Ahhh Delish! If you want a "Proper" British breakfast they are the ONLY game in town. The breakfast Pasties are so good my mouth is watering writing this review. They also do a Pastie and Egg breakfast complete with beans and brown sauce that will solve EVERY HANGOVER YOU EVER HAD. They also have frozen soups and meals that are homemade. There is a complete British expat section where you can buy all the favs you can't seem to find outside London, and if you get the chance try the pastry wrapped sausage. OMFG! read more

Confession - Now I'll admit I do "know" the owner here - but only because he is a friendly British chap, who talks to his punters. I do believe Delish thoroughly deserves their recent 2011 "Best of British" award from the Daily Telegraph - their homemade pies, pasties and sausages are spot on - and the imported range of britfoods is so welcome for us homesick jocks. Add to that a friendly welcome and chat - it's just a great place to stop by. All we need now is a British Pub next door! I just found out they do a breakfast pastie full of bacon, beans, and cheese. Delish (above White Sails Bakery) opened within the last few months. They are a deli and have a limited menu but their smoked meat sandwich is great and they have a number of "British" items for sale. Prices are a bit steep. The young woman who works there is cute as a button and the owners are friendly. Don't forget to stop downstairs at the bakery --- I can vouch for their carrot cake! read more

Delish was truly a delight! Stopped there for brunch on a Sunday, on the way to Peggy's Cove. I'm so glad we stopped! We were going to go to the restaurant at Peggy's Cove, but since we hadn't had a thing to eat, we (basically) picked Delish because it was on the way. I have to say that this is the best "impulse" choice that I've made, bar none. I had the quiche - excellent flavor with bacon, Swiss cheese and just the right amount of spices. I ordered a pastie, but only had a bite or two because I was too full to eat more than that. My best half had a panino - also top marks for their excellent flavor. Everything was fresh and VERY tasty! Delish has the best "British" food that I've had outside of the U.K. I was very tempted to order eggs and chips for a trip down memory lane, but ever since my days Air Force days back in Lakenheath, my cholesterol levels have never fully recovered! ;) Cheers to the owners for their friendliness and their excellent variety of food, flavors and freshness! read more

This is my go to place for a local lunch or breakfast. have never been disappointed and things I would recommend...even though everything on the menu is great. The Sheppard's pie is always a favorite, and except that I tend to get more that I need for lunch...it is awesome. Also, on Fridays they usually offer Pad Thai as a special, and is a creation of one of their staff, a young woman from Thailand, so if you happen to get there early enough to get some, dont miss it, as it goes fast. This place has lots of British items for sale and it's especially fun around Christmas time. My son loves the pasties and they have some really good soups. Their smoked meat sandwiches are good but I wish they were a little bigger for the price. The owners are friendly and it's a fun place to check out. read more

Delish is GREAT!!!!! Denis and Linda are wonderful owners and have a great staff as well as a great British product range with store baked pies and British sausages made locally to Denis's own recipes. (He used to be a butcher and caterer back in the UK). They also sell groceries, soft drinks and sweet treats from the other side of the Pond which allows us to get our fix of all the things we miss from home. In fact, it has become a destination not only for ex-pats but for St Margaret's Bay locals too! In addition to the British grocery/deli side of the business, Delish excels at breakfast dishes (including full British breakfasts as well as more Canadian style "brunch" dishes) all of which include tea or coffee and are served till 12 noon. As for lunch, they have a great range of hot store baked pies and pasties, soups made daily and sandwiches. Undoubtedly the star, though, is the Ploughman's Lunch. At $8.95 plus tax it comes with hunks of cheese, slices of ham, a hard boiled egg or (as happened today when they ran out of hard boiled eggs) a pork pie, lettuce and tomatoes as well as bread and butter, pickled onions and the British classic, Branston Pickle. All of this is fair enough until you realise that my wife and I shared it and it was a full meal EACH! In fact, when we said we wanted to share, rather than giving us a plate with 2 forks, they split it all out onto 2 plates for us. AWESOME SERVICE! Also, Delish serves Illy, one of the best, most expensive coffees in the world, but at normal St Margaret's Bay prices! If you are in St Margaret's Bay, in Halifax, or on your way to Peggy's Cove and looking for breakfast, lunch or just to stock up on your British food products, ignore all the competition and head straight to Delish! read more

[raised eyebrows] we were totally surprised that it got the British Award. I was embarassed that people would find out and perhaps go there. Terrible decor, non-deli like, non-British like, overpriced and so overrated. It only got a star because the owner is a nice fella. read more

Wonderful little spot that once you find you'll be returning to for sure. Enjoy their Smoke Meat sandwiches a couple of times a month as well as several british specialty products they bring in. Owners are wonderful and on site most days. Check em out for sure. read more

British food the real thing, I don't think so. Worst experience ever, pies are dry tase like they came from a can.
