I just canceled my membership. The adjustments as of late were too inconsistent for me and the growing AND RIDICULOUS wait times were getting unbearable. While everyone here is super nice, I can't justify waiting 1-1.5 hours for a quick adjustment (that sometimes isn't good) when I can make an appointment with someone in an uncrowded office covered by my insurance and be in-and-out in 10-15 minutes. Three out of my five last visits, I've walked in to a wait of more than 30 minutes - twice being more than an hour. That's not keeping chiro accessible to me, that's throwing my damn day off. And it's the worstttt when they have a new patient. The app doesn't let you know what wait times are looking like, so you could walk into anything. I was also repeatedly annoyed by the folks at the front desk... for myriad reasons. 1) There was an app issue months back that prevented me from using my final visit. After speaking to THREE folks at the front desk, including a manager, and being told that visit I lost would be added back, it NEVER was. Maybe they added IG and the system automatically removed it, but I eventually gave up. Also, there have been like 3-4 folks at the front desk since I joined. It's fine - part-time jobs, I get it. However, the most recent person, while nice, can be obnoxiously loud. And there have been multiple times she's been on the phone or FaceTime while I've waited in the lobby and I've had to listen to her entire conversations. Adjustments: I still maintain that Dr. Joe is the best at what he does here. I haven't seen Dr. Christian in a while but he's good, too. Dr. Johnson was my go-to but he left and went to Palmercare. Dr. Anthony recently popped back up. If you don't have insurance or can't get in to see your doctor, this place isn't bad as a last resort. But be mindful of wait times and who's in the office. read more

My partner was experiencing some lower back pain for several days. A friend of hers shared that she has routine appointments with her chiropractor to help keep her body performing at optimal function. I accompanied my partner to her first visit. The Alexandria location is pretty small, yet tidy. There was only one chiropractor on site... Dr. Jordan, who was swift friendly. He definitely had his days work cut out l, seeing each patient averaging around 6 minutes at a time. He was kind and patient with our questions. He did a brief assessment and then manipulated my cervical and lumbar vertebrae as I heard the crepitus (popping sounds) being released. I did leave feeling pretty good, feeling light. My partner said her back pain sustained. I learned that you don't need to be injured or have some kind of chronic pain to see a practitioner. I wasn't going to do this, but honestly, this was my worst experience with the joint and it really upset me to the point that I'm still bothered by it hours later. I have been infrequently visiting random locations of this chain chiropractor (on and off) for years. This particular location made me uncomfortable the moment I walked in the door. As the receptionist finished up checking someone out and attempting to sell them on a membership, she asked for my phone number to look me up at check in as expected. Almost immediately after my name came up in the system...she tried pushing me to get a membership. I respectfully declined. However, she decided to push it in a different way, after I had already explained my reason as to why I didn't want it (although I shouldn't have to) I continued to say no thanks, I'm good, just a walk in please. Soon after, she awkwardly walked me to the back almost ashamed...I felt bad like I'd done something wrong but all I did was say no thank you? I thought the haggling was over, only to be gaslighted by the doctor the entire time, "it's your body, that's on you" "you don't want to save money" "what would you tell someone in your career? Wait until they're in pain?" "You know the joint is everywhere right?" Because I said I was moving in a month. Even asking him questions, everything was sprinkled with sass and sarcasm and just genuinely bad attitude trying to get me to change my mind. Honestly, it's my choice how I decide to spend my money, I know what I can and can't afford and that was all completely unnecessary and very uncomfortable to deal with while maintaining a friendly smile on my face. And personally, the joint for me has always been a quick fix until I get to my primary. I don't typically want to pay a monthly fee that 1. I'm not going to use to make it worth it and 2. To receive care from a different doctor every time that has five minutes of time to evaluate me and 3. The care is always mediocre at best and you still walk out in pain. Believe me I've tried their "treatment plan" it's not worth it, but I politely say no thanks instead. There's probably a reason this practice is begging people to sign a membership, they chase everyone away. This visit was so unbareable I don't think I'll go to another joint location again. I'd rather spend the money at a private practice with thorough examination and respectful staff that doesn't shove my decision in my face. BEWARE. I'm yet another customer writing a review about problems with incorrect charges and difficulties getting refunds. When the Capitol Hill location closed (after 2 other DC locations closed and I had to move there), they "moved" me again (but NEVER told me) to this location as my new home clinic, even though it's very far from where I live. The only way I found out about this was an additional monthly charge hitting my credit card. No other notification to even let me know this was happening. This clinic claims that the charge that hit my credit card today came from the other clinic which has been closed for over a week, so they can't refund it. They said I had to dispute it with my bank if I wanted a refund. What an awful way to treat a loyal customer of over 2 years. UPDATE: They posted a comment below that is totally disingenuous. There is no way to contact the old location because it is permanently closed. I went in person to the new location and they specifically said they couldn't help me. The Joint also has my contact info and has never contacted me. My bank said this charge meets their thresh-hold for fraud and they will be refunding me. read more

