Square top peninsula bar to the left as you walk in and lounge area sofas and arm chairs to sit in groups to the right. Place is clean and just FYI it has one unisex bathroom and the place opens at 7 PM. This Friday night featured an appetizer menu, what I will call a munchies menu of tacos made by another vendor, and bottle cap bingo of all things. I tried the pecan bourbon old fashioned ($13) and found it to be good. I try to limit the add-ins somewhat and so I just stuck with Buffalo Trace on a large rock for the rest of the night. My wife had several mixed drinks that were in the $12 range. Matthias came up with a drink that was, per my wife, "sweet and strong." I thought maybe she was thinking of me when she ordered but she nixed that idea pretty quickly....LOL Mini-charcuterie ($12) I thought left something to be desired. Beef jerky added with just a toothpick of cured meats. Not sure how they fit three different types on there but they did and it was just enough to make you want more. Cheeses seemed to be basic run of the mill diced. Per my wife it was ok, but she would probably pass on ordering it again. It's not meant as an entree to be fair and there is a good portion as a whole, but just overly simple and a little light on proteins. I'd cut down the cheese and double the toothpick, also 86 that jerky stuff and probably have a decent plate. Maybe even through a couple extra strawberries on there. Two sisters sitting next to us ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. They said the dip was fine but the baguettes were way over-toasted (i.e. too dry) and that seems like an easy fix. Later in the evening during bingo I tried a couple of tacos. They are brought in and stored, reheated when ordered. Unfortunately it seems like it as the flour tortillas are quite soft and it just doesn't come out fresh. The relleno burrito is just a relleno wrapped in a flour tortilla; the potato and chorizo had my wife's approval and mine as well. Laura runs a good bar over there, and some of you may remember her from Torchy's down the road. Fair pours and prices commensurate for around the area. Bingo runs pretty quickly, even the blackouts and the organizer had a plinko game a la price is right style. Was a fun run down memory lane for me. In a bit of irony, we never ordered dessert, which is the main focus of this business during the week. The samples I saw looked pretty good and it seems like the bar is just a way to make use of the space off bakery hours which I can appreciate. To me though they are nearing that price range where I'd expect a little better from the kitchen for appetizers. About $120 was the overall tab which we capped with a 25% tip. Went home after having a good time but just felt they fell short on the food.

Three days before the big day, I found this cake shop and sent her the info all with a few other bakeries to see who can work their magic and have it ready for us. I was honestly not too hopeful since all bakeries were slammed with graduation cake orders. She called Cristy's, made it a simple cake(chocolate and vanilla) since they were kind enough to squeeze us in and accommodate us. They had the cake ready for pick up day and it was beautiful. Yes, most cakes are beautiful but do they actually taste good? NO. But this cake did! So soft, fluffy and flavorful! We had a two tiered cake and there was nothing left because people wanted to take some home too! You have yourself a new regular! This family owned and operated bakery is outstanding in service had quality! P.S. their Mexican wedding cookies (powdered sugar and cinnamon) were some of the best we've ever had!

Although I ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla with sausage, the quesadilla was made with bacon instead. The corn tortillas were brittle similar to hard-shelled taco shells. The portion was generous as I barely ate half of it. As I was paying, it was awkward being requested a gratuity. The only employees present were the owners. I got 4 peanut butter cup, 3 carrot cake, 2 cookies and cream, 2 caramel crunch, and the last birthday cake one. Everyone was very impressed with them and absolutely loved them when they ate them. They have other tables and comfortable chairs in other areas.The best was the music was actually in the background, talking with a group of 6 was easy. They have a party room for parties. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They were making waffle cones and the place smelled wonderful! We got Bees Knees and Expresso Chocolate Chip! They are so good. My grandson had a double dip waffle cones. Fun place to get a treat and sit and talk about your day. Perfect for a hot Texas day! We will definitely be back! Vodka and Tequila was about $5 to $8 over the normal price compared to other liquor stores. The bourbon was marked $30 more. I think this type of store takes advantage of their proximity and advantage of your wallet. If it was at all affordable, I would shop here. I think it's important to support local business, but the business has to also not take advantage of people.
