I attended an opening night event here and was delighted to hear from one of the artists who drove in from Chicago. Two separate artists were featured at the time. Both had art having to do with repurposing items. I also got to see the basement where studio spaces are rented. Definitely a nice spot for an artist in need of such a space. Admission is FREE! You own a building in Riverwest and you take care of said building by doing all the things to help improve the overall look of the place but you don't really seem to reach out to the neighborhood as whole. There in lies the problem. What I've seen from the Ski Club, such as the RW24 event as a pop up spot and the place was ungodly packed, was really cool. Every time I walk by, actually I live on the same block and see what is done over here constantly. Pop up show after pop up show with all different art setups. So far so good but as I said you live in the neighborhood, reach out to the neighborhood, especially your immediate neighbors. Maybe though they're just to good for people like me... When I returned with the pieces, he quoted me three times what he had originally, claiming the parts would damage his machine (not true). When I called the original Madison framer who did the work, they told me that they wish I hadn't taken it apart because there's a "correct" way to do it. This guy is just in it for the money. So if you have enough to buy an Hermes bag. You can always get the box framed there-- happily I'm sure.
