I've been going to The Joint for years. I enjoy the walk in appointments, close location to my home and friendly staff. Dr Hines always greets me with cheerfulness and concern for my health. Many chiropractors over the years have difficulty adjusting my neck, but Dr Hines is able to adjust it easily. He asks questions about issues bothering my back and changes his routine based on my needs. His kind demeanor and speed in getting me adjusted and back on the road is very appreciated. No one followed up with me. This really shows how much they don't care. A little bummed to write this review but my most recent experience was so poor that I feel it is necessary I provide my patient feedback. Almost all of my experiences at this location have been positive but this last one has led me to decide that I will no longer be visiting this location. 1. All front desk staff except for 1 allow me to use the restroom regardless of if there is someone getting adjusted or not. I find this to be confusing and annoying that the team is not on the same page. 2. Last time I was in the 1 front desk staff that says no was there so I knew to just wait to use the restroom once it was my turn. I waited 5-10 minutes and was called back. I let the doctor know that I needed to use the restroom first. It's hard getting adjusted with a full bladder and even harder to relax. As I was in the restroom I hear him call someone else back skipping my turn... when I came back out of the bathroom I awkwardly asked " did you just want me to go back out there and wait? " the chiropractor just said yes and did not seem one bit concerned that maybe asking someone else to come back when I patiently waited my turn was a messed up thing to do. I went back out to the waiting room and waited for 5-10 minutes before deciding that I did not want his hands on me considering I had a bad taste in my mouth and I felt pretty heated at that point. So, I left. I then called the location and requested they put my visit back on my account since I did not receive any services. I then shared my feedback and instead of attempting to make my experience better or even connecting with me so that I felt heard/valued as a patient the rep's response was " I'll let someone know this happened ". I honestly feel that this reflects poorly on that location and the lack of effort/warmth/consideration I received really bothered me. I work in customer service and I know the customer is not always right but I also know the difference between good and poor service and I never waste my time on a place that is ok with giving out poor service. My issue was a great opportunity to demonstrate that the joint is consumer oriented but instead I just felt like this place just wants people in and out without real connection/care. Doesn't make sense considering they are tending to people's hurt bodies. Last note- the main doctor there is exceptional except for that last visit. I highly recommend him. Went to the Joint after a back injury. The first visit was great. The lady Dr. took her time and went over my injury. Manipulated my back and did a great massage on the injury area. At least 15-20 minutes overall and gave great tips for recovery. She recommended a second visit. Went for a second visit and had a tall gentleman Dr. he spent more time trying to book more appointments then on my back. 5 minutes tops without covering any of my injury. Was thinking of signing up but not after that 5 minute $39 waste of money. Not coming back for sure. read more

I went in and filled out 7 pages in the waiting room just so that I could be greeted by an unfriendly "doctor." In the back room he proceeded to ask me what my concerns were, and the purpose of my visit. He very quickly responded without letting me finish what my concerns were. He said that what they are a "wellness center" for people who want to relax from a stressful day. Since I had legitimate chiropractic issues it wasn't a good fit. This place is a glorified massage parlor that pushes chiropractic health as a relaxing experience instead of helping people w true chiropractic issues. My review is meant to save people time, and frustration but more importantly potentially harm since this "doctor" does not specialize in actually helping people but instead as he put it, "help people relax after work." read more

On a whim I decided to stop in at this San Marcos location since my two favorite doctors at other "JOINTS" were out of the office last month (they have since even relocated out of the area). Boy, did I get lucky in finding Dr. Hines. I can say that his adjustments are even better than at the other locations! His demeanor is very positive and calming. It's been a while since my last adjustment ( I wasn't very happy with the two other locations near me - Escondido & Encinitas), but my back lately has been killing me. I noticed this new location about a week ago while my husband and I were running errands. I was excited that there was a new location so close to my house, but after less than thrilling experiences at the other locations, I was hesitant to come here. Today my back and neck discomfort was so bad, I decided that I would give it a try. At the very least I would hopefully get some temporary relief. The location is very nice (new). I was immediately greeted and checked it. *so far, so good* And then the scary part...waiting to see who will be cracking your bones lol. This visit I saw Dr. Sorensen. He was friendly, funny and personable. I forewarned him that my neck is stubborn when it comes to adjustments, but this was not the case with Dr. Sorensen. All his adjustments were a breeze and comfortable. He even did my favorite spine adjustment that I had mention! Before I left, he showed me a stretching exercise to help with my upper back. It's nice to meet Drs that care and go above just their basic duties. I'm so happy I decided to check this location out! I will definitely be coming back in the near future for another adjustment. Strongly Recommend coming to this location. I used to work in La Jolla area and had been to many of The Joint locations trying to find a Chiropractor who really was able to understand my situation and not just try to move on to the next person in line. Here at this specific location Doctor Tayte Hines has taken the time to get to know my specific Chiropractic needs to adjust and correct the areas where I have the most pain. I have been on the road to recovery since I have been coming here the past year. I have even gotten my wife a membership at The Joint so she can also get adjusted regularly as well. I travel about 30 minutes just to come to this specific location. Even though I live in another city I gladly make the trip to this location once a week and will continue to do so. If you request to cancel your membership, you automatically forfeit your remaining unused sessions which in my case is 1 = $19 & change. Fine. But you still get charged for 1 month, and then you only have 7 days to use them or you lose them. Nice racket! And the response you will get from the business manager is a standard, stock response to make you feel good but without really addressing your issue. She wants me to address it with the clinic that I have an issue with. Ha. Nice racket! So now, I am out $69. I just wish that the lady in the front office had explained this to me before I signed up. So, next time, ask for a copy or copies of every document that you sign. Oh well, nice racket. read more