They just kind of crack your back and neck. No personalized service after the first visit and they get you to sign up and pay. After you sign up and pay they quickly crack your back when you come in without asking any questions most of the time. Like an assembly line. If you just need your back cracked on a weekly basis or whatever, go for it. But if you're looking for a personalized care for your back pain I wouldn't bother. read more

Do not get a membership with this place. Even if you follow their procedure of going in person to cancel, they will not and you will be charged. I had to ask the front desk person several times for someone to contact regarding the months of charges I received after going into the clinic in December to cancel. She continuously told me I had to fill out another cancellation form. I specifically said I did not want to sign a form for the second time I went in because I felt like they would use it against me and say I only came to cancel in March. I eventually signed the form because she said there was no way to prevent another continuing charge from occurring without said form. When I finally was able to get contact information and speak to a manager I was told that I would be unable to receive a refund because they did not follow their own policy and they tried to use the second cancellation form against me just as I predicted. There is hardly, if ever, a manager on site if there are issues. Now I have to try to dispute the hundreds of dollars of charges for a fault of their own. Also, every time you go for an appointment they will pester you to post positive reviews of them on Google so take all of the positive reviews lightly. Edit: They also clearly give the same cut and copy response to each complaint on Yelp and do not reach out to address concerns. Never heard from anyone. Another poor business practice. read more

So I travel for work, I found myself needing an adjustment went in for a single adjustment while I was In The area, for 2 months now they have charged me for a subscription that I did not authorize, I called multiple times then when I finally get ahold of someone they send me a form to cancel the subscription that I did not authorize in the first place. then get told that I will not receive the money they took from me without the authorization. they sent me forms saying yes you did and the signatures on the forms were not mine. It was a little scribbles forgery so don't waste your time or money at this location I've now escalated the matters to corporate and they are now looking into the matter Update still no word from the joint just beware go somewhere else that cares about there customers because clearly these folks don't Day 3 still no word.. Day 4 still no word will be contacting a lawyer for forgery Monday 2-26-24 if still no word from the joint all I'm asking is for them to make things right obviously I'm not the only one who has had these issues Update time : on the 23rd of February I got a call from the joint asking that I take down my post that they approved the refund for the money that was taken from me not and they realized I didn't agree or sign the subscription forms and that it was forgery and they were sorry it happened and I would have my money back in 7-10 days it's now the 4th of march and I still haven't received my refund and back to not getting a call back or anyone to answer when I call them I also told them once I received my refund that I would remove the review read more

