From the time I walked in the door the atmosphere was so inviting and kind of overwhelming with all the different flavors. How in the world do you choose? I chose Blueberry ice cream on a sugar cone. It had fresh frozen big blueberries. Hmmm... The ice cream tasted so fresh like they just churned it. Also went back and asked about the fan favorites: country pecan and old fashion Sunday. The country pecan was my favorite of the two but that's just a preference because the Sunday was just as delicious. I really enjoy that the flavors don't feel overly sweet, and they are at the perfect texture to enjoy! My total was about $29 with a 15% tip for two waffle cones and one cup. The ice cream parlor has plenty of seating, it's spacious inside. There are so many flavors to choose from you stare at the menu planning future visits. There were many flavors on display but none of their chocolate flavors, unless you consider S'mores and Rocky Road chocolate. I was told the regular chocolate was available in the freezer. I decided to get the espresso chip in a brownie sundae. Since I was not asked a size, I assume it comes in one size. At over $8, I was saddened of the small size of the sundae. The brownie itself must have been small to fit at the bottom. The whipped topping being as enjoyable as the ice cream pleasantly surprised me. There is signage requiring a facial mask and social distancing. I wished I had known it was an old sign prior to the vaccines. My car was parked at the opposite end and it would have saved me the walk to get my mask. About half the adult customers were not wearing a mask and they were packed like sardines. read more

I love the unique flavors and having numerous options. What I don't love is melted ice cream. You have to order double the amount of ice cream you actually want for any sundae or cobbler because half of it will melt before you finish payment at the register. Have visited the location by the courthouse in Denton numerous times. Last evening was the first time to visit this location. Same amazing ice cream as the other location. I had a scoop of Lemon Drop and a scoop of the Dark Sunset. The Lemon Drop was a delicious lemon custard and the Dark Sunset was an amazing orange ice cream with pieces of dark chocolate. I had only planned to get a single scoop, but after sampling both of these, I couldn't decide on just one and ended up with two scoops. What made the visit so special was the young man working behind the counter. He was very helpful and friendly. When my wife or I asked him any question about any of the flavors he would explain what was in the flavor. His attitude was amazing. He acted as if he really enjoyed working there and helping customers. He told me that the Lemon Drop was the only custard they have and when I asked if they made the orange ice cream without the chocolate, he told me, he wished they did, but they don't. When in Denton, there's only one place to go get ice cream and it is Beth Marie's. I've never been to this location only having gone to the downtown location. I do find The downtown location to have its own special charm. I wanted to check this location out because I was close to it, one and two, I had never been. Immediately I was greeted by friendly face and a warm smile. There was just one person working and several customers were ahead of me. This gave me time to look through one of their 40 to 50 different homemade flavors that they make in the house. And I chose the chocolate covered strawberries in a sugar cone. The price is a little high at close to four dollars for an ice cream cone but I don't mind paying that I at a place like this. You know that the product is of good quality and probably worth even more than they charge. The smell of the fresh waffle cones filled the air and made it difficult not to get one of those monstrosities but I knew that I would have had a terrible stomachache if I chose to get that much ice cream! I enjoyed my ice cream at the small park just down the road and realized that most of the time when I come here it is extremely hot and my ice cream melts faster than I can eat it. The weather today was perfect and allowed me a little bit of extra time to eat my ice cream. One last point. Great location. Right next to the movie theater so you can have ice cream before the movies. great place to go on a date and swing to the movies. Cute atmosphere with all these love wired chairs and mini round tables. As soon as we walked in, it was quite hot in here. They had ceiling fans running but all I could feel was hot air. Ice cream is $.67 per oz. idk if that's how most places do it. But it was kind of weird. A 2 oz was the size of a golf ball. And a 4 oz a size of tennis ball. Cones are a separate charge. So if you want a decent size ice cream cone. I think that would run almost $5. We got the mini