I had the banana nut muffin and is was truly the best banana nut muffin I've ever had! It had a mix of nuts, seeds, a smattering of mini chocolate chips and a drizzle of icing. Add a light shake of sea salt, and you have found my ideal breakfast treat. My husband had the apple cinnamon crumble muffin. We made an audible "mmmm" on his first bite. Our Americano and latte were exactly as we hoped. If you have time to linger, go upstairs and sit on one large leather couches. We met some native Nova Scotians and never felt rushed. And if we were made of money I would have bought one of the beautiful hand-dyed silk scarves on sale one the first floor. Thank goodness we are here in Mahone Bay for a while... we shall return!

Everything was delicious, the staff were pleasant and friendly, and the overall vibe of the atmosphere was incredibly calming and relaxing. They also sell various coffees and teas as well as gifts. This is a great spot to go to to relax or socialize, and we'll definitely be back the next time we visit the area.

I just had a breakfast sandwich since they had no pastries or muffins, which in itself is odd for a coffee shop. It was mid-day, where a snack was needed to get us to dinner time, and Yelp to the rescue again. A quick search turned up Famous Town Pie Shop, and what an excellent choice this was in more ways than one. It turns out Yelp's hours of operation for this place are wrong, so we showed up just as they were closing. Being the chubby Merkans that we are, I tried the door handle and they were still open (thankfully). We were greeted with favor though as the nice staff welcomed us to try the last pies of the day. I asked for them to surprise me with whatever was available and settled on two savory pies. Uh-mazing! It had been a while since I'd last had a really good savory pie, and good ones are most certainly not available in the Southeastern U.S. of A, so this experience was amplified a bit. The crust was spot-on, the fillings were flavorful, and the portion size definitely is large enough for most North Americans. Once we scarfed down the pies outside, the owner came outside and gave us some outstanding recommendations on NS and excellent conversation. I would visit this place in a heartbeat again if we are ever in the area. This is one of those little gems that we love stumbling upon in our travels.

It's a cafe, so not surprisingly its menu is limited. Only about four meal items, but lots of smoothies, snacks, and desserts. Not licensed but has a good selection of soft drinks. It's co-branded as a fish and chip place and as all gluten free so naturally I had gf fish and chips. There are now three gf fish and chips offered in the area. All very good but this is the only one that comes with hand cut fries and house made tartar sauce. Delicious! It's not a large serving but very reasonably priced. For dessert I had two energy balls and a coffee. Very good and made me feel healthier than having one of the three delicious sounding desserts. The owner/chef/waiter is extremely helpful and attentive. He is obviously very dedicated to providing great food and service to his customers. A great addition to our local restaurant offerings and wonderful to have more gluten free options. I think a five star is within reach, I'll try a few more menu options and see how the menu evolves.

My local used bookstore…read more As an avid reader, and a supporter of local stores, this is my first stop when in need for a new/used/different book. The lady who runs/owns the place, is very friendly, and seems to know where, and what everything is. It's amazing, if i am looking for a specific book, she will know if she has it, had it, and if not, she will take you info and try to find it/them for you! Just amazing customer service. I almost always walk out with a few books, but more importantly I always walk in with some to give back. If you haven't been, check it out, support the little folks, and enjoy the coffee shop as well!