Two stars because the limited treatment helped somewhat, but I left feeling like areas I had directly pointed out were unaddressed. Wouldn't honor the new customer price when I declined to sign up for a package. The doctor spent more time trying to scare me into seeing him three days a week than to actually treat me. He's not my first chiro, I know the drill. I just wanted a single adjustment. I felt like my issues weren't addressed at all. I spent ten minutes filling out the detailed paperwork only for them not to even look at it. Nobody took no for an answer. The chiropractor barely looked over my paperwork, asked what the issues were, and began adjusting me. I attempted to explain what had worked for me in the past but he didn't listen. After three spot adjustments (neck, mid-back and lower back), he exclaimed I was done. He didn't ask any follow up questions. Declared I've never been adjusted before because was I tight everywhere. I've come to this location off and on for years and the staff has always been excellent and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Ward. Although all of my adjustments are always sufficient and provide relief, I'm 6'4 and 230 lbs so I always appreciate a deeper adjustment. Hearing and feeling a few more cracks n pops is what we are all looking for and Dr. Ward definitely applies an intuitive nuance to his craft. read more

The most annoying part of any visit is the constant push to upsell you packages, etc. I've repeatedly told them I do not want a package yet they ALWAYS try to harass me into purchasing them. First, I have mostly had interactions with Jordan. He has honestly been more helpful than any physician I have seen. I was scared to death to let anyone touch me after an extremely painful back injury a couple years ago. He listened to me, HEARD ME, and has just went the extra step to help me get some relief. He is very knowledgeable and passionate; and it shows in every visit with him. I am so grateful for his expertise, drop-bedside manner, and all the great suggestions to get me feeling better. I saw another doctor here, petite dark-haired woman. I felt so much better after my visit with her. She was straightforward and kind and definitely knows her stuff!!! I could tell immediately that she cared about me feeling better. You don't always feel that these days with healthcare providers. Great asset to the company. read more

Charged me for six months of unused visited after signing me up for a membership that they didn't cancel when I requested them to.

First, the receptionist here is incredibly abrasive and rude. She will talk over you and try and pressure you to do and sign things without ready them. Of course, don't let her. Second, I am attempting to cancel my account over the phone due to COVID-19. We are in a shelter-in-place requirement by the local government, yet they can't accommodate a cancel request over the phone. I am putting myself and their staff in danger by going in there to cancel my account. Third, they claim there's no corporate and no one above them to call. All their social media accounts is ran by the franchise? Couldn't tell you as they never respond. Do your research before going here. Update: I had to go in and cancel my membership. I wanted to cancel my monthly plan and they said they couldn't do it. They had to give me a hard time to do it and kept hanging up on me. Of og them even told me she was going to call the cops on me for harassment because i kept calling them and hung up on me telling me she would give me my money back and to leave them alone (stop calling them). Update: The one on King street has all new doctors, and it's great again! I was driving out to Hilltop, but I love the news doctors they've brought on. I love The Joint, and it's helped my neck a lot. I also go to the hilltop location when I have time and see Dr. Fields, who is fantastic too, and you can't beat the price! I couldn't afford chiropractic care if not for The Joint. I was easily paying 40-60 per visit at other places in co-pays and as a result rarely, if ever went back. Now, with The Joint, I go once a week and it's been life-changing! I love all the locations they have too. Was able to get adjust while home in Raleigh last weekend as well! read more

