I recently a had a great second PT experience with Dr. Erin Borda at Jackson Clinics Shirlington. My knee had been bothering me and I had been putting off getting care. But I wanted to get back to skiing, and since she had given me very successful treatment for a shoulder/neck issue a few months ago, I knew who to call! At my first knee evaluation appointment, she immediately saw a combination of issues that were contributing to knee strain when I walked. What a revelation to learn a better way, after so many years of doing things that strained my knees. The exercises Dr. Borda assigns for me to do at home are simple and have had a rapid positive effect. I feel stronger, with the knee pain almost completely gone. Yesterday I was squatting to clean our front steps and I suddenly went Wow! This is easy and doesn't hurt! When I first met Dr. Borda a few months ago (during my PT for neck and shoulder), I was so thrilled to have a doctor with the experience to diagnose correctly and get healing results quickly. She is a delightful person as well; appointments are fun and I always learn something new about proper body mechanics. Virtual appointments are surprisingly easy. That said, I chose to do some of my treatment at the clinic, and felt safe with the large room and the covid precautions. The entire staff are excellent, and I highly recommend them! read more

I was dealing with some pain and stiffness from previous back problems (mostly muscle, also herniated disc from 2004). I also wanted instructions on how to do weight-lifting exercises the right way so as not to aggravate my back problems. I had been to other PT groups before, but did not expect the great treatment I got at Jackson. They measured and tested my strength and flexibility on my first appointment so they could gauge my progress. Then they gave me several core-strengthening exercises and worked me through them over several weeks. At an early re-evaluation they determined that I only needed to come once a week since I was making good progress. How many places will tell you to *not* come by as much? Their honesty stunned me and gained my trust. Now I'm about to finish up. My aches and stiff back are gone. The exercises are really helping and their advice on weight lifting routines was spot on. I can't remember all the names involved, but kudos to Brittany, Kyle, Leia, Melania (I might be spelling that wrong, sorry), and several others. This is a 5-star clinic. -- Lou read more

I'm now experiencing my 3rd time using the Jackson Clinics in Shirlington. My first and second experiences began in 2015 and in 2016. I experienced meniscus tears for both my left and right knee. Surgery was an option but in consulting with my primary doctor I decided to pursue physical therapy first. Because of an outstanding staff at the Jackson Clinics Shirlington, I was able to forego surgery and my knees mended beyond expectations. The staff is very professional and friendly and the environment is very conducive for physical therapy. To the Physical Therapist with whom I've had the pleasure of being with, my main therapist, Leah, and to the others, Margaret and Brittany, I say thank you. To the Exercise Specialists, Marielle, Kyle and Rachel, thank you as well. And lastly to the Office staff, Gloria, Mary, and Shantay, you've always greeted me with a smile and very helpful-- thank you too!. P.S. My father (Edgar Crespo) has been a patient of the Jackson Clinic in 3 different occasions. Two were at the Jackson Clinic in the Skyline location and his last visit was at the Shirlington location. My father tells me that both locations are very different from each other but if he had to choose between these two places he would absolutely pick the Shirlington location without a doubt. What he like about the Shirlington location is that the therapist dedicate all of there time with the patient he or she is attending too, he feels that he's actually receiving the care that he should have gotten the first two times when he first started with the Jackson clinic. At the moment my father is being attended by Ms. Leah Willis who has been with him for over two months now, he has seen a very big difference in himself all thanks to Ms. Leah. She is a wonderful and dedicated professional who is constantly giving him advice and techniques on different things to do at home and on his down time. read more

