While it is billed as a steak house, it has a much more extensive menu, including lots of pasta and seafood dishes.

I found myself at Freddy's to celebrate my dad's birthday. He was in the mood for a burger and…read moreafter searching the Westchester area we ultimately landed here. The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

I was very excited about going to this restaurant to have some delicious authentic French food…read more When we first arrived at the restaurant, there were a few people eating outdoors, even though it was a rather cool day. When we first walked into the restaurant, it struck me more like a bar with tables as it didn't have some of the French influences that I'm used to in the past at other restaurants. We were the only two patrons inside the restaurant granted it was 3:30 on a Sunday. The waiters were very warm, welcoming and pleasant. Both my Guest and I ordered the French onion soup to start. The soup was slightly above warm but not hot considering there was a chill in the area I thought this would be the remedy to regulate our temperatures. Immediately after our soup was taken away we receive our meals, no time wasted. My Croque Monsieur was okay, the taste of the ham and cheese was reasonable, but the bread used was kind of tough and challenging to bite, to separate a bite size amount, I was moved to using a fork and a serrated knife and that made it a little easier. We both had a little bit higher expectations for a French restaurant that met some of our needs, but not all. JTL

I Also noticed she brought bread to the one table and just ignored the rest. Food was very confusing. The seafood chowder was decent, the rest was just terrible. My meal consisted of three fried pieces of eggplant and about 1/2 pound of salad mix thrown on the top.. There is no ambiance. This is basically a french dive bar with a patio. Inside is old, dated, and esthetically bland. The aged outdoor chairs are basically gargoyle warning of the dread that lies within. This place is why I love restaurant week. I would not pay full price for a meal here.. Travelers beware..

I have been meaning to come here for a minute and finally found the opportunity last week…read more It was Wednesday in June. We were actually supposed to go on vacation but apocalyptic weather at our destination meant that every flight to that region was cancelled or severely delayed and ain't nobody got time for that so we decided to take a staycation instead. It felt only right to do the thing we would have done on vacation and go out for dinner. TBH we're old now so vacation or not, we eat on the earlier side of things. I think we went at around 5:30pm. Ample amount of seating available at that time. They have quite a large menu with many intriguing options. Unfortunately, only vegetarian main I recall was the mac and cheese. Instead, I settled on the santa fe salad for my main and GF the lettuce tacos for hers. The appetizer menu was particularly appetizing but we had to settle on two so we went with the spicy cauliflower and brie-stuffed pretzel. The spicy cauliflower was flavored aggressively, in a positive kind of way. The accompanying ranch brought everything together. You also can't go wrong with a brie stuffed pretzel. I don't typically like sweet in what is traditionally a savory flavor profile but the fig jam really added a welcome new dimension. Santa fe salad was gigantic. I actually was able to eat the rest of it for dinner on the following night. Absolutely loaded with goodies like avocado, corn, cheese, black beans, scallions, tomatoes. What a combo of flavors and textures in that thing. GF enjoyed all of the tacos except for nashville hot chicken but she isn't a big fan of chicken to begin with. I was especially impressed by their drink menu. They have a literal "smoked" menu which I could not pass up. I went with the southern smoke which is out of character for me because I typically don't get bourbon (for a reason...and i suffered later). This drink packed a fucking PUNCH. My goodness. There is no candy land bullshit juice drinks here, you definitely get your money's worth. There was a touch of a time period between when I finished my drink and was asked if I wanted another but at least they did ask. Ultimately a good experience. I do wish they had some vegetarian mains but if you aren't vegetarian and like southern food you would probably enjoy tremendously.

The parking was fairly easy to find, lots of street spots. We had made a reservation a few days prior without any issues. There is no service in the restaurant for AT&T users so just be aware of that. I had to use the wifi for work for a few mins and it was nice enough for the staff to share their wifi password. Ambiance was nice, classy, and dim lit. Service was ok I would say..i think the place is very focused on wine, which we did not order, so no one really paid attention to fill our water and we had empty water glasses for most of our dinner. The food was pretty decent, we always get potatas bravas at any Spanish tapas place and this was pretty standard. The menu was not too large but had a decent selection. The price though I thought was on the pricier side for the amount of food we got, even considering that it's Spanish tapas.