I live less than a mile from the Oceanside location but I drive to the San Marcos location because I really like Dr. Hines' technique. There is rarely a wait (unlike the Oceanside location) which is nice and makes it convenient to get in and out quickly. I wouldn't say you're going to get the most super personalized treatment or a personal connection with Dr. Hines, like you would get with a private practice chiropractor. For example, we tragically lost our baby at 17 weeks of pregnancy and I shared that with Dr. Hines and then at my very next visit, a week later, he asked me how my pregnancy was going. But he's friendly enough and always leaves me feeling much better. There are some oddities with this location that I have not seen in other locations. For example, you can't wait with your spouse while they get adjusted even if you're going to get adjusted next. And you can't use the restroom while someone else is being adjusted (why have the bathroom in the back of the office then??). Also, long after the mask mandate was lifted, Dr. Hines requires his patients to be masked during an adjustment. Overall, I would recommend this location and Dr. Hines but if you're looking for a more in depth treatment and attentiveness then I'd suggest going with a private practice. read more

The front desk and the weekend chiropractor, Dr. Nazar are excellent. Dr Hines however, as other reviewers have stated, is arrogant and condescending. He will adjust you and say "there you go" when nothing has happened. When I told him that I tense up when having my neck adjusted, he asked me if I wanted him to adjust my neck, when I momentarily paused because of his combative energy, he said loudly, "that's a yes or no answer"! I said no thank you and left. He likes to use the little clicker thing which basically does nothing. I will see the weekend doctor here then cancel after 2 months.Never again. Dr. Hines also wore his bandana mask so loosely that it was falling off of his face. I do question the cleanliness of his table. Whoever the owner is of this franchise should take these negative reviews to heart. He is the most unprofessional, rude person that I have ever encountered in the healing arts. read more

First time seeing a chiropractor. The place was clean and quiet. The doctor was nice and the receptionist was helpful, kind and even when it got a little busy she didn't seem to get flustered or bothered. I like the keychain idea because it will save time at the next visit. I will be going back just to see if it will relieve the issues I was experiencing. Came in on Saturday for an adjustment, first time into this location. There were three regulars ahead of me and it was so great to see the front desk check in person know their names and interact with them... the doctor was quick and efficient and gave me a few new stretches to try. I had immediate relief and felt this adjustment was one of the best I had. New Joint in San Marcos means new back for me! This location is only a few months old, replacing the former cupcake space across from AT&T. Upon entering you're warmly greeted by Belle, who swears her bobbed haircut is grey, but I say it's blonde! When greeted she clearly explains pricing, the necessary paperwork to fill out - it only takes about 10 minutes - and what to expect from the Doctor. I'm not going to reveal the time I went because I expect they are going to get busy real soon and I want to keep my "secret" time slot close! Sorry Yelpers! But later afternoon is best...see what I did there. After meeting with Dr. S, he thoroughly read through my initial paperwork, asked me questions about my lifestyle, and explained the purpose of The Joint. Since I had previously done my research, he was glad I understood what The Joint's mission was. They are for routine, basic care manipulating the spine and sharing their expertise to get ride of those painful back aches. I was pleasantly surprised about the personalization the Doc showed. He was kind and noticed many of my back concerns upon his evaluation. Dr. S, was very knowledgeable, kind, and just a real cool person to talk to. There are 2 doctors at this location. I saw Dr. S today who is there T-S, and the 2nd is there Sun-M. Many membership packages are available. I'm on a family plan at $19 a month with a happily agreed 6 month commitment. So far, I'm a 5 star Yelper with The Joint at San Marcos Grand Plaza! As my membership grows, I'll follow up with any concerns. For now, Yelpers, this place is a 5 star. Happy yelping! read more

Went to the Escondido location at 2:30 in the afternoon and there was no chiropractor on site. Being in a time crunch for the day, I stopped by the San Marcos location because it was mostly on my way to my appointment. The staff was friendly and helpful. Appeared like they liked their jobs. Was in and out in no time. I will be driving past the Escondido location to come here. I was going to cancel my membership, but I think I will be staying for a while because of San Marcos. read more

If you're looking for a routine care chiropractic office with friendly, fast, quality service then look no further. Dr. Sorenson is cool, we talk about sports and his adjustments are always spot on. Liana at the front is very helpful and kind. She's been at this location since the beginning of the year sometime and I've seen a lot of improvements since then. I need itemized bills for my HSA and she always gets them to me within a day, which is great because it would take a week with the previous receptionists. Their prices are extremely reasonable and fit perfectly with my weekly adjustments. I have the monthly plan. If you're looking for routine care, it's definitely the way to go. I am really bad with names, I wanted to review each Doctor but honestly both doctors I have seen here were great! One was slightly better than the other, but they both listened to my needs and got the "dowagers hump" to move as well as my hips. Both difficult. If you are a first timer at the Joint, let me give you a few tips: 1. If you have a brand new injury and need therapy, x-rays, etc. then don't go here. Go see Dr. Joe Hernandez in San Marcos. He is excellent, and when I was first injured I saw him solely for years. 2. If you have been seeing a chiropractor for years, or only go in to get your maintenance quickies, than this is the place! 3. The joint is a corporate owned franchise and they have locations everywhere. I pay $59/month and receive 4 visits free. If I need an extra, it is only $16. 4. They always have first time specials and different membership options. 5. Be specific about your needs. They put it in the computer and no matter who you see, they all do the same routine. In and out in 5 minutes. Perfect for professionals or mom's on the go. 6. There are no appointments. Walk-ins only and first come first serve. Some locations get busy at lunchtime, so always ask how long they expect the wait to be. 7. This is the drive thru of chiropractic care. If you want massage, therapy tables, and special balms, look for someone like Dr. Joe Hernandez in San Marcos. read more