Be careful with the "wellness plan". Do NOT SIGN anything with them without reading it first! They asked you to call a manager and all he said was the same thing that we signed a contract with them for two months. BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL YOUR CLIENTS BEFORE YOU PUSH THEM TO SIGN A LONG CONTACT. I have been going to a chiropractor for several years. It became too expensive and I stopped going. When I found The Joint, I was skeptical at first. But the providers they have to treat patients coming in for adjustments are incredible. Everyone is friendly, experienced, and helpful. Very very bad business! Be very careful when u sign off something. They re try to trap every client when they could!!! I took my mom there last November 2020 by recommendation from friend of mine! When I got there the front desk girl was not really nice try to tell us fill out the form, but I told her that we just wanna try 1st, but she forced us to fill out 1st if not they not gonna take us, we decided to leave, but one of the lady in the back came out n ask why and telling us it just a form that making sure our health history is ok, and try to up sale us to buy a package 7times for little cheaper! We re ok to do that bc I want my mom try (her back is hurting) After all, they took her and we payed!!! After that She only came one more time bc we live 1hr away plus doesn't help anything much and I think she gonna have 5more times left, she could use anytime, No rush. Omg after 5months, we didn't pay no attention... they charged my mom $79 dollars monthly straight from her bank account (she just noticed n told me yesterday). I called them and they sbusinessaid they my mom signed for monthly and I asked how they have my mom bank account info. they said they copy why she paid , I told them we only wanna try and came 2times, why we would sign monthly for and never come back after that, they said that not their responsibility! And the receptionist told me I could come back tomorrow because there was an hour wait with 2 new sign ups and two members waiting (close to 6pm they close at 7pm). So I came in today 4/28 and they would not grant me my last visit for the month. After I was told I could come in today. I decided to give this place a try after a friend of mine raves about it. The first time I went in I was concerned about neck pain and headache. The Chiropractor was so rude and so un empathetic towards the pain I was feeling. I did not feel taken care of at ALL. He gave me a quick half assed adjustment and sent me on my way. I work out and I started feeling a pinching sensation in on my lower back ear my spine. I decided to give this place another try as I had a better idea as to what pain I was feeling. Again, I had the same experience with this chiropractor. He asked what I was feeling, told him and AGAIN he had the most non compassionate attitude towards me. He didn't address what could potentially be going with my back. Just gave me a quick adjustment asked if I was feeling better. I told him "no" thinking he would try another adjustment or do something different but nope. All he said was "I would go see a physical therapist" I will not be going back here. Service was mediocre, quick and not really worth the price. I agreed to a monthly membership. Canceled and didn't think much about it. Few months later I was still being charged, called corporate and had to see the store. Went in to cancel and moved on. Now I come to find out it was not cancelled and am being told there are no refunds. I can cancel now after months, but no refund of past payments. I've been charged now about 1 year without realizing it until I used an app to pull subscription accounts. $69 a month! read more

I got some help for an injury here, but I found that after trying 3 different chiropractors, I only saw a small difference. Worse they offered me two free treatments, and then never let me use them - as well as got me into a deal for treatment that was an ongoing monthly payment plan, and refused to let me cancel. I have been to other Joint locations where I've had great experiences (especially at the joint in Owings mills, md Dr. DeCarlo is phenomenal), but at this location I had a negative experience. The receptionist didn't acknowledge me when I came in; she was in a personal conversation that went on for awhile until I said excuse me and asked to be seen (there had been a free Dr. since I walked in. I recommend AVOIDING The Joint. Yes, they are convenient and provide just-OK care. But, after being a member for about 6 months, I cancelled my membership (which to their credit, they did so quickly and without complaint); I went to a MUCH BETTER chiropractor (in a more conventional doctor's office setting) and he helped fix the damage The Joint may have inflicted on my back. He (the new doc) told me that he had heard about the place, that they don't have the best reputation in the chiropractic field/industry, and tend to adhere more to the "pop and crack" chiropractic practices of yesteryear. To the Practice Manager: On Saturday, September 17, 2016, around 4 p.m., I came in for my regular chiropractic adjustment. I am writing to inform you that I am very disappointed with the quality of care I received. After I got home from my visit, I noticed an unusual and intense pain on my left-lower-back. I have been getting chiropractic treatment for over four years, by a few different doctors in the DMV, and I have never felt this level of pain after a visit. I expect some soreness, but not new and intense pain. Ever since my visit, I have trouble sitting or standing up straight without muscle pain. I can only hope this didn't do irreparable damage to my back. (I will be visiting my regular doctor for an examination and x-ray of my back in the near future). I don't know what happened Saturday. Not possible to give zero stars so I have to give one. The worst customer service. They make it impossible to cancel your membership and owe me months of refunds I'm sure I'll never receive. They will trick you into signing up for a membership that will renew without warning. They will not respond to any emails. I came here three times total for a recurring back tweak. The first two times I saw Dr. Soto, and was overall pleased. They do try to sell you on their packages, and you don't get the typical ice/electrostim/ and/or physical therapy you might get at other chiros. However, the adjustment itself was effective and I was happy with the walk-in nature. The pricing is the same as my insurance copay. This Saturday, my experience was MUCH different. I showed up right at 9am, and someone was already ahead of me. I was informed the doctor wasn't in yet.... While I waited, I noticed people kept calling and asking which doctor was there today. Maybe that should have been a red flag? Front desk kept saying the doctor was *almost* there. The person ahead of me left... and I waited. This guy, Dr. Albertson(?), struts in over 20 minutes after opening. He doesn't apologize, not to mention acknowledge, the fact he was late. Within 30 seconds he is calling me back, indicating zero review of my record. I get the absolute worst 60 seconds adjustment I have ever had in my life, and depart in slightly more pain than I went in with. The patient after me was already walked to her car as I was pulling out of my parking space. I don't know what to say other than I am astonished at how poor the care was and the total lack of respect afforded to patients. I will also be contacting the Joint directly and filing a complaint. If you are in a bind need an adjustment NOW, at the very least call ahead and make sure it is Dr Soto or check out another Joint with good reviews. read more