We Started off with drinks and tapas. The drinks packed a nice punch and came out quickly. The tapas were potatoes bravada which consisted of small potatoes cut in squares and fried up with a bravada sauce which went perfectly on top with the crunchy outside and creamy inside of the potato. Next we tried the cod fish fritters which weren't my fave but for people that enjoy cod fish they were good. Crispy outside with cod fish and potato filling. Lastly for tapas we had the broccolini which was flash fried and super crispy almost making it hard to eat but the taste was very good. For main course we had paella for two and the steak and all shared. The paella takes awhile and we were told that so we enjoyed another round of drinks. When the paella came out it was the star of the table. The rice was cooked perfectly aldente and the seasoning and seafood was right on target. The steak was cooked medium and could melt in your mouth it was super tender and the sauce provided was amazing. For dessert we had chocolate mousse and the almond torte and the owner sent over the rest of the desserts for us to try. My fave was the mousse it was made with dark chocolate and had an amazing texture. The next dessert was the crème brulee which was extremely good the crunch on top was perfectly and the pudding itself was light and creamy. The almond torte was a bit dry but the homemade chocolate ice cream helped immensely as it was amazing and paired great with the torte. The cheesecake was our last try and it was very good dense and low sugar but the strawberries and homemade vanilla made it a great cake too Service was amazing very attentive They do take credit card and I would recommend reservations

If you are expecting a nice dinner with good service and a pleasant atmosphere do not go here. Firstly, my husband and I went to have a diner and a drink, we opted to sit at the bar, we sat at the very end corner of the bar, keep in mind the space between where we were sitting and back wall was minimal. A large family came in and as they were waiting for their table they squeezed themselves behind us with their kids practically sitting at the bar with us, we couldn't enjoy the rest of our meal because they kept bumping into us and yelling over us. That's not entirely the issue, the issue is how the bartender Tonianne and management conducted themselves. We told Tonianne that we would have loved to stay but it's very difficult to enjoy a meal. We understood it was busy but instead of apologizing and moving on Tonianne instantly got a very rude attitude and proceeded to go to her manager and talk crap about us in our faces, she even began pointing at us while talking crap. To make matters worse there was a discrepancy with our bill. The owner came over to us after Tonianne continued to talk crap about us in front of the whole bar with other patrons and he attempted to sort the discrepancy with us, once sorted he told us to "get out." I have never been kicked out of a restaurant before for making a comment about children at a bar, people bumping into us, and the inability to actually enjoy a meal because there isn't enough space in the restaurant for people to wait? Maybe get a better system in place to where every patron can enjoy the establishment and leave happy. And to the bartenders who feel it is appropriate to shame paying customers and talk crap about them in front of a whole restaurant I hope you learn to conduct yourself better and have some class next time a situation like this arises. Also.... We weren't the only ones complaining. What a terrible way to be treated.

I am vegetarian and while they have a bunch of veggie appetizers I was disappointed in the complete lack of any vegetarian entree. It's 2026. They have some creative cocktails, GF tried the margarita and liked it enough that she ordered a second. I ordered something with a cheeky name that I believe had vodka and something citrusy/floraly that I also enjoyed. Something kind of strange though, maybe 5-10 minutes after ordering our drinks, another person came over and said "the person who took your drinks didn't get the last 2 so what did you order?" People make mistakes, I get it. Idk how anyone remembers shit anyway but maybe write it down? Either way, it felt strange that someone else came over to say that. It just felt odd. Fortunately our drinks came but we had to flag someone down to order that second margarita later. I ordered the cauliflower and kale soup and the cauliflower fritters mainly because they were 2 of the very limited things I could order but the waiter was a little judge judy (cauliflower soup AND cauliflower fritters?) yes, my guy. The cauliflower and kale soup was under salted which I actually appreciate. I hate when anything is over-salted to the point of drowning out the other flavors. I am impressed by their confidence in the soup to NOT do that but it didn't really stand on its own and was a touch bland. The fritters, on the other hand, were sensational. That roasted beet aioli was delicious and the crispness of the outside of the fritters was a lovely texture. 3/4 of us got our food at least 5 minutes before the last person which is not ideal. Portions were also surprisingly small for the prices.