Leah Willis, DPT and Kyle Hamblen are great ambassadors for Jackson Clinics. Leah is a no-nonsense person who listens well and directs well; I am impressed by the rapidity of my recovery from a hip replacement procedure done at the anterior side on 9/22/2015. I am 78 with sometimes grandiose ideas of what I am capable of. Leah brought reality to the process, and I am grateful. She understands limitations while pushing for more as required. Kyle is a great helpmate, and I particularly enjoyed his strengthening combined with balancing work. I hadn't realized how important core strengthening is to the entire effort. This clinic has a smiley group of competent people including the front desk. As a former business owner, I know that this usually results from the top down. I ruptured the quadriceps tendon in my left leg in January. After surgery, I couldn't drive, couldn't walk without crutches, couldn't do squat. It's May and I'm 95% fully functional thanks to the terrific work of Doctor of Physical Therapy Helen Goldfrank and Certified Athletic Trainer Marielle Isenberg at The Jackson Clinics Shirlington. They taught me what I needed to know and what I needed to do to recover. Helen answered my questions thoughtfully, demonstrating expertise in the healing processes of the human body. Marielle instructed me on the exercises I needed to do, let me do my work but always with a watchful eye and a gentle correction when I was out of alignment. Leah and Kristen were my physical therapists and they are amazing. In fact, the entire staff is great. Scheduling was simple, too. I highly recommend going to The Jackson Clinics Shirlington since Leah and Kristin literally helped me get back on my feet. I completely tore my left longus adductor tendon (groin) in September 2015 while playing soccer and I couldn't walk without severe pain in subsequent weeks. By November I still couldn't even jog without major discomfort, which is why I knew I needed to do PT. Thanks to Leah and Kristin and the rest of team I am doing great now and have no limitations. The two months of PT I did helped me out so much. I am back playing soccer and will soon be squatting over 300lbs again. 5 STARS! read more

When I started PT, I could barely walk, due to a broken and repaired femur. With trepidation, I entered the Jackson Clinic on Braddock Rd. for the very first time, not knowing what to expect. Jen, at the front desk, was warm and welcoming and made me feel at ease. I was evaluated by Tyler Meis, who was so knowledgable and assured me that by working together, great progress could be made. Not only did he work with the damage done by the femur but also worked with a damaged tendon in my foot that probably caused the fall in the first place. He was so professional and so wonderful ! I recently finished 6 months of Physical Therapy with the Jackson Clinics in Oakton, VA. I suffered an injury 15 months earlier, and I had been to a lot of doctor appointments with no success. I finally decided that PT was the only hope for a solution that I had left. I had been in PT before, but I was skeptical because I didn't really see any results. Then I tried the Jackson Clinics. The quality of care that I received from Catherine Thomas (DPT) and Brianna Tines (Exercise Specialist) was outstanding! The jackson clinic sucks, i went there because the clinic was closer to my job, that was a major mistake. upon my initial visit I was evaluated by the PT and sent to the PT asst for therpy. Never received Heating of clod or ultrasound treatment which was recommended by my ortho doctor, Only streaching exercise. Ather 3rd visit I switch to a sports med clinic, boy what a difference. I currently receive heat, electric and cold therpy along with one on one physical rehabilitation. If you are considering the jackson clinic I suggest you look around and do a little reseach first. read more

The Jackson Clinics helped me through two piriformis problems and two hip replacements. I found them knowledgeable, helpful and a great resource in recovering. They work well with a person's eccentricities as a person has their ups and downs while getting better. For something as boring as PT can be, they have lots of variations to keep you going. I just finished several months of physical therapy after back surgery. I'm back on my feet, thanks in no small part to my therapist (Annie) and all of the exercise therapists (especially Taylor and Andrew). From the front desk (Mary and Jasmine), they are all great professionals and just nice people. The therapy was hard but everyone helped me go from using a cane and not being able to get up from a chair to be able to walk, ride a bike and generally feel stronger! I had bunion surgery and had to go to PT, which I wasn't excited about and didn't think it could help. But I actually wound up looking forward to going. The staff at the front desk are very responsive and friendly, and my therapist, Leah, is top notch. She accommodated some special requests for me, and between the massage and the exercises--most of which I could also do at home--I am doing much, much better than when I started. I have recently completed six sessions of PT at this facility. This was not my first and only experience with physical therapy. The staff here is professional, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. Great experience! Annie (therapist) and Kyle (trainer) were very good at explaining what they were doing to help me get my sprained ankle back in shape and why the at-home exercises were so important. They were encouraging and fun! Because of their care and me doing my homework, I was able to go on a two week trip to Scotland with no difficulty.