banana split with vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The banana really helped. But the ice cream itself was not of completely smooth texture. Unless it was the fudge that was grainy. The ice cream melted extremely fast cause of the hot air and ceiling fans going. Whip cream looked like it came from store bought cans. Not thick and homemade. Not the real deal. And it was bland too. They had a lot of flavors. This is much larger than the original location on the square. They have a lot of seating, both inside and outside, but do not have any larger tables like the original location. However, parking is available by both the front and back entrances and is more plentiful. This location also has a closed off party room. In many ways they mimick the original with the menu, decor and use the same chairs at their tables. The kids tables are adorable mini versions too! As far as I can tell, the prices and flavors are the same. Service seems slower here and they only had 2 people working on a weekend afternoon. When we arrived there was no line, but they were both finishing an order. When they finally came over, several parties came in and they started to skip over us. I guess they realized their mistake though because they came back to us. I sampled the French Toast, which was good, but went with Texas Doctor. Dr Pepper and pralines, yum! While I went with a cake cone, my husband went with a sugar and got two junior scoops- purple cow and watermelon sorbet. Now the purple cow is also a sorbet, but it wasn't labeled that way, so I would recommend sampling before letting them scoop. He loves grape, it just wasn't the expected texture. So, I asked for a junior scoop and my husband asked for two junior scoops. I'm pretty sure I got a regular scoop and his was definitely two juniors and was falling apart. The total for both was $5.25 but it didn't strike me as odd until after we paid, so I just rolled with it. I guess that happens when two different people are scooping. Not a big deal with adults, but I would hate to have two children bickering over who got the bigger scoop. I got to try a taste of the watermelon sorbet with a little of the sugar cone and it was quite refreshing, I would try that on a hot day, for sure! However, I was more than content with my dairy ice cream, soda based, nutty concoction and it was a really nice treat. So glad I got that flavor! I noticed they also have the lunch options here, it's sandwiches like tuna salad and such. Just a small offering since everyone's clearly here for the ice cream. At the other location, I always get shakes and I bet they are just as good here, but they take time to make. I saw someone in line get one and it was gorgeous. If you don't mind the line and a little disorganization, Beth Marie's has some great ice cream They also have free water at the counter, which is a nice touch. Considering the size of the scoops, it's a bit expensive (as is the original location) but they make their own ice cream so that takes some of the sting out of the price tag. A nice parlor vibe with lots of flavor options that honestly did not live up to the descriptions. We tried bah hah blackberry, key lime pie, dark chocolate, and Bees Knees. Except for the dark chocolate, all lacked the flavor promised. The butterscotch topping also lacked flavor. That being said, the person who ordered Bees Knees loved it. This is my go to place for ice cream when I'm craving! Fell in love since the first time I had it. I love their unique flavors, there are so many to choose from!! I just wish the line didn't begin as soon as you walk in, kind of annoying when the store gets busy. Their board with the flavors is confusing too because they don't have them all the time so when there's a line you just have to wait until you can see what's in the coolers for the day. To give you a bit of history about myself, I LOVE sweets! To be more specific, I love ice cream and cake. I love sweets so much my nickname is teecakez. I love Braum's but have always wanted to give Beth Marie's a try. We went here on Father's Day for an afternoon treat. Hubby had a float (mostly soda) the boys had a scoop each on regular cone (loved ice cream but said cone was stale). I had double scoop on waffle cone (cone too soft and ice cream not at all what I expected). When I saw homemade, I expected granny's slow churnned goodness. Instead, I got Blue Bunny sorrow and I absolutely detest Blue Bunny. I ended up giving my hubby my ice cream and he enjoyed it. The guys loved it, but they'll pretty much eat anything. The idea of this place is nice, but it's not for me. They're also pricey. Cones are separate and my double scoop was $5. I paid a total of $15 which I feel was too much for what we got, but at least the guys enjoyed their treats. Momma is going to stick to old faithful. read more