First this place is a scam... they don't tell you you have to cancel in person AT the same location you initially joined. that's some bull bc people travel and if the service is good they want to sign up. the deal seems good but that's also a scam they push you to get the membership after the $29 special almost as if you have no choice. Then you pay for the first month but can't cancel until you pay for 2 full months!!! I have never had a membership somewhere that doesn't allow you to just cancel or you have to pay a certain amount before canceling. also for working women and men they hours stuck and they still don't try to accommodate you! Went in for an adjustment as my neck is out and causing me extreme pain the Dr I saw couldn't get it adjusted at all . All he said was get a massage which I heard him repeat the same phrase to the two people after me as weI've been getting adjusted since age 12 never once has a dr not been able to adjust me .. waste of $39.00 not to mention 40 in uber fees . Pretty darn impressed. I drove by this place living just down the street like a ton of times. Was always really skeptical. Why would I pay full price when I have insurance, and most places will bill for me? Well my mom-in-law recommended it so I finally checked it out. Like I said, pretty darn impressed. Their package makes an adjustment $19 and change without insurance, even with insurance I would pay more. I go whenever I want with no appointment required. I can make my package end whenever I want. They even counted my first consultation as part of my package so I didn't have to pay extra. Front end lady was really nice and chipper. OK, so, the actual doctor. I didn't feel like she was selling me anything I didn't need and was very professional and caring. Not sure how they pull that off at that price, but I've found my new Chiro. read more

I manage the Batteries plus Bulbs store around the corner from them. As a person who is constantly lifting heavy objects and being an amateur contortionist when trying to install car batteries my neck and lower back have been a constant source of pain. In many ways I didn't realize how much pain I have been in and how many activities I decline doing because I was afraid of increasing the pain. I made my first visit to a chiropractor the day The Joint opened. All I can say is how impressed I was with the staff. From their coordinator Bri to the various doctors on staff it was a great and professional environment. I became a member after my first adjustment because of the instant relief I felt. After discussing my treatment with the doctors on staff we decide a weekly treatment plan was the best way to manage the pain and ensure that once gone it will not be coming back. When I was asked to rate my pain level for my back and neck I scored them in the 7 to 8 range. Since going for just two months my pain scores have been cut in half and I look forward to working on tough battery installations because I know that I am literally in good hands with The Joint. I love the Joint for the convenience and most of the chiropractors are great, but the receptionist at this location was incredibly disorganized and incapable of even checking me in when my scan card didn't work. While she struggled to understand how to do her job, she kept letting people come in and scan in ahead of us. By the end, we had to wait while 4 people came behind us to be treated, despite arriving well before them. Not a fun way to spend my afternoon . read more
