My husband and i bought my engagement ring from Dikran 16 years ago. As first time diamond buyers we had done our homework and went with a lovely almost flawless "j" color diamond in a solitaire setting. Even thiough it's not huge, i regularly get compliments on it. Over the years, rather than trade it in, i have gotten a new setting for it every 5 years or so, keeping the cost down but getting to have a new ring. My most recent setting is a micro pave which glitters so much it makes the diamond seem twice as big. We could never afford to buy that diamond now! Dikran and his wife are low key, completely not "sales" types at all. They let their inventory speak for itself, and it does. Went to Jubilee after a friend recommended. I was purchasing a diamond and a separate setting for my fiance at the time. DIkran showed me some stones, but I saw an Asscher cut that I preferred from a dealer in San Diego. I brought the stone to Dikran and selected a setting that I liked from his store. He insisted that I try another setting that was less expensive, more ornate because he thought it looked better. I had my mind set, but his persistence paid off. After countless negative jewelry shopping experiences, Jubilee came to the rescue... I can't even begin to describe the craftsmanship and quality of my beautiful milgrained platinum engagement and wedding set (which Dikran helped me pick out and made them to match each other perfectly). I get comments from strangers almost every day! Jubilee manufactures in NYC - NOT in China like a lot of other jewelers and the quality shows and turnaround is fast. I also didn't expect such reasonable prices. Jubilee prices for platinum are what other jewelers at 888 Brannan charge for 14k gold. Walk around and get some prices..see for yourself. And get this - when my band turned out to be cheaper than expected, Dikran told me about the difference and charged me less. Who does that these days?! Certainly no one in the jewelry business (which I've come to equate with used car dealerships based on negative past experiences). But the biggest + for me, was his no-pressure calming demeanor. I never felt pressured or rushed. He spent as much time with me and my husband as we needed and took the time to help me with my decision (or lack of it) every step of the way. My Manager Referred me here after he had bought his wifes engagement ring and wedding band from Dikran. My then boyfriend (now fiancé) went in to look at engagement rings since he wanted to see why style ring I wanted. We got to his shop i was amazed that he had a wide selection of styles. At first i was looking for a diamond solitaire with a white gold band. His Wife ( never got her name) sweet lady started showing use bands which of course i stuck with the most plain style to keep it simple. Thats when Dikran stepped in since we were asking for prices. She was truthful and told us that she didn't know the prices. So she called him over to help us while she assisted the other customers that came in. He told me to try on the Halo styled bands and he said to get a better idea to put the center stone and to take it out of the light to see how much the diamond shine with out light. he must of shown use about 30 bands until i narrowed it down to 3, but i kept coming back to this Halo style ring with diamonds going down the side. The band had diamonds going all the way round. I just wanted the diamonds to go half way he told me that he was able to customize the ring the way i wanted too. not only that he gave me a discount because this style was brand new!! i never met a jeweler that did that most of them would hack up the prize up the ant because its a new style. Now my fiancé pick the diamond i must say he did a pretty good job!! it shines like no other!! the diamond is big but not too big. its not Kim k diamond thats for sure but my ring is absolutely perfect! he also gave the fiancé a really nice discount for paying in cash! I was so happy with Dikran I bought 3 rings from him. When we went the first time we wanted the best quality diamond we could get but I wanted something big enough to look like I care. Dikran actually told me I don't need a really big center stone because if I added side bands down the road it would make the center stone look larger. We were looking for a very specific lucky charm pendant for our son. It was supposed to replace a lost piece made of gold numbers that carried very special meaning. Dikran took his time to research through catalogs and found appropriate style in New York. Small shop run by husband and wife team. Lovely selection of settings all in platinum, but any can be made in gold if that's what you prefer. I originally was going to go with a gold setting for my engagement ring, but this place sold me on platinum. Their platinum is shinier, whiter and brighter than platinum I have seem anywhere else! Dirkan, the owner, told me that this is because he uses iridium in the platinum mixture. It blew away my impression of platinum as a "grey" metal. I actually had a great experience of service with the owner's wife - she listened to what I wanted, was flexible when I changed my mind about what I liked, gave me her honest opinion even when the setting she said didn't look as good on me was more expensive, and never pushed me. This was the ONLY time I experienced such genuine helpfulness with jewelry sales people. Did I say the prices are MORE than reasonable?! Stop by this place.
