gone downhill in the last few years. We used to come every year, nearly 20 years, for a holiday dinner and were always blown away, but the food and experience the last couple of years has simply been "meh." The service was very slow and transactional when present--not the high touch and welcoming service we have received in the past. While seated for a nice dinner with my family. I was wearing a satin dress for the holidays. Halfway through the meal, I realized my skirt was stuck to a piece of gum under our table! I looked and there were about 5 pieces of gum stuck under the table--I expect a cleaner environment at this caliber of establishment. And although our waiter got me a wet napkin to try and clean the gum off my dress, no one from management came over, neither to apologize nor to ask if we would like to move to another table. I wish they would have offered to pay for the dry cleaning of my skirt, or at least given us something complementary to express their apologies. Every year for my parents' anniversary my brothers and I take them out for dinner. The past two years we went to the same restaurant, so this year we wanted to change it up a bit. We had all been to the Kittle House before for brunch, but were always curious about their dinner offerings. That being said, we decided to take them here to celebrate. The Kittle House acts as both a restaurant and and inn. Located in Chappaqua, the restaurant is kind of a destination spot due to its high quality food, killer wine selection, and overall upscale, historical aesthetics. Since we're in Westchester, the restaurant offered both indoor and outdoor dining, but we opted to eat outside. They did the outside very nice - tables well spaced apart, lights strung throughout the area, and a QR code at each table so we could read the menu on our phones. I wouldn't say it matched the historical charm of the interior decor exactly, but it complemented it well. The menu had a nice selection - mostly New American dishes with a few surprises like a barbecue plate and lobster. To start I had the burrata - this was paired with a few greens and slices of tomato. Overall it wasn't the best burrata I've had, but it had that creamy center which was nice. I would have liked to have seen it paired maybe with some prosciutto or asparagus to take it to the next level. For my main I had the salmon which was quite good. It was paired with black jasmine rice, broccoli rabe, and grape tomatoes. It also had a very light cream sauce which really tied everything together. The salmon was cooked well and overall the dish was a yes. For dessert I had their Kittle Krack pie which had a really buttery taste and consistency to it; they topped the pie with coconut gelato which was kind of random but worked. Their cocktail menu shouldn't be missed - the French martini which included pineapple juice was quite good. Service was good overall, though something that happened toward the end of my meal bothered me a bit. We were sitting outside and during the latter half of my time there the temperature dropped to below 50; fine - I had on a thick sweater and the restaurant had those tower heaters on so I could handle it. What irked me though was that I guess the cold bothered a table down the way so much that they asked the staff to move the heater closer to their table - and they did. That didn't seem fair to me because then it left my table without any source of heat - I would have appreciated at least being asked before something like that was done, or maybe explaining to the other table that there are other diners outside and the heat needs to be shared. All things considered though, the Kittle House provides a good dining experience. I would definitely return for a special occasion to explore more of their menu and wines. read more

I love the location. The restaurant is in an old plantation-style house from the 1800s. The servers are on point. This is definitely a fine-dining establishment so that is to be expected. They have one of the most extensive wine lists in the country. There is a wine cellar that you can request to dine in. The food is phenomenal. The truffle mac and cheese was creamy and enhanced with truffle oil. The short rib was so tender you could tear it with your fork. The gravy around it was rich and delicious. Then I got the shrimp cocktail appetizer which was delicious. Belgian waffle for my main which was just the right portion and tasty. We had a fantastic meal here with friends. The atmospheric here is comfortable and cozy yet elegant. Service excellent. I had the asparagus soup & the branzino- both delicious. Not great with the new management. We married here years back and always return for our anniversary. This year we walked in and the lovely piano is now being used as a reception desk. The food and service was sub-par. The beautiful grounds are no longer well kept and the whole place had a tacky feel to it. It was so off that I had check to see if it was sold, it was in 2024 to a new family. We will not return. read more
